>Are you open to weirder non-human companions?
I don't care about what they look like as long as they are cool. The quality of a companion is always more important than whether they are human.

inhuman companions are cringe when they are romanceable, just invites the worst of the worst like furries/scalies

>>

It is fun. Oh btw if you're looking for Dynaheir she can be annoying to find, she's at the bottom of one of those circle things and stupidly you have to actually go down into it for her sprite to be visible
>>
>>553143117
the combat in dawn walker has me mildly worried. combat like that can be good, but most of the time going with normal action combat is better. looks a little janky which is the bane of that kind of combat.

Wrath of the Righteous: Lord of Nothing. Anyone knows if there is a point in doing an evil playthrough and hoarding all shards for yourself?
Already did a pretty good playthrough where it seems I did everything right, destroying the shards and keeping everyone alive, so I figured I'll try to do the opposite and it feels like just pure failure. Is that right, or there will be something once it is exported to the main campaign?

I mean I can't really complain if it is pure failure, I've been warned thoroughly, but I did have to see that maybe it changes things or not. And the angel starting dead, and I think Sendri lying about it made me think there was some opportunity.

What
>>

Only the lesbian romance option does something akin to cuckoldry and only in one ending where she thinks (You) died, years passed and she got married and then finds out you're actually alive but now she doesn't want to meet you at all because you might ruin her new thing.
>>
>>553145803
Silverhand literally takes over your brain throughout the game and even takes over your body against your will and goes to party and have sex with whores. This is extreme cuckoldry that goes beyond mundane interpersonal relationships.

Jesus christ some of you are pathetic. Really, get a grip.
>>
>>553151625
She is a red herring. First presented as the kinda trad blonde white romance option for the average straight man she then turns out to be an extensive humiliation ritual where you are forced to listen to her talking about how much her previous bf pleasured her and that you will never match him and all you can do is nod and accept it or be dumped. Then as the final slap in the face the ending explicitly goes out of its way to make it clear to you that you dont have children and wont have any, implying a loveless marriage.
It cannot be underestimated just how much the Valerie romance mind broke this community. She is the reason this general is a never ending barrage of cuckposting which even spilled over into /bgg/ with the Halsin fiasco.
Shadowheart is very similar to Valerie actually in how she is mean to humiliate you, its just a little less insidious because the Halsin shit is optional unlike in Cuckmaker.

Mercenary with female portrait of your choice.
You need to imagine the scenes on your own, though. I like to place at least two per act since it's not tied to Owlcat's script.

Why wouldn't that apply to an upstart? Why not start a lineage of your own? Do you need divine mandate to do that? You could probably call up Shelyn or whatever for her blessing. Nigger every nobleman with land desires an heir immediately. You are just as responsible for your barony as a king is for his kingdom. If you die without an heir your title is extinguished and your land absorbed into the Crown.
It's called "feudalism". Look it up.
>>
>>553154592
Mostly fine. “Effortless” kingdom management takes a lot of the RNG annoyance out of the Kingdom stuff while not binding you to the choices in auto-kingdom. The UI is a bit more primitive than WotR, but this is a genre where people are still regularly playing games from the 90s. That said, I don’t think it’s a game needs to be played more than once unless you are dead set on replaying to win the Salad bowl and get the fairytale ending.

Finished Nashkel Mines, that was fun if a bit easy since all the enemies were so weak. Imoen is completely worthless at trap detection so I walked into all of them but they barely did anything so whatever. Clumsy little sister charm carries her.
So far the more intentional encounter design in the gnoll fort and the mines has been the highlight of the game. I really dislike combing through wilderness maps to find a couple wolves or some other useless bullshit and I think I'm just going to stop. I'm not really going for completionist here anyway.

One this to keep in mind for trap detection is that no matter how high your skill is it only “pulses” once per round. So once every six seconds real-time. That means that if you really want to avoid all traps in any area without reloading you need to walk forward a bit, wait a few seconds, then walk forward a bit more, wait, etc.
>>
>>553157416
Anons have ZERO imaginations so yea. I don't think any of them are capable of imagining what they do with their waifu after the game ends.
>>
>>553158359
There's some interesting stuff in the wilderness but if you don't enjoy the random stuff that is also there yeah you probably won't like it much, might as well just dig deeper into the iron crisis leads. And now you have Xan to cheer everyone up along the way!
The thing about traps is that detection is on a global 6second loop, so you could be a literal god of trap detection and if you happen to be next to one at the wrong point in that loop, you won't see it for a few seconds no matter what.
It is what it is, some people hate that, I personally like it because it forces me to still proceed cautiously in areas that I feel might be trapped, and it gives a sense of realism where instant perfect detection wouldn't. I'm sure there's a mod out there to change it if you want.

Not sure at all of the consequences, but after I met up with Fasolt and his regiment, I made the executive decision that all of us including Ludin and his entourage, are going to Ridgehorn, perhaps the source of this apparent 3rd invasion.
The other options were to split forces and continue to Grofheim, or to continue to Grofheim altogether. Only time will tell if my decision was a wise one, but everyone is following my lead, at least for now.
Earlier I overheard a varl desrespecting me on the march, and threw him down and had words. It was cool how a day or so later, he approached and asked to protect me in my personal retinue.

Don't Owlcat try to keep the number of men and women balanced? Why two guys in a row?
Are they really this petty that they don't want 40k fans to have another female Eldar in retinue, they don't have to make her romancable
>>
Good morrow anonymous friends. I am a new player to the Rogue Trader series, In rpgs I never play as a human. In Kingmaker and Wrath, Solasta, I always play as a half-orc. Always. Can I do the same in Rogue Trader?

I might bring Fasolt with, but I'm not sure who I'll switch him out for. Having Ludin in feels correct, and then also it feels correct to have Yrsa and Bersi.
So, that leaves Hakon, Gunnulf, or Mogr. I think Mogr will stay behind, also since I don't have enough Renown to promote him to 4. I'm sure excess kills overflow into the next rank, but it's a good enough excuse to bench someone.

This was never a thing. They told us this with Ulbrig even that they make the companions they want. It just happened to be balanced.

No. At best, you can make your character technically be some sort of cyborg in the character generation, but that is purely cosmetic and there is no reactivity to it.

There should be other places where you can try to level up. If you helped the bloodmoon child, there's some extra EXP you can get there. Define what you mean by "implants" because Eldar of all stripes definitely use things like specially grown organs and wraithbone/crystal augmetics.

They picked the wrong grounding for that kind of theme then, the Farseers we meet in the game are not "too reliant on prophecy" they just suck at their jobs.
>>
>>553170245
>They can literally influence the skein of fate on a granular level, only Tzeentch sorcerers are comparable.
That's not really how it works.
All they can do is read extremely vague visions that they have to transcribe while in a Warp trance.
It takes a very large seer council all working together to get a clear picture of something, and even then it typically only works for singular threats they already know about.
Seers can't directly manipulate the skein, they can only see possibilities on it.
>>
>>553170245

>>
>>553170708
They can manipulate the skein within limits, even as individuals, and as we both said the visions are not vague when a powerful farseer is involved or multiple farseers are concentrating on a particular fate. They can't do shit willy-nilly and lock in iron-clad futures like Paul Atreides or Leto II, but it's not always just "vague visions". The more likely the destruction of Crudarach became, the more clear the skein should have become. There is an argument for them seeing it too late or ignoring warning signs, though. As written, they feel more "incompetent" as opposed to "we made reasonable mistakes."

The only clear cut win Eldar have ever had for themselves is in Valedor, when Biel Tan and Iyanden (along with a Dark Eldar force led by Lelith Hesperax herself) united to stop the Hive Fleets Leviathan and Kraken from merging into a Tyranid super-fleet.
In the end it didn't matter, as the Dark Eldar abducted Nids from both fleets and brought them back to Commoragh to be merged by Haemonculi anyways, because Lelith wanted new beasts to fight in the arenas.

>>

>>
>>553176373
Raven's the same, only difference is you can only give 1 teammate an extra turn instead of 2
My last playthrough heinrix was fully buffing the team turn 0 for 0ap and then throwing out fat damage after.

The real problem with the mastiff is the eagle does everything it does but better in 90% of cases since you can't just execute it while using a shotgun.
>>
>>553177060
They should buff the mastif. Making it immune to friendly fire is a start
>>
>>553176118
Bullshit, that is not the only clear win, even if you only count newer lore. They won the Battle of Rasilena outright, achieved their goal in the Betalis Campaign and BTFO the Emperor's Children in The Shattering and prevented a new Daemon Prince from being created. They also won other battles of Iyanden and Biel-Tan against Chaos incursions, even if the losses were heavy. There are probably way more examples in older lore.

Yes, renown is very scarce. That's why the option to keep pursuing the enemy during large scale battles exists. Its extremely risky, but that's the only way to get some extra renown.
Pouring renown into a single character can be good up until the point where said character suddely leaves or dies because of your stupid decisions
>Egil already dead

>no Ekkil
>>
>>553181453
Rasilena is mentioned a single time in a long outdated supplemental Codex. The Imperial forces involved aren't even named. It's very much a minor blurb of no actual significance, and the actual outcome of it was that Biel Tan and Iyanden grew bitter with each other.
>stopped a new Daemon Prince
At the cost of horrendous losses for Lugganath and the only CSM character capable of harnessing Eldar technology making off with a trove of it. Meanwhile Daemon Princes are still dime-a-dozen.
>When were the events of Betalis III withdrawn or contradicted by more recent lore?
Irillyth, the Shadow Spectres, and all mention of models related to Doom of Mymaera have been removed from the Eldar codex. This isn't an Eldar-only thing, but Imperial Armour in general is now dubiously tied to remaining models.
Eldar only ever 'win' when it doesn't matter or they suffer atrocious losses that make their victory moot.
>>
>>553182493
Not release it
>>
>>553183060
They still won those battles and Imperial Armor as far as I can tell is still canon even with an absence of mention from the latest codex. Surely many things are not mentioned explicitly in codexes are still considered as background lore? All the lore significant Eldar wins are usually done with Imperium alliances, and they do get used as punching bags too much, but there have to be other examples of outright wins in older edition stuff as well.
>>
Is it even possible to get a ending where me and my dudes don't have to die to a whack ass ritual in the Lord of Nothing dlc?
I thought spreading the crystals around would keep everyone sane. Turns out that doesn't even matter.
>>
>>553184915
>Surely many things are not mentioned explicitly in codexes are still considered as background lore?
Anon, background lore doesn't matter any more unless it can be used to promote the Imperium in cool ways or to make fun of Chaos or Xenos factions.
The last important campaign they were in was the post-Fall of Cadia, where their 'wins' included
>An entire Masque of Harlequins being massacred by a lone Deathwatch squad desipite being led by Eldrad Ulthran
>The Herald of Ynnead is actually a Dark Eldar Wych, who got the position by being killed
>Prince Yriel died and had to be revived
>Biel Tan is broken beyond repair
>Roboute Guilliman is revived
>The final Macguffin sword gets stolen while Yvraine was vusy reviving Guilliman
That's the modern Eldar track record, and that stuff was pulled from 10 years ago.
Eldar legitimately have never won a major battle on their own without incurring unsustainable or catastrophic losses. They have no major Warzone, no Campaign involvements, they don't even have central leadership to build on any more.
Eldar are almost officially an NPC faction.
>>
>>553185268
You just have to sacrifice one of them before the end
>>
>>553185686
The losses are clearly sustainable because they still exist. Again, no one is saying GW doesn't shaft them, and they are generally portrayed on the back foot. But they have won more than one major battle. Is the state pitiful compared to how they baby the Imperium? Yes. But it is what it is.

Neat how a series of small decisions led to a new hero
This game is fun and even though there's a lot of setting and lore, I've only once or twice been a little confused, and neither time did it really matter, it was just something like a few new city names that I didn't recognize in dialogue.

Inquisitors who kill people willy-nilly don't last long, at all. In general, Inquisitorial willingness to choose violence immediately is greatly exaggerated by fandom because fandom is basically overrun by secondaries who know lore from 'le lore deep dive' YouTube videos or just memes.
Inquisitors have insane authority, but also insane responsibility, and don't have the luxury of deluding themselves into thinking Imperium has infinite resources like nobles, Administratum or the incompetent Imperial Guard/Navy commanders do. Inquisition knows that manpower, materiel, ships and especially planets and imperial industries are a finite and very often non-replenishable. So when they clean up some chaos cultists who were blowing up factories, or corrupt nobles too busy with fucking their mutated cousins, Inquisitors are still faced with reality that valuable resources were lost. Little wonder they are so cranky and very zealous about purity.
As an Inquisitor, you have the power and authority, but you are also Imperium's janitor. You clean it up for the Emperor.
>>
>>553167227
>Is the kid dead?
Are you confusing inquisitors with a run of the mill nobles and rogue traders per chance?
Is the kid corrupted by chaos? Yes, he's dead.
Is he just a shithead? No, he's not dead. At worst he's gonna continue being a shithead. AT best he's gonna learn to look where he's going after recieveing a can of whoop ass. More likely than not he's gonna get recruited to be an inquisitorial ci and potentially a future acolyte

The Imperium is hypocritical to the core.
>we hate mutants
>except those who are useful, like navigators
>we hate psykers
>except those who are useful, like astropaths
>we hate heretics that don't worship the Emperor
>but Adeptus Mecanicus are useful, so they are allowed to worship a different god, just spin it properly
>we hate xenos
>but we'll happily accept their help and technology when nobody is looking
Imperium is just really good at rationalizing their bullshit.
>>
>>553197650
Eh, not really. Adeptus Mechanicus are usually doing their own thing and they are often outside of Imperial jurisdiction and pecking order. Even the Inquisition is very careful not to bother them too much, because while the Inquisitor can technically order the Admech around, it's usually a very dumb idea to do so.
So them being Rogue Traders or Inquisitors is a bit of a conflict of interest for both Terra and Mars. Sure, they can be in RTs/Inquisitor's retinue, but being a big head honcho is quite unheard of.
IIRC Inquisitor: Martyr really went hard on trying to justify a Mechanicus Inquisitor.

>For many long years, Yrliet travelled at the Rogue Trader's side, helping {mf|him|her} decipher the secrets of lost xenos races and lending {mf|him|her} the wisdom of her kind. Half a century later, she sensed that it was time to say goodbye — the Path of the Outcast had come to an end.
>???
>then
>Her elantach was all that kept Yrliet among the mon-keigh, but her heart was restless, and her soul bled from journeys through the warp. Her lone expeditions in search of spirit stones grew longer and more frequent.
>then
>One day, Yrliet returned to find the elantach on {mf|his|her} deathbed — her search had taken decades, yet decades pass without notice for Aeldari. Yrliet spent the elantach's final days with {mf|him|her}, and when the time came for death to place its hand on the Rogue Trader's shoulder, she sank into {mf|his|her} world one last time. The elantach, young again, looked at her and smiled. Tears burned Yrliet's skin, and then the dim light of the human soul faded. Yrliet touched the elantach's wrist to check {mf|his|her} pulse. She closed her eyes, sighed, and left the von Valancius protectorate, never to return.

I agree in certain ways. BG1 has a better feeling of adventure and exploration where BG2 is more "on rails". BG1 has a better narrative arc that unfolds as you learn more, where BG2 bludgeons you with "KILL THE BAD WIZZERD". BG1 feels good (as long as you appreciate higher stakes low-mid level combat) the whole game through vs BG2 becoming a real slog in the lategame/ToB.
ToB itself is a big piece of shit really, compared to TotSC which is really fun aside from werewolf island.
BG2 obviously has some points but I'd say it boils down to character bants and interaction (very much missing in BG1) and Athkatla itself being really cool.

So >>553227572
Yes, some people do actually think this.

We just cannot catch a break. Just before we arrived in what we thought would be a little sanctuary, I foolishly let some strangers join with us and work for supplies. The next morning we had no supplies. "Oh well no problem", I thought, "Boersgard is only a day's travel."
Now, we find the city in a very sorry state, with evidence of slaughter, the mayor in hiding, mercenaries filling in for guard and worst of all: an empty market.

"We'll just spend some months tearing down the city and building boats", is the best idea any of us can come up with, while the terrifying Bellower is but a week on our tail.
A fine mess we've found ourselves in, but what else is new.

I think Krumr's ability to move someone up in initiative could work well with Rook's Marked Prey.
Basically Krumr gets adjacent to the enemy and passes the turn to Rook who causes himself and Krumr to attack the enemy.
Truthfully, I haven't been able to make good use of Krumr but I easily see how his ability at Rank 3 is powerful, with no range limit.

It does seem to be that 5 is the upper limit for heroes, which might have influenced some decisions if I'd known that before. Oh well, life itself doesn't offer perfect information I guess.

so hows the detective work in the dark heresy alpha? is it just for show and they'll handhold you to the right solution or do you actually have to look around and ask the right questions and interact with the game mechanics
>>
>>553232241
You have to look around and ask questions, but the Alpha does also offer what I presume are the "correct" solutions at the end when it tells you how your choices affect things
You have to go out of your way to see these "correct solutions" though, with the game labeling them as "insider investigations" or some such that are crossed over until you click on the text.
In the Alpha at least it's made to basically read like your choices affect what happens, but the Inquistion then does their own, more in-depth investigations. No clue if it'll work like that in the full game though.

I will just keep playing how Rook would. Like I knew letting those randos join up was a bad idea, but he's that kind of person.
We've already lost some heroes. Gunnulf came to an unfortunate end, and after some bad decisions or consequences, Eirik headed back to Strand (?) accompanying some common folk making the journey, no clue what happened to him, maybe we'll cross paths again.

I defended the wall here twice, because if the wall fell, then the dock riots, caravan splitting, and any other problem would be minimal next to the flood of dredge.

>I have a feeling he was mandated by the GW,
GW is really, really trying to turn Wh40k into a multimedia franchise that is all about a cast of superhero-esque characters who are the only thing that matters. They are trimming down the 'cast' to a small number of main characters who are scheduled to appear in basically every game, book, comic etc.
Necrons are basically reduced to "that race that the quirky chungus Trazyn belongs to", eldar are just mincemeat that appears in the story to be wrong and die, Ultramarines ate the spotlight of every other SM chapter (outside of Blud Ravens who got grandfathered into DoW4 and Space Wolves who are still coasting on their previous surge of publicity), Imperial Guard got homogenised into Cadian lookalikes (except for Krieg and even those are quietly but insistently pushed into obscurity), Primarchs and their faggot drama completely subsumed Imperium as a whole, etc.
GW sees that you don't need to focus on the world and factions to make money. They are pivoting away from "it's all about your army, paint it how you want and imagine lore for it" because there's MUCH MORE money to be made off of secondaries.

New minis are met with barely lukewarm responses (not to mention people are just less likely to buy minis en masse in general these days, and GW constantly rising prices because they refuse to change their dogshit business and production practices), people absolutely DETEST the new approach to codex balancing and, for no reason at all, GW increases push for BL books and starts giving out license for vidya, animation and even live action, all in span of basically two years. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

How the fuck are you meant to build you characters? I have all the improved chance to hit shit, a plethora of buffs, and in act 3 I either stomp or cannot hit a single thing in an encounter. I managed to kill the dude in the hut who throws axes but how am I meant to actually be stacking buffs? Should I turn on the respec option and try fixing some things?

General party is
>Overwhelming sorc lich with the vanguard skeleton. The skeleton can survive and my main character hits regularly, has access to lots of buffs, and overall seems to be built well
>Wenduag is a demonslayer ranger, all points but the first put into it so far. I have the centipede companion which I read later was shit but it does alright and can rush backlines easy enough
>Regil is his base classes. Focusing on the gnome hammer and lots of hits. He can hit shit he smites but misses so many other enemies
>Daeren is his base class wit ha focus on healing. He provides lots of pre encounter buffs and overall is doing his job well
Last 2 slots I flex, but I have the dwarf slayer right now, not leveled up much, and I had woljif but traded him out for Vaughn. Woljif seemed to do more but was super squishy. I've also been using camellia but I'm too new or birdbrained to understand shaman's appeal

How can I make my experience better? How do you deal with enemies with buckets of AC, so much that I can never hit them?

People say this often but it's not as bad as people think. For one, not having a "stealth meter" that fills when people are looking at you is more realistic. People don't take several seconds to recognize that a person is standing in front of them. Gamers have been spoiled by unrealistic "stealth mechanics".

Second, you can just shoot them. If you have a sniper that has high one-hit damage, just shoot the sentries. If they die in one hit they don't alert anyone. Which is also realistic. I think a lot of people forget that you can shoot outside of combat, but it makes this mission a breeze if you have a sniper character.

Regill is not an optimizable character, wendog has pretty good stats for martial and can't into anything else. It's harder to give advice if you dont say exactly where you are in the game cause the more levels you have the easier the game is in general
>>
>>553225241
Looks like you still get the generic "just friends" which is what that first one is, then followed by the proper ones
>>
>>553253914
You can pivot Reg to be usable on Daring since enemy numbers do not skyrocket, but it requires either multiclassing(monk/sohei or a mounted class in general, gifting him bismuth so he is mobile and tankier while getting fighter progression or making him complimentary domain support with hellknight 8 (so nobility is added to the buff stack).
This works up to hard too.
No real point in unfair though

Get the buff mod. The game is all about stacking buffs and synergy. Can't hit a target? Do you have mark of justice up? Guarded hearth from the community domain? Do you even have a skald? What about stacking witch and shaman curses? Once you know how to stack buffs it's a lot easier. Except for landing spells on unfair. That's actually impossible.

One problem might be not adjusting your approach or tactics for enemy weaknesses. If you aren't choosing what to do based on their will/fort/reflex then you're doing it wrong.
Especially with lich, make use of ability damage when you can. Knocking down a character's Str will drop their damage and to-hit if they're melee. Dropping Dex will drop their AC in many cases, as well as their Reflex save. Attacking CON will of course drop their AC and also make Fort stuff land even easier.
And it goes without saying to look at AC vs Touch AC. And if you can get them flat-footed that's even better.
Pay attention to small details as you notice them, ie Entangle will cause a not-trivial chance for spellcasters to fail, landing a Hold is auto-hit (and some big advantage to crit, or something like that) as well as a free Coup de Grace.

That's what I've noticed most about players new to WotR, they have their one approach instead of tailoring what they do according to the enemy they're facing.
Final note, hover/right click on lines in the status bar to see why you're not landing or getting hit more than expected. Could be that you're not understanding something like that one anon who was negating his whole Dex AC bonus by wearing Heavy Armor.

NTA but the "problem" here is that you can genuinely just use a hammer to beat everything. if it doesn't, it just means your hammer isn't big enough. Sure you can try to design a character with multiple types of CCs and such to exploit weaknesses, but why bother if you can just finetune one type and use it on everything.

Terrible story, terrible characters, terrible world building, the WORST UI and aesthetics/art direction in any CRPG ever made, and to top it all off, your reward for slogging through all of the above is decent encounter design and the bare bones garbage that is 5E character building and combat. >Every fight I have to put on 50 buffs and even then I miss shit half the time
It means you have a weak party build.
No, you don't need to have some dip monstrosity on everything for a good build. You are probably missing the essentials: outflank, crusader's edge for damage, morale (heroism)/luck (cleric)/competence (bard/community domain)/sacred (class specific)/untyped (from mythic path and class specific)/insight (gear and quarry stuff) buffs, legendary proportions/frightful aspect, ranger team-wide untyped buffs, greater invisibility.
Essentials are easy to miss if you don't know the system.
Naturally skeleton doesn't get much of those because he's not a humanoid but he gets something lich-specific.
Wendu and Greybor are your main hitters because they have straight bab with big untyped bonuses from class.
Regill should get weapon mastery gloves for untyped bonus. With outflank and Greybor they can shred things fast.
Woljif won't hit shit unless you invis him or give him mythic light armor focus for big + to catch up with martials.

Sometimes also not hitting AC is a solution too when you just fish for nat 20 with autocrit buffs and you just dunk them for 100-200 damage on crit every nat 20. But that's for unfair mostly.

Also, by act 3 you can already have greater enduring spells on your cleric to make everything but short buffs (of which you need only haste and invisibility) last a day.
