She easily couldve been absent from the game and the setting could've just taken place on some secluded set of islands (just like the classic games were). The ship driving minigames get old quick. Chaos has a persistent glitch on GG where your ring despawns before it comes back down so I'd go SMS on that too. You can get away with playing Blast on GG though, SMS was the port in that case and the levels were designed for the smaller screen by that point. Fanmade SMS Triple Trouble had some of the same issues since the native SMS version was canceled.
