A few thoughts on the CoZ patch for Chaos;Head. First, technical issues. If you don't know Japanese and want to read Noah, which has the extra routes included, your only two choices are to use the official release as it stands or use the CoZ patch. The official release, from what I understand, has numerous technical problems that the patch fixes. The patch also goes to a lot of trouble translating all the image text, and there's quite a bit of it, which I appreciate. Reading this without all the images translated would have been extremely annoying. The main concern, though, seems to be certain localization choices. Personally I don't mind localization as long as it's done at least decently. I also don't pay much attention to personal drama going on with things like this, so I'm going to ignore that completely. I simply do not care and never will. I'm also not one to get hung up on individual lines which people like to nitpick, which often aren't anything of importance, and I prefer looking at the overall work that's been done. So, how is it? I would say that I like it. The use of internet lingo, as someone who was around at the time the game was written, is fairly on point. There are a few terms that I don't recall people using back then, but on the whole I think it fits. Things like the "Manchild" thing actually work well in context, e.g. pic related (though there's also a small example of an anachronistic term there). I can't say I agree totally with their reasoning, but to me what's important is the result rather than the process. I've posted a few screenshots where people have responded negatively to some of the internet slang, but in those cases it wasn't anything out of course for the time period (~17 years ago), which I think renders the complaints themselves anachronistic. Anyway, I think it reads well and it hasn't hindered my enjoyment of the game at all. YMMV, but that's my two cents.
