Okay, I figured it out. When Work and Chat are using the same model neither is smarter, but Work can work off a glossary and translation instructions while keeping a longer working memory for sizable projects. So if you are testing paragraphs individually, Chat and work will be basically the same, but if you are translating whole chunks of a visual novel then Work is dramatically better thanks to its memory and the complexity of instructions it will keep in mind. Also right now Astra is not available in Chat for plus accounts, it's only in Work. So the smartest model right now is locked behind work.
