I can segue this into something vaguely gamedev, the reason why futa cocks are drawn so huge is because it makes sense proportionally when they're given womanly hips and thighs. What do you mean? Slate is the underlying language of UMG and all of Unreal Engine’s UI. If you want to do somewhat complex UI systems you’ll have to dig into Slate at some point. The advantage of Slate is that it’s pure code and vastly more performant than UMG, which is itself vastly more performant than Blueprint.

I use Slate for two things.
First, projection of simple stuff (SImage, SButton) onto the screen hundreds of them. There performance matters a lot, and moving Slate is more straightforward than UMG.
Second, SCompoundWidget-derived classes with self arranging internal widgets (modifiers, icons, etc.) They're each encapsulated in a UNativeWidgetHost-derived class.

I'm making a traditional roguelike game in Godot, and rather than take the traditional approach of iterating over tiles to determine line of sight and fog of war, I'm using light sources, occlusion, and raycasting. It works visually and data-wise, but it means I lose the "old school" look of individual tiles being shaded, and instead I have the paint-brush effect on my FOW. Putting aside the Kenny 1-bit assets, am I making a stylistic error by having rounded FOV/FOG in my very square world? Offloading FOW/FOV to the engine has saved me a ton of frame computation time.

I should also add that owning an LLC or being a sole proprietor can work very differently depending on where in the EU you live. In Sweden for example you can pay yourself dividends upwards of $23k/20k€ per year and only pay 20% corporate tax to avoid paying the regular ~30% wage tax. It's too early of a prototype to tell, but as is, FOV looks a bit rough. There's no falloff so the cone of vision is very harsh.
I'd have the tiles that are partially visible or near the edge of the light be shaded differently. Maybe have the falloff of the light source be dithered? Can use a light projector for that.
Multiple light sources, inner and outer FOV cone and emissive lights might also hide the issue.

I'm not entirely sure I understood what you mean, but yeah you can have round FOV/lighting in a tile-based world. It depends entirely on execution and you might need to play with ambient lighting and light sources more than tile-based lighting/FOV.

Most modern formats, especially from open consortiums, play well enough with FOSS version control like git, but worst case, you can just use git lfs. Proprietary formats are often intentionally shitty to force you to pay for their own devops service like Adobe cloud or Perforce with Unity.
