I work with C++ for our game engine and I'm not switching to Rust, no matter how much you beg and plead and cry. I'm not sorry, either. It's not my fault, nor problem, that you struggle with memory management so much that you would rather do it in `unsafe { } `
>>540409510
Hello. I am using C++20 and pissed off that C++26 isn't done and probably won't be for another 250 years. How are you doing?
>>540409581
To be honest, I prefer Ziggers over Rustlets. At least Ziggers know their place.
>>
>>540413296
I'm doing good. Why are you not using c++23 and waiting for C++26?
>>
>>540413756
>Why are you not using c++23 and waiting for C++26?
It was a 3 month argument for C++20 and there are things that must be done. I intend for us to switchin to C++23 soon, but it will take a bit more time. I think I have them won over, though. The big issue is really compiler/platform support. What features are you appreciating in C++23?
>>
>>540402547
It shouldn't be that hard to set up arrays anon
>>
>>540413296
>struggle with memory management so much that you would rather do it in `unsafe { } `
ok so you don't understand how rust works
that's also fine, i should've included that as a third category in my prior post
that puts you together with retards like Jon Blow and Ryan Fleury
>>
>>540413981
That makes sense, you typically don't need to update projects to new tools unless you absolutely need a new feature that doesn't exist in the prior version. It's just asking for headaches.
>>
>>540413981
Oh I don't use 23 either, just figured I'd ask since you mentioned waiting for 26.
>>
>>540414458
Seriously, yeah. I wish we just agreed to keep it all on Linux, but they wanted the big three. On the plus side, I was able to get approval to play with AVX+ SIMD/Intrinsics -- So, even though i don't get constexpr for all math until C++26, I can get some pretty good stuff out of it.
>>540414914
My big interest in C++26 is just constexpr for math. There are some other nice things, but until we even have modules ready for C++20 for each compiler we need to support, I don't even see a point in going that far out.
>>540414163
>ok so you don't understand how rust works
lol ok, I "don't know how it works" but directly reference the low level entry hatch. Sure, well I actually had reached out to help out with the Rust compiler, but decided to not push my fixes out because of how uppity the community is. It had to do with the compile time and a weird decision made for structures, and that is the only elaboration I'll give you. What's horrid is that you could probably just rebuild the compiler in C and calling it a day. It's a little extra overhead, but at least you can at least solve the problems you want to avoid. But I guess that kinda defeats the whole "replace C" movement :^)
Anyways, how is everyones progress going? I just improved how fast nodes are responding because it looks like everyone wants to be a fucktard about data structures day in and day out. No-gam here, but maybe a little test gam soon.

So, I want to get into game development.

Current skills:
Pro 2D artist, pro music composer, sound designer, pro mixing and mastering engineer, basic C# knowledege.

So, I have my dream game right? With all this characters, music, aesthethics, plot all pretty much figured it out. I want that game to be 3D and I've realized that the scope is too big (as usual). So I got a lot of advice saying "just do a smaller game, start with 2D".

Everytime I try to do something that is not what I truly want to create, I lose all my drive and willingness to work on it. Doing it just for the money is not appealing to me at all.

So, my question is, should I do what I truly want deep in my soul even tho the game is too big? (it's not an MMO nor the next GTA, but I think the scope is still very big) or should I suck it up and do something that is not exactly what I want to do but is faster and easier? I hear you.

Just go for the dream game but ideally try to strip it down into the smallest you can possibly make it but where you still want to make it. Just shoot for building a small demo of it like a single level or area where you can test most of the gameplay. That'll give you an idea of what its like to make it and whether or not you want to go for making the rest of it

They didn’t even mention taxes, and they made all the money in 1 year so taxes will be huge, like 40-50%. That leaves 2-4 years of income at a poverty level.
>>
One more note of frustration with Unreal? The little projects they do regarding trying to showcase proper structure for a professional environment? What they're doing is just putting in their structure they use it Fortnite and calling it standard. Because they themselves are, and have been for the last decade, trapped in that environment. And they will never escape, for it's all they know.

Around 100 games release on Steam alone EACH DAY.
About 700 games in the week around your release.
AAA release? Successful release AAA or indie, in your genre? BOOM you are done.
Also, not only are you competing with other new releases, but the entire backlog of games on every system a player owns. :)

Take all the "indie success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of devs in that time who have tried (again, 100 games a day, 3000 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "making it."

Steam cut, higher self-employment taxes, no benefits, no retirement, AND to top it all off: Your sales diminish over time, so even if you hit this "mediocrity lottery" you'll have to do it all over again in a couple years.

Pubs barely do any work. They pay a bunch of office employees to do slow crappy work. If you can pick up a phone and speak English you can do what a publisher does for a fraction of the cost and effort.
The problem is most game devs are massively retarded socially and that’s what publishers take advantage of.

If you wanna pay someone 12m to make phone calls for you that’s cool. But publishers do not hold the keys to success. Otherwise they wouldn’t need us, they would just take their money and duplicate it. Just look at a game like Withering Rooms that’s totally fantastic but gets no attention from the publisher and basically flopped. If the dev just made some phone calls and put up some of his own ads it’d be a very different story.

Something gamedevs need to learn that the rest of development figured out a long time ago is that part of your funding/operating cost for anything where real money is involved (12m absolutely counts) is that your paying yourself as a salary as a part of it (could be other compensation structure but whatever). If you get 12 million from a pub, that's going to include your salary as CEO for the 2 or 3 years remaining in development. The money left over at the end of profit are NOT the money you get as an individual unless you're a retard.
>>

>>
>>540515002
Sorry forgot to say that I'm not that anon. All I'm saying is making your own engine might not be what you think, when you make a game without an engine you're basically building an engine as you go, an engine specialized towards that game. It's an idea that is phrased incorrectly, in reality you get an engine as you build your game. To tie that back into what I was saying, you should basically just make a game from scratch without an engine (which will build an engine like I said) because it's a good learning experience.

You ever hear a good movie director say that they're making a movie they want to watch, or a good songwriter say they're making a song that they want to listen to? No. They make movies because they have a story they want to tell others, and they write songs because they have an emotion they want to impart upon to others.

Anyone who would say something like
>I'm making the game I want to play, for me.
suffers from narcissistic personality disorder.
>>

Awesome.
You might be able to get around around that camera getting out of position issue by just loading in a character with camera at every possible position in the game and then hiding all of them and unhiding the active character and activating the camera. So instead of moving the character you just move through all of the available ones. With GPU instancing this shouldn't really be a problem, just have maybe 60 or so every meter, you'd probably still be below nanite on overhead.

as a gamer what is better: initial load screen for the main menu takes a little longer to load which results in a short unskippable 3 second intro cinematic, and then when you actually play the game the town level loads instantly

wishlists are fucking meaningless retard, fuck off

Initial loading should happen during the booting up of the first menu screen, and then when you hit 'continue' the menu disappears and you realize that the faded background was the load-in position and it just comes into view or unblurs or something and you start playing immediately on clicking continue.

I wanted to try my hand at gamedevving for the first time.
I picked Godot as a starter engine, and "Brackeys Beginner Tutorial" as a video tutorial.

I've added in goomba characters that move left and right until they find a wall, or a platform edge, in which case they'll switch directions.
At one point, I implement a reset function that reloads the one game scene.
The problem is, upon reset, the goomba characters will always be facing the opposite direction they did upon the first game load.

What happens is - goombas' physics process are detecting "edges" every reload, and switching directions right off the bat. Again, this only happens on reload.
The load order of platforms and tiles seems to be fine.
The only solution I found is to completely ignore the first couple edge check calls.

Can someone explain to me what's going the fuck on?
I don't even care for a solution I just want to know why this happens.

A simple fix would be to check "!=" rather than "or" (i.e. check for "xor"). Another possible fix is to move the check till after you call move_and_slide. Either way, rather that just blindly flipping on any edge, you should add a check to only flip left if you see a right and and only flip right if you see the left edge.

I would never use ai voice acting in my game. I would never use ai for making assets in my game, but right now, someone asked me a complicated question. I'm considering asking chatgpt how to respond to it, I just want to know the right thing to say, but I don't.

I might abandon my anti ai honor, for the illusion of friendship, anything is better than admitting that I should have never slid into his dms, I would never tell him that I wished I never met him, even though it's true. I became a born again femcel, because I never wanted to feel that embarrassed again. It's hard to say without seeing the entire project structure. How are you reloading? get_tree().reload_current_scene()? If so, it's probably some race condition with how the physics server takes an extra tick to load in on the first load, but doesn't need to be reload to reload just the scene.

Why
>>
>>540536663
You wouldn't see the discrepancy if you add in a title screen. In a real game, you also wouldn't be able to use reload_current_scene(). Instead, you'll want to make a custom scene loader/manager to handle transitions between different scenes as well as loading screens if needed.
>>
>>540535670
Idk I just keep the Blender file, then when I add a new animation I just export it, overwrite the .fbx file in the assets folder and in Unity I add the new animation clip in the import settings.

>>
>>540537053
GTA4 and the force unleashed ran fine for the time. In the DMM demo it's not running very well but that also is being run at a bit higher fidelity than what ended up in the real game.
If you lie and say that destroying DMM scenery dynamically in TFU wasn't fun then you are lying or didn't play it.

I stopped taking ADHD meds. Stopped taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds because they dulled all emotions and made me a zombie. I started drinking copious amounts of coffee, but my progress is still meh. Spend a lot of time on yt, twitter, and 4ch this month as a form of escapism, and work on my game for ~ 1 hour daily. I'm a shutin, so /agdg/ is the only place I can talk to people. Discord gives me anxiety because everything I say is tied to an identity, so I have to watch what I say. I'm bad with social interactions, and people have fucked with me for perceived slights before, so I don't really want to deal with that when I'm bad at understanding social cues.

I'm trying to work on my game for 6 hours today, and put in more hours. It wasn't this bad last month, when I devved ~4 hours a day. I've been depressed lately, so I spent more time on escapist stuff. Nodev is a downward spiral that leads to more nodev. Have to dev to break the cycle.

So
I'm an idea guy to the core, and unironically I have really excellent ideas about games of various ranges to make, cause I really fckn like thinking about game design, and I've been daydreaming "custom worlds" and "worldbuilding" shit since I was a kid which surpasses all of the popular crap like elder scrolls in terms of "cool lore"
BUT.
I fucking hate programming and all of the nerd "logic" and "memorization" based crap with all my being, honest.
However, when I smoke weed.
It makes me think tranny thoughts. Not joking.
And the last time it made me think that I should start a tranny themed game dev twitter account, where I post "nudes" and other such content along with shilling my "gamedev journey".
The nudes could work because, while I'm not fat or anything, my body seems to store fat in my legs and ass, and if I were to shave them, together with my pale skin, it would look quite enticing, especially when wearing lingerie and stuff.
I have an idea for a visual novel that could be made with AI tools very easily, but I wouldn't be able to make it while sober because it would betray my core beliefs, but I could easily make it while high. It has a very high potential to go viral because of its subject matter which I won't disclose here.
So I am at conflict between my sober self and drug addled self. I don't know what to do.
Because I live a pretty shit life, but if I acted out on my weed-affected-thoughts then I could actually reap some decent money.
So if this post has dubs, I will start today by making a twitter acc.
I've already developed my "tranny persona" while I was previously high. She/her/they/them looks like Jill from RE3. When I get high I feel like a bitchess from a survival horror about to get "ambushed"..

This is a very useful .bat file to have, minus the green text:
>ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache
>ie4uinit.exe -show
>taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
>cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
>del IconCache.db /a

>taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
>cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
>attrib -h iconcache_*.db
>DEL /A /Q "%localappdata%\IconCache.db"
>DEL /A /F /Q "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*"
>start explorer.exe
>start explorer.exe %~dp0

it works on windows 10 at least. the last few delete lines are the key, the others didn't help on windows 10 but they might be for other versions of windows. also the ie4uinit.exe hangs if explorer taskbar isn't running, so run explorer.exe with no args to bring the taskbar up and any pending ie4uinit.exe that are just sitting there will complete immediately

The first person question is which first person camera method is the best choice for a Borderlands-style co-op FPS game. A head-bolted camera, or a separate view model. I've been considering the head-bolted camera because I like the idea of having animations and stuff done realistic and replicated for multiplayer to add soul to the game once everything's set up, but I'm still not 100% because the ultimate cost may be too much.

If you are making a game and taking it seriously you should not post or even really be here. What are you hoping to court the edgy 4chan audience when people find out you were showing your game on 4chan's vg board that semi-frequently gets plastered with israeli CP from the final fantasy thread? Not a good idea. If you care, keep it to yourself or join a discord that isn't the one here, and go to game dev conventions. If you're a hobbiest and learning stuff then go off, but otherwise this is not a good or useful place.

That makes sense. I would say don't polish things unnecessarily though. Get a vertical slice style thing that really shows stuff off. Bulking out the whole game if that amount of work is too large to do without funding is a bad use of time, it's the tedium stuff that you or others can just grind out later. Mind you, some nebulous level of polish is also like that so just make sure you're really scoped on the stuff that will sell your game.

Gonna work on the game trailer now. Skurple, a good brother and friend of the Mongol server agreed to voice act this description which will be used in the official trailer.
"You are food. You've always been food. You came onto this world to be consumed, to be devoured by your primordial creators. How unfortunate that you learnt about it at the end of the times, the Ante-Diotoromus. But not all is lost. as I, Agrippa, have taken the task of preserving humanity, and by dozens upon dozens of torturous iterations of building and reconfiguring your flesh, I've become fond of you, Mongol. Now the ardurous task of preserving the humanity within this reality is not completely lost, and in my infinite wisdom I have posessed the ancient knowledge to grasp other realities. I am your God now!"
Here's a sample of a few lines he voiced in the past:

Estimators have it at around
>Gross revenue: $4k ($1.8k - $6.2k)
but Marmo himself said it barely made over $1k. We skewed the review count because a bunch of us here bought it and left positive reviews, so even though has a 52 100% positive reviews, it only ended with a little over 100 units sold.

And yes, Marmo was hoping to support himself on it. He spent a decade to make around $100 per year worked. That said, it was only the EA release, and he could potentially turn it around if he could ever muster up the willpower to finish the game, but he's likely heavily demoralized and hasn't made any substantial progress in around half a year.

search up tooley1998 on kemono so you can download his LayOfTheLand_0.15.1.zip it's pretty good I think . I think that the water especially looks really beautiful. Now, to chop down trees, you CAN punch them to get wood, but, its a bit different. you don't just "earn" wood from smacking them, but once you fell the tree and then break up the trunks, once a segment of wood is "small" enough so like <1 yard/meter in game or so, you can press E on it and the whole object just disappears and you get like 500 micro wood blocks in your inventory. and you can pick up sticks, water plants, and stone pebbles off the ground. To craft ya just pull up your inventory and dump stuff in a pile at your feet then press R on the bundle and you get a radial menu of stuff you can craft from that. It's pretty sick I think, I like how the voxels are like 1/10 the size of in Minecraft it makes the graphics look so much better I recon. BTW there are more MC style games in production than you could shake a stick at and have been for a long time so don't worry about it, its literally just a style, no different than low poly, ps1, pixel art, etc

at the back, the circulars of the fan grills shouldn't be cut off half way like that, they not semi circles they full circles, can you edit it and shrink the texture in / move the UVs out, and if you want the back panel and power plug big you can probably photoshop them larger like rotate the power plug sideways and expand it into the grey space etc, coz there are meant to be fans behind those circulars and so no fans are semi circle they are round because they spin so it looks wrong at first and then you see it and it's like damn, that's totally wrong

as for the cable, its okay to not have them because it can just feel like the cables are there but they are so fin that they aren't visible like the low poly shrunk them away, but you could make a desk mat that it all sits on and draw the cables as black squiggles over the desk mat, even if the player can move the keyboard and mouse around that's okay, plenty of old games had stuff like that which only looked right until you physics interacted with it so its actually kind of authentic in a way

That's an element of it for sure, but not the only one. There's lots of things that make graphics good and right. Lots of devs in these threads can't figure that out though although in different paths. Some devs here are lazy and refuse to get better at art and expect you to care about their mediocre garbage. Some devs have no art skills at all and refuse to hire or work with an artist (even though there's millions of them in your city you could hit up just go to the local art school). Both result in shit.

fix your life three simple steps:
>1. get back on adhd meds; if you're having a bad time with SSRIs, consider some alternative antidepressants (e.g. wellbutrin), otherwise consider going experimental (tianeptine, lion's mane/7,8-DHF, semax spray, etc).

I mean, that says something more about your communications skills than the artists skills. Your picture is so much unnecessary fluff of "jobs". I'm the artist on our project and I do all the art from UI to characters, I also do all the sound design foley, music, etc. game design, I know how to do all the necessary things in the engine for whatever I'm working on (including minor programming tasks), lighting, etc. while also handling the website and other tasks.

Half the things that fall under Art and Animation is the same thing for most games being made. A simple thing like a torch would be Particle, 3D, Lighting, Prop, Model, etc.

If you knew how to properly befriend someone you could easily find someone who is capable of doing more than "1 to 2 things at a mediocre level" which was my whole point of going out and meeting people in like minded circles/events or straight to the source at colleges/conferences.

Of course this is agdg and 95% of your moms took tylenol when they were pregnant so obviously you guys don't know how to make friends.

Wait, are you grassfag? You're actually back? I thought fagtroon was just hallucinating.

I've gone though about a dozen different "artists" for various game jams, including one of my ex-college roommates who has a studio art degree from a top-10-ish US university. I have yet to meet a single artist who was willing to open up the game engine, so any lighting, VFX, etc will always fall to me. Basically, I always have to end up doing the art director's job, which IMO defeats the whole purpose of getting an artist.

I don't see it as a communication issue. I see it as a supply issue. Most people who claim to be programmers will have at least spent years seriously learning programming and are willing to continue to learn new things. Most people who claim to be artists will have some vague experience doodling random shit and or maybe fucking around in blending if I'm really lucky. They don't really understand specs and constraints, and they'll shy away from anything that will require for them to learn a new skill mid-project.

Sounds like someone who isn't a professional artist. I can't imagine any professional artist creating something then letting someone else handle how it looks with lighting and visual effects. Unless they were really apathetic about it.

>Most people who claim to be artists will have some vague experience doodling random shit and or maybe fucking around in blending if I'm really lucky. They don't really understand specs and constraints

So non professionals lol. Any college grad should know how to work in multiple mediums especially if they specifically are trained in digital art/game design. The undergraduate degrees at my local art college include Animation, Game Art & Design(including programming etc.), illustration, Narrative Practice, etc.

I'm telling you, literally just look up your local art colleges game design in general and they probably even list the events and groups that they participate in the area.

What is "old blender" in this case? I don't prefer any version of blender but honestly the new features in like 3.6+ are wayyyy too nice to go back to something prior. The only time I open older versions is for version specific files that don't work properly in newer ones.

i'm not going to lie, while i've been away from /agdg/ i developed a whole-ass career as an expert data annotator (helping train AI chatbots). i spend a lot of time reviewing other people's code, whether stuff sent to chatbots or investigating public repositories, and jonathan blow is 100% right about everything, it is GRIM what passes in career programming culture.

i've been programming for a very very long time, close to 20 years. i don't like working with others, avoid using other's code as much as is possible/reasonable, and i've had this attitude 1000% vindicated. so, in other words, i do like software and make it but games are the most interesting kind of software to make

2.79, I don't use geometry nodes or any of the fancy new tools so I just use what I'm already used to

I'm inspired by Elon Musk futuristic approach

He makes things simple, for example
>Car, should be simple, electric
>Life should be simple, effortless with robots
>Rockets, should cost less and be reusable so that life gets better and becomes more simple

I wish I could make something more simple, more effective, and life improving

yes
>>
>>540582481
Oh man, you're missing out on so many things. Geo nodes is just one of them. 2.79 is so old and trash at this point. Like, you're missing so much stuff and just better features at the most basic level.
>>
>>540582493
Elon Musk hasn't made shit. You must be a child, go to bed.

>>540582656
well then do that. elon musk isn't trying to be futuristic, he's just trying to solve problems.

I don't really care for that stuff since I only use blender for making basic assets.

>>540582178
"AI", assuming you mean ML models, isn't really all that cool. It is basically just a way for a computer to produce phenomenoligical models. The results can be magical, sure. But it is a lot of just sitting around waiting while the computer minimizes errors, assuming you even have the resources to do anything interesting.
>>
>>540582916
I'm telling you. For basic assets, the new versions of blender are incredibly better at it. Every tool is just more powerful and streamlined.

I just looked at all the schools in my city and not a single one of them had anything game specific.

You must live in a really shitty place then. Like, even regular standard state school have 3D modeling classes on top of regular art classes and such.

Hell yeah I just got a working "tug of war" shared world gang turf system working in my 2D crime sandbox game Pixurbia. Basically players can pick a gang once in their save and then do shit to fuck with players who picked the opposite gang, and the winners get benefits while the losers get fucked with. I think I could probably stir some people up to start fighting for one side or the other by making threads about the update on different social media platforms at the same time.

Update might drop in like 3 hours, I have the hardest parts done already

I feel this constantly with almost every stage of the game dev process until the very end.
Only exceptions being large gameplay implementations like combat.
It's like everything is a brush stroke on a painting, but you're looking at with your nose touching the canvas, so you can't see the rest of the painting until it's done.

I live in Houston. I checked Rice, UofH, and SanJac. It appears that we only live for oil and gas. I went to a state school (UT-Austin), and I don't remember if we had much in the way of digital art. It certainly wasn't big. We had a gamedev student org, but it was all programmers out of the CS school. (I didn't hang out much with them, so idk much, but I'm in their discord. I didn't focus on gamedev back when I was at school.)

2 weeks is impossible.

I would like an interesting morally grey male protagonist basicly a chud , not some meta-humor beta male like Scott Pilgrim. Preferably make him uncomfortably real and morally questionable. Even better, set him in a world just as morally bankrupt and uncaring, something people can relate to now that quality of life has dropped so significantly for the middle class. Pic related

Pushing before messing with files isn't passing the skill issue, that's a terrible skill. Push when finished on something regardless, and if you mess with files just ignore changes...

Shame about Piratesoftware, I can see the vision for Heartbound, but releasing it into early access and then causing so much controversy means it will never reach its full potential.
Maybe I should steal some of the ideas?

I mean yeah, I'm sure there are plenty of standalone classes for specific topics, but there aren't any majors or more comprehensive courses. What good will someone who knows just 3D modeling do? You need a broad knowledge base of the entire design space to be a decent art director.

Besides, even if there are classes, how do you find the people who took them? I'm completely uninvolved with this school.

Good comparison. Or like making a mural on a skyscraper, you can't see it until you're done and take some distance from it.

I didn't check what the degrees were but usually any digital art degree covers everything and skill takes you further. The broad knowledge comes from it being a college of art...

That's fine just literally look up events and go to local nerd hot spots. Not sure how many times i need to explain basic levels of living as an adult and finding friends to your autistic ass lol.

>>
>>540586059
I hang out with my local hackerspaces. It doesn't get much nerdier than that, but again, not much gamedev happens there, especially not at a commercially viable level of skill.

It's not a problem of finding friends. Friends are a dime a dozen. The problem is finding competent peer-level teammates with complementary skills that are actually relevant to gamedev who actually have time and energy to work on a project.

I have some money, but I can't pay actual competitive first-world salaries for long enough to sustain a full game project. Unlike the programmers I know, artfags tend to not have more than a few months worth of savings, if even that.

dude, the only shame about loudmouthsoftware was that he decided to start gaming the algorithm and polluting my recommended feed with his look warm and below takes and his fake vox morph mic boom yapping. dude never should have quit working for mcdonalds then we wouldn't have the displeasure of ever seeing or talking about him.

>>540584138
delete the .godot folder, reboot. If still, try making a new project (different name, because ProgramData stuff), copy into it one by one. If still not, well, you'll do a similar process to resurrect your proj anyway, I had to do the same thing when I used that G.U.I.D.E addon and it fucked and raped my project to death, I had to copy all my files out into another fresh project and delete the nodes with references to GUIDE shit to get it working again.

>>540584164

>Sounds like someone who isn't a professional artist. I can't imagine any professional artist creating something then letting someone else handle how it looks with lighting and visual effects. Unless they were really apathetic about it.
Nah that's common, some artists will open in marmoset toolbag to "estimate" how it will appear in engine, but that's it.
Don't forget, there are artists who only sculpt. There are artists who only rig. There are artists who only animate. Integrating produced stuff into the game engine sounds like the job for new hires or apprentices, you don't want the big bucks artists waisting even a single nanosecond on some unreal or unity ass bullshit when they could be creating new stunning visuals and character models in the DCC based on the latest concept arts. It is up to a dude called the Technical Artist to create / vet their workflows to make sure that they aren't using stuff that won't import well, or if they are that there is a way to bake it
