This was fun as hell back in the day
>>1455849Great gunplay with the single best implementation of hipfire/ADS I've ever seen, but GODDAMN Splash Damage were retardedly incompetent. Updates were slow as shit, bugs went entirely ignored or came back after being solved or got unsolved despite the patch notes claiming there was a fix. Devs wasted time implementing stupid shit like Execution and were way too hesitant to make necessary balance changes resulting in a stale meta that was absolute cancer in competitive play which was dominated by snipers, Aura and eventually Turtle. I had a lot of fun playing DB but the flaws were very grating.
>>1455849the dei medic with the shotgun made sure it wasn't
>>1455866I have insider info about this. I went to a job interview there years back - they were working on other stuff and that was what I was being interviewed on. However one of the interviewers were from Dirty Bomb team so I had to ask about it since I loved the game. They always had a really skeleton crew in the game - at that time there were three (3) people working on the game, and from what they said the game had something close to 6 people working on it at most.
>>1460436Similarly there used to be a mobile game done from DB assets, it didn't do too well so they just erased it from all their materials. The employee said that they even had to remake a series of roll up ads just because mobile game was among them.
>>1455849i played the shit out of this game but it was so fucking badyou only ever saw a handful of characters played because they were so fucking broken compared to the rest
>>1460436Do you recall what year/quarter this was in? I know their staff was changing a lot in size since the start. The game was going reasonably in terms of updates well up until Aimee came out in 2016 then progress just fucking died.
>>1460685Q4 2015>>1460667At the end maybe, but at the beginning and for most of the games lifetime it was pretty decent balance wise. I remember the nigger medic was really good, the cute medic was decent, the soldier man had a op ulti, picrel cute tech girl was fun with mines, the female demoman had the annoying exploding corpse, fatso required skill to use, cute blue hair girl had best gun and good ult..I remember towards the end they started to introduce more and more broken characters but I had pretty much stopped playing at that point.
I don't think I've ever played a game that makes me as angry as DB
Proxy a cute
>>1476532She's a filthy traitor
I played the hell out of this. Now its dead. RIP in peace.
>>1455849I still occasionally hop on to play as Phoenix. He was the perfect fusion of DPS and healer, someone that helped support the team but could also do it all without actually being that much effective at it, so you earned pushing through and living up to his attitude of "fine, I'll do it myself."
>>1481663>>1481774Wait, so the game is still online or what?
>>1481787Official servers are gone. They released ""community servers"" but without releasing the software direct. Instead, you have to rent them specifically from a service called Nitrado, which frankly charge exorbitant rates. It's been a while since I played, but generally there were 1-2 servers that remained populated, but little else.
>>1455849The only game that can cure my itch for fast paced FPS like Dirty Bomb is Ultrakill and that game is single player.I fucking hate Splash Damage
Was a really fun game I enjoyed my time with it. One of those cases of back when I was playing it there were too many games competing for my attention at the time, crazy to think that less than a decade ago the industry was in such a better position than it is now. Anyway, I kinda wish I had stuck with it more. It was really fun. Phantom was really fun on release.
