It does take a lot more prep than other methods with leppa berries and preparing harvest if you’re not swapping callers and everything.

Of course you could do something complex like skill swap intimidate onto the called pokemon then skill swap it back to whichever pokemon you want to KO with after you have the whole harvest thing set up. You also have to account for stuff like soundproof skill swap for anything with perish song so in that case you would just switch which pokemon was sos calling each now and then because you can’t have harvest and soundproof. There’s a good Smogon thread about it somewhere that can give you the basics and then you can build off that (like using A-Marowak for anything that has flamebody like Larvesta so it doesn’t get burned and can stop it from suiciding with takedown, though you’ll still have to hope it doesn’t burn itself when you harvest skill swap it or eat the berry you’re going to have to trick onto it). There are some differences between Ultra and normal SM, but I can’t remember what they are and only ever did SOS on ultra. There is a surprising amount of false info regarding this thing.>the Radar tries to generate 4 rustling patches of grass in 4 squares of tiles around your character>these patches can be rustling either quietly, violently or be shiny. Special encounters (Poké Radar-only, Trophy Garden, swarm,(?) dual-slot, etc.) can only be encountered in violently rustling grass>these patches have 28%, 48%, 68% and 88% chance to continue your chain respectively (closest to furthest)>having caught the previous encounter adds a 10% bonus to this chance, but ONLY if you do not reroll the next rustling patches of grass>taking a patch on an edge or corner tile adds a separate chance for your chain to break due to the Radar trying to generate all 4 rustling grass patches on non-grass tiles>going from an encounter on a violent patch to a quiet patch (or vice versa) has a high chance of breaking your chain (100% if it's a special encounter)>if a given patch is set to break your chain, it has a 50% chance of changing rustling type (which means a fail chance on the 4th row is more like 6% or 1% with the catch bonus if you avoid opposite types)>after chain 40, your shiny patch chance is maxed out and you can just avoid any more regular encounters and keep rerolling for shiny patches>a shiny patch will always try to continue your chain, and it can only fail due to edge/corner tilesSo...>always stick to the same rustling grass type after the first encounter>always take the 4th row after the first encounter, no exceptions. On the topic of DPPt Pokeradar, I did some testing on Pt for fun to check out how it determines the pokemon, and an interesting thing I noticed was that the odds of encountering the favorable pokemon don't seem to work as intended. I have been able to get the pokemon I was chaining 40 times in a row by entering the nearest grass of the same shake type, often being the one directly next to me multiple times. I am fairly certain that the 28%, 48%, 68% and 88% are real, and datamined, but I wonder if they actually do work as intended, or perhaps are glitched somehow and default to the highest one, with grass type/capturing pokemon being the only factors that determine the end result.It could also be a confirmation bias but I tested it multiple times on multiple chains and the odds of closest and farthest grass patch breaking the chain seemed about the same. If anyone wants to do some testing to verify this, I'm curious about the results. It could be an emulation issue too, I suppose. It's just odd.

There is a difference in a shiny of the same species that is part of the chain but not a chain shiny (if you mean one that was forced shiny by the radar). You’ll find info about this in rng guides but not relating to maniping it to happen but that the shinies that are forced to be shiny by the radar cannot be used to find your secret ID in the way a shiny found through radar in a non-shiny grass patch can. Additionally, shinies that are part of the chain (such as cute charm shinies) won’t show as shiny patches, just regular patches. Not sure we’re using the exact same terminology the same way, but I think that answers what you wanted to know.

Specifically, its my birthday tomorrow and I wanted to try hunting a shiny with the Destiny mark, but it's exclusive to the version I don't own. I know you can see spawns from other peoples games in multiplayer, but I'm not sure if you can spawn marks that are based on your own birthday.
