A thread for the creation and discussion of fan fiction and other fanworks - anything that involves a story and/or reading.>Thread question:We've got just under two months left in the year. Is there anything in particular you want to try finish and publish before the year ends? The clock is ticking...I had hoped to have my Marnie VN finished and released before Christmas, but I don't think I'm going to make that deadline. Progress is coming along, but there's so much left to do, and I have this pesky full-time job IRL that eats up all my time.Old:>>56797555
>>56845319A crossover I guess? I love Solomon Kane so I wanted a storie where beside Pokémon, non-human races exist. A few years back I got into a story where Gladio larped as a vampire hunter because he saw a bite on Lillie's neck that were done by her lover just to end up finding real vampires
>>56845319https://archiveofourown.org/works/59758336/chapters/152426965Started working on a longform fic after doing nothing but oneshots (my own ideas and comms) - it's actually been rather nice doing something with consistency. Having deadlines really does force you to write, even if they are just for me.
Pokemedieval shit?
>>56845850It would be extremely difficult
>see an interesting summary for a new fic>"oc female mc"dropped :/
>>56846129Link please sounds pretty based.
>>56846129if the story somehow had my interest from its summary then i'd give it the first chapter a read anyway before dropping it.most summaries are terrible and say shit like "oc female mc" at the very end of it, usually the problem is everything else. for example: "hey you ever think about what it'd be like to be ISEKAI'D and be on a POKEMON adventure? and it isn't EXACTLY like the games either, you'll have to read and find out hehe (oc female mc)"
>>56846537Aren't those summaries the meta? Like fast food summaries anyone with taste recognizes them for the filth they are but the common pleb will be drawn in.
>>56846537I just go straight to the comments and read criticism and general sentiment if the tags don't filter me. Helps avoid reading 50 chapters only for the author to do a retarded tone shift nobody liked.
>>56846566"meta" summaries are fast food slop and are thus still capable of being good or bad>>56846575If the story seemingly has consistent updates for a reasonable amount of time, then I'll look at comments/reviews/etc too.Hell, I'd likely give the first few chapters a chance at that point anyway.
>>56846129>oc female mc>her demeanor is indistinguishable from that of a male with assburgersIf you're reading a woman written by your man, the author is most likely a current or soon to be AGP troon.
>>56846575>>56846587When I like a summary I look at the first reviews the story got, first impressions are hard to beat
>>56846129>oc female mc that lived in the worldCompletely fine>oc female mc that got isekai'd and was originally a maleNow there's a red flag, expect at least 10+ chapters of angst with a gross "just accept those urges bro" acceptance message rather than simply ignoring the meat and powering through the dreams of enslaving gods using tiny capsules
Fellas, explain to me the difference between FF.net and AO3. Is AO3 primarily a fujo den and FF.net is better for non-fujo stuff? AO3 gets five times the traffic but the top stories seem to have a lot less hits than FF.net's top stories.
>>56846641AO3 is borderline unusable for finding stories with how heavily abused its tag system is, but writers who bother to get creative can do some interesting stuff with custom formatting.FF has an incredibly barebones searching and sorting function while being significantly older.Anything decent tends to be crossposted anyway so pick your poison.
>>56846641AO3 has actual good tag searching and sorting, and therefore discoverability. Definitely install userscripts like ao3 savior, tag savior, etc. that allow you to filter out bullshit tags, hide works with specific tags or too many tags, and so on, but once you do it's an infinitely better user experience than any other fanfiction site. As a writer I'd still post to both, but as a reader looking for new stories, AO3 is unmatched. I don't care about the audiences, fujos can go sit in their corner. Just tick "exclude M/M" and while you cut the number of fics by a huge fraction, it's still bigger than anyone could ever read. If you want interaction, you should be posting on a forum (QQ or even SB) instead of an archive anyway.
>>56846652what about Royal Road?
I wanna try writing a fic with an OC, but it's like gunna be my first time writing an OC for Pokemon. I know to stay in line, use game references and the anime as guidelines to keep the atmosphere. But what tips can you anons give when writing OC stories? Also, what's the situation like in Ao3? Besides Fujo shit
>>56847339It's good.
>>56847339For a long story (short stories will not make it in royal road) I'd suggest finishing a few arcs and then releasing them daily to game the algorithm there because everyone else does the same.Until you get such a backlog use one of the other sites.
>>56847356Characters are only as interesting as their flaws.Other than the fujoshit and tag abuse, there really isn't anything else wrong with it. I quite like it, even though converting my doc into html format is kind of a pain in the ass. As long as you don't mind that, then you're golden.
>>56846641AO3 is a place to store fics, not a place to find or discuss them. It has no communication or social features. But it allows smut.
Honestly, there's no reason for you to not post your stories in every single place there is. Post them in all three of places, ff.net, AO3 and Spacebattles. The only one you shouldn't post nilly willy at is Royal Road because that place is algorithm festival. >>56847501 makes a decent point. However, if you're just writing normally there's no reason to not post your thing in all three sites at the same time.

>>56848797That's not a thing, Kiki

>>56848757Not even the anime has tried push the idea that some Pokemon are just "built better".Well, except legendaries, but you know, those don't count. Even the rat was a shitter at first and took it regions worth of experience to start being worth shit.Honestly the only two examples that come to mind as just "genetics" are Ash's Lucario who went from egg to Champion-tier in "months" and Ash's Dracovish who was resurrected Champion-tier just because and by that time in the anime the writing had gotten so extremely terribad it's not even worth thinking about.
>>56848884>Ash's Lucario who went from egg to Champion-tier in "month"Duped by Ash's aura since the faggot has a lot of it or something
>>56848917Isn't he related to the aura guy? I don't remember the movie
>>56848932Not that we know of.
>>56848932Nah, reincarnation might be possible but by blood? Unlikely
>>56848757Nutrition
>>56846537Not gonna lie, I usually don't let summaries dissuade me from at least opening up the fic and seeing how it's formatted (bad formatting is one of my peeves), but if I came across a summary like that, I might pass on it on cringe alone.
>>56846129I avoid female MCs most of the time. They tend to be the 'quirky' types. Especially if they are SIs.

Not a fic technically but I want to write a dating sim into an essentials game. What would people prefer? Would a generic school setting with OCs be the better route or would having gym leaders and trainers from the games be more popular?
>>56851861How's that even a question? Not trying to sound rude but it's hard to sell OCs, that's why SIs involved with the games/anime plots are more popular nowadays
>>56851861A dating sim with a 2d RPG engine? Sounds... sub-optimal. Essentials is good for having environments to explore (dungeons and whatnot) and turn-based battles. You're better off using a visual novel engine.>generic school settingComplete waste of the pokemon IP to set it in a generic school instead of setting it somewhere pokemon-related>with OCs... or would having gym leaders and trainers from the games be more popularI'm neutral on OC's but you'll draw a larger audience by using existing characters. I think a mix of OC's and canon characters is preferable.

>>56848829Challenge accepted.
>>56847312>Just tick "exclude M/M">Over half the fics bypass it by using 'multiple relationships'>The main relationship is still gayI fucking despise A03's refusal to implement a community tag system like almost every other site on the Internet that allows in-depth, descriptive, custom tagging
>>56853942>exclude m/m>"multiple relationships" bypasses it anyway>not to mention all the faggots that don't even tag the damn relationship in the first place so it comes out of left field>on top of all this, they force ships even in gen fics and most fics without the gay shit tag every single friendship because every author using AO3 as their main site is a giant fucking autistI only use AO3 if it's a fic crossposted from FFN and the author is using custom formatting while actively telling people that they have custom shit on the AO3 version if you're reading it on a different site.
>>56853962The lack of genre tags is infuriatingAt least on FFnet at least 90% of users actually collectively understood to keep the shipfics exclusive to the romance tag back in the day
>>56854008Even if the story somehow had three genres and they decided to not tag the fic as romance (i.e. "Adventure/Fantasy" as genre A/B and leaving out that it has Romance), FFnet also has people actually respecting the damned designated pairing tags which even further prevents the AO3 problem. You don't see [Ash, Misty] on every fucking Kanto fic involving Ash, the only stories that do that are obviously shipping ones and generally had Romance as a secondary tag if it was a main focus.Meanwhile on AO3, if a story has Ash on it then it's virtually guaranteed to have Ash/(Traveling Companion) at least five fucking times in the tags, so it's a complete mystery on if it's a normal story or if the retard is shipping one of those relationships and "forgot" to tag the fucking fic as m/m or m/f or whatever the hell they're doing in the story so you have a pretty large chance of stumbling into pokefucking.
>>56854044>pretty large chance of stumbling into pokefuckingGod, don't remind of the degradation of that sub genreI miss the early 2010's back when nonhuman female shipping started gaining enough popular traction to regularly spawn 50k minimum length fics across multiple fandoms. Shit got hit with such a devastating decline around the 2018-2020's, all the woketards screaming about 'muh straight cisoid pandering' since haven't helped it recover any eitherNowadays unless it's 'gay' (troon) slop, or white women fucking dog/animalistic 'personality mon, pokefucking is only slightly less dead af than the others simply by requiremnt of it's fandoms size
>>56853464Your/Mom
>>56847356It's important to give your character flaws. These flaws need to actually matter, and challenge them. Say you have a character who's a shut-in; well, one of their flaws could be they're always anxious, unable to properly communicate their feelings, and comes off as rude without meaning to. This can land them in trouble, and get them see as a bad person. Their journey could be to learn how to interact with others - again, if they became a shut-in after some bad event.Maybe they decide to become a Trainer out of the blue, and this becomes a vehicle for their growth. They can then come to the realization that it wasn't quite a whim that spurred them to become a Trainer, but that deep down, they knew they couldn't keep living as they were.Again, these should matter, and have consequences. If this same hypothetical character constantly acted like an asshole, and everyone who wasn't an antagonist praised them for it, well, that's not really a flaw, now is it?
>>56854223What if their flaw is being too awesome and cool for SOCIETY...
>>56846066Rekkuza?Rayquaza?
>>56853464Nanomachines/son! (yes, the exclamation point is part of the pronoun).
>>56847312It's not a problem for Pokemon but for other fandoms, you also have to exclude all the reader/male character tags and writers don't bother to add "reader" as a character so you have to manually go in and exclude each individual ship. Also crossovers are impossible to find for a lot of series, I have no fucking idea what their criteria is for separating or merging series for having both an anime and manga. But in the case of the latter, if someone has tagged a series like "Fire Force (manga)" and "Fire Force (anime)" and nothing else, ao3 would consider it a crossover.
>fic includes hand-drawn art>fic does the above but it's fan art>fic uses crude MS paint art>fic uses AI art>fic uses KK studio>fic uses posed action figuresit's always amusing when someone slaps some art into their fic to show characters or give emphasis to certain scenesdo you have any favorites you've run into?
>>56854952>>fic does the above but it's fan art>your fic has earned fan artIt's a warm and fuzzy feeling.
>>56854929I also had such a problem with Project moon games and such, because there is at least 3 games, one comic and a novel that was canceled and is about to be remade as a vn, if i remember correctly, but there is no merge tag at ALL.It just feels like a fuck you for you in particular.
>>56854748Sounds boring. Unless it's a crack fic of sorts.
I've never been sure how to tag my fics for stuff that hasn't happened yet. Eventually major characters WILL die, and there WILL be romance, but we're talking literal tens or hundreds of thousands of words off from where we're at now. It feels misleading or like spoilers to be forewarning that so far in advance.
Is there an archive with all the leaked lore and mythology shit? I have a mighty need to autistically worldbuild
>>56855117Tag things in ways that will help people to find your fics. That's their purpose, and their only purpose, no matter how other people may have abused them for other purposes.
>>56855117Don't tag things that aren't actually in the fic, that annoys me to no end. Tags are how I know to click, if you tag things that aren't there then it's just false advertising. When I get to the end of what's written, I won't think "I'd better follow this story because it said I thing I like might happen later", I'll think "well that's fucking lame, I feel cheated and will ignore this out of petty spite". Even if it's self-defeating, I don't care. Death doesn't need to be tagged at all, the age rating is enough. If you really feel you MUST tag the future romance, use "Eventual Romance" or "Slow-Burn Relationship" or whatever, or even "Additional Tags to be Added as Story Progresses" or however that tag goes.
>>56847356Instead of an OC, pick a canon character that has no real canon characterization. That way, you get to write an OC but can still insist she's not an OC to anyone who complains about it!
>>56855117At the hundreds of thousands of words point, you're probably better off figuring out good arc breakpoints to separate the 'fic for section-specific tags.
>>56852794>I wouldn’t compensate for the fact that I have access to the Pokémon game engine in any way Anon, I don’t know what to tell you, but if someone says he’s gonna make X using method B instead of method A, there’s probably a good fucking reason for that, no? Why the fuck would I make a normal ass dating sim in essentials and NOT incorporate elements from a more normal Pokémon game? You’re right in that canon characters would generate a bigger draw. Given the crowd that normally likes this sort of stuff making everyone bisluts would maximize popularity potential lol, idk if I’ll do it or not though. Having generic trainer classes as OCs might not be the worst idea though
In timeskip fics, when dealing with League stuff, do you tend to prefer seeing all-new characters, be they official or OC, occupying Gym Leader, E4, Champion etc. spots to see how they handle the role, or do you rather see older versions of the original to see how the passage of time has affected their life?
>>56856964Both is good
>>56856254Sauce?
So yeah, I don't think guns break the setting when you have stuff like Sabrina, Olympia and Avery who are said to be from ancient psychic families, or when there are weapons that can petrify
>>56857205>Team Plasma attacks the elite four headquarters in the climax of B/W>The gym leaders of the region show up to defend the pokemon league>Brycen sends out Vanilluxe>Skyla sends out Swanna>Clay sends out Krookodile>Team Plasma grunts use a flammenwerfer and some assault riflesThe problem is not that some people and/or pokemon are able to hard-counter most guns, it's that MOST pokemon can't, and guns are really good at killing shit when you don't have magic to defend against them.
>>56857539Infinity Energy hardens in response to physical trauma.
>>56857539>and guns are really good at killing shit when you don't have magic to defend against them.I mean, there are animals that can tank bullets thanks to their muscles and fat, some have scales or their organs tend to be in places hard to hit
>>56857628You're inventing additional mechanics for the world in order to stop guns from breaking the setting.>>56858042True! I'm not saying guns break the setting because Copperajah could be killed by an elephant gun. I'm saying guns break the setting because MOST trainers seem to have pokemon that should be handily dealt with by a relatively inexpensive man-portable rifle.
Trying to distract myself from election stuff by working on my Isekai slop draft. Got the "before world" word count down to 1500. Comfy Team Skull fic, I'm going to make you exist some day.
>>56858343The caveat of guns in Pokémon world is that you're either really stupid for using guns or really stupid for NOT using guns.
>>56857539It makes the most sense to consider Pokémon superhumanly tough and not comparable to animals, especially more experienced battlers, and to extend this to being able to tank some gunfire even if they lack armor or other damage mitigation. Sort of like a naked Space Marine.I'm not saying you have no point, it's just a bit muddier. And I think the question of gun usage needs to consider culture and logistics.Like, let's say these grunts aren't the complete shitter failed trainers we see in the games, because they wouldn't get anything done if they were the fodder they're depicted as. They have trained Pokémon who can at least put up a fight and defend their masters. A Pokémon is inherently more valuable than a gun because it can impede a charging Pokémon like a gun can't. Think of any reasonably grown/experienced Pokémon as a charging bear in terms of bullet resistance. You have a low chance of killing them outright at close range with a firearm before they're on you.>So why not a gun and Pokémon? The main argument I can think of are logistics. Since guns are most effective against other people and Pokémon are superior self-defense, it would make sense if guns were restricted. Grunts with just Pokémon could get around a lot more easily if they weren't toting guns, especially anything bigger than a pistol, which, while being easy to smuggle, are even less effective against actually threatening Pokémon, which are the Pokémon a grunt would worry about since he would assume his own Pokémon could handle anything lesser.1/2
2/2So you might consider the deployment of firearms something that only happens by organized, serious and elite criminals in major shock operations that call for overwhelming force and justify the hassle of smuggling firearms to the op, and likewise for elite law enforcement who exist to deal with them. Gym leaders may also be permitted to use them in emergencies, but you would expect a general rejection of the concept by those leaders ("What, my team isn't enough? Fuck off.").But even if a guns vs Pokémon situation is a rarity, this necessitates bulletproof Pokémon armor existing. Which isn't actually that crazy, since the Assault Vest is an existing item and is a literal not-kevlar vest. This sort of armor would also likely be restricted and only in the hands of elite law enforcement, gym leaders (in case of emergency) and those elite, very serious criminal orgs.
>>56858343>MOST trainers seem to have pokemon that should be handily dealt with by a relatively inexpensive man-portable rifle. Most trainers tend to stay at low levels tho, professional battlers tend to be like 20% of the population and only the 0.0001% can be called top tiers
>What if pokemons BUT WITH GUNS! Realism!!1Totally not overused grimderp slop idea, this idea won a day for me, relismxisters, now my toddler came out as a new 'mon Becker!
>>56851147Very *very* disappointed in all the content we lost, especially in Z and southern Kalos. The had plans for featuring the Team Flare/Zygarde stuff a lot more heavily + early on, but that was irrespective of the fact we got robbed. The real movement I'm going to be doing is in Southern Kalos. There's going to be an extended Post-League arc where Kalos will be recovering, and Serena and Ash will meet and interact with a lot of the poorer southern countryside as they help clean up and root out the remains of Team Flare and the roots.

>>56858561Strapping guns everywhere != realism, anon, honestly even worse than "just target trasiner" shit.
>>56858476>loicensesThe basic premise of the series is small children getting noteworthy capacity for violence by being friendly to the wild critters. It's made explicit with Team Plasma, random hermits coming out of the woods to slaughter permit-pushing bureaucrats is a rather sensible fit for an ACTUAL "more realistic" Pokemon world because NOBODY gets to have monopoly of force here, and access to it is spectacularly biased against the soulless bean-counters who ground towards this bullshit IRL because the woods themselves are liable to join the innawoods boog-preppers.
>>56858608Targeting commanders was a common practice even all the way back in napoleonic warfare. A large number of Ash harem stories, despite not being SI on paper, are basically SI's due to how wildly different Ash acts and how clearly those changes are made to pander to the author's wants and fetishes.
Are there any Unova journeyfics?Either following the campaign or being an original story.
>>56858532Put down the crack pike and type english like a regular person god damn it
>>56859447>A large number of Ash harem stories, despite not being SI on paper, are basically SI's due to how wildly different Ash acts and how clearly those changes are made to pander to the author's wants and fetishes. So every fanfic ever?Every shipping story?Look I get it but that word has been burned to the ground by people using it in stories they don't like, if things were exactly like in canon then it wouldn't be a fanfic, something created by fans.
>>56860097>So every fanfic ever? No. Just the ones where the author is very directly putting themselves into the story but wearing an established character's skin.I'm guessing you have a horse in this race and you don't like the idea that everyone can tell it's just you wearing a horse mask.
>>56860133Not really, I don't write shit but I've seen people use that as an insult in To Love Ru stories when not using fucking Rito
Realistically, Pokemon would BE the guns. If a Pokemon can stop a high-speed bullet with its hide, why not fire another Pokemon at it? Chop up claws and horns and make them into effective piercing rounds, carve internal organs and make batteries out of electric and fire innards, augment firing mechanisms as well as power with psychic bullshit. Pokemon are ultimately just another resource—coincidentally the perfect one for subduing other Pokemon.
>>56860176People seethe when this is said but, criminal won't play by the same rules as official or friendly matches since even in Generations I think(?) they showed Bryce punching people because they were aiming at the trainers or the police using weapons alongside their Pokémon when raiding Giovanni. And again, Poppy breaks the setting even more and yes I do have a problem with that and Paldea
>>56860247If you have a larger problem with Poppy than you do with guns in Pokemon, the problem here is that you're too much of an edgelord.
>>56860176I dont think grinding up living, sentient beings is very productive when those same beings are just as good if not better than whatever youre trying to make and a hell of lot less suspicious to carry aroundVerification not required.
Guns in Pokemon is ultimately just juvenile edgelord shit, there's no two ways about it. You could try and angle in some very specific niche uses for them if you REALLY wanted to, but at the end of the day guns are either entirely useless against Pokemon for a story to work, or they're so much better than Pokemon there's no reason not to use them instead. There's no real workable middle-ground, so you'll only see guns pop up when it's some middle schooler writing out his shooter fantasies about murdering Pikachu for being lame and for gays and then he'll shoot Jimmy from Chemistry class for talking to the girl he had a crush on.
>>56860305Now say that without crying, how come you fags get mad at everything when even the games mention weapons?
>>56860312How about you explain why anyone would use a firearm in a world populated by magical animals that can breathe fire, have legit psychic powers, causes earthquakes, summon storms, and other ridiculous shit, and yet will listen to humans? >>56860305 is right; guns make no sense, and you only ever see them brought up in fics that try too hard to be dark and "mature."
Poppy should have a gun
Wow shut up about guns and talk about something else. Whether or not guns break the setting, they sure do break the Fanfic Thread!

>>56860379>guns make no sense, and you only ever see them brought up in fics that try too hard to be dark and "mature."I guess that means I've tried too hard a few times.
If you could vacation anywhere in the Pokemon world for a month before returning to reality, where would you go? You get unlimited money and supernaturally good luck, but you can't bring back anything except memories.
>>56860590>unlimited money and supernaturally good luckTCG Island, of course. Time to become a Grandmaster with the power of pay-to-win and perfect coin flips. And then "make memories" with Mint.
For me, I think guns would be lost tech in the Pokémon world. Historically, guns came about in ancient China when, after the discovery of gunpowder, they would mount gunpowder projectiles on lances to fire fire lances. The whole objective was to injure from a distance to avoid needing to get close and risk getting hit by the enemy's melee weapons.Given this setting has fire-breathing lizards, energy shooting dragons and all that as natural replenishing resources, there's no need for gun development because, even if you were trying to develop man-made tech to combat these log range threats, nothing a human does with a tool will be as fast as a Pokémon's natural born capabilities. I think guns have been theorized and developed to some degree in the past, but the cost of development and production isn't viable when any chump can go into the wild and get a Ponyta or a Charmander that not only does what a gun would be used to, but it can also act independently from the trainer if needed. That seems realistic in the context of this fantasy world.
>>56859364I hate so many of the words you put into this abomination. Well done.
>>56858608I like the idea of villain teams developing cyborg Pokémon, sort of like genesect.
>>56859364>Zoroark Politician (Female) who uses her trainer, who is a gun, as a weapon to take revenge on those that betrayed them.My knees are bending on their own...
>>56860590I become a casino king, and go on a month-long bender of cocaine, hookers and gambling across every single region. They can never figure out how I'm cheating, and even when they try to put out hits on me I narrowly escape with my life because I'm so lucky. My nigga Grimsley tags along and we have some great times until he eventually sells me out to the mob, but I forgive him because it's in his nature, and I escape from them anyway. After I mysteriously dissappear a month later I'm forever immortalized as the great Gambling King. Countless youths and desperate addicts bankrupt themselves trying to match my streak. All over the world people mutter quick prayers under their breath to me when they need luck, and perhaps rub special little figurines made in my image.
Alright, since guns are a no no we have>Bows>Shurikens>Sticks >Swords>Whips>Lasers And they have all been used in the franchise, swords, stick, shurikens and bows in PokéSpe for those that don't know or think only the and me does stupid things
It's a good thing I'm basing my protagonists and supporting cast on school archetypes and Final Fantasy classes. Never would've thought "guns in Pokémon" would heat this place up, especially when cops exist there.

>>56862725I start reading the blurb...This sounds like it might be an interesting premise.>global conflictNever mind.
>>56862741It's an acquired taste type fic. Lots of allusions to modern day politics, and the author tends to go deep into gritty shit... but there's also a chapter on a very cute Latias x Human romance so whatever.
>>56862756By modern day politics do you mean international incidents or stuff like gender and american elections
>>56862756I voraciously consume fiction to escape having to think about politics.
>>56862717What's the best version of V, the GBA? For VI is SNES.Anyways, I've been thinking of doing something similar too
>>56862717It's all fun and games until you have to create the machinery class.

>>56863141>you don't need powersYou're right. I don't.
>Want to make a Kalos-only team>Get completely stuck because of how few options there are and I cannot ever make something that satisfies meThis sucks.

Is the Pokémon world a democracy? How might Pokémon be leveraged to commit election fraud?
>>56863815I think its a monarchy but there's no heirs, it's exclusively overthrowing the current champion
>>56863815Since we know being champion means nothing, most likely
>>56863831>exclusively overthrowing the current championDon't fucking start, don't you fucking do that.
>>56863836Why didn't Ghetsis run for president instead of letting N collect all 8 badges and challenge the Elite 4?
>>56863815>How might Pokémon be leveraged to commit election fraud?I imagine certain regions use "district-based" votes that are ultimately decided by the reigning gym leader. These regions probably also severely limit who can and cannot become a professional trainer, and then further limit who can even participate in the gym challenges to begin with. This way the reigning individual, who we may refer to as a "chairman", can ensure complete and total control over the "democratic" government. All the gym leaders are in the chairman's pocket, and the champion is practically hand-picked by him as well. It's for the greater good.
>>56863846The newly minted Champion immediately demanding everyone turn in their guns, sorry their Pokémon, in Pokeamerica would immediately lead to a violent revolt. Instead he becomes the head of this cult and makes it about love and doing what’s best for your Pokémon or whatever, and plants a Champion loyal to the cause to amplify the message.
>>56863859quoted the wrong line but whatever
What is her gun policy?
>>56863878>violent revoltThe unwashed masses will be flattened by a single pulse of a champion's aura.
>>56863904One free Glock for every 10 bags of fent purchased
>>56863846Because only a cuck would do nothing while someone demands to give up your means of defense, the whole point was to make N a figure head where people would think that his team was happier and stronger since there wasn't a Pokéball or a proof of ownership so getting people to follow that example.Of course it would have caused a bigger mess because not everyone would agree so under any other setting a civil war was the only outcome
>>56863815>>56863859Actually, it's a mix between a suzerainy and a parliamentary democracy. The International Pokémon League Federation is the governing body for all the regional leagues, and appoints the Elite Four members at it's discretion. Each town appoints the Gym Leaders, which are in essence the government, in each region. Those regions are subordinate to the World Pokémon Conservation Organization, or WPCO. As far as we know there is no central government in any of them, just the collection of government officials and - one can extrapolate - the bureaucratic and administrative representatives for each local government. Maybe each city does have a mayor but whose authority can be superseded by the local Gym Leader if needed. The WPCO defers to the IPLF when it comes to official dealings in the regional league, but there's no subordination of the WPCO otherwise. Hell, given that different regions recognize league certifications from other places (like Kanto accepting Johto badges), the WPCO is probably the highest authority there is.
>>56863910Pro Tip: Big scary Champion can’t find you if you’re constantly teleporting, using shadow travel, casting illusions on yourself, flying, diving, etc. Go from city to city breaking shit, important government infrastructure, target bureaucrats and their families, display their bodies where others will see them, write manifestos in blood, teleport swarms of wild Pokémon into gated communities, kidnap diplomats and mind rape them for their secrets, destroy power plants and put a stop to food distribution. Round up babies and NFE Pokémon from their ace’s line, scatter their corpses where they’re likely to visit. Target the big corporations, hurt their bottom line and harass their employees, start inter-regional conflicts by killing league-workers of neighbouring countries…Then maybe the Champion’s generals, the people they can’t just ‘flatten with a pulse of their aura’, will decide to enact the people’s will. Or neighbouring leagues will ‘liberate’ large swathes of territory from the clearly incompetent/tyrannical despot burning their own region to the ground…with an open ear for concessions to the brave freedom fighters that made it all possible.
>>56863953Is this shit from the leaks? Holy incomprehensible word salad—tl;dr?
>>56863953Wait what? So they're basically the UN but with real power?
>>56864014Basically it's where we found out Gym Leaders are not subordinate to the E4/Champ and, since they get a city to lord over (kind of), and because E4 are appointed by higher governing body, E4 and even Champ are less prestigious positions than Gym Leader. Basically the E4 and Champ are chumps who just happen to be strong, but they wield very little actual authority.>>56864028The WPCO is basically the World Government from One Piece, the IPLF is the Marines and each region has it's Governors in the Gym Leaders. The only thing that fails in this comparison is that the Admirals - the E4 - ain't shit in terms of local governing.
>>56864014It's google-translated. That's why some of the text is so small. For some reason Google image translation likes to spit out impossible tiny text.If you have the original image you can put it into google's translate and download the text to a file, then try to match what's in the txt file to what's on the image.
>>56864058Here's the original if anyone wants to take a stab at it.
>>56864042There must be something for the E4/Champions tho, in a world where might make right there's nothing more scary than a strong individual bored out of his mind since a high level team can take over a region.
>>56864088Everyone recognizes the strength of the Champion and he's the last line of defense against a crisis. It's not a coincidence that you need an official authorization from all the major government reps around (the badges) to challenge them. They are free to come and go as they please and no one really fucks with them, but they gotta be ready to help when needed and they don't get much say in how things are run in return for that recognition and freedom. Think voluntary firefighters, except I'm sure they are monetarily compensated for their service and availability.
In a world with every kind of magic bullshit, wouldn't normal bullets the most waste of resources ever? What would they do to rock types or ghosts?
>>56863953I don't remember, is Larry specifically mentioned as being appointed to the E4 by Geeta, or does he just mention she told him to use different teams at each job? I wasn't sure if that still lines up with that old worldbuilding.
>>56864186I didn't play SV, so I'm the wrong person to ask, but if memory serves he says his boss made him pick up another position, probably to avoid having to hire someone else. So it'd make sense that Geeta, as the head of the regional League, made a personnel assignment decision of "fuck Larry's personal life, I'm going to have him occupy two different positions in this company".
>MCs have Galarian and Paldean first partners, respectively>Meeting Professor Sycamore and getting their second Pokemon>One's getting Squirtle for sure because it fits them>The other would REALLY mesh perfectly with Bulbasaur>But fear being accused of KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if I give them both KantomonsWhato should I do?
>>56864432Doubledown and give a third character Charmander
>>56864447Another major character who comes in much later does have a Charmeleon, which is part of what I'm anxious about.
>>56863910>>56863998>"Hellooo?? Wake up, sleepyhead!">A sharp pain assaults you, like the jaws of a terrible beast have closed themselves around your torso. Teeth snip apart tendons and pick cracks into bone, hot breath condenses on your naked skin—and you open your eyes to see Champion Iris gently patting your cheek, smiling placidly. Her Aura is in everything, permeating the air itself—and you can feel how badly it hungers.>"You silly goose! Did you really think I wouldn't sniff you out? Why would another region help you out in the first place? Everyone wants to discourage insurrection, duh! You're such a little kid, honestly...">Primordial terror washes over you as you catch her gleeful gaze. In this proverbial belly of the beast, your every instinct screams to run away NOW, but you are unable to. Her will simply overwrites yours, keeping you pinned in place, like some insignificant toy. She leans into your ear to whisper something intimate.>"You have no idea how badly I'm going to hurt you. I will make you writhe like a worm on the ground, until you beg me for death, and I will not grant it. Your family of seven generations will be purged, and your name will become synonymous with shit. Do you understand? I have Psychic specialists that will scramble your mind—strip you of any memories but pain. You will become nothing but pain, know nothing but pain—because suffering is all that fits you, insolent garbage. You will learn to respect your Champion's authority, and you will study this lesson for the rest of your miserable, pathetic days." >She pulls away and giggles sweetly.
>>56864432What you should do is what's best for your story's integrity and development and screw what the peanut gallery's shouting.
>>56864846And then the POV character pops a boner.
>>56864450>>56864432>he fell for the KANTO memeDo as you will.
>>56864846All this amounts to is PR-obliterating petty vengeance because the damage remains done, showing vulnerabilities of the system. There's only one Iris, and if it seriously took an inter-Regional manhunt then you're looking at her not being there to do anything about anyone joining in on the mess while she's away. Even if she cracked down like this at home first creating the delay, that crackdown in itself is less a functional warning and more an advertisement that the wider government is incapable of addressing the grievances itself without Freaks Of Nature lending the big stick, making it MORE likely that things go to shit the moment the lender of force is unavailable. That doesn't work for the kind of society that builds the kind of urban environment Unova has. That doesn't work for the kind of society that has the Team Plasma protests end in a split of the movement. That most especially doesn't work when the lender of the big stick is well known for going out of contact like Alder did.
>>56864952YOU want to tell the uber-powerful war demigod that they can't torture people for funsies anymore?
>>56864846>"Be quiet, girl," you reply, dropping the feigned helplessness. You rise to your feet as she stares at you, slack-jawed and indignant, not comprehending how she could have lost control of the situation so abruptly. "As we speak, my forces are marching on the parliament building, seizing your ministers, and executing any of the ones stupid enough to fight back. Your gym leaders have either fled the region or willingly joined my cause. Your elite four are busy fighting in the capital, wasting time on a diversion. I allowed myself to be captured solely so I could get you alone in a room with me.">"Be silent!" she glares at you, her face flushed red and her eyes wide and glaring. She bares her little teeth like a dog showing its fangs, expecting you to cower before the dragon trainer. You are nonplussed.>"Tell me. Did you bring your pokemon in her with you? Or did you think it better to try and intimidate me alone?">For half an instant, a shadow of fear washes over her face. She doesn't answer the question, but she doesn't have to. She's realized she's allowed herself to be cornered.>"You will make a fine concubine... 'Champion.' Don't think I'll be wasteful enough to simply have you killed. I will see to it that you bare me at heir, first."
>>56864952See? That's why guns should be a thing at least as a last move because you need a way to control powerful trainers without bullshit powers
>>56864432Why not give them a non-starter?>>56864110Doesn't it contradict how BW played out? Over there it seems like the champion is directly in a position of authority.
>>56865385The way I see it, Pokemon is based heavily on a "good faith" system Japan uses. As an example, Japanese business deals rarely have actual contracts involved, both parties just trust the other's not going to try to screw them over. This doesn't really work anywhere else, though.
>>56865527Fittingly, this is also how children operate in playgroups. No one is codifying rules for the shit you're doing on the playground, nor does someone get formally punished for breaking an unwritten social rule. But there are totally a bunch of social rules that everyone instinctively knows and largely adheres to, and they expect everyone else to largely adhere to them as well. Those who step out of line become ostracized pariahs, seen as "villains" even for doing something fairly minor. This is why Pokemon is such a great setting for the 10-year-old demographic. The fictional world of pokemon basically follows the function of the little world they live in IRL.
Even if we take the retarded fucks trying to end the world, the fact that there's a police forcé means the world isn't an utopia
>>56865629All the police do is check licenses and help deal with 10 year olds throwing a tantrum after Ace Trainer Chad fleeced them for lunch money after a fair and agreed upon battle. If the police were an actual police force they'd actually be doing something against the criminals running around like in some of the special episodes.
>>56865520>Why not give them a non-starter?I was debating between a Bulbasaur and Oddish, but the more I thought about it I just kind of despaired thinking>Oh no, a Bulbasaur is perfect for him
>>56865638>Nanu is a police officer who first shows up to aid the player in getting into Po Town. After Team Skull is defeated by the player, he reveals that he is the kahuna of Ula'ula Island and challenges the player in Malie City for their island challenge grand trial. Upon defeat, he grants the player the Darkinium Z and wishes them well as they, along with Gladion and Hau, head to Aether Paradise to rescue Lillie.>When Professor Kukui forms the Alola Pokémon League, he offers Nanu a position in the Alola Elite Four. He turns down the offer, however, stating that he has no obligation to join, unlike when the guardian deity chose him to become the kahuna. As such, Acerola joins the Elite Four in his place.>In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Nanu later provides information on sightings of the Ultra Beasts around Ula'ula. He is also revealed to be a former member of the International Police and Looker's former superior. His codename was 000 (Japanese: 〇〇〇) . During his time with them, he is described as having been an elite officer, on par with Looker. Ten years prior to the events of Pokémon Sun and Moon, he participated in a three-person mission with Looker and an unnamed Faller to track down a Guzzlord, which ultimately cost the Faller her life. After this mission, he and Looker discovered Anabel on the shores of Poni Island.I don't know bro, seems that they do shady shit to keep the world peace
>>56865669Sounds like an Alola problem. This is why we didn't invite them to the League.
>>56865639Well, does it have to be a Kanto starter?
Do you give your trainers fishmon? How do you make fishmon work when there's no water source?
>>56865995>Do you give your trainers fishmon? No because I hate fish.>How do you make fishmon work when there's no water source? If Carbink, Darkrai, Vanilluxe, Porygon, and Castform can float then so can fish to a lesser extent. Water in the atmosphere or some shit. Still slower than being in water, so they'll need to have mastered the Swift Swim ability to compensate it enough to be combat viable. Primal Kyogre can fly at almost his swim speed and is even half flying type. Murderous sky whale
>>56865995>>56866076I remember years ago Misty using a Goldeen I think to fight Jessie and James but her fish almost dies because it was just squirming on the ground but other than that I too used to believe they floated
>>56866101>used toDid you change your mind because of the anime? It would also have you believe that aiming for the horn bypasses resistance and immunity checks.
>>56866076>>56866101I was mulling a story in my head that's set in Hoenn and I realized so many of its Water-types are fish or have issues with overlapping types that I don't want to deal with since I also wanted Cacturne to be in a hypothetical team.
>>56866107>It would also have you believe that aiming for the horn bypasses resistance and immunity checks.Eh, I always thought that was mostly a raw power thing since Red did basically the same in Adventures and he didn't have the sprinkles
>>56866140Hoenn also has a lot of water areas for them to be fair
>>56866160Yeah but Red's a dexholder.
>>56865520I mean, it's not like a Champion *can't* have authority. Being the strongest trainer in the region is bound to open a few possibilities for you. I just meant they don't have authority in an official governmental capacity; if people decide to listen to the Champ anyway and it's not against any laws/administrative norms, I don't see why it couldn't happen.Plus, those documents in the leaks have a big chance of being old, prior to Gen 5. In it says, for example, that Pokémon battling (I'm assuming as an officially recognized sport/career) was pioneered in Kanto, so definitely take it with a grain of salt. I personally like the behind-the-scenes view, but you can ignore it at your leisure.
>>56865954NTA but, it IS Sycamore with his weeaboo KANTOOOO love and one of the only 2 sets of starters with megas. Plus, the other MC alreafy guaranteed a Squirtle and some else later on has a Charmeleon. It only makes too much sense to tie the three together by using the same set of starters with the same power-up capabilities (mega, G-Max, Tera). Never mind that they're all special, but one is more specialer.
>>56865995Make a water source. Either use a previous mon to create a small crater on the ground and then have them fill it up or just toss them high in the air and have them use high pressure water jets to make it themselves. Of course, the exception is Gyarados, because he literally flies. Maybe Finneon/Lumineon could also sort-of float given its butterfly wing-esque fins, but that'd come at a heavy stamina and maneuverability penalty.
How do you gender these three? Asking for a friend.>but they're legendaries, they don't have a genderShut up. It's for lewd reasons.
>>56866959I interpret Azelf as male, and Uxie and Mesprit as female.
>>56866959None of them looks masculine to me, they are flying gremlins like Mew.
>>56866959Does it honestly matter as long as they've got a mouth and tongue, and some sort of asshole? Pokemon are sex sleeves, it's useless to ponder about details like gender, or maturity, or whatever. Just fuck it, and maybe spray some Super Potion on it afterwards if it doesn't stop crying.
>>56867351Don't those three curse you and shit?
>>56866593Reminder that without one you're an NPC

>>56864952Yeah bro I'm sure people will believe you terrorist-kun over the Champion. And even if they'd believe you they would just say you deserve it and the Champion was right.WORLD OF STR, faggot.
>>56868014Sounds like a chad.Sorry you're a weak-willed pussy with no guts who remains satisfied with a Rattata as an started but deep inside you hate it and wish you could have had a Charmanderino as your starter instead.
>>56868601Didn't know we were in the murim
>>56868614>Mary SuemanderAbsolute NPC behavior.
>>56868601It's not so much "the one specific asshole is right" as it is "the churning mass of fuckwads all see they have a chance to make something stick". Again, the way things are shown in Unova in every single medium do not function with such an enforcement standard, because it doesn't WORK for interdependent modern systems, because publicly torturing the perpetrator to death doesn't undo the stock market crash caused by downing the power grid for a day.The material in the franchise only functions under the logic of "an armed society is a polite society", relying on the general public to defend itself and the infrastructure they rely on. This requires individuals actually LIKE the wider public and feel safe taking its defense into their own hands, which is thoroughly incompatible with any historic form of rule by fear and spectacular tortures as punishment.
I don't know about you guys but if my team wasn't strong enough to defend me in a situation where the E4 went around destroying everything I would try to get a gun to at least kill the fucker>B-but they team would go berserkerDon't give a shit, I would die anyways so at least they would go down with me
>>56869154Using Edgeventures as the basis for your argument is silly, considering even the humans had completely out of place superpowers.

>>56851313Fanfic autism is super powerful man.People talk about that Loud House fanfic, but that's cheap shit, it's just episode scripts half the time.In relation to Pokemon though, I knew a guy about 15 years back now who was writing TWO Dragon Ball fanfics I really enjoyed, both altogether reached about 500K words. He took a hiatus on both though to focused on a Pokemon fic, and I went "Okay, cool", and it ran for 300K words. And then he moved onto another Pokemon fic, and then another, and another, today this would be called "gaining a new hyperfixation", and now it's been roughly 11 years since his hiatus on the DB ones and he has written like 2 million words worth of Pokemon shit.
How does he do it? WHY does he do it?
>>56868014I was recommended this story and TTS, and the MC here felt a lot more relatable and the story more coherent than the latter despite being a gender neutral self-insert. Steven and the MC's friendship felt a lot more genuine than literally everything in TTS as well.

All his Pokemon stuff together though hits like 2.5 million and despite how varied his output seems, he's still dropping shit a few chapters in to write more absurdly long Pokemon fics. His longest one, at over a million words (and shockingly, completed), is this:>Crusaders of Dusk>Cut off from the life he knew, an Absol now must work his way and earn his right to return to the place he called home. Joining him is a timid Goomy who desires to become stronger and more respected. The two will face many challenges, learning to trust one another.https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13452011/1/Crusaders-of-DuskKeep in mind, a lot of this is very clearly from a more power fantasy centric error of fanfic as well, and the guy writing this stuff is the type to write serious fanfiction about Mario. >>56869525*in one of the versions in the leakIn most versions the First Male doesn't exist; the Lake Guardians are made from the union of Ia and Ea and in a single other version Aus makes Ia and Ea and then later it also makes the Lake Guardians.

Bros, remember to take your glassess off when doing a high risk match or a villain plot because shards do get in your eyes.
Am I the only one in this thread who writes smut?
>>56874205I do too, but not Pokémon. I haven't actually written anything Pokémon so far.
>>56874205I write smut, just not Pokémon smut.
>>56874205I've written from wholesome to bumpin'.
>>56874205I have written smut before, but I have yet to write Pokemon smut, or really anything Pokemon.
>>56874205I'm so corrupted by NTR that if I were to write smut it would end up as one too
>>56874205Does role-playing count as writing shut?
>>56874205No, fellow SmutChad. Trying to do non-smut for once tho.
>>56874205I once wrote a short story for my own extremely niche fetish, and never posted it anywhere. Does that count?
>>56874205Does writing smut with only the human characters in the franchise count?
>>56874666Well Satan, I guess that question is the same as asking if, at that point, there is anything actually "Pokemon" about the story, or if it's just generic people with oddly familiar names.
>>56873862The one just above my post. The Volkner one wasn't really a gym leader one iirc. He retired pretty quick.
>>56874687Well, pokemon still have a role to play, but I'm just not into pokephilia.
>>56854044>You don't see [Ash, Misty] on every fucking Kanto fic involving Ash, the only stories that do that are obviously shipping ones and generally had Romance as a secondary tag if it was a main focus. It was worse back in the day because there was no bracket to indicate pairing on ff.net. All we had was Ash, Misty. But people respected the romance tag and if the story wasn't tagged romance then 9 times out of 10 Ash and Misty are not being shipped.
>>56874205Exclusively.
>>56857539Baseline humans in the games and especially the anime are already superhuman Pokemon much more so.Anything below 50cal being an instant kill threat doesn't make much sense to me and I don't understand why some pistol can 1shot a Marowak in Gen 1. Well if the bullet entered her eye and scrambled her brain then sure I could accept that.
Which two regions are the most racist to each other?
>>56875629Kalos and Galar of course.
>>56875629Unova and Isshu.
>>56875629Kalos and Paldea
Read thishttps://www.fanfiction.net/s/13311666/1/The-Dark-Typeand quiet enjoyed it. Somewhere in the second third become quite annoyed by endless interludes about fucking "do-not-care-abouts", one of whom later even turned into entiresubfic, lol, but otherwise was pretty enjoyable, especially since despite main conflict of fic it doesn't drown in fights against antagonists. Sadly it seems fic is forgotten.
>>56875994Please leave the ESL at the door.I have no fucking idea what you tried to say.
>>56871099>Not strong enough to move a boulderExplain this freak
>>56876129I will never see him in the same after that story where he's buttfucking Bruno (iirc)
>>56875629>kanto fic>"the war" that Lt Surge was in was a civil war between Kanto and Johto and tensions are still highI... kinda hate this trope.
>>56876145Same, everyone knows Johto is a shitter region barely above Paldea but full of retards. gotta love how they made Johto a backwater place in Generations
>>56876145But it's based as hell. Especially with the implication that Kanto LOST.What's cringe is making Surge a Kantonian. There is NOTHING asian about Surge. Surge is a foreign occupational force, he aint kanto.
>>56876266>Kanto LOST.Why? Because Lance? He's a fucking puppet to prove Johtonians aren't that bad
>>56876096Making a guess, but they're saying they enjoyed the fic. Somewhere two-thirds of the way through, they were annoyed by constant interludes about characters and concepts they didn't care about, and one of these turned into its own entire substory. Despite the main conflict of the story, the narrative isn't eclipsed by fights against the antagonists.
>>56876321>but they're sayingI'd rather read English Second Language than Troon First Language.
>>56876297Lance might have played a part but ultimately Kanto is a backwater cultureless den of savages so it could have been any number of things. Since Surge is there they probably did something to piss off Unova and wound up on the receiving end of sweet liberty's righteous explosions.
>>56876145>It's another Kanto/Johto fic that is 90% politics between Kanto/Johto and Kanto/Johto oppressing the other RegionBonus: Kanto is the oppressed one and Giovanni founded TR because he's the most patriotic man and wants to save Kanto from the evil Johtonians.Double Bonus: MUH DRAGON CLAN were the bestest and greatest people during the war won Johto the war basically single-handedly or Kanto won against them only thanks to Oak.
>>56876368>T. JohtonianYour women fucking suck and nobody gives a shit about you
>>56876357Oh, so you're just an illiterate stooge. Fuck off, then.
>>56876382Jasmine? Pure. Claire? Pure.Cerulean sisters? Sluts. Erika? Yuri degenerate.Kanto is only known for two things. One is CHARIZARD, except oh wait the charciffic valley is in JOHTO. Literally stolen valor. The other? Team Rocket. Remind us all again which is the only region in that world that didn't birth a megalomaniac criminal empire?Johtonian supremacy is unquestionable.
I think kanto and johto gym leaders should be friends with eachother and be constantly visiting eachother via the magnet train :(((
>>56876395Imagine not having your own retard trying to end the world, pathetic. And Clair? Nobody wants that bitch even if she went to the streets.Karen is a slutWhitney a retard but she's probably legal there because the population would go down if they banned banging retards, also>JasmineKekLolLmao even Reminder that she went to Sinnoh because Johto didn't have even a single good male
>>56876395>Kanto is only known for two thingsThree. Don't forget Sabrina.
>antihero MC makes the wrong choices to deal with real problems, his trainer journey becomes the rise of a new Team leader and he eventually faces off against a game MC and a regional ChampionHow many times has this been done?
>>56876764Oh, wasn't that supposed to be the plot of the second Orre game?
Ok anons, big question. What previous pokemon villain team would be interested in the time traveling phenomena going on in Paldea?
>>56876782No idea, I just thought of the concept and figured someone had to have done it already. I didn't know there was anything like it in the official media. Was this a cancelled game?
>>56876832Plasma and maybe Flare but time travel isn't really that exotic in their world so I doubt they would care about that region
>>56874205I write smut but I'm too ashamed to share it.
>>56875666In the real world, Britain and France largely stopped squabbling due to their mutual dislike and distrust of Prussia, and then Germany, and then the eastern bloc. Now, we haven't seen the whole map of poke-europe, but if Kalos and Galar don't have a mutual enemy then they have no reason to get along. On the other hand, the major thing that started their squabbling in the first place was fighting over claims to one another's throne, going back generations. So if that never happened, then they probably would've never started fighting in the first place. Galar/Britain being an island means that fighting over territory or borders ends up not really being a thing, and that doesn't leave much else to fight over.
>>56876129He lifts a boulder in Gen II, but of course the writers/devs realized that was inconsistent with canon and revised it for the remakes, which are now canon. In Gen IV he just stands under a waterfall.
>>56876395>Jasmine? Pure. She may be cute but she reeks of Ampharos cum>Claire? Pure.Pure bitchiness technically counts I guess?
>>56877254They're fighting over who has the best Fairy Types probably.>>56876395What about Janine?
>>56877326Who? Exactly, nobody knows or care about her
>>56877351Of course nobody remembers her, she's a ninja.
>>56877357 Ninjas are lame compared to all the other bullshit their world has
>>56877326>What about JanineUtterly toxic. Also, she's not even Johtonian.
>>56876764Evil Evil or "misunderstood" "revolt against the man" self justifying type of Evil? The latter is gay and overdone but a Villain that knows they are Evil and has fun with it is increasingly rare and way more enjoyable imo.
>>56877861What about a Falling Down situation?>protagonist starts off well-meaning or lashing out and indignities>they progressively do more and more evil things>end up surrounded by yesmen who just go along with what they say>genuinely has no idea they're the villain until the end, when the real protagonist points it out to themFrom there, they realize they've gone too far, and either>decide they need their comeuppanceor>decide, fuck it, might as well embrace it
>>56877981I mean, from hero to villain is the most kino thing ever.Like being stuck on a timeloop saving the world over and over and over just to have everything be in vain
>find a pokefic>reincarnated female SI>angsty lesbian SI gets reincarnated as a child >cusses out parents, airs out thinly veiled personal trauma, glamorizes panic attacks, and hits on every adult woman >drop>find another pokefic>reincarnated "female" SI>first thing they do is break down and revel in how they're "finally a real girl" >drop>find another pokefic >female MC sent to PMD>"do you prefer she/her pronouns?" >everyone is gay and this is never mentioned in the tags>trigger warnings before every chapter Why does this always happen?
What was that one PLA fic that had Ingo and Akari return to Nimbasa and he immediately pops into a shop for a smoke, a bagel, and a fuckin slice of pizza? That one was good.
>>56878295I bet you cannot link the fics you're whining about and prove they're real and not just your fanfic.
>>56878376I recognized one of those fics, I think. It was a Y'know Nothing Jon Snow ripoff
Have you guys seen Reeds of Gabber on FanFic?
>>56877861>Villain that knows they are Evil and has fun with it is increasingly rare and way more enjoyable imo.Enjoyable only if they aren't another "jester", who's basically main gimmick is that he trolls heroes. Btw now that I think usual gang leader also isn't that intresting either, he is just basically default gamer, trying to collect more shinies and acquire more power. Honestly only ones I enjoyed were sociopaths, it was intresting to see writers interpretation of their psyche.
>>56878295Wow I can't believe fanfic authors would write wish fulfillment, what is the world coming to
>>56877861>Villain that knows they are Evil and has fun with itWish there was more. If I was making such a character, I'd make them act like Broly. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ijSryky2rtY&pp=ygUTZHJhZ29uIGJhbGwgeiBicm9seQ%3D%3D
>>56878295Who has the free time to write fanfic after they leave highschool? Non-weirdo loser fanfic authors are rare as hens teeth and seldom last unless they can monetize it and give up working because writing fanfic, working, having any other commitments, and sleep are a pick 3 of 4 situation at best.
>>56878817>Non-weirdo loser fanfic authors are rare as hensMost of the times I find authors are passionate about the franchise/work they write about it but have few fics under their belt.
>>56878817I didn't have time to write during school because education had me writing.
>>56878805Fucking Toriyama, he has to ruin one of the best things in the franchise
>>56879247Eh, Super Broly ain't bad. He's nothing compared to Z Broly, though.
Good thread.
>>56877861What about a villain that is just so petty and hung up on his own hype that he's just a massive asshole. I've been replaying the batman arkham games and the riddler in those games carries such a pathetic energy that I think would shine as an ex-competitive pokemon trainer
>>56879445I never finished that, even in Knight because having to search for every trophy after doing all the batmobile shit? Fuck that
