For races 2200m or longer your stamina becomes extra speed so you kinda need to max your stam. And for 2100m and shorter races you use a guts card (with some exceptions) since getting more than enough stamina is useless. Also gutsmaxing was viable in MANT and you kinda had to do that for the mile and sprint CM if you wanted more than 80% WR
