Compared to DDO where you're essentially doing one quest at a time with actual narrative exposition, which I prefer.I hope I'm wrong because there's a lot about that game that I think is cool, and the community seems chill.

If you love LoTR and want to immerse yourself in the world then LoTRO is the best game out there. If the goal is to reach end game in 1-2 weeks then the game isn't for you. Unfortunately that means the game is meant to be a long term play, not played in short bursts.My problem with DDO is that the overall atmosphere of the game sucks ass. Except Ravenloft. I value immersiveness of the game a lot. If I can't get immersed then I can't really get into a game. Every dungeon basically plays out the same. Except with a twist depending on the expansion. Feywilds, same dungeons but with gnomes and fairies. Isle of dread, same dungeons but with dinosaurs. The only time the game has ever hooked me was when I did Mist of Ravenloft. The spooky atmosphere, and the spooky dungeons really sells that the expansion was spooky themed. Even some dungeon narrator uses those little girl voices that sounds scary. Playing the game makes me feel like I'm actually playing a scary game.
