When I did I inputted the codes, without logging in first too, and it worked. I then logged in the character just to confirm if it worked and it did.

Usually from a daily dungeon or some shit. It would take a considerable amount of time for F2P players.Pets are also still busted and a whole squad of them is impossible to get as a F2P player. Sure you could buy some in the auction house but since the game has been out for years and there hasn't really been a good money sink the prices are absurdly high.
