>>56856307>Out of curiosity, what would happen if he apologized again? No material on this plane of existence would contain my rage. Cities will burn, the oceans and lakes will boil, the very atmosphere of the Earth will be snuffed out in an instant. What few survivors remain will emerge blackened from their holes to shamble through an endless desert of molten glass before their lidless eyes are reduced to charcoal and their lungs are choked with ash. My burning screams of rage will echo across the solar system and beyond long after my atoms have been thoroughly obliterated. What God has spent innumerable eons orchestrating, I destroy in seconds. One by one, the stars will implode, their death throes mere fractions of the intensity of my unknowable fury. The universe will be expunged in its entirety, only the burning cosmic force of anger will remain to sweep across the void forevermore. My soul will be flensed across ten thousand layers of hellfire. I will awaken in the deepest pits of Tartarus and breathe a sigh of relief. "Almost lost my cool there." *laugh track*

>>56851795>Side note, I'm starting to wonder if coming up with a completely new region is too big a project for it to be my first writing exercise in here, but I figure at this stage I might as well commit to it Well, you're in luck. You don't have to have everything plotted out ahead of time because we the audience will only know what you tell us. You can fill in bits and pieces of the lore based solely on whatever's relevant for the scene or chapter you're writing. You don't even need to give the full lore either, you can fill that in with supplemental material later if that's what you want to do. If you want to decide "here's a town that idolizes Seaking because of the way it crests the nearby waterfall; it's currently in upheaval because the fins/horn debate has gotten out of hand and locals are looking to passing trainers to break the stalemate," do we really need to know more?
Whipping up a poison specialistHis theme is contrarian hipster that collects the "unpopular" type but I'm blanking on what Pokemon to pick. I'm not sure if I want to chose rare Poison types like regional formes or underappreciated Poison types like Dustox and Skuntank. I think having both Nidos is cute and Lowkey Toxtricity is made for him.
>>56860026Skuntank and Garbodor are shoe-ins for sure. Who would want to hang out with those guys besides a man of culture? Dustox over the more conventional Beautifly is a good choice, but the weakest link in the team by far. Crobat would also fit in place of Dustox if you're worried about muh stats. Yeah, it's popular out-of-universe, but in-universe and even ingame, how many people actually want to go through the trouble of raising a Zubat?
>>56860098I agree with this anon that you should add Skuntank and Garbodor. But my reasons are much more mean cause he looks like someone I'd want to Seismic Toss from orbit and then turn his face into a donut with my fist for good measure.

I always thought E-Chan was a gay guy desu. Zigzagoon is a very gay male choice for a favorite Pokemon. I don't really know why, though. Just an (incorrect) gut feeling I guess.
>>56868958>Zigzagoon is a very gay male choice for a favorite Pokemon. How so? Why is preference for a cartoon raccoon an indicator of a lack of masculinity?
>>56869077I don't really understand it either. It's like a gaydar even though I'm not gay. But in my experience, female Pokemon fans gravitate either towards standard femininemons like Primarina or the unbiquitous mascots of Pikachu and Eveee, or sometimes the Quirk Chungus designs like Stinkatranny and Orthworm. If I had to guess, it's probably because Zigzagoon isn't very well known and reads like some autistic gay guy invested in the franchise who gravitates towards lesser known cutemon designs.
>>56852537I'm tempted to either make a new Pokemon-based jacket for the Koa interview or reuse one of the two from CHD but I'm probably just going to reuse the original black leather jacket + white band shirt outfit that I originally planned for CHD before switching to that Weavile one.>>56868888I once considered having an editor until I realized that the only reason I really wanted/needed one is because generally I do not enjoy making descriptions unless it's for something that I really like (see here). I basically have to force myself to go back and edit in/elaborate on descriptions of scenery and locations because while it's something that I can do well if I try, it's not something that I really enjoy doing or care about too much. And also just the difficulty of finding one who not only tolerates my idiosyncrasies but also just finding one as a whole. Like Emily's struggle but much less autistic.
>>56869186Like this shit kinda mid ngl. I know this can be better but I kind of have to force myself to make it better.
>>56869127Well, I love Eevee and its evolutions, but so do most fans. I love some of the starters, but so do most fans. There are a lot of Poke'mon that fall through the cracks and don't get a lot of love, just because they aren't Kanto mons or used in competitive play. So, I prefer to spread the love around and focus more on the overlooked ones. I also really love Farfetch'd and both Farfetch'd and Zigzagoon were pretty forgotten until they got regional variants. Kinda awkward, given that I'm not partial to the variants. They get all the attention for being new, but I'm glad someone loves them.
>>56869077everyone knows raccoons are gay
>>56868958>Zigzagoon is a very gay maleYou stfu about Zigzagoon. Zigzagoon, and it's evolution Linoone, is a very cute being. It can have Master Cuteness, and it fetches you the cutest things. So if you don't like Zigzagoon, you are the gay one.

I was thinking at one point of adding a Typhlosion to Emily's team since it's perpetually pissed off grumpy looking mug suits her along with similar dispositions when someone does finally truly piss her off and since Typhlosion was the first starter I had since I started playing Pokemon with Gold and Silver but like there's already Volcarona on the team for Fire and then there's the leaks.
>>56871438>And then there's the leaksUh, excuse me? #NotAllTyphlosions, alright? Only because one went down bad, doesn't mean the species should be punished. One Hypno captured a girl, it doesn't mean all Hypnos are pedophile rapists. And one Slaking "corrected" a woman who was hunting his species, it doesn't mean he is an ugly bastard to NTR you.Hypnos are great for people with sleep problems, and they mainly "hunt" Abras and Musharnas. As for Slakings, they are rare in their own line of species, and most are really lazy to attack people, they only do it when provoked and it takes a lot.So Typhlosion isn't a dope pusher who "cuddles" young girls, he is a cute, big, fatty hedgehog that deserves love and hugs.Besides, they ask for consent now, and no longer use berries.#NotAllTyphlosions

Bump. Trying to make some progress on Chapter 3 today but my brain is drawing blanks on what to do for a slice of life bit that I do want in there BEFORE getting down to the conflict bits.
>>56871620Also that story was poorly translated. The relationship between the Typhlosion and the woman (woman, not girl) was more like Beauty and the Beast where she’s kinda forcefully in his home but he’s clearly protecting her and keeping her safe. That’s because all those stories weren’t fanfics, it was a collection of yokai myths but they put a Pokémon on top of the yokai. There’s a badger yokai that Typhlosion was partially inspired by, so the link wasn’t too hard to make.
>>56872205It's time off. You can make it about Emily's sisters or her Mawile and Tinkaton having an adventure while Emily rests.
>>56872261Thing is that Mawlie, Tinkaton and her other Pokemon don't really stray from her. So that one's not really an idea I can use. Plus my idea of foreshadowing Chapter 4 would be having Emily observed by someone as she is going about her mundane day. Though ideally most likely doing so with Mari in tow.
>>56872269>Most likely doing so with Mari in townDo it, bring Aira (or whatever her name was) too. Girls' day out!
>>56872373Was relatively the plan, I'm just not sure what to have them doing, especially in terms of anything actually interesting. Slice of life generally is not my forte and usually it's the writing partner I am working with that fills in those gaps between all the major escapades and what few slice of life ideas of my own I come up with.
>>56872382Well, slice of life is usually used as a break. Considering Emily went full in against an overconfident enemy and trash one of their facilities with ease (that without counting the battle droids destroyed as well), she would LOVE to get the next clue, go to the second HQ, and fight until her arms fall off. But, as many things in life, it requires planning, so now her sisters must do logistics to find the next move of the enemy.Mari will probably try to cheer her sister who wants to cut some scalps while her enemies scream in terror, but now she will have to do with Whack-A-Digglet. Meanwhile, Aira has to read all the snippets of data she managed to get before Emily trashed the mainframe, so that means a day of staring at the computer for countless hours, which also means junk snacks and energy drinks. You could also make a joke like this:>"You think Aira is done by now?">"We only left one hour.">"She is brilliant with technology, so she must be done.">"She is fast, but not that fast. She must be decoding all the information right now.">"I hope she finishes soon."Meanwhile*Tap tap tap*.... *bzzzt!*.... "ugh.... Porygooooooooon!!! i sketched a pokemon trainer, what do i do now?
You sketched a Trainer without building a backstory/background first? It's generally easier to figure out what to do if you figure out what kind of person and story the character will be/will have and forming a visual design around that.
>>56879755Shit, forgot to quote >>56879743
>>56879743Give an elevator pitch. What is this character concept condensed down to its most fundamental essence? As it stands, we have a tomboyish outdoorsy type (the haircut and outfit) who isn't afraid to get hurt and is prepared for it (the bandaids), doesn't have much energy (the heavy eye bags) and has a Gengar in her shadow. A very eclectic set of traits. What's her story? What team has she assembled? Is she from a Region familiar to us or somewhere else entirely? You have the benefit of working with a completely blank slate, the sky's the limit.
>>56879755>It's generally easier to figure out what to do if you figure out what kind of person and story the character will be/will have and forming a visual design around that.Since when is that ever an actual prerequisite to a design?
>>56880249I said it's easier, not a prerequisite. Don't make me get ugly with you.
>>56855739answering this one again. got me outfit drafting you sly anon you. going the medieval route had me focus on fighting types this time with koraidon carrying over since it's the one she's got the strongest bond with. i kinda used this as a chance to do a full version of the vampire outfit i drafted up last thread >>56814852. team of 4 since i like the idea of trainers of old focusing more on smaller, well trained teams. lucario references that one bit of trivia i threw out a long time ago that raising a riolu as a first partner was an old tradition in bibi's family that kinda dies with her, so it'd be her starter in this case.>>56871409unfortunately i'm not delivering on rad bibi today. that's more incentive for me to make one more haikyuu reference, i'd really like to show her having an oppressive, ushijima like aura>>56871438i really love typhlosion, sucks that its reputation's always going to be a bit tainted because of the leaks, it'd look cool standing next to her>>56879743can't speak from a writing standpoint but from one artist to another it's totally fine to just think about scenarios you want to draw them in! i like her look, really sporty which you don't see all too often on ghost type trainers.
>>56880269Even without the leaks there's also the fact she already has a ranged Fire type specializing Pokemon in Volcarona. Would feel a bit redundant.
>>56880269unfortunately, sitting down and looking at the finished piece had me think "well, this is just lolita, isn't that kind of way too modern?" so then i tried aiming for something a little more traditional....but it also felt off. probably the crinoline, since apparently those didn't end up being things since the 1800s so once again victorian fashion is my undoing. went and made an armor design instead since i figured nothing says medieval like a knight, i've already done koraidon armor though so i used sirfetch'd this time, since a dorky design would be fun to work around. bonus nyx and rina shenanigans drawn during a bout of insomnia.
>>56880273i suppose. ah well, not like her and volcarona wouldn't look fun together too, its fluffy body works nicely with her hair

>>56880338>I'm really taken by how you've drawn Gallade's eyesflattered you think so! honestly i think one of my favorite parts of the whole leak business is just getting more concept/reference art of pokemon to better understand how they're supposed to look from different angles. >>56880321definitely not a bad idea at least, looking forward to what you come up with, got any name ideas for now?

But hey, while you're still with us: Episode 6 will be coming out SOON (TM) (I'll be picking up the editor from work), and the final Episode will be next after that. In honor of the finale and how important my /tog/ muses have been to me throughout all of this, I want to do a casting call for our Paldean-born characters and give them the choice to opt in to having a special guest appearance above the little cameos I've peppered in so far. If Mikoanon wasn't killed by the common cold, I'd run the same question by them, but I leave the decision to (you). >>56880406>It might change, we're in the early stagesTake it from me, unless you absolutely already have your heart set on a particular name, stick with a placeholder or the anxiety of coming up with a good name will drive you insane. Audrey's a fine name, at any rate.
Hey, OCfags, I got a sudden question. Is your OC your self-insert or your waifu or husbando or just daughter or son or just a character you wanted to make because reasons or a combination of any of those.
>>56880437Just a character
>>56880437The answer is, it depends. You'll get pretty much all of the above here from at least one regular or another. Me personally, I intentionally keep all of my own kinks out of my work as a simple professional courtesy. Sometimes you read things that you just know were typed one-handed, and I'm not putting someone else through that.
>>56880418Wait, didn't you say there will be eight episodes and not seven? Did the last one get cut or is it deliberately being put on the burner as a sort of unnecessary "epilogue"?>>56880437Some aspects of my protag's personality are exaggerated aspects of my personality. I won't say by how much they're exaggerated by. Some parts of his personal views are directly transplanted from my own, others are stuff that I made up, and again, I won't say which are which.
>>56880437A mixed of 5/45/20/30 I'd say
>>56880458>Wait, didn't you say there will be eight episodes and not seven?Correct, I did! Episode 7 will be split into a two-parter so I have an excuse to type the number 7 twice and I am not joking about that. Unlike every other episode, there is no gap between the first and second act here, it's actually a traditional chapter setup. So while I'll still be writing both episodes as if they were standalone releases, 8 doesn't pass the "tourist test," it's not possible to understand it without 7, so it's really just a 7-2. And needless to say, I wouldn't be releasing 7-1 until 7-2 is at least mostly done because that would be cruel. The epilogue is both very necessary and is not a factor in this decision, since y'know, being an epilogue, it serves as a bow on top of a completed package.

Speaking of which>>56850455 >>56850581 >>56850670 >>56850737 >Reposted for exposure and feedback.I'm struggling on how to characterize BBEG. I've got two decisions for names, the first one is actually two in one, he first has a comically mundane name, and then takes on the edgelord name "Occasus" to sound more threatening, much like Alex's actual story, Alex doesn't find out that the villain is the guy from before until the very end. Alternatively, I could go with the name of the scrapped "pure evil" villain that I posted a REALLY long time ago: Andrew Zorn Slyver (Slyiver?). A friend told me it sounds like an anime villain name, and well, if you know anything about Alex's proposed outfit for this fantasy AU thing, yeah, it kind of is an anime thing. I've been watching a bunch of "How do you make your villain scary/hateable" DnD TTS videos since ultimately this is still based off of DnD 5E (do you guys recommend 2014 or 2024 for writing purposes?). I don't really know how I will flesh out this guy's "Post-Fiend" personality, I just know that he'll only be a pathetic thief archetype before he goes with the Fiend, but he has a vindictive streak even during this "pathetic" phase that I want to imply during the raid scene of Chapter 1. But I'm not super sure on how to do that because it's really just Alex killing the thieves and burning their camp.>>56880598Really? What makes you say that? Besides the nu-gen DnD players of course.
>>56880437OCfags, I have another sudden question. What is the practicality of a trainer being dressed like this?
>>568806292014's core rulebooks were introduced alongside the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure that served as an introduction to the system and how it should have been run. It's a fun and fast-paced dungeon romp that's easy but nevertheless has a few competency checks in place, like the first major boss fight against a Hobgoblin and his lesser goblin troops. If you and your friends don't have a proper party setup and sense of tactics, that hobgoblin will fuck your mouth raw, hand you a blank character sheet, and tell you to try again. Well, a lot of limpdicks were upset that their sensitive half-orc tomato gardener or le funny wizard with low intelligence wasn't cut out to be an adventurer, so WotC spend the next ten years sanding off any possible challenge or difficult decision-making and bloating the system with useless cancer instead of meaningful content so that D-list e-celebs can livestream their community theatre improv nights. We went from "you must have this much IQ to pass" to officially-endorsed combat wheelchairs and published adventure modules that donkey punch the emergency brakes on the game so that the DM can host a lecture on body positivity with a gender-fluid elf druid and I am actually underselling what a mess it all is. Because the idea of an orc being better-suited for melee combat than a gnome was deemed problematic by a member of the starbucks loyalty program, all races were given equal stats and made completely identical PC grey blobs. This was deemed more important than creating content for characters once they approach, hit or exceed the level cap. Don't let that handbook anywhere near an open cut, is all I'm saying.
>>56880718It's a very practical outfit: it lets everyone else around you know that you were neglected by your parents without having to talk to you first.

Look, there's paying homage or making a reference, and then there's direct plagiarism where instead of correcting the pronouns, you invent a reason why you didn't change "she" to "he," which I thought was an odd choice. And directly quoting bibiking calling (you) a faggot felt kind of tonedeaf to me. You could cut out the music lyrics entirely beyond a hyperlink and everyone would probably have a better time trying to keep track of everything.
>>56880780>We went from "you must have this much IQ to pass" to officially-endorsed combat wheelchairsSo, basically DnD went from stat building characters like old Elder Scrolls (imagine Arena or Daggerfall), to basically Fallout 4 builds. Also>Wheelchairsreminds me of a wizard fighting on a wheelchair, and I can see a character like that, but the issue is that you are making a literal DISABLE person fight on a battlefield. You don't even have to fight it, just put some stairs on it's way, get fucked no-legs.
>>56882244>Look, there's paying homage or making a reference, and then there's direct plagiarism where instead of correcting the pronouns, you invent a reason why you didn't change "she" to "he"I'm confused, are you referring to the "You're not one of us" scene? That was a joke about the guy being like an "NPC" and Alex looking like a woman, respectively. Admittedly at that point I was on a huge crunch and kind of rushing. I don't think it was clear that that was the joke.>spoilerThis'll be elaborated on a bit more in the explanation document but that was done in order to provide a bit of background as to why he's so self-absorbed.>MusicI was expecting this. Well, that was kind of a reference to the opening of EIF where the indie guy is singing while Phos is talking to December. It's quite experimental, much like the perspective shift in the middle of the Mimikyu fight. How well did I do on that? I plan to make more usage of perspective shifts in my writing. I have to improve, right?>the only womanThere’s a BIG reason behind this that goes beyond Alex being mad at a woman daring to challenge him that will be revealed in the explanation document, along with some other stuff about her.Anyways I appreciate the feedback. I was kind of expecting to fail to measure up but at least I can improve from this. At least now I know that you read it.Word of advice to aspiring writers/artists: Expect failure. If you fail, you will be more prepared for it, and if you succeed, it will be a pleasant surprise and feel better.>>56852537Completely unrelated, but I have discovered that the email verification links may not actually last for 24 hours. If you use them like five times before the 24 hours are up, the link becomes invalid anyway. I haven't paid attention to the exact number yet.
>>56881562On a lighter note, does it surprise you that I was also the person who requested the Fanservice Fusion Dance?>>56882412I had to look this up because this sounded like parody that comes from some popular libtard homebrew. No, it's fucking real.
>>56882495I really can’t be bothered to edit this post anymore but I also have to make this detail important. The reason that I include lyrics in my writing is because I consider it essential for each lyric (or lack of lyric) to be present at the time that something happens. For example, the “I just had to destroy something beautiful” line (read the fic), or Alex’s speech being intended to be read specifically during the second solo/second section of the solo (whichever you consider it as) of Grime. It’s a fixation kind of like how Emily attaches “reference images” in the middle of his writing. Yes it makes things harder to follow but it’s a big part of how I envision things.
>>56882510>It's fucking realLike I said, there's nothing wrong with having a disabled character, but the issue is implementation. If you are going to make him/her act in an action moment, he/she will have to lose the chair, and that will be a MASSIVE movement penalty. If you want to use a disabled character like that, the chair has to be a temporal item. Something that the character uses in peaceful/planning time. If it has to fight, then it will need a novelty item or a temporal spell that allows their legs to move, but that also carry a big mana penalty, or suffer paralysis (not suddenly lost their lower halfs after use, but something like if the item runs out of fuel/mana, the character won't move There was a character like that in Shining Force for the Sega Genesis)
I hope you are having a great weekend, /tog/!

Phos's introduction is set up like a quiet scene in a Tarantino flick. The scene is slow by design and there's not a whole lot going on. The lights are dimmed and the details of the room become darkened silhouettes. It's just a coffee shop. The emphasis is on Phos and December doing nothing except sitting down and having a relaxed dialogue while the singer reinforces the atmosphere and subconsciously prepares the reader for Phos and Franco's dynamic later on. The song lyrics are an active participant of the conversation and not just window dressing. The audience is tasked with processing>the basic layout of the coffee shop>Phos and December's conversation>and the guitarist Contrast that with the post scriptum at the end of Alex's story, where the emphasis is ostensibly placed on Alex making a sandwich while the song lyrics are actively competing against the news broadcast for attention. Throughout it all, the audience is now tasked with processing >the layout of Alex's home>Alex's wardrobe >Alex's actions >what's going on in the news >Alex's commentary on the news >his phone feed>Alex's commentary on his phone feed>practicing his footwork >and the song lyrics blaringIt's total chaos just listing off what's happening. The more actors you have in play, the harder it becomes to create a meaningful sense of synergy tying them all together. The actors will either conflict with one another and dilute the narrative, or one or two actors will have their roles reduced to just saying "I'm here too!"
>>56885110>I read everything that gets posted here, you know that.I don't know that.>Are you sure there wasn't another ulterior motive there?I have NO IDEA what you mean by this. Is there something you're seeing that I'm not?>I recognize the homage, butEmphasis on "Kind of", because that wasn't really the main intention even though the way I worded it suggested that I did. In retrospect, the actual opening of Trespasser is probably much closer to Phos's introduction than the ending, "slow by design" and interrupted all of a sudden by the introduction of the main event (you know what I'm referring to here in both cases). I was REALLY debating whether or not to keep that scene or just leave off on the pseudo-cliffhanger of "Wonder what she's up to", not actually worried for its "chaos" but rather just whether or not it would make the audience cringe. I kept it in as a sort of "send-off" to Alex's EIF fanshit, I don't plan on making more of it and the whole of both The Follow-Up and Control Human Delete were created with the primary purpose of giving context to The Dossier, which I found it was really lacking in beyond "Alex wants something out of the cast"; what does he want, why does he want it, etc. I found it to be rather easy to follow, but someone else once mentioned that while they think it's a way of giving flavor to the story, it does make it harder to follow for them, so I think that's just differences in reader preferences. Furthermore, I think you're overestimating the emphasis placed on each item. I don't intend for you to focus on Brent or Dominic, that IS actually just a bit of background noise because I don't want this to look like some sort of solipsistic self-indulgence centered solely on Alex like the dancing scene from Joker. It's kind of just a sort of "return to normalcy" scene and while it was intended to be a bit "cinematic" (hence the music) I wasn't trying to imitate anything in particular. >blaringTurn volume down
>>56885446But I do have one burning question, well, two. The first is, can you draw Azelie like >>56880718 or not, and the second one is: Was "Bojack Mannsdale" funny?
>>56885446Well now you know. >I don't want this to look like some sort of solipsistic self-indulgence centered solely on Alex like the dancing scene from JokerThat's actually exactly what I thought of. >can you draw Azelie likeCan I? Of course I could. Will I? No. She's French, not German, the flag shirt simply wouldn't make sense for her character. >WasEh, you had better puns sprinkled in elsewhere.
>>56885523>That's actually exactly what I thought of.I wouldn't fault you for doing that but the intent was different (I guess I'm honored you thought I was aping Joker). My memory does not serve me right, but from what I remember, Arthur was getting out of a mental hospital and he's starting to embrace his new "insanity". His movements are quite shitty, though still better footwork than Alex, but he's visibly nonchalant, he doesn't really care anymore, but he still hasn't been pushed over the edge by whatever happens that makes him then want to kill Murray. It's kind of the beginning of the real slippery slope as this is the first time (?) he has the clown makeup on. I guess I put this in there either subconsciously or am just stretching it, but in a weird way, with the "soothing silence, timeless wonder" line, I guess I kind of... did ape Joker after all? He kind of rediscovered his "other side" which, coupled with his other encounters with the Paradoxes, eventually leads to the events of The Dossier. But the primary intent is just to show him winding down and having fun after pissing off a bunch of criminals and somehow not actually having to kill anyone. That's kind of why I added in the news stuff, as Arthur on the stairs was very much a self-centered piece intended for character development while this is kind of not. I will say, the "chaos" of the scene is kind of supposed to signify how chaos follows wherever Alex goes. All of that being said, I do kind of want to release an omnibus of the three Alex fanshits with Dossier designated as "Collaboration Episode" and the other two designated as "Fan Episode", potentially adding "Not My Problem" into CHD (given that the opening chapter was only like two or three pages) and with the explanation document stapled onto the back end along with some bonus content, so if you have any suggestions for edits to make so that this can be a kind of "Redux Edition", I'm open to hearing them (but spoiler them).

>>56884630As for this, yesterday when I went to bed, I kind of realized that I only draw and write for attention. More specifically, while I began to write and (will) draw because I wanted to develop a vision that I had, what keeps me going is attention. I've been running from the main motivating factor for artwork: I really just want to increase the perceived value of my creations as whole because I feel like more attention is paid to those who have their own homegrown visuals than those who do not. It sucks because it feels like I'm now just doing this all for attention seeking. It's also why I'd quit so quickly and shamelessly if I feel like my stuff isn't getting attention. That sucks even more because I'd rather get no attention at all than a captive audience, I'd truly hate for people to feel obligated to view my works out of pity. This isn't a "woe is me" thing, it's just a logical perspective: If there's no demand, why supply (an inferior good)? To continue with the economic metaphor, there's also specialization. Why shouldn't I just leave art to the artists and focus on writing? The more I draw, the less I write.Archivist blathered to me about "positive reinforcement" the last time I made the mistake of opening up, and it made me realize that... I just kinda don't care? I am exceptionally difficult to positively reinforce because I do not value positive reinforcement most of the time. Compliments are worthless. What the hell can you do with a compliment? Exchange it for a candy bar? Would you rather get told that you do a good job at work or get a raise? Really, I only value tangible goods (in this case, fanart), basically any time I get "positively reinforced" I don't care because I want something more. There's a lot more than I'd rather have than a compliment, but also, actually asking for it is kind of a dick move. "Do X to show me that you REALLY care" is fucking needy. 4chan is especially notorious for mocking beggars, and that's not unjustified.
>>56886146Holy crap, you little legend. Can you drop a download link for the new outfit before you go?
>>56886170But, if you insist on complementing me, just give me some trite two or three letter phrase like "Nice job", maybe attach my name to it, "Nice job Alex", because that at least lets me know that it was seen and I want visibility above all else. I hate it when people compliment me just for putting in "effort", that's like a participation trophy, and it's frankly insulting, and >>56886146 OH WOW MOST THE MOST RISQUE ART OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO she would look better with a navel piercing tbqh

>>56886170>a compliment or a raiseThis isnt mutually exclusive. Compliments are as tangible as the person giving them. If someone complimenting you doesn't do anything for you, it's because you didn't value their view to begin with or you simply assume they're wrong because you believe only your perspective matters and any variations don't exist so they must be lying or trying to get something from you. Sure you can't buy groceries with it, but you can't buy groceries with a word document and you do that just fine. It's okay to progress slowly, it's okay to post what you make, and its okay to look for attention. Especially here where we share something as ephemeral as an OC with each other.
>>56886170>the social mammal is surprised to have social wants and needs There's a lot to dissect here and I'm out AFK right now so I'll be brief, but would fanart not fall under positive reinforcement by your metric? You're receiving something for your continued behavior. Contrast negative reinforcement, where I stop threatening to brain you with a brick when you're not acting like a nuisance. It is true that something created from scratch is valued more than a bingbot or picrew generation, but that doesn't necessarily mean the character itself isn't valuable. It's what you do with it. We've seen plenty of creations drop in, make a great first impression, and then disappear because there's never a followup. I don't think you're looking at things from the right perspective. You should want to learn how to draw not just because of the added value and skills that come with it (look at how fried the average attention span is these days, few people are actually willing to sit still and draw and draw and draw until they have a masterpiece), but because knowing how to draw gives you independence. You are not beholden to someone else's vision. Same deal with writing. If someone introduces themselves as a fan, they'll always be the lesser in the relationship. You shouldn't settle for being a fan of your heroes. You should want to be their equal. Or exceed them. But, all that being said, I understand the hunger for fanart. The first time bibiking drew Phos and Franco together, I was over the moon, I couldn't believe it. And I've worked tirelessly all this time to be worthy of all the praise this general has given me since then. >>56886369Cheers, mate. Thanks for coming by. And don't listen to him. >>56886405>but would fanart not fall under positive reinforcement by your metricIt’s a greater form of it. Compliments are a lesser form of positive reinforcement that I don’t care for. It’s like getting a Hot Wheel versus getting an actual car as a present.> You shouldn't settle for being a fan of your heroes. You should want to be their equal. Or exceed them.I don’t aspire to do this at all, because I can’t aspire to do the impossible. A “hero” is someone that I can never be like no matter how hard I try. That’s the whole point of looking up to someone, you look UP to them. If I surpassed my “heroes”, they would *instantly* stop being my “heroes”. I would just be my own “hero”. You can’t look UP to an equal. If I started now and gained five years of experience, someone who has five years of experience now would have ten years of experience by that time, or, they quit, and I pass them. It’s an uncloseable gap under normal circumstances and would only be surmounted under extraordinary circumstances.

I wonder what the distinctions between "fantasy RPG" and medieval are drawn clothing-wise. I imagine the main thing is that fantasy stuff is a bit more impractical and elaborate over normal medieval stuff. Funny thing is, what you made here actually translates pretty well into the JRPG realm, at least in my opinion. >>56888563>>56888597compared with >>56869186 I still can't really put my finger on the line between standard medieval and fantasy besides the obvious element of skin exposure, those two fit in fantasy and medieval but this one >>56869186 only fits in fantasy and I can't put my finger on the additional reasons why
>>56888563>I wonder what the distinctions between "fantasy RPG" and medieval are drawn clothing-wiseGoing off a tangent here: I feel Medieval RPG and Fantasy RPG are similar, yet very different settings. While is true that both have elements like dragons, magical beasts, wizards, and deities, both are completely different in execution.>Medieval- You can be a knight, a rogue, a magician, or a thief.- You ride carriages with horses or boats across the sea- Your race can be human, elf, dwarf, or orc- Your adventures happen in dungeons, caves, or mythical forests- Full set of armor, maybe capes if you pick the fast class, or a robe for the magic ones.>Fantasy- You are a barbarian, a murderer, or a warlock wizard- You ride on giant lizards, big elephants/hogs, or downright futuristic vehicles with not-useful physics- Your race is thin or ABSOLUTE UNIT- Your adventures happen in arenas, dead desserts, slaved towns, cursed temples, or realms beyond our reality- Loincoth or steel. Pick your codpiece that will only cover your balls (and nipples, if you are a woman)As for JRPGs, I'd recommend Tactics of Ogre, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, the Shining saga, and Atelier Iris (more precisely, the second one for the PS2).>Not quite medieval, not quite colonial, but arguably has the best of bothAh, the beginning of the firing squads and first "armed" armies. Makes me wonder why at least people tried to make early body armor, but I guess it would've been too expensive/complicated.
>>56888636>Do not cite the fiery magic to me, witch. I was there when it was written.

I've got a lot of TTs and TQs I want to tackle but haven't had the brainspace for, now that I do I'll probably tackle them Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hey Atlus I know who you are. Rerororororororo. Bulululululululu.
Okay, the midnight crew can have a little spoiler. As a treat.Fun fact: Measuring in with 59 layers, the full image is far and away the most intricate drawing I've ever done.I'm very excited for the next release. Unfortunately for all of us, the editor is more excited about overtime pay than editing. Maybe I should start paying the editor too...
>>56889589Oh, this is looking great.
Seeing as no-one else has while our grymanon is away, I guess I'll be the one to do it this thread. The second Community Booster Pack starts NOW!CROSS ASCENSION!Take Pokémon to the next level: the Xth Level! With LV.X cards, gain new abilities and attacks to turn the tides of battle in your favour!MEGA Pokémon also return as LV.X cards!>Use https://pokecardmaker.net/creator to create your cards.>Access the recently-expanded Schizo Resource Pack here for backgrounds provided by the Archivist: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15yLgfXZUNxehHv79cBMEk5M8dueHg_9e?usp=sharing>Edit your background/card style with https://www5.lunapic.com/editor/>Submit your cards here: https://forms.gle/rinJ5WeXFW25GQva7Submissions end December 11th, all rules and resources included in form link!>You can read about them and how they work here: https://files.catbox.moe/0vg83h.png >Mega Pokémon will be reintroduced as LV.X cards also, be sure to place the following rulebox on the left just under the image border: https://files.catbox.moe/h63wnz.png>Example of a regular LV.X card: https://files.catbox.moe/1bz70x.png>Example of a MEGA LV.X card: https://files.catbox.moe/pj4cms.png>To create a LV.X card, select the Sword/Shield Base Set type, and under Subtype select LV.X>Look at existing LV.X cards here: https://pkmncards.com/level/x/>HP limit is 210.>Replace the SV1 tag in the bottom left with TOG2Don't be afraid to post any cards you're happy with here too for the thread to look at.
>>56890055>think about finally doing this>the powercreep level intended for this would be around when Emily JUST finished her time in Unova-- when her Mawile's Mega Evolution was still an involuntary anger point berserk mode type of thing>but there's no art of a zerking out Mega Mawile and maybe like a handful of cool Mawile pictures-- as opposed to simply cute onesEch
>>56890151You can always ask an anon to make the card/commission someoneI'm sure if they have the model and you ask them nicely then once grymanon is back they might make a Mawile and Mega Mawile card
>>56890267I don't really have money for a commission all the comms I DO have were made through a friend that simply likes Emily a lot in general. And I don't know if a 3D model can properly portray the fact that said point in the timeline I'd be deriving from for said card was when Mega Evolution only happened for Mawlie under anger/going berserk.
>>56890267>>56890280Oh right, and Grymanon seems busy enough as it is. I don't wanna be doin' that.
>>56890280Well, one easy way you could 3d model her is through vroid studio. Saw a few nips and their unity indie games, and the way they get 3d models for their chars is through that.Personally played around with it for like10 minutes, but I can see how that'd be a fruitful endeavor
>>56890321I don't know anything about 3D modeling at all though.
>>56890356The whole point is that these people don't
>>56890391aaaaaaa but how does it end up as more than just a preset-bound character creation app if you lack modeling knowledge or skill? How do people like me end up with something far more unique? Or do stuff like make models of Pokemon?
>>56852537>>56852544>>56852714OP, I am pleading with you to clean up the recent link spam so we can post grym's copypasta >>56890055 without creating the ugliest, most cluttered thread start ever. I can make it really easy for you, too:>>56888599Gilded Platinum is the only updated file this thread. I am asking you politely not to be a gigantic faggot.
>>56890451Oh I also updated my npc doc
>>56890791And he also updated his NPC doc. Is that still available in the compendium?
>>56891228Yeah, and when I get home Gilded and the Haunting are going in there too
>>56888539>>56888429I was wondering if someone noticed Gene dead on the floor or people just didnt acknowledged it>>56890406>Preset bound character creation appYou steal/take shared the stuff from other people, that is how I make Azelie, gene and the next future models. I check my 50 GB collection of cards I grabbed over the years for characters that fit the vibe I go for, then I start making a frankenstein, the end result becoming Azelie, gene and my other cards, also lots of mods>How do people like me end up with something far more uniqueengaging with the program, In koikatsu being able to change shaders or learn how stuff like "Maintex" ,"alphatex" and other stuff already allows you way more flexibility in these things, but at tht point it becomes a question of "Do I get good in this thing instead of learning a proper 3d engine like blender?"Blender is way harder but there have been conversations like that>Models of pokemonIn Koikatsu there is a mod maker that ported a bunch of Pokemon models from the main games, I will be surprised if other games like MMD didn't do similar stuff, if not outright allow you to load the model itself.
Sup. It's ya boi Kouji-Anon back at it again with the story time—is what I'd say but that shit takes way too long to actually write out from memory. I'm still alive and so is the campaign with a few hiccups along the way but nothing egregious. Thanks to the guy who archived the stuff because I sure as shit didn't know the OG pastebin got destroyed.
>>56891491In my defense, my eyes were focused elsewhere. >>56891692Damn, that's a throwback. I certainly didn't think we'd be seeing you again, but welcome back.
>>56892036>welcome backYe danke. Been busy and was reminded this place existed after shooting the shit with the boys and faffing about musing if we wanted to open the server to people to playtest the TTRPG rules.
>>56852537I say we recycle these prompts >>56859014 for the next thread since there's still a lot of potential there.
>>56892121>Thanks to the guy who archived the stuff because I sure as shit didn't know the OG pastebin got destroyed.Yeah, that happened just a day or two after you dropped off your story. >musing if we wanted to open the server to people to playtest the TTRPG rules.Funny you say that. We have another tabletop player running Pokemon Tabletop United and just dumped all the core rulebooks and a prewritten adventure for Pokemon Tabletop Adventures in the last thread. Maybe /qst/ would be interested in organizing something. Goodness knows that poor board could use the traffic.
Holy shit I FINALLY found a song to write this initial scene in Chapter 3 to. But now I need to think of more activities for Emily and Mari to do on their day off in Lumiose City. I have like 2 things in mind but I need more.
>>56893172Metal detecting, throwing rocks at each other's sand castles to see who made the best one, volleyball, shell hunting, surfing, wake boarding, hang gliding, campfire, picnic, studying Beach pokemon, having their pokemon race, convincing the stick in the mud of the group to have some fun doing any of these things
>>56893266A bit too early for anything beach related. It's very early spring in the setting right now.
>>56893266>>56893283Oh yeah, that and Lumiose City is LANDLOCKED bruh. I said things for them to do IN LUMIOSE.
>>56893266Also, bocce ball, RC boat racing, Driving up and down the beach, chucking beached pokemon back into the water, snorkeling,
>>56893290>>56893283Nevermind then
>>56893266>>56893295He said land lock, bro.>>56893290Shopping, cafes, street walking, visiting a local park, Emily working her 'control' by fighting randos on the street and NOT obliterate them first hit.Karaoke, dancing, movies, go to the Luminose Tower and see the sights.
>>56893301Stuff like those were things I already had in mind that I'm saving for the Alola vacation arc anyway
>>56893308Emily's not really the type to randomly fight people and apart from Team Flare themselves, Kalos-- let alone Lumiose City-- doesn't seem to have a real hooligan/shady enterprise problem. As for the rest of that, those are obvious choices but it's super unclear how one would make it FUN to write out and INTERESTING to read.
>>56893320Hey, is a SoL chapter. Is a pause.Something to shine a bit of spotlight in the personal lives of our heroes. Not everything has to be a war where everything is on the line.We just read about Mawile and Tinkaton take on a mecha Mewtwo, Aegislash destroying the soul of a poor sod, and Emily sent a giant robot to space. Now reading about Mari doing her nails or Arai using her pulls to get a SSR skin would be fine.
>>56893438>Emily sent a giant robot to spaceI'm actually getting annoyed with how many people are interpreting what I wrote incorrectly. Also SoL still has to be interesting in SOME way or else the writer just feels like skipping it and readers don't pay much attention to it.
>>56852537>>56893501
>>56893447>I'm actually getting annoyed with how many people are interpreting what I wrote incorrectly. If this is happening, then you probably just suck at descriptions, which is kind of obvious with how much you rely on "visual references", when they should be supplemental at most.
>>56892908There's a correction about whoever archived the stuff I wrote. The system I mostly designed had zero input from any other existing pokemon TTRPG system. Simply 5e and the actual pokemon game stats. If there's any interest I'll try and convince my DM to let me post a discord link so people can look at the rules and try it out for themselves. With enough convincing he might even allow people to voyeur the game every session (today is one such day).
>>56893565Words will always create an inconsistent mental image between people no matter how good you are with them. Visual references avoid this mental inconsistency between what the reader envisions and what the writer envisioned. I was perfectly clear that the ROBOT did something akin to Trick Room to INVERT gravity to send both itself and Emily into the sky through the skylight and then it deactivated it once they were both incredibly high up in the air to try and drop her into a giant orb of energy to kill her with. Only for her to then throw her energy-charged sword into it, detonate it and fall back down into the building they were inside of before-- the robot itself coming through the skylight in PIECES due to the explosion. Now go be stupid somewhere else, whoever you are.
>>56893805idk man, seems like at least some of the issue is with you
>>56893817I'm thinking people ended up SKIMMING my work cause it was already over 40k words long. And I already said I ain't doing that again apart from very specific key plot points in the future.
>>56893513Wow, OP, great advertising.
