This image made me think about the specifics of how to draw/describe a character being blind. I've always hated when people get lazy and go "Oh their eyes are just closed all the time" because the eyelids don't just naturally sit closed and look all cute, it's something you muscles have to actively do. It's why they tape your eyes closed while under general anesthetics.
I imagine, realistically, that Pirth could look one of three ways, that I have drawn for reference.

>1. Eyes are always unfocused, with pupils either completely dilated due to a fucked up retina, or that classic "milky" look that comes from something obscuring the lense of the eye.
>2. Born with no eyeballs at all, but the eyelids are either fused together from birth or somehow sealed closed to prevent infections in the open eye sockets. There would be visible concave spots where his eyeballs would be.
>3.Like your pic seems to show, either have him wear little dark glasses or go full "Blind Nigga Samurai" and wrap his eyes in a cloth like an anime character. It could be anything you want under there.

Good story anon(s). There were some surprises in there. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the story, and the action. There was more revealed from Kiyo's backstory, which was interesting. Although he's prominent, there's still a lot of questions around him. He and Booker have interesting chemistry.

A bridle is for controlling a horse and telling it which direction/what pace to go, something you don't need when you can have a full conversation with the guy doing the pulling. Most carriage pullers probably own their own carts and are fully capable of directing and driving it without the complete control of a fucking backseat driver like these gross kecleon. I hate this image a lot. They went to the effort to give the Mudsdale a bridle, but couldn't be bothered giving it a strap around its shoulders like a real harness.

I'm actually still playing around with a character that does exactly this. A human turned horse-mon that immediately makes himself a little gypsy traveler vardo wagon to live in and make a living as what is basically a cabbie that travels anywhere he wants, because his body is his car. Just completely leaned into the horse lifestyle because what else are you supposed to do? Other human mons hate him because he is truly free.

He also uses his psychic powers to DJ in his free time and constantly hints to his passengers that he is available for wedding and graduation gigs.

Turns out it's actually pretty complicated to rig up a creature to an entire vehicle.
I only recently learned that carriage horses usually need two points of contact to properly pull something and that the big poles on the side are more for balance and steering than actually bearing weight.

Tropius needs to pull his head out of his own ass and get himself a big cart and a properly fitted harness. He'd be the most popular guy in town.

I don't think "psychic music" is that far out there, especially when there is a psychic sound-based attack.
That being said, I do think straight out playing music from thin air is stretching it a bit. Maybe it is better if he can only "play" it directly into people's minds rather than actually producing sound waves, as mentioned in "beam music directly into people's minds".
Could even lead to some fun scenes like having a bunch or people silently standing there with a pleased look on their faces, then someone passing by wonders wtf they are doing.

I always imagined the world having mostly medieval-level tech, but Pokemon's abilities and the items found in dungeons might allow them to develop/build some more advanced things than you'd expect.

Gimmicks can be a neat way to break up the formula, but only if they're handled well. Case in point, Aegis Cave was a nightmare.

Time/Darkness just uses the non-boosted rates. I believe Chunsoft implemented it like this just to reduce a little of the tedium for returning players as there isn't a save transfer system, but didn't want to make it a blanket buff.

In my first playthrough one of the coolest moments for me was my partner Munchlax using Metronome into Endeavor on the final boss of the main story, allowing me to chunk it down with a few more +2 Ginseng Thunder Fangs, and back then I told myself I'd pick Munchlax as a partner every time I'd play the game from then on.
But now around a decade later I realized that that would probably be boring, so I picked a partner I've never given much attention to, in any Pokemon game, and that happened to be Vulpix. I'm hoping the Ground types end up being more of a challenge instead of... annoying.

Potentially. Him as his team would technically exist in the canon, but he wouldn't be tied down to the guild. He'd probably have some form of acquaintanceship with the guild and the pokemon in it, and pops into town on occasion for a drink with the lads.

I like the idea that they sort of just wander all over the grass continent going where they want because they live in his vardo caravan. I was thinking of writing up a couple of very short stories about them, but they're more of a side thing. I don't want to take too much of my time away from stuff with my main team and their stories.
They're sort of just there for me to experiment with drawing more complex stuff (horses, birds and vehicles) from time to time. It takes way longer and is way more of a pain in the ass, so I don't want to tie myself down with it too much.
Team Petal-Purr are simple, rounded shapes that are comfy and easy to draw.
These guys are the exact opposite in every way, I'm already burned out from drawing them this much.
I also like the comedy of a frequent Ketamine abuser becoming a horse in an unfortunate twist of irony.

I'm kind of indecisive at heart and would like to be a Ditto. I'd probably be an outcast to some and a friend to others due to being a polymorphic protoplasm that has no identity of its own. I'd hope they could learn to withhold favorite forms with enough training and expertise. But on a serious note, I guess it would be the sense of freedom. Being able to live off of missions money alone, without having to worry about long-term career paths or other fuckeries and pressures of the modern world.

Games don't explain it well, but you as the player have limited control over your team member's actions, down to the moves they can use on any given turn, their movement behavior patterns, and feeding them Gummis increases a stat called IQ that unlocks generally useful advanced AI tactics you can toggle on and off. Explorers games expanded on this very well from the Rescue team games.

If a gimmick made to fascinate children bothers you that much, the questions and results are known data and you can cheat the quiz to give you the starter you want usually within a few soft resets depending on the questions given. IIRC Gates to Infinity did away with the personality test at the cost of having only 5 options to pick from, then Super Mystery Dungeon reintroduced it with the option to override the results of the test, as well as Rescue Team DX

really weird thing that happens when you play story-driven video games, you have to give them adequate time to do their job, which is to immerse you in the world with its story and characters. after replaying Explorers of Sky, and finishing the main story, I'm still kind of reeling over the sheer amount of seemingly unnecessary flashbacks they give you in every chapter

they really expected you to knock out one chapter a day, or maybe not because even in chapters like where you're exploring Waterfall Cave, after the ordeal you get flashbacks to events you witnessed literally 2-3 minutes prior, in case you weren't paying attention.

Almost done with the Explorers of Sky postgame story, still very unsure about what to do with my team's moves. A little concerned about Rhyperior with its Lightningrod ruining things for me.
I've got starter Shinx with Thunder Fang+2, Crunch, and linked Charge+Discharge, might get rid of Charge for something like Iron Tail (if I find the TM) since my SpA is high now from Gummi drinks.
Partner is Vulpix with Flamethrower, Feint Attack, Quick Attack, and Imprison. Thinking about adding Dig over something.

There aren't many great coverage options for either Pokemon currently so I'm a bit stumped on what to do, mainly because of the final boss arena with Rhyperior.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'd gladly take suggestions.

Dig is great in these games, especially on the leader as you can anticipate approaching enemies.
Dark Pulse might be better than Faint Attack as it can hit multiple enemies, but it's not a TM I've come across very often.

Wait, is it possible to do post-game starter/partner-locked missions/dungeons with the partner as the leader Pokemon? I've never tried it before. Unfortunately I overwrote Shinx's egg move Quick Attack awhile ago, so I wouldn't benefit from that again.
Likewise, I've been contemplating Dark Pulse over Feint Attack for awhile ever since I've had the TM, but I just wasn't a fan of the low accuracy and total PP loss, so I put it off.

Decided it was finally time to put Feint Attack to rest in place of Dark Pulse, which I had 3 TMs for apparently. Swapped out her Quick Attack for Dig for better coverage for the Fire types in Dark Crater.
On Shinx, I'm going to teach Facade over Charge at least for this final dungeon since Rhyperior's Lightning Rod in both the boss and random dungeon encounters is going to make the linked Discharge combo a lot less useful, and burns should be plentiful with all the Fire types.
Unfortunately Shinx has Survivalist from IQ, so I can't force a burn with Grimy Food. Could bring multiple and simply try my luck but I feel like that's getting too gimmicky, and I probably need the bag space for Reviver Seeds anyways

Just checked this to see what happens for Dark Crater, and the partner has specific dialogue when you set them to be the leader, saying that the player has always been the leader for important missions like this.
You're then given the option to Accept Leadership or Refuse, and if you Refuse, the partner says they're not confident enough to be leader, and that you should be the leader anyways.
Neat and interesting little dialogue there, though it's still a little odd to hear that coming from the partner after all the character growth they've gone through in the game prior to this.

The game has a surprising amount of dialogue barely anyone would see, like cutscenes for failing at Drenched Bluff or sentry duty, or Lapras's dialogue if you return after Grovyle leaves but before finishing Temporal Tower.

It was a firered hack I think, it had both Kanto and then Johto and there was a seven sages thing, a lv 80-100 trainer near the starting area
I played it around 2 years ago, late 2022 ish so the romhack isn't more recent than that

Typing this before I go to bed because it's very late for me, but I just finished The Weather Up There and it's fantastic.

The custom sprites and maps are such a wonderful touch, and it makes the story feel so much more lively. I had such a big smile on my face watching Tropius wander around the Clover Guild and talking to all it's members, seeing all their personalities. It made the place feel so lively. Also nothing in a rom hack has ever impressed me more than actually making Torchic ride on Phanpy, that was crazy.

I don't want to spoil the story just in case, and I'm too tired to remember how to spoiler text, but I'll just say Tropius's arc was very touching, and there were scenes that made my eyes well with tears, as well as scenes that made me "d'awww" audibly. There's never a dull line of dialog either. These hacks are written with the same genius that the og games are where you can pick a perfect voice for the character shown in your head the moment they start talking. Everybody feels so unique and fun.

It was just all around a good time, very clever humor, timing, writing, the works. If there are more Clover Guild hacks in the future I wanna be the first to play em. This shit gives me life and Cyndaquil scares me. Congrats to those who worked on this!!

We'll definitely be doing another hack whenever the skytemple mods decide to get off their ass and announce another jam, but who knows when that'll be exactly. Hopefully sooner than later.

they're still on an indefinite hiatus so i don't want to say no outright, and i do have something in the works that i intend to replace them but i still need to focus group it.
was thinking of doing something akin to an audiobook for a while; the stories are pretty damn long already and ideally i'd like to get something a bit "easier" to digest. given that, i could also include some art again too and make them videos - i wasn't really happy with a lot of the art i did for the full editions, so if i do go back to art for them it'll be marginally less than before. trying to strive for quality over quantity.

Okay, are evolution stones normally this hard to get a hold of legit? I've been grinding Mystifying Forest and Midnight Forest for Kecleon shops on odd-numbered floors for a Fire Stone, pretty much since I finished the post-game story the other day and just about every single one has had a Sun Stone and a King's Rock instead of a Fire Stone for my partner. Also don't have Lake Afar yet because its locked behind Recycling and I don't want to get anything other than Prism Tickets.

As someone who just finished it the other day for the first time in almost a decade, it's a little cheesy, still sort of campy, and if you know how to play the game you'll get silly shit like 2HKOing a boss and still getting your ass kicked in the cutscene after, but I'd say at the very least, it's still good.

I wish it didn't rely *heavily* on certain plot devices, but I get why it does, since it's a game meant for kids. As long as you go into it with a grounded mindset like that, you should have a good time.
