Full 1.20 release is not out yet. New sbr is up, og is still around. All story dungeons have been beaten in the new sbr.

OG is chilling, player base dropped since the 1.20-rcs Mazor server is online. It will likely be a longer lasting version of the previous mazor test server.

Imagine if the next update for Vintage Story was focused on adding a whole bunch more crafting and automation features, they teased it for 3 years with a ton of really interesting stuff like aqueducts, water wheels, steam boilers. Along with a combat overhaul, new weapons and a rewrite of the world generation code to be nicer.

Three years later, the new crafting is only 25% implemented, some of the promised features are mysteriously absent and the remaining implemented features are broken, original core game features are broken like some foods no longer having nutrition values and swinging a sword gives your seraph muscle fatigue and you need to sit for about half a day to get ride of it. All muscle fatigue does is slow your attacks down and make you deal less damage.

Also, Multiplayer is disabled.

I was going to make a garden here in this flooded part of the cave but I've seen over 20 driggers jumping down from the upper parts of the cave into the pool.

There are still no oceans by default i think? May want to set those up if you want them. The big thing is the polar - equator distance which by default is 100k blocks. By default the game spawns you at around 47 degrees latitude. Depending on how much travel you want to do i would set it at either 50k or 25k.

Prospecting isn't too bad once you figure it out.
The key thing is to know what depths the ores occur at and in what stones.
This is what a "High" node of tin ore looks like.
As long as you go down to the depth it's at, you'll find plenty of it.

I want a mod that makes iron+ tools harder to make, to extend the bronze period. Iron is just way too easy to get to as is, with bronze being a microscopic stepping stone to iron. Hematite should be a lot rarer, with magnetite and others somewhat less rarer. Maybe even require an iron anvil to forge iron, with meteoric iron being required to move onto iron. Meteoric iron should be more workable earlier, just so it has an actual use instead of the "rare shit you collect but never use".

It's because the search mode you're using only tracks the average ore that statistically should exists, not actual deposits. It can't tell you exactly where the ore is.
To find out exactly where the ore is, you press f and switch to node search. You might need to enable it in world settings. That probes blocks in a small radius (the max is something like 10) and gives you the actual ore content. Take readings along your shaft walls until you find a trace, and then dig around to find where it is. If there's nothing in the shaft? Dig another shaft next to it and repeat the process.

Finds out about "prima materia" through there as well which apparently is the blue liquid that powers his shit?
Turns out some of the "rot' which is the natural state of the rust world also went through and seeped into their world.
Rot spreads throughout the land, think about it as extremely radioactive, causing decay wherever it goes and can't be stopped. Mutates things as well.
Jonas wants to build a great machine that reverts time.
To avoid getting the rot, Jonas and a lot of people went underground, made communities and all that shit.
Player character is part of that.
Society underground turned into shit due to lack of resources, stress, in-fighting, etc.
Machine finally gets activated.
Rot is reverted but the people near the machine were "lost in time and space".
The machine caused tears in space-time which allows rust world creatures to appear in the world (low temporal stability).
Then Tobias did some shit with some tower to bring back those who were near the machine
And the seraphs showed up, allegedly being the people who worked in the machine but were lost in space and time.

As far as I can tell it rolls for the entire furnace to see if it takes damage at all, and then if it does each block rolls on it's own table to see which ones get damaged. Because I've never had only one or two bricks get damaged it's usually fine for several uses and then half of it explodes all at once.

Ores spawn mostly in pancake shapes in vanilla. They're much wider than they are tall so your best bet is to enable multimodal prospecting and use density to figure out the area the ore is, and use the other mode to triangulate its position using exploratory shafts. Hope you like making ladders.

I didn't know 1.20 had dropped, what, today? Anyway I have built a road with much help from mundane from byz to the south pole in anticipation for this update. My plan is to grab some elks and embark to the ice wall to build Hyperborea. All players are invited but be warned, the cold filters most.
