It doesn't "disrupt hands". There's only one search card in the game and it only searches cards you can always immediately play.

What you're imagining is a situation where your opponent's holding 4+ cards in hand, but the whole point is that simply running Red Card in an open list tournament forces your opponent to never pass on 4+ cards because then they know they'll lose to a card they know you're running.

And in that situation, the ideal setup is to run Red Card but never draw it.

yeah i agree it isn't balanced. if we were never to add new sets and just buff/nerf genetic apex over time then yeah it would be a more fun game with a nerf/rework. i think the way to balance it isn't to nerf it though. as we get more good supports people will want to play ones that guarantee value, not misty. right now the 1 support/turn isn't a big deal since there are so few good supports to play for it to matter. lowrolling misty right now barely matters, but it will matter when it means your opponent is way ahead of you because they got a lot of value from their turn's support and you didn't. basically i think they just need more strong supports and that will fix it.

1. Are all cards going to stay in rotation or do you think they will add different lobbies for the current format and then a wanderer/legacy/all cards legal format too?
2. Does the paper TCG have set rotation?

It would be nice if they let us make lobbies/tournament matchmakings instead of just private battle.
You could choose which sets you wanted to allow, select how many open slots you wanted , maybe even theoretically let you make custom ban lists, and then after everyone joined (with deck validation) it would randomly seed everyone and lock your deck in until the tournament was over, with potentially the ability to leave to open packs and stuff and come back when your next round is ready.
They could also add a more social aspect to the game where you can see players hosting random tournaments and just joining them in a "first come first serve" type of deal.

But like hell they will ever add anything that complex and user friendly.

Things are easier if you make a to-do list on a notes app on your phone, on sticky note in your pc, and work yourself up to a task board in person.

you can see for yourself by looking at the little info tooltip in the pack points shop, it says your points will become unusable when they stop distributing the pack. whether that means they'll cycle it out right away like a gacha banner or leave it in rotation for 2 years like the normal tcg is anyone's guess. i hope it's the latter but i and everyone else are just pulling this out of our asses. paper TCG does 2 year rotations but this is a standalone game so there's not really a precedent for anything.

Without Blaine, Rapidash is a worse Exeggutor and Ninetales is a worse Starmie.
The only advantage is Ninetales being able to one-shot Pikachu (or Rapidash two-shotting) with Blaine.
And Stage 1 Pokemon with one-energy attacks are decent for when you're going first - but resolving Misty just mogs that.

They probably decided on 3 points as some kind of ADHD-friendly attempt to make the game more compatible with it being mobile/on the go battling, but what they should've done is allow for battle variation and customization. I know people want Ranked, but I'd rather not have a ladder. I'd rather they make different formats like a 3 point one, a 4 point one, a 5 point one, one without EX allowed, and then have a rotating set of custom rules to keep things fresh. That's what Pokemon Showdown does where there's a lot of love for not just OU but randbats, AG, and tons more. I think it'd be in their interest to create an abundance of formats, and then record analytics to see where people naturally flock to the most in order to determine what people like the most to go from there. As things are now, I can already predict that producing a solution for battling pains is probably going to lead to more groaning because they'll have overlooked X, Y, and Z.

Charizard Moltres for example basically loses the game to a well time Sabrina KOing Charmander so it's better to give them a free point by sending in a fossil than it is to lose your main wincon. I had the same thoughts on the game a while back but ultimately you have to just reframe your thinking. I come from competitive pokemon where any substantial enough hax is usually Really Fucking Gay and a huge setback, but here it's just part of the game. It definitely feels unsatisfying to just deckroll a guy from turn 1 with everything you need set up, but if it were for a ranked match or tournament with prizes, you'd take it, especially because it will go against you at some point as well. If your opp starts off well when you brick and you stay in the game for a while (even if you continue to get bad luck) then it means you outplayed him. You'll have that odd game here and there when you play your way out of a hole and the shit you need actually appears 4th or 5th from the bottom instead of being the very last card(s), and it's the best feeling in the world

I'm happy, having a Mewtwo Ex/Garde deck, a Venusaur Ex/Lilligant deck, a Pikachu Ex/Zapdos Ex deck, and now this. Believe in the RNG as a free player and you get rewarded.
