This is a very interesting take on eggman. I'm surprised how much I like this. Eggman acts very much like an intelligent stubborn child who doesn't think very far ahead, and when things start getting out of hand, or specifically out of his control, it makes him nervous. I like this emphasis that he wants to "Beat" Sonic, not kill him, and everything that looks lethally dangerous only looks that way to us, like Eggman subconsciously knows it wouldn't be enough to do him in. Sonic, from my perspective at least, feels like the "True" Mickey with both the Donald side and the Goofy side... with the extra addition of 'Coolness' that takes the concept further into through the Shonen evolution of characters like Goku.
