I was thinking about doing a playthrough as a Star Druid, or at least two levels for Starry Form, which I see qualifies as a wild shape, and I just want to make sure I'm not gonna run into convo problems constantly with that. All I remember about druids is that they had dialogue problems all over the place back around release and that wild shape routinely kicked characters out of convos.

Now I have two dead party members, little gold, but Im alive the run hasnt ended. Fast travelled somewhere safe. Solving the grove issues and goblin camp got me to level five (I killed the mindflayer and zhalk though didn't get to kill the other two cambions). Now it's just finishing the rest of the first map.

I just finished forsaken Shadowheart's quest and my estimation of Shar has sunk even lower. Saved the parents, and now she'll get zapped. But playing Shar's loss game doesn't feel right, so I spited Shar
>>566683387Well you have to do some very particular things and you have to get lucky. If you don't it just won't happen. Need to get lucky with the command to get Zhalk to drop the sword. Make sure you have both Us and Shart with you and Laezel for max damage. Shart is necessary for command. If you're lucky you get the speed potion which you throw on the mindflayer but I've done it before without it. The trick is to try to disarm him so he don't just destroy the mindflayer immediately and then try to hope you have a character that moves after the mindfalyer. If you do, then you shove the mindflayer away from Zhalk to trigger opportunity attacks on him. It helps to summon mage's hand with Laezel to get a dedicated shove bot while your melees just worry about attacking and being in good positions around Zhalk. If you still have a spell slot on Shart if you get lucky with the first command then you cast bless on laezel and the mindflayer. If MC is melee then you have It also helps to collect the nautiloid tank from Shart's room and then pick up the other three. Typically you'd use this to finish the fight and maybe even kill the other two cambions if lucky enough. But most of the time Zhalk + Mindflayer is hard enough already and it's best to just end the fight after killing those two. Worst case scenario you can use those tanks to finish of both before ending the fight. It's all luck but the odds are not too bad for killing Zhalk + Mindflayer (150 xp). 55% chance for 16 caster stat command. Two chances is about 80% to succeed. Four if your MC has command is about 95% chance. The other 150 xp is much harder and you have to get much luckier though it's possible. Unfortunately the game can say no and either you restart or you're able to rush the command center and just bail out of the fight.

Maybe you could kill the mindflayer for 75 xp extra right before you activate the controls to keep Zhalk off your back with an explosion. Even when he's friendly I still think you get the xp for killing him. It's just an optional way to get the character to level 3 before even entering the grove gate fight. Even without killing anyone in those fights you can still get to get within 50 xp of level 3 before even getting to that fight. Nonetheless this is all pure autism on the road to get to level 8 before leaving act 1.

I remember Act 1 getting you very close to level 8 if you're a completionist on a good playthrough. Murderhobos obviously get more experience sources and can slaughter the entire myconid colony for a nice chunk. The goal of optimizing experience gain should really be to reach level 10 before the Apostle of Myrkul, and at that point, the minor variations in Act 1 won't matter.
