Good thing this is only a two week visit, because the version of the game managed by Papaya is incredibly pay2win. If you're looking to play long term after this, you're better off looking at the Taiwanese version of the game if it still exists or somehow buying a subscription for the Japanese version.

Entering a new port gives me the port discovery, completing a search for an Adventurer quest gives me the discovery of that specific object, using animal knowledge in specific areas during land missions can give a discovery of some species etc.

You can get additional job change endorsements by using the Survey skill and going to the lifesaver marker on your map and helping the NPC there. They'll give you an item that you can use to turn into a variety of things, one of them being a job change endorsement. Take that one and then talk to any NPC ship with a nation flag to get it. Not sure if you can get every kind from it or just one for combat, as that's the only one I've gotten so far.
