AO3 has actual good tag searching and sorting, and therefore discoverability. Definitely install userscripts like ao3 savior, tag savior, etc. that allow you to filter out bullshit tags, hide works with specific tags or too many tags, and so on, but once you do it's an infinitely better user experience than any other fanfiction site.
As a writer I'd still post to both, but as a reader looking for new stories, AO3 is unmatched.

It's important to give your character flaws. These flaws need to actually matter, and challenge them. It's not a problem for Pokemon but for other fandoms, you also have to exclude all the reader/male character tags and writers don't bother to add "reader" as a character so you have to manually go in and exclude each individual ship.
Also crossovers are impossible to find for a lot of series, I have no fucking idea what their criteria is for separating or merging series for having both an anime and manga. But in the case of the latter, if someone has tagged a series like "Fire Force (manga)" and "Fire Force (anime)" and nothing else, ao3 would consider it a crossover.

Like, let's say these grunts aren't the complete shitter failed trainers we see in the games, because they wouldn't get anything done if they were the fodder they're depicted as. They have trained Pokémon who can at least put up a fight and defend their masters. A Pokémon is inherently more valuable than a gun because it can impede a charging Pokémon like a gun can't. Think of any reasonably grown/experienced Pokémon as a charging bear in terms of bullet resistance. You have a low chance of killing them outright at close range with a firearm before they're on you.

The main argument I can think of are logistics. Since guns are most effective against other people and Pokémon are superior self-defense, it would make sense if guns were restricted. So you might consider the deployment of firearms something that only happens by organized, serious and elite criminals in major shock operations that call for overwhelming force and justify the hassle of smuggling firearms to the op, and likewise for elite law enforcement who exist to deal with them. But even if a guns vs Pokémon situation is a rarity, this necessitates bulletproof Pokémon armor existing. Realistically, Pokemon would BE the guns.

If a Pokemon can stop a high-speed bullet with its hide, why not fire another Pokemon at it? Chop up claws and horns and make them into effective piercing rounds, carve internal organs and make batteries out of electric and fire innards, augment firing mechanisms as well as power with psychic bullshit. Pokemon are ultimately just another resource—coincidentally the perfect one for subduing other Pokemon.

For me, I think guns would be lost tech in the Pokémon world. Historically, guns came about in ancient China when, after the discovery of gunpowder, they would mount gunpowder projectiles on lances to fire fire lances. The whole objective was to injure from a distance to avoid needing to get close and risk getting hit by the enemy's melee weapons.
Given this setting has fire-breathing lizards, energy shooting dragons and all that as natural replenishing resources, there's no need for gun development because, even if you were trying to develop man-made tech to combat these log range threats, nothing a human does with a tool will be as fast as a Pokémon's natural born capabilities. I think guns have been theorized and developed to some degree in the past, but the cost of development and production isn't viable when any chump can go into the wild and get a Ponyta or a Charmander that not only does what a gun would be used to, but it can also act independently from the trainer if needed.

That seems realistic in the context of this fantasy world.

I imagine certain regions use "district-based" votes that are ultimately decided by the reigning gym leader. These regions probably also severely limit who can and cannot become a professional trainer, and then further limit who can even participate in the gym challenges to begin with. Actually, it's a mix between a suzerainy and a parliamentary democracy.
The International Pokémon League Federation is the governing body for all the regional leagues, and appoints the Elite Four members at it's discretion. Each town appoints the Gym Leaders, which are in essence the government, in each region. Those regions are subordinate to the World Pokémon Conservation Organization, or WPCO. As far as we know there is no central government in any of them, just the collection of government officials and - one can extrapolate - the bureaucratic and administrative representatives for each local government. Maybe each city does have a mayor but whose authority can be superseded by the local Gym Leader if needed.
The WPCO defers to the IPLF when it comes to official dealings in the regional league, but there's no subordination of the WPCO otherwise. Hell, given that different regions recognize league certifications from other places (like Kanto accepting Johto badges), the WPCO is probably the highest authority there is.

In relation to Pokemon though, I knew a guy about 15 years back now who was writing TWO Dragon Ball fanfics I really enjoyed, both altogether reached about 500K words.
He took a hiatus on both though to focused on a Pokemon fic, and I went "Okay, cool", and it ran for 300K words. And then he moved onto another Pokemon fic, and then another, and another, today this would be called "gaining a new hyperfixation", and now it's been roughly 11 years since his hiatus on the DB ones and he has written like 2 million words worth of Pokemon shit.

Now, we haven't seen the whole map of poke-europe, but if Kalos and Galar don't have a mutual enemy then they have no reason to get along. On the other hand, the major thing that started their squabbling in the first place was fighting over claims to one another's throne, going back generations. So if that never happened, then they probably would've never started fighting in the first place. Galar/Britain being an island means that fighting over territory or borders ends up not really being a thing, and that doesn't leave much else to fight over.
