Yeah.If you are you could settle for a Retroid Pocket 5 or an AYN Thor instead. Those will also play Switch games just fine for the most part.
>>542770468I apologize, since I can't test this on Windows myself, I've spent hours searching the web for a proper answer so turns out the solution is using DSOAL and OpenAL soft, bad news is, it might be a Linux only thinghttps://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=83198>It currently works best in Linux KVM>It is passable on Windows 10 WHPX, but not as great as Linux KVM. Sounds would hiss & pop sometimes and may take a while to recover. Tuning QEMU audiodev backends can help but that would be system specific. There is not many audio backends available on Windows.

In those SH3 shots that seems less like interlacing issues and more like some sort of ghosted frame buffer/bloom from a res increase.
Now that I look closer I can see the interlacing patterns. I would guess that's in motion, and I suppose this MAD algorithm was just really fucked up before. If I recall, ciggy's Torneko issue was related the MAD deinterlacing too.
>>542782386Have no idea someone posted it on discordI did some testing with Tenchu games and the improvement is more noticeable in motion at high res, it looks more stable
I just tested Silent Hill and didn't see a difference, it looks like that guy took a pic at different frame.
Trying out vita3k. Surely a simple game like digimon cyber sluts wouldn't still have issues.Opengl has graphical artifacts everywhere and vulkan gives me a vertex explosion. At this point even azahar is a better choice to emulate.

Yeah maybe I'm being dumb (probably) but I'm still just finding FTP to be the least fussy way to get shit on to the guest. Vfat is way too limited, haven't figured out the directory->qcow2->mount + guest access way just yet.
It really is the anti-86box in every way. The performance is there but it's by Linux jerks, for Linux jerks. It's usable but it resists being used every step. It really is just meant for industrial/mission critical rollouts and not at all there for fun.
Well, Xemu is proof that it can be tamed and made user-friendly, it just needs someone to give enough of a fuck to do so.
lol, just tried increasing dsound's latency to ludicrous levels, still the same ol problems. Guess I'll try it when I have Linux installed some time.

I have a RG505 that I bought long ago, cost me like $90, it's pretty decentI would only buy a new device like that if it had 2 screens to play 3DS and I'll wait at least 2 more years, because the phone (and CPUs and GPUs) chips keep getting insanely better every year (because of TSMC, not because of the chip manufacturers)this is like the golden age to wait to purchase tech
My advice would be to chose an OS, android or windows/linux and buy the cheapest device you can that will play the stuff you want and then wait like 3 years and buy a new one that will run all the stuff at 120hz 1080p, because those devices will exist by then at cheap/midrange prices

>>542832408>>542853756Yeah, I've used stuff like OSFmount/Imdisk for PC emulators before. It's good for making packs, as you say, but it sucks to have to shut the session down, mount, throw stuff on, and start'er up again. As a Win-peasant it still seems like FTP is the best way to add stuff mid-session, as vfat is limited to 512mb and I had trouble getting it to recognize new files in it on the fly. Apparently SMB works but I've had no luck with my 98 guest<->host with it. SMB is fucking funky and always one setting away from working on every new OS/setup I try, so I'm sure it's just me.

GBC + Gambatte. Ideally you want to set interframe blending in the core to 'simple' as devs did leverage the shitty pixel response on the GC/GBC screen to make transparencies. Color correction off in the core settings, the shader handles it.\retroarchfolder\config\gambatte\https://files.catbox.moe/s1a290.7z
https://files.catbox.moe/ixtoq7.7zPlace in \retroarchfolder\config\gambatte\, it will then take any ROMs in a folder named 'gameboy' and apply this tint+grid instead of the GBC shader. GBA+GBC's screens had a darker grid, GB had a lighter one. You can rename the .slangp file to match your Gameboy ROM directory, like gb.slang for /gb/ for example.

Hi folks, I've used PCXS2 a decent amount in the past but I'm really rusty now, been a few years.I got Maximo: Ghosts to Glory looking how I wanted it, but then I heard that there was a widescreen patch. I tried installing it, but it seems to have just stretched everything horizontally, unlike in videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-gdETAPqbE where the UI is anchored and the same size as before, and you simply get more screen space. I'm not even sure what to show as far as current settings to make my question easier to answer, so if anyone can help me out here I'll provide anything asked for.I guess I can start with a screenshot from the video with proper widescreen (bottom) and a screenshot from my game that's just stretched (top)

man 3ds emulation is so unfullfilling, I'm gonna have to end up getting one of the chink handhelds with 2 screens because on PC it's just not goodbut it needs to be 2 big screens and it needs to be an x86 chip unless I decide I want that device only for 3ds, I rather buy something that can play pc games too thothe perfect world is valve steamdeck 2 being a 2 screens device and big device as it is now and releasing in like 4 years when the chips actually make sense because these z1 z2 chips amd makes are terrible

I like that you can tell what shit emulator someone's using by the bugs. That thing where their legs are glitching out happens in duckstation when you using HW renderers at native res with Nvidia. It's a maybe 3 or 4 year old regression that still has never been fixed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OOXdoKmBaA&t=269s
It's not just that game. I'd say it happens in about 30% of all games that uses sprites. Multiple people besides me reported it but I have no idea if their reports are still on the list since it's member's only access now.
>>543090932Does Lomax have any issues? If it's made by Euros, I'd have to imagine there's at least a few edge cases that Duckstation can't handle properly.

>>543033563>how can i best emulate it?>what's teh best emulator? There isn't one, you'll have to use at least 2; Eden and Ryubing.A lot of people experience a crash in one of the early cutscenes, and to solve it they had to use Eden v0.0.3-rc2, save after that cutscene and move the save over to Ryubing.Eden can read and use the game's first update (which is worthless because it just enables the online mode) whereas Ryubing crashes if you have it installed in it.Both emulators have vertex explosions, although they're a lot less frequent on Ryubing.

there's a french guy on youtube that does switch modding and runs his games are far higher mem, cpu and gpu clocks and the games don't break, I think emulators should take note of his speeds and write the emulator to expect those clocks instead of lower default ones and games might run better

>>543145604Various reasonsSome games have speed running exploits patched out in later versions (DOOM 2016 had one IIRC)other times its a matter of some patch versions having undesirable changes or other reasons to use an older versionLike GT6 for the PS3, While you can emulate the latest 1.06 patch version, 1.02 or something is version most people use because 1.04 severely hurts emulated performance.
>>543146050*nearly every retro gameinb4 the stupidly baroque and unemulated ones like Nuon and somewhat harder to emulate machines like Xbox. You can still mod/ODE/flashcart nearly any retro system, though.

Hoping to try qemu3dfx properly in Linux now that I have the basics of my CRT setup nearly ironed out. That's probably gonna need a whole day or a morning to figure out at least, though. I hope it's as easy as aur/pacman to get it, a pkg, or some otherwise simple compiling process.

>>543148137I think Linux will grow into being the thing that works, or works well enough, in time. Even with this nightmare, stripped down Arch distro I'm using, most things I vibe up in grok get me by. As for Wintel game emulation in general... I guess when WoW64 dies Linux will be in the same situation. Wrappers/patches, emulators + virtualization as a fallback. QEMU3dfx could very well be the thing but it's just so fucking sweaty and anti-user. It has the bones for it, it just needs a Stenzek to make it less AIDS to use.
resulation
>>543149090Yeah, feels like we're in the early XQEMU days of Xbox emulation for Wintel stuff. Peoplle used to say there's no point, until they see the convenience of emulating Y2K games in a new way; not just sticking to PS2 or GameCube versions...
>>543151298To be totally fair, in many cases those are the best version. Lead platform is key. Lots of games developed for consoles first were missing effects because of GPU arch differences (that were either physically insurmountable or the port devs were too lazy to rework using DX), rumble, or had otherwise assy gamepad support on PC. Anything on PC first sucked ass on consoles because of the UI/UX controls being designed for a desktop setup and memory starvation.
old games can just be patched and updated and run native on your pc
>>543147306>I hope it's as easy as aur/pacman to get it, a pkg, or some otherwise simple compiling process.btw that takes me back to messing around with compiling QEMU and KVM for GPU passthrough. I was super curious about how it stacked up against virtualization detection tricks. Good times, honestly;https://youtu.be/5ndkD3fk7fk
honestly? lossless scaling for emulation so you can play locked 30/60 games at 120.haven't tried it, sounds like a great idea, specially if your hardware prints those 60 frames with ease.
>>543154952I've used it. It has some goofy artifacts now and then and adds a frame or two of lag, but it's not as bad as you'd think. It's a fun option to have in any case.
>>543154952Unrelated to emulation, but look into Optiscaler. It can add FG to any game with DLSS/FSR, and can change any game's upscaling from DLSS to FSR/XeSS and vice versa. It works on any semi-modern card, even pre-20 series Nvidia and AMD
>>543155956(cont) another thing about this that puts it above LSFG, is that it uses the game's motion vectors and renders in-engine instead of post processing. This results in less lag and artifacts.
if we can make 30 fps games run at 60 with patches why cant we make them run at 120
>>543157956Most 60 patches have some subtle fuckups that either don't affect the game/visuals or don't affect them enough to matter. Many have side effects that many just cope with. 120 exacerbates all those issues further. There are PC games that start fucking up once you hit certain framerates.
Many probably could run at 120fps, though. Just saying it just increases the odds of problems.
