Made a basic input tool to generate me a JSON with the input using a fighting game buffer like notation, and it stores to json.

Hopefully I can easily load this file and create a FSM generic enough to automatically understand how to process this so I don't have to rebuild it on every new project.

I use AI (ChatGPT) for a lot of my programming.
The engine is written in C, and uses Raylib and ODE for the physics and SDL2Net for the networking.
The trick with using AI for programming it to keep methods/functions relatively small, and when you tell the AI to write you a function, tell it exactly what you want the function to do and keep the function very small.
For example AI prompt -
"Write me a function that takes the paramaters "int EntityIndex, Vector3 position, Vector3 target, bool runTime"
If the bool runTime is true, then return a Vector3 for the inverse direction from the position to the target.
Of course you need to know how to use the programming language that you choose, but programming is much more than knowing the language, you need to be good at maths as well, and I am not. AI will tell you what sort of maths you need to achieve a certain goal, and if you keep the functions small, it will help you write great stub-functions that when used together, can do things like create character controllers or level builders etc.

My main.c file is 28000 lines, the entire project is about 40k lines.

Everyday I'm depressed from knowing that I just lost my dream job, a job that i thought I can work until I retire, a job that I'm ready to do for the next 30 years.
And now I'm stuck in a worse job, with worse pay, and not even doing mobile game or any game anymore.
My mental is in an absolutely horrible state right now. Worse than when I was unemployed for almost 2 years.
Despite all that, I'm not gonna quit my job either, because without the income, I'm gonna be depressed too, just for another reason.
Also, the job market is really shit right now, especially the tech industry.

I cant get a QA job 3 months after graduation and my mom put me in a government job where i was working as general affairs, attending meetings, memorizing hundreds of presentation materials, etc. I could probably tolerate that job if i wasn't suddenly told that i was told by the director there i need to figure out how to make a website to manage the files while we already have google drive that just works. I quit after 4 months and tried my luck again trying to get back to QA, but it's been 2 years since my last QA job and a year since that general affairs job. I dont know what to do anymore. It's a new addon from 5.3 that loads two animations in and mostly handles the motion warping for you. But to use it you have to hit a button to manually refresh the scene inspector and the rotation doesn't match what you get in game at all. Pic related. This new game is called RoboTemplar Arena. it's an arcade game where you fight enemy waves and progress through enemy encounters(imagine hades); after each fight you get rewarded, and you choose your next path+reward to go further in the dungeon(again, hades)
these levels are one screen for now (imagine classic isaac), and are designed with a random selector to feel fresh and engaging (spelunky)

I think you don't understand anatomy at all. And what I mean by that is that you are still drawing symbols of the things you want rather than the thing itself. I would recommend just standing in front of a mirror yourself and actually thinking about how different body parts connect to each other. It will also end up helping when trying to draw from imagination as you start to intuitively understand how things work. Looking at references might not work as you'll likely just subconsciously end up practicing copying rather than anatomy.

Also you might want to try this more painterly style of drawing some people (me) use. I can't make good lineart at all, but I can start from a blob and slowly carve it into something good.

How can I pull off becoming a gamedev for an indie company? Going solo is becoming less and less promising. From looking around a lot of these indie companies seem to be located in Canada, Europe, or East Asia. A femdev I've watched on youtube who is clearly not great at game development can somehow work these jobs. Why can't I? Do I need a degree? Rimworld was on Steam long before Dwarf Fortress arrived, 2016. Whereas Odd Realm was 2019 but in a sparse state of content. Dwarf Fortress had announced coming to Steam in 2019, thought not released until 2022. How many held out for it by then? A full 3 years after Rimworld was already on the platform. Not to mention I suspect Rimworld was far more content heavy when it arrived compared to Odd Realm. Hmm seems Odd Realm was screwed by the fact that it wasn't first to market. Rimworld, regardless of being the first one on there, was content dense. Guess it's circumstances could've been better had Rimworld never appeared rather than just Dwarf Fortress.

Iirc Odd Realm was like $9.99 early on. I doubt that helped financially, probably why it got pushed out of early access after 5 years of that. He should've put more content into the game before early access and then raised the price point to something higher. I've looked at the game before but at the time I initially added it, it had too little content despite looking cool. Now I can't even justify buying it unless there is a really steep discount since I can just go with free Dwarf Fortress and probably find a mod that makes it equivalent to the paid version or just play Rimworld which was massively aided by the funding it received via selling copies of the game. One of those things where it becomes a feedback loop and helps your game grow faster and better.

I would not be surprised if the majority of sales for Dwarf Fortress are just normies who heard about the game and primarily bought it so they could be part of the crowd. More so a social purchase rather than genuine interest in playing the game.

just because its awkward dragging the around the screen for a few seconds expecting it do something before trying the keyboard, i think what specific things you try first is mostly trained by what 3d software youve used, like eg trying middle click or right click to rotate but whatever
this is also in the main view because im trying to click a gobling wedged underneath the button panel, its not too much of a problem in the small map but on bigger maps...
it would also be nice to see where you enemies can move to, i assume its the same as your own units but I cant be assumed remembering such as big radius on my units

working on my own take on mechwarrior, will make it legally distinct later when I have more of a playable vertical slice. pretty happy with the procedural walk animations and limping, need to figure out a way to procedurally animate getting up that's less cursed.
