Finished Kagetsu Tohya. It definitely wasn't the best thing I've read, but it was a lot of fun! As expected of something called a "Fun-Disc", there wasn't a lot of serious stuff here. 90% of this game is comedic SoL, but it's quality SoL, and the characters went through so much shit it's fun to see them just goof around and have fun. A lot of new characters were introduced, some good, some pointless. I do wish Akira and especially Nanaya Shiki got more screentime, but oh well. The overarching mystery was fun, if simple to figure out, and Len was a very endearing character with an interesting backstory. I also appreciated how KT tied up Tsukihime's loose ends. The Side Stories varied from phenomenal to just ok. Red Moon Demon had a kino fight scene and some interesting plot details, and Tohno Family Con Game was very fun. Nanako-chan SOS kinda sucked, Arihiko deserved better.My main complaint is with the structure of the VN. The extensive choice system worked to illustrate the openness/possibilities of Shiki's dream, but it did so to the detriment of the overall experience. Especially towards the end, it was annoying to have to skip so many scenes to get to new content and it left the entire experience a little disjointed. I think a more semi-linear structure, maybe something like S;G Linear Bounded Phenogram, could'br preserved the VN's "dreaminess" while still feeling like less of a slog than what we got.Takeuchi's art was significantly better this time around. It's a little jarring seeing the old sprites next to the new ones, though. The remastered OST was quite good. Overall, Kagetsu Tohya was a fun FD, but I'd kill myself if I tried to play this with no walkthrough. /ourverdict/... 7/10!Girls - Akiha > Arcueid >= Kohaku > Ciel > Hisui > LenArc grew on me considerably throughout the FD. Len was cute, but couldn't compare to Tsukihime's heroines. Also, I really wanted to see Akiha in a qipao. Next is Dies Irae!!!

Then again Muramasa also has a pretty bad anime adaptaiton compared to the original visual novel. Which means most of them aren't worth adapting into anime because there's not enough action to make them interesting. But yeah I agree that it's generally a bad idea to try to adapt stuff from those genres into anime. Most of those kinds of stories just don't translate well. Also, considering that even anime studios themselves prefer making anime based on popular manga instead of trying to adapt random obscure VNs. It'd be very unlikely for an anime studio to bother doing an adaptation for a VN unless said VN is translated and super popular among otaku communities. Most of the routes in Kinkoi were nothing special and you only needed to read Sylvie and then true route (and then the fandisc). Looks like the same sort of thing here where most of the routes are irrelevant. Seems like Hibiki is the equivalent of Sylvie in this game, where the plot actually progresses a little in set up for the true route. We shall see. If you'd asked me if I thought Kinkoi was good while I was reading one of the generic routes I would have said no, but after finishing the game I would have said yes. Hopefully this ends up the same way, if only a little.
