It sounds more like a "come on man, this is an easy game" kinda deal - the writer has said he wanted to write a simple romance story without overcomplicating things, which is nice to hear sometimes. That said, it also sounded pretty boring until recently when they revealed it had a bunch of twists at the end involving the main characters' pasts.In terms of whether those sorts of things spoil anything: No, probably not really. Unless the twist involves some sort of reveal about someone's identity or backstory that makes you go "Wait a minute, that character isn't who I thought they were!" Then yes, it spoils part of their story arc, but not necessarily the whole thing. Usually these kinds of reveals happen towards the end anyway so they don't really count as major spoilers unless you're specifically interested in that aspect of the story.

There's also the issue of pacing: a short work can afford to let the whole cast shine while a long work can't. A short work can afford to take a slower pace.
