Imagine an ARPG that played like darkest dungeon or valheim, but had a semi-large open world hub that served as your main base of operations. You have a set storyline quest where you have to help a town fend off some evil foe or some shit and like in poe you unlock some ancient technology that lets you go after the enemy at the end of the storyline. Then you have your home base full of merchants, gardening ingredients for potions, smithing tables etc, and you bring loot from the other world back to build up your home town. Instead of it being this pseudo-souls like game, it plays more like an over-the-shoulders bullet hell reminiscent of 90s era arena shooters and a mix of dark messiah - punchy, fast, lethal, jumping, dashing, teleporting and the occasional boss arena where you slow down and have to place your utilities like totems or barricades/shield walls/bubbles, summoned golems to defend you. Instead of a short term potion system you have a long term potion and food system made from ingredients dropped from enemies, and currency items like in poe1 that serve as the backbone for a crafting system that presents itself like a juiced up version of rog, which upgrades over time as you gain access to new things to power his smithery.

My old man reflexes aren't what they used to be. Anyways I think I got lucky with some sweet critical hits near the end and downed him! Going to take on Lachlann tomorrow after I pick up my wife's kid from football practice. Super excited to reach Geonor this weekend. Couldn't beat him last league but I'm feeling much stronger now. One thing I have noticed about poe2 is there doesn't seem to be new emerging fun builds as the league progresses. In other games there's almost always one or two cool builds that people don't figure out at first and it gives the league new life.
