PoE 2 didn't need to exist. I really enjoyed how you had to learn boss mechanics and patterns, that made the battles very cinematic. However, that style of gameplay clashes against the whole part of the game where you run across huge, empty maps being swarmed by mobs. The mobs hit too hard and had too much HP, it was a slog.Things improved a little nowadays, but if you don't want to spend ages trying to kill a bunch of useless mooks, you need to hyper focus on offensive options and, well, that makes it so the cool, cinematic bosses die in less than a minute and you just ignore the mechanics. GGG somehow thought it was a good idea to merge two opposing design philosophies and it would work. It didn't. You want people who like the action gameplay and slower pacing, she you have those who want to clean maps and one shot bosses. If you please a side, you screw over the other.The result? PoE1 with flashier abilities, less build variety, and less content.

This is my first time playing so I don't get all the drama but I'm doing lvl15 maps and nothing that is an upgrade ever drops. One person told me to craft but buying any craft item that is deterministic is almost as expensive as finished items. Is Abyss stuff the go to, I've just been doing random extra content in maps as they come.
