Is aislop capsule really, truly gonna kill my game, if all art in game is real?
if incremental games are so popular but every one ive seen is 2d then i'll just make a 3d one.

>>548644573Imagine making a piece of fiction and including women who are not idealized. It is the absolute, undeniable truth that NOBODY (including women) is interested in seeing this. It has been proven time and time again. Even studies on women's brain activity when looking at other women reveals they see them as objects like normal people (men) do.The world is, unfortunately, full of boot ugly whores so media should provide a healthy escape from that by showing you a world where every woman has Body Type A, maybe with a breast slider.

there's this amazing old engine called BYOND that somehow made making multiplayer games identical to making a single player game. never do you have to touch netcode at all. and it handles 120+ players and like 5000 NPCs somehow, even though it was made in the 90s.i think whoever manages to take their same model, and make a 3d engine where everything is networked by default without a game dev having to do -literally anything- (which seems impossible i know but somehow BYOND did it), they'd succeed massively
Time is almost up to get into our last winter showcase, The /v/erdict 2! You have until December 7th to get in. Rules and requirements on our site: https://thev3expo.com/submit/ Some things to note for 2026: >The show format will be changing >We will have new and different requirements from previous shows that should allow for more games to be submitted >As mentioned we will be going back to 1 show a year I'll have more to say after our show airs on December 20th. Hope to see you there!
>>548646298also im continually impressed with these old engines and old programmers, they must have been geniuses. like Lineage II the MMO handling like 500 players on screen at once all running around on 56kbps internet hosted on servers 1/10th as fast as your phone. how?? modern coders must be total ass.modern games cant even display 12 npcs on screen without starting to have problems

I honestly think AI is useful, but so far has been more an overhyped shit than what It can really do.This was a model made with hunyuan3D from an illustrious picture. So far is cool to gen this in like 5 minutes, but there's still a lot of work to be made by manually retopoing and texturing. But even then, I think is useful to help make a high quality model cheaper and faster.

Devs could tune down HP in your hard modes or add extra firepower like turrets/rockets for beefy foes.2. Even when specifying this, the errors persist.I don't think there is enough data for them to refer to to provide good responses, and Godot is constantly changing and replacing shit as it develops so the clanks can't catch up.

>>548649950>>548650323>>548650801>>548652256Notice how everything you people have mentioned in relation to 'art' is only about technique. There's no mention of any meaning or any ideas being conveyed through the art, no mention of how when perfect technique is achieved it instantly becomes boring because its just a reflection of reality, and art is not reality, it's supposed to be a bridge into the collective unconscious through which ideas and concepts can be given form and made conscious.Programmers and other technical people always want to optimize everything and that doesn't work with art, maybe that's why people are so hostile to AI art aside from the fact that it threatens some people's livelihoods of drawing furry scat porn. Sometimes art is about being inefficient and imperfect, pic related was posted on reddit recently and did the rounds on social media, people liked it and more proficient artists commented on the tricky angle and how to render it better. It was a whole thing, very wholesome and good-natured. This shit drawing was more significant than a perfectly-rendered AI drawing, in that case nobody would have cared, it would have been yet another technically perfect image in a sea of technically perfect images, but in this case people did care because this represents somebody striving to be better, someone who saw part-way through their drawing that it was all going horribly wrong but still they persisted and published it. And that same phenomenon is part of the charm of some indie games, we say a game has 'soul' when we see that someone is trying their very best to make something and maybe their reach exceeds their grasp and the result isn't a perfectly polished sanitized interchangeable unremarkable clone of something that already exists.AI fags can never understand art if they only see it in terms of technique and sufficiently accurate rendering of a subject. You will be met with overwhelming indifference no matter what you create.

At least with smaller games it's an in and out process that is rather quick and can teach me a wide variety of the development process in a shorter time frame. Content creation for 1 year vs 2 months. That and sometimes they're interesting ideas that look fun to play (not make, making stuff is hard). But at least the quick turnaround period of 6-24 months means I'm not gonna be stuck with a flop longterm if it turns out that way.>>548656797The alternative would be waging for decades. BOOM you are done. Also, not only are you competing with other new releases, but the entire backlog of games on every system a player owns. :)Take all the "indie success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of devs in that time who have tried (again, 100 games a day, 3000 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "making it."Steam cut, higher self-employment taxes, no benefits, no retirement, AND to top it all off: Your sales diminish over time, so even if you hit this "mediocrity lottery" you'll have to do it all over again in a couple years.>He thinks that indie gamedev can provide a sustainable primary income in 2025HahahahahaH O B B YOBBY

>>548663560People barely pay for original (i.e. non-established) VNs anno 2025 even if they are lewd & eastern, it's a dying art and I recommend you pivot to something similar with extremely minimal 2D-only gameplay, i.e. Undertale, since the masses appear to find that infinitely more palatable despite being essentially the same. But yes, people did buy & play that western Sonic Detective VN with 0 porn. Some old greats like Nitro+ (Demonbane/Muramasa/Hanachirasu) tried to return to their roots with Nitro Origin and that VN got like 100 reviews on Steam last I checked. When you sell a VN you are targeting the sole demographic on earth most likely to pirate your game (25-40, nerdy channers), you also immediately lose the tiktok audience unless it's so "disturbing & twisted" they can pose just by flaunting they know of it (Saya phenomenon this year).
>>548664027Edit:It's still possible to have 4096 objects mostly lag-free by just using blender 1-object objects; the remaining unity 100+-object objects made it lag; but in the test right now, by replacing them, it worked! And even better, regarding big objects, my limit was 19200 anyways, so it really seems like i will be fine with just one simple optimization step! (i only do non-demanding things anyways; i am sure i wont ever add anything more demanding to the game, as efficient calculation is my top priority)

>>548668227Can anyone disprove this?
>>548661920Damn I'm jealous of that setup. No way I could pull that off in my country since everyone's extroverted as fuck.
>>548670826Influencer exposure is not random, but it is also not a single unified system. Large creators generally filter games through personal networks, agencies, or existing community interests. Smaller creators rely on discoverability patterns shaped by platform algorithms, novelty, and timing. None of these channels operate like a pure lottery, but none guarantee results either.Independent outreach can work when the pitch aligns with what a specific creator already covers. A concise trailer, a playable demo, and a clear angle increase the probability of engagement. Contacting adjacent creators—people in the same niche but with smaller audiences—is a more accessible route than attempting to reach top-tier streamers. This is not a bypass of the system, but a realistic use of the strata that already exist.Marketing without influencers is possible but requires consistent output. Devlogs, short gameplay clips, mechanical showcases, and update logs can accumulate interest when posted on high-velocity platforms. The effect is gradual rather than explosive, but it is a valid path independent of agency networks or personal connections.

>>548668717he will not, as he's making shit up.He thinks that big influencers are sitting around waiting to be told what to do by an agency that owns them like livestock.>Ok Asmongold you're covering BallXPit this week, don't forget to shit on Hasan and give your milquetoast everyman opinion on current thing. This fantasy is completely understandable, because it's kind of how the old world of publishing and access media worked, it also gives losers a convenient coping mechanism for why their game flopped, that being that they just aren't a nepobaby with the right connections. In reality, youtubers and twitch streamers play games that improve their viewer count, you don't have to pay them to play the game, they'll just play it because they are already incentivized to do so. For different streamers this means different things, because the best streaming game is not the best or most engaging game to play. Some like Northernlion play casual and roguelike games, or even free html5 games, because it's something to have on in the background while he interacts with chat and just talks about stuff not related to the game. How do these streamers find something to play? Their chat asks them. It's that simple. Make a game people are interested in, they pester their influencers to play the game, bigger influencers pick it up if it's interesting enough. It's an organic bottom-up process, the only gatekeeper is you making a good game. Sure there are backroom deals and payments for influencers to play games, but if that game doesn't improve their channel's metrics, they won't keep playing it for free, they'll take the money and go back to playing what they want to play. But maybe I'm wrong and the inner circle secretly controls every influencer on the internet. It's always nepobabies all the way down, there's no such thing as game quality, no such thing as organic interest or deserved success. In which case why are you even here?

Even without AI programmers all use libraries, frameworks, game engines, operating systems. Every modern program stands on top of a massive pyramid of other people's work.Art is meant to be meaningful, to create art is to participate in the divine act of creation, even if it's a child's finger painting, an mspaint drawing, the process of its creation is important. Also tons of artists get money by drawing absolute soulless low effort dogshit and porn, and so the soulless low effort dogshit porn market is being taken away from them by AI so they're mad.I'm a programmer main and even I can understand this.

I'm living in Brazil where 1 USD is about 6 BRL. In my small rural town, I only need like $500 a month to get by comfortably. I checked out Steam Review Guesser and found that decent games probably won't be huge hits, but they won't be total flops either. The strategy you mentioned is unlikely to pan out well and the requirement of making a game in 1 years time sounds exhausting.>wage during development>develop game 1>yields 1 years expenses for living and costs associated with making 1 more game>spend a year making the next game>it flops>little money gained>back to wagingBelow is the model I want to achieve, but gamedev seems to be an all or nothing type of thing you either end up with a success that's 10+ years income or you got something that made a few months income, on a game that took 2 or 3 years to make.>neet>make game 1 over 2 years>it recuperates all living expenses>it recuperates the costs of developmemt>it generates 4 years income as excess>begin game 2>spend 2 years>it doesn't do well and only recuperates 2 years of expenses + it's own costs, no profit>my runway remains at 4 years time before running out of moneyAt least then I've got some sense of safety.

Minecraft released in a different world man. Forums and independent websites were still alive and thriving so you weren't at the mercy of silicon valley's anti-human social media algorithms.Citing Minecraft as an example of how to successfully make a game is the equivalent of boomers telling you to walk in and look the boss in the eye and give him a firm handshake to get a job.
