Miriams vanishing does have use in PvE. If an enemy is rushing you down, casting it puts you range of their attack and the teleport usually puts you far away enough to counter attack. This method seems pretty good even on super mobile enemies like the Black Knife Assassins.

It's still amazing how well this game holds up, being the one to invent the formula. Astraea and Garl in particular feels almost timeless, were it not for the somewhat janky pathing AI. To me this fight is a "what could have been", because modern Fromsoft would never have made a boss like this. Even DaS1 moved quite a bit away from it. Not that I don't enjoy the later designs, I just wish we got more "gimmick" fights
