I have two, but it's more on me quitting when a certain scene happened. One was BG2 when I was not given an option to bury Khalid or interact with his corpse at all and then Jaheira yelling at me about him after we got out. Ticked me off that I quit and didn't come back. The other was MOTB with the hagborn guy. It was the scene with his mother and he talked about just how much he hated her and blahblahblah. Then the cutscene bugged out and he started talking about how much he forgives her. Quit right after since I was made to believe the story was the selling point.

I keep putting Disco Elysium off because the reputation its gotten as a far-left soap box type game. I don't even know if that's true about it, it may be entirely wrong and actually good, but its successfully kept me from wanting to engage with it. Maybe one day I'll be bored enough but I've not reached there yet.

Arcanum also has an interesting setting and writing but is a lot more janky than Planescape
>My friend has baldurs gate 1 and 2 for ps2 and I could wire them to video projector and good stereos
You could jump ahead and play BG2 skipping BG1. BG2 has a lot more personality. That's what I did years ago. People here will say "nooo you gotta play BG1 first" like it's some chore, but you don't.

It's a really great game, you should play it someday, if you like something more character/story driven. Good tone and writing too.

It was written by a bunch of insane communists but it does basically trash every single political philosophy because the insane communists that wrote it are also nihilists. Wrong. The SW universe would better off if the Force atrophied and died and the reins of history were put back in the hands of mortals and not superhuman autists and sociopaths.
>>
>>553025845
Mira is great. Best gunslinger in the game, one of the best skill monkeys, can walk through mines, can shoot rockets. Her voice acting is excellent, she's a fun contrast compared to characters like Kreia and Atton who are secretly assholes: she's secretly a good person with a heart of gold.

She's also one of the few party members who has character arc resolved at the end of the game

It's completely irreverent save for the communists which they paint as either insane incels that's still fighting a war that was lost ages ago or idealists that are doomed to fail. Everyone kinda gets their fair shake since even Measurehead can have a decent heart to heart talk with you about things. Even the "gay thoughts" one is useless and the "feminist thoughts" just weirds out the women you can use that "skill" on. It is just reading though and if you don't care for the story, you'd just slide off.

Kerias whole philosophy born out of coping since she a B tier force user powerwise and not a S tier one. She thinks if the force didn't exist she'd be at the top instead of a B tier advisor bitch (if the force didn't exist she'd would still just be some b-tier teacher/advisor bitch). Kreia didn't care about good vs evil, she resented the fact that every living creature is ultimately just part of the Force's design and it regularly uplifted or condemned people according to it's own design, and we're all just pawns. She hates the jedi for willingly serving such an entity, and she hates the sith for their delusional belief they're not just another cog in it and how they are so self-destructive as well.

She has a point somewhat, since we're never really in control of anything and everything is ultimately in accordance with some omnipotent authority figure, and a person who believes in self-efficacy would naturally have a problem with that, but she's ultimately wrong because the Force isn't really a sentient being, you're not serving a particular liege who has attitudes and opinions, it's a force of nature. It's more like being angry at electricity or gravity, it's just pointless and you're not going to change anything, and you don't really have anyone to be mad at. Even if you got mad at Sir Issac Newton or Nikolai Tesla as representatives of gravity or electricity, you're not actually touching these forces of nature themselves.

Kreia is just a bitter old Sith who is angry that a deity-like figure exists and is above her. You could make this whole thing a religion allegory if you tried, there are lots of people, including Satan himself, who believed that humans should be free and in charge of their own fate, while religious people don't mind being servants of God and understand that he's above us. It's the fundamental dichotomy. It's essentially hubris vs humility, which is Kreia's problem as well.

I've seen a thousand misunderstandings of Kreia and kotor over the years. Hopefully this helps.

>>553031082
tower of time
>>
>>553029742
After a lifetime of pondering and research, I find it more likely that some sort of entity that doesn't follow the rules does exist. We know that our universe is the result of an explosion of a hypercompressed singularity that is the leftover matter and antimatter of the previous universe collapsing, and that this process happens an unlimited number of times going back forever, but this knowledge of how our universe began simply introduces the question of what started this recurring process. "It always existed and has no start point" is not scientifically satisfying. So if there exists a thing that doesn't follow the rules of starting and stopping in time, or being made from matter or antimatter, that set this process of infinitely collapsing and exploding universes in motion the first time, then you can call that thing whatever you want. Some people call it god. But obviously I'm not going to convince you of anything in a short 4chan post, so we can completely skip your assertion that god doesn't exist in real life and just focus on the star wars half of the discussion.

Which is what I already said. Kreia does have a point from a certain point of view that it's a valid desire for people to be in charge of their own fate rather than being cogs in the design of an omnipotent authority figure, but she's ultimately wrong that you can do anything about it, and she's wrong that it's inherently a bad thing. Her opinion is that it's a bad thing, but objectively speaking, the Force generally seeks balance and is generally not overbearing. The galaxy mostly runs itself, and the highest profile cases where the Force has to intervene, is when a dark side user is throwing off the balance. If you look through the entirety of star wars history, it actually is a mortal getting too big for his britches causing trouble by using the dark side, and it's a neutral or light side user to puts things back into balance, with the help of the force empowering them for the task.

nta, The Battle of Ruusan is an example of the light side being out of balance, not counting the Anakin situation. It could be argued that the sith instigated both cases, but at least one of them was prophesized and the other I think was contrived by the force acting through the two major force-using cults of the galaxy.

>but she's ultimately wrong that you can do anything about it, and she's wrong that it's inherently a bad thing. Her opinion is that it's a bad thing, but objectively speaking, the Force generally seeks balance and is generally not overbearing. The galaxy mostly runs itself, and the highest profile cases where the Force has to intervene, is when a dark side user is throwing off the balance. If you look through the entirety of star wars history, it actually is a mortal getting too big for his britches causing trouble by using the dark side, and it's a neutral or light side user to puts things back into balance, with the help of the force empowering them for the task.
those younglings HAD to die, for balance of course! and many crises in SW were set off because of light side users being stupid.

Disciples Liberation and Disciples Domination.
Star Wars Outlaws (not a crpg but it has rpg elements)
In the near future, Witcher 4.
MaleMC is significantly more common than FemaleMC, and of course custom player character is more popular than both.

>>553030817
Correct. The Force desires status quo and to mostly be left alone.

This is related to another common misconception, which is that there are two sides of the force to begin with. There is just the force, and then there are people who are misusing it by bending it to their own will which we refer to as "the dark side". "The dark side" is a corruption of the force that is the result of people's use of it. George Lucas himself originally said there is just the force, and that sith are "like a tumor on the force". There isn't really a "light side" in the literal sense, that's just the force in balance. All imbalance comes from people.

>>553031062
She's simply a true believer in her philosophy. Her being ultra priveledged both in life and the force makes her beliefs more substantial. She's not just an underpriveledged person raging at her own life, she actually had every advantage and still believes the force shouldn't exist, which lends credence to validity and honesty of her beliefs. It's easy to say your country should becomes communist if you have nothing and only benefit from that, but if you're a rich person who just truly believes in communism and you're willing to give up your privilege on principle, then you're a true believer. I like Kreia for this reason. She is a well written character, even though I disagree with her. Which is part of why the people who love Kotor, love Kotor.

problem with kreia is that her philosophy doesn't make any sense in her own universe

the closest real world philosophical equivalent of the force is "Para Brahman" from Advaita Vedanta
which says that the entire universe , time and reality itself is party of this one supreme entity/consciousness everything that exists and that will exist is part of this
In our universe it's just one of many possible explanations for the nature of reality

In her universe it's a reality
so if keria's plan worked at best she would have performed what's effectively a castration on galactic scale
where every living creature that was once part of this "force" would now be effectively soulless
or
worse since everything in star wars universe is part of the force it would mean that the entire universe would collapse and reality itself would seize to exist

either way her plan was extremely stupid the longer you think about it

Regill, looking into the distant rising sun: "Kenabres has fallen."
Yaker grows pale: "P-paralictor?"
Regill begins assembling goods and amor: "Prepare the men. We shall bring them vengeance."
Yaker completes the fastening of Regill's armor upon his mount.
Regill: "And we shall bring them Wrath."
Yaker continues, his hands shaking as the weight of the news settles in him.
Regill grasps his hand, firm as his superior, but gently as his lover.

Good. You opened this message. This isn't actually dargonus military command. They're busy tending to what's left of their planet.

So you survived our fight on Dargonus. You're not as weak as I thought. But never forget that your best wasn't good enough to stop me. Now an entire planet is dying because you lacked the strength to win. The legend of Rogue Trader needs to be re-written. I hope I'm there for the last chapter. It ends with your death. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

Does the term CRPG come from TTRPGfags who aren't able to accept that people think of video games before table top games when they hear RPG?
>>
>>553068786
No it came up in the 90s to distinguish western rpgs (made for PCs) from japanese ones (made for consoles)
>>
>>553068786
Other way around. In the 80's and 80's when the genre was defining itself, when people said "play an rpg" most people were referring to tabletop. So the videogame rpg put "computer" in front of the name to differentiate.

>>553069309

Playing Fallout 1 (still trying to enjoy it, but I feel like something's not clicking yet for me)
I just got the plasma pistol from Necropolis, and seeing how quickly I got it (I didn't do many side quests) I'm considering starting over with the build I actually wanted to play, and just relying on companions, speech and a small guns skill book to get past the early game. (it took me about 6 hours, mostly of talking to people and wandering around trying to find what I'm missing)

The only thing I want to know is how easy this thing is to keep loaded at where I'm at.
is this around when I'd start seeing enemies dropping energy cells?
>>
>>553075119
Super Mutants and super mutant areas is where you'll be getting power cells from. Good luck killing them without the weapon

>>
>>553076960
Run around the coast until you get a super mutant random encounter and try to kill them with your plasma pistol and dogmeat. 2-3 is a minimum group you can get. You'll be fighting dozens of them at the same time. Post a screenshot how it went.

>>
>>553076960
>Or by "the weapon" do you mean something specifically for Super Mutants?
No, I mean any weapon. Super mutants can be a bitch your first time around, if you're not shooting them in the eyes. And the first game in general is harder than the second one. Either way, good luck
>>
>>553077592
Owlkeks should do a horror game. They get the vibe
>>
Aerie is pregnant.
I'm pretty sure this means she's now a contender for the Throne of Bhaal.
>>
>>553078405
>And the first game in general is harder than the second one.
I wouldn't say that. At least Fallout 1 has a more forgiving learning curve at the beginning and you can get your hands on a decent gear relatively quickly.
In Fallout 2, you are given a spear and told to get fucked, every armor and gun costs a fortune and everybody in Klamath hates you, so it takes you a while to get going your first time around.
>>
>>553077370
>>553078405
I still think there's something I'm missing about all this.
The Plasma Pistol is still a decent weapon, at least compared to the shotgun I've got, and the few other weapons I've checked out this early.

Is it just that you're not expected to actually kill some until a few more combat encounters?
>>
>>553079269
Fine, maybe. I've just played it so many times that I know it practically by heart. You can get you first 2 guns in Klamath if you know what you're doing. And I never found the Temple of Trials to be hard, even on my first playthrough. But I usually run 9-10 agi builds, so kiting or sneaking past everything Arroyo had to offer wasn't hard
>>
>>553079962
The hard part was going straight to Toxic caves to save Smiley with just you, Sulik, and the shitty 10mm you get in Klamath. I dunno if it is a bug, or working as intended but for some reason the geckos in toxic caves go straight after you most of the time ignoring Sulik, so kiting them while Sulik deals damage is the winning strategy
>>
I missed it. What ended up being RPG of 2025?
>>
>>553079651
Well, the super mutants are the end game enemy, so no, you're not expected to just kill them early on. If you get lost and run into one of their patrols that's the game telling you to go explore elsewhere

Not sure if Fallout New Vegas counts as a crpg, but I've never played it due to how everyone just praises it as this unparalleled masterpiece with no flaws at all, and thus I could never enjoy playing it, as I would just focus on the bad parts. Also its fans are obnoxious, just like Witcher 3 fans
Basically always happens with these sorts of games that the internet has a hard-on for. It's for that same reason that I'm only now starting BG1, though at least with isometric crpgs (and VTMB) even the people who love them can recognise the shortcomings, so it's not as bad
I do still fear that I won't end up liking the game as much as many others have, since I've probably developed some sort of subconsious idea of how the game is supposed to be
>>
>>553079962
I actually played Fallouts backwards, 2 first and 1 later and I remember having a miserable time in Fallout 2 the first time around. I had a speech/gun build, so that fucking spear was useless, every gun in Klamath was ridiculously expensive and I was barely scraping by to get my hands on a leather jacket and leather armor was completely out of my reach. Also, in order to get anywhere I needed Sulik with me and I was already broke.
By contrast, Fallout 1 gives you a gun for free at the start, it's very easy to get your hands on a leather armor and one visit to Khans later I was swimming in guns, medkits and caps. It felt like Christmas.
Granted I was 15 back then, but I still remember my pains near the beginning of FO2.

It's Baldur's Gate 2 that people adore. Not that BG1 is bad, it's just that the sequel outclasses it. BG1 it's still worth playing though, even if it's the rougher experience.

F2 tutorial was a filter meme for a reason. If you don't have at least some appropriate skills to brute force it or know to abuse stealth mechanics you can easily get stuck. One of the best and easiest ways to level and gear is to ignore every combat encounter and keep traveling from town to town doing peaceful quests. It's very cool that it's possible, but most players will do everything in order until completion and will get assblasted by geckos and some other meme encounters.
>>
>>553064825
Option 1: save your little sister from torture and rape in a wizard insane asylum.
Option 2: make new friends. Wield powerful magical artifacts. Become one of the most powerful mortals alive. Undergo epic, challenging adventures. Acquire castles and villages and a playhouse and a thieves guild crew and hundreds of thousands of gold.

Bg2's main narrative contradicting what all your impulses as a player makes it a worse game than bg1, despite it doing everything better than bg1.
>>
>>553081140
>It's Baldur's Gate 2 that people adore
I see, I seem to have mixed them up then. Still, I'm not really one for skipping entries that connect to each other, so I shall still play through BG1, even if it's a bit rougher.
Is it better to multiclass or just use single class in BG1? I know you only get to around lvl 7
>>
I still have no idea how to justify some backwards savage from Arroyo that barely comprenehds the idea of "money" having an indepth knowledge of science, medicine and energy weaponry.
>>
>>553081530
Depends on whether you pick a human or not, because there are different types of multiclassing depending on a race.
If it's your first time playing BG1 just go with a single, straightforward class, like paladin or ranger. Or maybe a wizard if you are ballsy enough.
Human-specific dualclassing in AD&D is a clusterfuck and you can very easily render your entire character unusable if you don't know what you are doing and dual-class too late.
Other races have multiclassing, that is a bit more straightforward, but much more restructive.
>>
>>553081228
>he has enough temperament and confrontational tendencies to stand out
Agreed, and I do like how it makes him really feel like he's outranking most of the other tech-priests we run into, which he is due to being a magos. He also often has something to say, and most of the time it's pretty intresting to hear.

Valygar is honestly pretty great. Though as a stalker ranger you need to micromanage him to start fights with a backstab to get the most out of him. He stays relevant all the way through ToB even into backstab immune enemies since he can be your Armor of Faith, Hardiness, Defender of Easthaven guy (Stacked physical damage resistance). Personality wise he's got his "Fuck mages" thing, but he's one of the more rational and grounded companions. He's also the one companion with the ability to verbally shut down quirk chunguses like Jan and Neera. You find him in the Umar Hills. Mazzy is also great but she's much better as a doubled shortbow archer with Bow of Gesen and Vhailor's Helm rather than a tank. She's in the Ruined Temple. Keldorn (Temple District Sewers) has a good Paladin kit and can serve as frontline for you at lower difficulties as well as being a big fuck you to mages. Finally in ToB only there's Sarevok. I generally don't use him personally, but he's a pure fighter with great stats. EE companion wise Dorn is meh and Rasaad is ass since he's a monk. I wouldn't bother with either.
>>
>>553082370
It's really not. Just don't be stupid evil and don't murder innocent people for no reason. And keep your reputation high, but that's an easy requiremet, because you can just donate money to temples.
If anything, BG3 is more finnicky with its bullshit interpretation of oaths.
>>
>>553082567
I see, perhaps I was thinking of TOEE then, since I recall hearing that you could accidentally break your oath by doing something like drink at a tavern
>>
>>553082370
>>553082567
Part 2.
Adding to that - rangers ALSO can fall, because AD&D demands rangers to be good-aligned.
But then again, being evil in BG1 and 2 is an exercise in futlity, because there isn't much to it and eventually the game will just start punishing you for it.
>>
>>553081909
>>553082370
NTA, but FWIW Archer is the only version of Ranger worth playing as a main character in my opinion. Base Ranger and the other kits aren't that great and offer a mishmash of questionable benefits given the slower level progression of ranger. But Archer is very strong and easy to play.
>>
>>553082641
Maybe, I actually never drank in the taverns, because there is no point to that mechanic, unless you like throwing your money away.
It's SUPPOSED to give you various rumors, but you get that by just, you know, talking to people.
>>
>>553082918
IMO, archer is TOO busted in BG1, because the enemies are not really equipped to deal with a guy sniping them from across the map. They fall off hard in BG2, thanks to a lack of decent +5 bows.

Fallen paladins/rangers suck ass.
It's really, really easy to avoid. Don't be an evil prick and try to avoid throwing a fireball in middle of town.

It's not like owlcat games where if you pick the good guy options you'll inevitably be fucked, it's really obvious what you shouldn't say/do.

>being evil in BG1 and 2 is an exercise in futlity, because there isn't much to it and eventually the game will just start punishing you for it.
It punishes you immediately with shopkeepers charging way more, there is 0 benefits to being evil but flavor. Any character that's evil won't leave your party until you hit 19 reputation.

Longbows sure do, but shortbows fair way better even though literally every other ranged option is superior because of better damage & everything hitting the attack rate limit thanks to whirlwind.

Yes everyone familiar with the game knows longbow itemization sucks in BG2, but you are allowed to put points into weapons other than Longbow. You have plenty of points to GM two ranged weapons by the time you need to be worrying about +5 weapons.

>new classes/feat/archetypes
I already did a manticore shifter, hippogriff cavalier and mantis zealot run (that one I quit right after Drezen) which were quite fun but a lot of the archetypes don't feel unique enough to warrant another playthrough. From what I've seen the new magus is shit and titan fighter is another melee blender of which I've already played like 600 hours.
>>553085404
Damn that sucks. I'm looking for something to play, I cba for the BG3 early game and Underrail is more cbt than I'm willing to put myself through right now.
>>
>>553085802
You'd be right, I didn't see his post.
>>553085294
There was 0 balancing done for the game past act 1
The "difficulty" comes entirely from horse shit that stacks stat ups on enemies and they always roll initiative lower than your characters stacking agility.
It's a big issue that plenty of other turn based games ran into with alpha striking, but in this games defenses don't matter in the slightest for either side and there's no scenarios that you need specific people to deal with so you're actively gimping yourself if you're not stacking damage.

By the time you're halfway through act 2 you're already unstoppable, and then act 4 starts raining build defining gear ontop of you.
I HOPE that Dark Heresy's balance is better and not just a tremendous power nerf to the player alone.
>>
>>553086126
>For the needy!
What a dumb bitch
>>
>>553086404
The Dark Heresy enemies seem to pack a lot more punch and can disable your guys in various ways (immobilize, disarm) which you then need to cope with or dispel with an officer. They also have hard hitting attacks that take a couple of turns to wind up that will fuck you up if you don't interrupt them
You can reduce an enemy's position in the initiative queue with an arm attack, but a different attack might do more damage so it's a balance.
The "high morale" attacks are per-unit and aren't anywhere as much of an I-Win button as the previous high momentum attacks.
>>
>>553086404
I for one just love those boots that boost your parry and allow a character to counterattack everytime they parry.
Half of the enemies end up dead on their first turn, because they were stupid enough to directly attack my parry-happy RT carring the biggest sword he can find.
The rest get murdered from across the map by Argenta and her magical Emperor-blessed bullets that hit everytime, no matter what.
Itemization in this game is bonkers.
>>
>>553086759
NTA but speaking of those high morale attacks, I like how the low morale ones also incur a penalty, making them feel more like last-ditch efforts to turn the tide while also adding some strategic depth by forcing you to choose whether or not its worth it to get the penalty to use it now, or if you can still survive and later on use the better high morale attack
>>
>>553086943
Those boots (assuming you mean the ones that let you counterattack after parrying with a sword) alongside the other boots you can get in Act 4 that let you kick an enemy if you parry with any kind of melee weapon, as well as the power sword that also autoparries can make melee-heavy teams pretty funny, since you can have three different fellows parrying the shit out of the enemy

>>

>>
So, the upcoming RT DLCs promise two new companions? Can there be too many companions in a cRPG?
I am already not using half of the companions RT has to offer. I don't think I used Jae once, I only use Solomorne when the game forces me to, I haven't used Idira since the prologue and even Aberald and Kibbles are benching once I got my hands on Ulfar and Yrliet. And I haven't even recruited Marzipan.

>>
>>553086957
Yeah I had to make that choice a few times and typically chose against using it. The penalty is around 30% iirc, not something to be taken lightly.
In the final battle everyone was unexpectedly killed in one turn except Cogg, and he had a Desperate Strike available. With one last punch, he slew the warp horror and saved the situation.
>>
>>553086759
>reduce an enemy's position in the initiative queue with an arm attack
Sorry leg* attack. An arm attack will interrupt them if they're concentrating on something, so it's a choice to be made. These often have a semi-low chance of landing, unless you can stun him somehow.
Cogg gets a guaranteed interrupt strike so it's often worth moving him around as a troubleshooter.
>>
>>553088423
>Can there be too many companions in a cRPG?
Yes, Solomorne was certainly one too many. I'd rather the existing companions get more to do. I don't really think new companions are a big draw for players.
>>
>>553088052
I hope that have autistic catfights that sound like perfectly pleasant conversations unless you can pass an awareness check to detect the passive aggression.
>>
>>553088840
I have a feeling Solomorne was mandated by GW, given how gung-ho they are on promoting the Arbites now. Something about new Arbites figures or somesuch. Darktide also had gotten the Arbites class.
>>
>>553088750
Epione (and likely Haymar as well, since they're both Soldiers, but can't remember) has an area attack toggle that lets her interrupt enemies with area attacks if they fail a Mettle(?) check
>>
thats right im one of the best.
>>
>>553088840
Since we get more content along with a companion it's an alright deal. Good for different party compositions across multiple playthroughs and a little interaction variation during quests.
Owlcat definitely needs to make another dungeon crawler mode as a a last DLCs and another ultra hard dungeon to play at the end game. They made a mistake of making a them way too early for Wrath, along with that separate campaign.

Owlcat is literally Mihoyo of crpgs.
Genre that was originally male-only is now plagued by biological women and faggots that seethe at most basic shit imaginable.
You may think it's not important now but Owlcat nearly released a woke game yet backtracked last second before alpha and decided to make the chocolate medic attractive.
"Sisters" are not even 10% of total playerbase yet we're already forced to deal with "diversified" cast. And if devs are doing "diversified" companion - that's one less "based" companion.

From knows it and they think it's funny.
One of the ER DLC bosses flat out says "Forgive me" before doing a big transformation, meanwhile the DLC itself pretty much smashed most of the lore theories and pulled them inside out.
A lot of ER's 'story' turns out to be a tongue-in-cheek jab at From's old cliches.

Clerics in temples can resurrect you regardless of your body condition. And forcing a dedicated good party as your supposed friends and traveling companions (all offscreen btw) is retarded, why allow creating evil-aligned characters then?

my party in bg1 was viconia, alora, xan, ajantis and kagain

Almost all environment interactions and movement are tied to the grid, while attacks and spell are very freeform. Only objects that can be touched from any neighboring square are light sources on walls. Things like boxes or pillars have a designated interaction position. Until characters can stand firmly in the center of the marked square they can't reach it.
Most of the time it's no trouble, just very clumsy since you need to wait for a guy to get in place. But rarely like in this case, if you don't get from a designed direction it just doesn't work.
Either they were lazy to code omni-directional object interactions or it was just too buggy. You know like in some games you interact with a weirdly placed object and it pushes you through the geometry. I can see this happening here a lot, levels a quite complex.
>Fly spell, no just Levitate
I think they wanted to have an early spell to allow 3D movement, but not as powerful as straight up flying, so they added Levitate at lower levels. It only allows moving up and down from the exact place you cast it. Should have named it Hover, would be less confusing.
>>
>>553123293
Cassia doesn't have much if you're not romancing her

Argenta is a "proper" sister. She is a member of the Ordos Pronatus of the order of Our Martyred Lady.

Sister Septima is also a "proper" sister. She is a sister superior of the order of the Sacred Rose.

>>553091453
Septima's overarching job is to keep an eye on the Cabal for corruption, and kill those that fall to corruption. The Tyrantine Cabal is given a lot of leeway due to the importance of their work, and the secretive nature of it as well, but they still have an external third party watchdog on them from a notoriously corruption-resistant group like the order of the Sacred Rose.

So Septima actually has the authority to blast people she suspects of outright heresy, but she is lenient on (you) because you are an acolyte of the Tyrantine Cabal, and you have been allocated leniency due to that job. Zerbe is a smart man and knows that he has to respect the watchdog that has been assigned to his organization, and in turn she respects him as a powerful and influential inquisitor lord who has been granted leniency due to the nature of his work. So it's mutual respect, and mutual understanding that both of them *could* be shitty towards each other if they wanted to, but everything runs smoother if they don't cause trouble for each other. Septima would only act against him when she sees outright chaos corruption. You working with a local xenos makes her mad because she's a dogmatard, but it's not the red flag that she's willing to make a scandal/disagreement with Zerbe over. She's waiting for the big fish of actual chaos shit. In other words, Septima and Zerbe are both reasonable people, which is refreshing in 40k. Zerbe is an established character not an Owlcat OC, and his other appearances he is shown to be shrewd and intelligent.

BG3 really spoils on crazy magic items, right from the lowest levels. In Solasta I'm almost level 9 and only now getting at least some characters half equipped. No magical robes at all so far, only some +1 armor. Barbarian and Sorceress are still in starting clothing. I don't mind it much tho, every find feels substantial.
Also surprisingly high amount of social skills usage. Was possible to pacify all 3 major bosses in one dungeon.

Heh, let me stop you right there, kid. If what you're looking for is some "clean cut" morality within factions or races, well best keep on lookin' cuz ya ain't gonna find it here. WarHammer: 40,000 will take every single expectation you have and completely subvert it.
It's a little something I like to call "morally gray".

First of all this is the 41st Millennium, let that just sink in a minute ;) Here everyone just does what they gotta do to survive, period. It's considered "Grimdark" for a reason: Equal parts grim and dark.

Honestly, being a necron, even if you are a lord (and didn't get Flayer AIDS or Destroyer derangement) is just devastatingly lonely and sad. The world is just not the same, weird races everywhere, everything is ruined or getting ruined, Warp is fucked. Your race is fucked. Sure, you potentially have the biggest dick in terms of technology and power, but there's no one to wave that dick at, no one to stick it in. Hell, you barely have any real desire to get erect.
No wonder Necron nobility goes back to roleplaying court intrigues, or throws itself into the whole "cleaning up our territory" bit it's basically the only semblance of normalcy and reason they have left.
>>
>>553138745
And then there is Trazyn, that just found himself a healthy hobby.
>>

The easiest way to answer that question is simple. Since every faction in 40K hates each other and is genocidal, you cannot judge their morality on how they treat each other. Instead, examine how they treat their own species and make a judgment based on that. If you use that criteria the actually moral factions in 40K become apparent.

I still think the Imperium and the CW Elder should stop being tsundere towards each other and finally start cooperating.
It worked out pretty great in Fantasy.
