I'll try not to blogpost: Pic rel is the result of my procrastination on assignments. Can't draw for my life but I didn't want to not contribute to Clover so I went with tracing and MS Paint for now. Hope it's not too low-effort. This is supposed to be Team Eevee when they first meet d'Alin in Ch.1 of the prelude.

>>56846336If it's for a holiday or special occasion, I think it would be fine, unless the costume looks like an offensive stereotype or caricature of the species.
>>56846336People dress up as random celebs, i don't really see why it'd be a problem.
>What is the most technologically advanced thing that you think the PMD would should have? The fact that photographs probably can't exist in the PMD world makes me sad. No baby pictures or family photo albums.Anyone middle class or below can probably only afford to get a yearly family portrait drawn/painted by a professional.
>>56839748This image made me think about the specifics of how to draw/describe a character being blind. I've always hated when people get lazy and go "Oh their eyes are just closed all the time" because the eyelids don't just naturally sit closed and look all cute, it's something you muscles have to actively do. It's why they tape your eyes closed while under general anesthetics.I imagine, realistically, that Pirth could look one of three ways, that I have drawn for reference.>1. Eyes are always unfocused, with pupils either completely dilated due to a fucked up retina, or that classic "milky" look that comes from something obscuring the lense of the eye.>2. Born with no eyeballs at all, but the eyelids are either fused together from birth or somehow sealed closed to prevent infections in the open eye sockets. There would be visible concave spots where his eyeballs would be.>3.Like your pic seems to show, either have him wear little dark glasses or go full "Blind Nigga Samurai" and wrap his eyes in a cloth like an anime character. It could be anything you want under there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a9gQKfvoJE Also there's nothing wrong with not being able to draw very well. Any art is good art. Keep up the good work anon!
>>56846397Ghostface is very offensive, anon. Please don't post this here

New Story: Dav goes bald b4 his big date.Read: https://rentry.org/CrusaderIntermission1(this takes place before the summer festival, I'll set a proper homepage up sometime)This story marks the start of a "intermission" for Team Crusader. Chapter 6 was the end of "Act 1" Before more fun/serious stuff happens to the group, i'm just gonna write some stories to just flesh out characters and whatnot.
>>56853135Aww, that was cute. Good story, anon.I definitely ship them.Kind of makes me wonder exactly how common former humans are in the world as well - what the demographics are even when not being skewed extremely hard by the presence of the guild.
>>56853227Even with Clover Guild's abundance of humans they are still a significant minority in the pmd world. If it weren't for the guild forming and sheer coincidence, it's likely that humans would go their entire lives without meeting each other
>>56853663>coincidence>he doesn't know about Lliam's ultragigabrain masterplan
>>56854757Ah, yes. Lliam's mustache curling deeplore that was so unhinged that it wasn't kept anywhere on the rentry.
>>56848147Yeah I think I'm going to stick with three (great art by the way!), though initially I was thinking of doing eyes half-opened like Clayton Bigsby, which is a partial inspiration for Pirth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLNDqxrUUwQ) but I felt that the eyeband could be his team "bandana" once its been made. And thank you for the encouragement!>>56849622Thank you so much for the art! It's really nice and you captured d'Alin perfectly! I'm looking forward to returning to writing soon.

>>56837160Good story anon(s). There were some surprises in there. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the story, and the action. There was more revealed from Kiyo's backstory, which was interesting. Although he's prominent, there's still a lot of questions around him. He and Booker have interesting chemistry.I especially enjoyed all the cute parts. I'm not a coomer, but it is nice to have my theory confirmed that Kiyo is made for snuggling

>>56859067It might actually be better if they did
>>56859404Why do you like your scalies with hair? I hate scalies with hair.

>>56858495Not really a fan of that style>>56858509More like a rickshaw, since you move the vehicle yourself>>56859566Looks like Spinda said it, actually
>>56858500It's not when the cart puller isn't wearing a fucking bridle like >>56858433. A bridle is for controlling a horse and telling it which direction/what pace to go, something you don't need when you can have a full conversation with the guy doing the pulling. Most carriage pullers probably own their own carts and are fully capable of directing and driving it without the complete control of a fucking backseat driver like these gross kecleon. I hate this image a lot. They went to the effort to give the Mudsdale a bridle, but couldn't be bothered giving it a strap around its shoulders like a real harness.I'm actually still playing around with a character that does exactly this. A human turned horse-mon that immediately makes himself a little gypsy traveler vardo wagon to live in and make a living as what is basically a cabbie that travels anywhere he wants, because his body is his car. Just completely leaned into the horse lifestyle because what else are you supposed to do? Other human mons hate him because he is truly free.He also uses his psychic powers to DJ in his free time and constantly hints to his passengers that he is available for wedding and graduation gigs.
>>56860934How would he DJ in a world without records or record players?Captcha:RAPSJN
>>56862009With his encyclopedic knowledge of white people club anthems and his magical, psychic-type unicorn abilities.Psychic types can do all sorts of weird shit with their powers that don't really make much sense.I'm reasoning that one could use their powers to warp sound waves and produce techno synth beats, or even beam music directly into people's minds. Pokemon talk telepathically and cast images and shit, I figure why not something like a series of repeating beats and/or vocals. I'm talking this kind of shit:>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KztNIg4cvE>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y_vsVA1_IE>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32slio4TZBMI've seen worse reasoning for stupider stuff. A Porygon could probably just become their own boombox if they really wanted to. The question is "Why the fuck would anyone want to do that?">the answer is for attentionPic related. An awful proof of concept sketch.
>>56858433This harness is incompetently designed. It seems to only be a single, solid piece of wood relying primarily on friction to stay in place.>>56862467This harness is much better. Everything is logically connected and actually makes proper sense.
>>56860166kek
>>56862554To be fair, even I've fucked it up here.>>56862467 Turns out it's actually pretty complicated to rig up a creature to an entire vehicle.I only recently learned that carriage horses usually need two points of contact to properly pull something and that the big poles on the side are more for balance and steering than actually bearing weight.Tropius needs to pull his head out of his own ass and get himself a big cart and a properly fitted harness. He'd be the most popular guy in town.
>>56862467Clover Guild's Porygon used computer programs to play music because it is literally a digital pokemon. That's part of its whole gimmick. I think you could have a psychic type make music and do some very interesting stuff with its abilities. I suppose vocals could be projected somehow with psychic powers if you really stretch the limitations of psychics. But just manipulating sound waves with its psychic powers to make techno beats is retarded. Maybe have it use psychic powers to interact with the environment more rather than spontaneously generating music
>>56862467>>56862794I don't think "psychic music" is that far out there, especially when there is a psychic sound-based attack. That being said, I do think straight out playing music from thin air is stretching it a bit. Maybe it is better if he can only "play" it directly into people's minds rather than actually producing sound waves, as mentioned in "beam music directly into people's minds".Could even lead to some fun scenes like having a bunch or people silently standing there with a pleased look on their faces, then someone passing by wonders wtf they are doing.
>>56862794Lol I concede yes it is retarded, I'm very tired.I do like the idea of just dinging and rattling things in his immediate vicinity to make multiple noises at once, like a Looney Tunes musical sequence. Hooves are already a natural percussive tool.Alternatively, just gathers as many "instruments" as he can and attempts a one horse one-man-band. Really stretch the limit on how much absurd bullshit one person can manage to put on themselves (both literally and figuratively). Taskmaxxing.>>56863059I like this too. Like a silent disco, but even more embarrassing.I don't mean to shit up the thread with useless OC faggotry and I will stop if preferred. I just like throwing around character ideas and drawing pictures of them. I enjoy the discussion.
I have ideas for those three Oricorios, too.
Don't worry, he's not exploding--he's just fluffing himself up with Cotton Guard.>>56835369I've been neglecting thread questions, so I'll answer these ones.>What is the most technologically advanced thing that you think the PMD world should have?I always imagined the world having mostly medieval-level tech, but Pokemon's abilities and the items found in dungeons might allow them to develop/build some more advanced things than you'd expect.>Do you prefer PMD dungeons that attempt puzzles/gimmicks like aegis cave, or do you always want them to have a more traditional challenge?Gimmicks can be a neat way to break up the formula, but only if they're handled well. Case in point, Aegis Cave was a nightmare.>Do you like having strong miniboss-like enemies roaming in dungeons, such as the "strong foes" in rtdx?I think it's a cool idea, as long as it's balanced and the minibosses aren't super OP.>What is your most hated piece of PMD fan media (comics, art, romhacks, etc.)?I haven't dived very deep into PMD fanworks, honestly. I've seen some low-quality fanworks, but I don't exactly hate any of them.

>>56870615Never knew that. Why did they do that? Was it to make recruitment go faster and feel less repetitive, since you'd already played the game once?
>>56870895I think so. The unboosted rates match Time/Darkness, so picking "no" is just playing the game as originally intended.
now draw them teleporting bread
>>56870653In my first playthrough one of the coolest moments for me was my partner Munchlax using Metronome into Endeavor on the final boss of the main story, allowing me to chunk it down with a few more +2 Ginseng Thunder Fangs, and back then I told myself I'd pick Munchlax as a partner every time I'd play the game from then on.But now around a decade later I realized that that would probably be boring, so I picked a partner I've never given much attention to, in any Pokemon game, and that happened to be Vulpix. I'm hoping the Ground types end up being more of a challenge instead of... annoying.also Imprison seems really good lmao
>>56871148Personally I dropped Imprison, it's so broken it takes away some of the fun. Same deal as Attract in Rescue Team. (OG)
>>56871179I guess if I come to the same conclusion, I'll swap it for Confuse Ray
>>56864077Potentially. Him as his team would technically exist in the canon, but he wouldn't be tied down to the guild. He'd probably have some form of acquaintanceship with the guild and the pokemon in it, and pops into town on occasion for a drink with the lads.I like the idea that they sort of just wander all over the grass continent going where they want because they live in his vardo caravan. I was thinking of writing up a couple of very short stories about them, but they're more of a side thing. I don't want to take too much of my time away from stuff with my main team and their stories. They're sort of just there for me to experiment with drawing more complex stuff (horses, birds and vehicles) from time to time. It takes way longer and is way more of a pain in the ass, so I don't want to tie myself down with it too much.Team Petal-Purr are simple, rounded shapes that are comfy and easy to draw. These guys are the exact opposite in every way, I'm already burned out from drawing them this much.I also like the comedy of a frequent Ketamine abuser becoming a horse in an unfortunate twist of irony.

What would be the most fun part if you got isekaid in PMD?I think it would probably be actually BEING a pokemon. It sounds so fun to be in a super different body, having new parts, having a tail, etc.close second would be meeting other pokemon!
>>56888457I think you hit the nail right on the head, anon.
>>56888457i always thought the idea of being isekai'd as a machop would be novel in it's own weird way since your general instinct of fistfighting would carry over albeit with enhanced strength

Also drew the bane of Ikarus' existence, using a borzoi (I love these guys like you wouldn't believe) as reference. I'll figure out some way to put these into a story once I get back to writing.
Also enjoy Blossom holding up Shelby so she can get a better view of the Summer Festival!

Explorers games expanded on this very well from the Rescue team games.>>cant even pick your starter for some gay pop psychology quizIf a gimmick made to fascinate children bothers you that much, the questions and results are known data and you can cheat the quiz to give you the starter you want usually within a few soft resets depending on the questions given. IIRC Gates to Infinity did away with the personality test at the cost of having only 5 options to pick from, then Super Mystery Dungeon reintroduced it with the option to override the results of the test, as well as Rescue Team DX>>but le hecking storyreally weird thing that happens when you play story-driven video games, you have to give them adequate time to do their job, which is to immerse you in the world with its story and characters. While I think Team Meanies is kinda retarded in general, and the concept of malicious Rescue/Exploration teams in general breaks my personal immersion with the games, in Red Rescue Team at least, the game definitely picks up quick after where you are right now.
>>56894078Basically you either really like random dungeon shit, or really want to play as a talking pokemon, and then put up with it because of those. If quality of life shit is driving you insane I'd probably consider DX instead of red

>>56893232yeah I don't have the 'brosing deviantart for hours' skill
>>56894534shhhh don't point that out, pmd still has the best writing in all of pokemon comparatively
>>56894534It overexplains everything. Seems to just be a thing in jrpgs from my experience but I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of the genre outside of pokemon
>>56894534it's a japanese thing that doesn't translate to english very well. it'd be one thing if the characters actually had voices with intonations (i'm not suggesting that this is necessary btw but the implication in and of itself) but most of the time they don't.it's one of those things that is just present throughout the series where they'll repeat dialogue to drill the nature of the thing down. the whole series suffers from it
>>56894639after replaying Explorers of Sky, and finishing the main story, I'm still kind of reeling over the sheer amount of seemingly unnecessary flashbacks they give you in every chapterthey really expected you to knock out one chapter a day, or maybe not because even in chapters like where you're exploring Waterfall Cave, after the ordeal you get flashbacks to events you witnessed literally 2-3 minutes prior, in case you weren't paying attention.
>>56894668they load save points all throughout the game, so it's clear they expected someone to be putting the game down before all of them and therefore forgetting the plot if they weren't going to come back for a period of time. it's egregious, but it's still a handheld game at the end of the day, so that's probably why it's so crazy

>>56896262It doesn't annoy or upset me, but I'm genuinely curious. If you're going to change this much, why not just make an actual original character not tied to the Pokemon franchise? Is it autism?

>>56894668Almost done with the Explorers of Sky postgame story, still very unsure about what to do with my team's moves. A little concerned about Rhyperior with its Lightningrod ruining things for me.I've got starter Shinx with Thunder Fang+2, Crunch, and linked Charge+Discharge, might get rid of Charge for something like Iron Tail (if I find the TM) since my SpA is high now from Gummi drinks.Partner is Vulpix with Flamethrower, Feint Attack, Quick Attack, and Imprison. Thinking about adding Dig over something. There aren't many great coverage options for either Pokemon currently so I'm a bit stumped on what to do, mainly because of the final boss arena with Rhyperior.Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'd gladly take suggestions.
Any mon with a pretty simple design I can practice freehanding on? I want to be productive while I procrastinate lol. Also, not too great a color selection available so I'll do my best :/
>>56899506Dig is great in these games, especially on the leader as you can anticipate approaching enemies.Dark Pulse might be better than Faint Attack as it can hit multiple enemies, but it's not a TM I've come across very often.
>>56899626Dig would be good coverage, but of the two, only Vulpix can learn it. Could go over Quick Attack, but I like it for reaching past me as the leader with Shinx...Wait, is it possible to do post-game starter/partner-locked missions/dungeons with the partner as the leader Pokemon? I've never tried it before. Unfortunately I overwrote Shinx's egg move Quick Attack awhile ago, so I wouldn't benefit from that again.Likewise, I've been contemplating Dark Pulse over Feint Attack for awhile ever since I've had the TM, but I just wasn't a fan of the low accuracy and total PP loss, so I put it off.
>>56899692>Wait, is it possible to do post-game starter/partner-locked missions/dungeons with the partner as the leader Pokemon?I believe not, but there's only a handful of those (Mt. Travail(?) > Dark Crater) so I usually mix it up for the other postgame dungeons.
>>56899692Decided it was finally time to put Feint Attack to rest in place of Dark Pulse, which I had 3 TMs for apparently. Swapped out her Quick Attack for Dig for better coverage for the Fire types in Dark Crater. On Shinx, I'm going to teach Facade over Charge at least for this final dungeon since Rhyperior's Lightning Rod in both the boss and random dungeon encounters is going to make the linked Discharge combo a lot less useful, and burns should be plentiful with all the Fire types.Unfortunately Shinx has Survivalist from IQ, so I can't force a burn with Grimy Food. Could bring multiple and simply try my luck but I feel like that's getting too gimmicky, and I probably need the bag space for Reviver Seeds anyways>>56899751Just checked this to see what happens for Dark Crater, and the partner has specific dialogue when you set them to be the leader, saying that the player has always been the leader for important missions like this. You're then given the option to Accept Leadership or Refuse, and if you Refuse, the partner says they're not confident enough to be leader, and that you should be the leader anyways. Neat and interesting little dialogue there, though it's still a little odd to hear that coming from the partner after all the character growth they've gone through in the game prior to this.
>>56900052Dyke pairing SPOTTED
>>56900226The game has a surprising amount of dialogue barely anyone would see, like cutscenes for failing at Drenched Bluff or sentry duty, or Lapras's dialogue if you return after Grovyle leaves but before finishing Temporal Tower.

>>56901708Are you still doing the alternate versions of the stories with the art and music and stuff? I don't see them on your homepage.
Typing this before I go to bed because it's very late for me, but I just finished The Weather Up There and it's fantastic. The custom sprites and maps are such a wonderful touch, and it makes the story feel so much more lively. I had such a big smile on my face watching Tropius wander around the Clover Guild and talking to all it's members, seeing all their personalities. It made the place feel so lively. Also nothing in a rom hack has ever impressed me more than actually making Torchic ride on Phanpy, that was crazy. I don't want to spoil the story just in case, and I'm too tired to remember how to spoiler text, but I'll just say Tropius's arc was very touching, and there were scenes that made my eyes well with tears, as well as scenes that made me "d'awww" audibly. There's never a dull line of dialog either. These hacks are written with the same genius that the og games are where you can pick a perfect voice for the character shown in your head the moment they start talking. Everybody feels so unique and fun.It was just all around a good time, very clever humor, timing, writing, the works. If there are more Clover Guild hacks in the future I wanna be the first to play em. This shit gives me life and Cyndaquil scares me. Congrats to those who worked on this!!

>>56900359Okay, are evolution stones normally this hard to get a hold of legit? I've been grinding Mystifying Forest and Midnight Forest for Kecleon shops on odd-numbered floors for a Fire Stone, pretty much since I finished the post-game story the other day and just about every single one has had a Sun Stone and a King's Rock instead of a Fire Stone for my partner. Also don't have Lake Afar yet because its locked behind Recycling and I don't want to get anything other than Prism Tickets.
I don't remember anything about the story of explorers other than some of the broad strokes and it being long, but I was thinking of replaying it. Does it actually hold up, or is it more like "it's good for a pokemon game story"?
>>56906857As someone who just finished it the other day for the first time in almost a decade, it's a little cheesy, still sort of campy, and if you know how to play the game you'll get silly shit like 2HKOing a boss and still getting your ass kicked in the cutscene after, but I'd say at the very least, it's still good.I wish it didn't rely *heavily* on certain plot devices, but I get why it does, since it's a game meant for kids. As long as you go into it with a grounded mindset like that, you should have a good time.
>>56907265>>56907265>>56907265
So are all of the characters in Super the same as they were in previous games? Some characters I've recruited make references to stuff they did before in those games, but how does that work with Gardevoir being a main character in Rescue Team and also a member of Team Charm?
