A thread for the creation and discussion of fan fiction and other fanworks - anything that involves a story and/or reading. What've you been reading? What've you been writing? What would you like to see more of?Thread question- how do you think the holidays are celebrated in the Pokemon world? How did Delibird evolve to look like that?
>>57135240>Fallers lmao That's unironically the answer, trying to adapt their world to ours sounds stupid and when Pokémon started to go to shit thanks to Masuda
Legends Kanto would be about the Unovan World War2.The carpet bombing of Alola + the Nuking of a region close to Johto

>>57135240Merry Christmas anons!Write a fictional story/post about Christmas in the Pokemon world, of any quality or length. If you can, the magic of Christmas will fill you with inspiration for the year to come! If you don't, you're a faggot grinch!
>>57135383In the Pokemon context, who are the Koreans of Pokemon and who are the Pinoys of Pokemon and who are the Chinese of Pokemon is the more important question.
>>57135240Any fanfics with dead Rhydon?
>>57135383Sinnoh? Because both live near the holy land?
>>57135240>how do you think the holidays are celebrated in the Pokemon world?Pretty much like the real world versions. The Japan-based regions treat it like a big date for lovers, the American and European regions have special family dinners.>spoilerI'm pretty much under the belief that Delibird evolved into Iron Bundle over an unbreakable human desire to make more effective gift deliverers due to holidays n' stuff, only for it to inevitably backfire with everything getting roboticized and more violent as if it were Archie Sonic.
>>57135554>everything getting roboticized and more violent as if it were Archie Sonic.Oh my god. The future of Pokemon is Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonichu is real.

Is it me or is Pokémon basically dead in fanfics? Almost no new stories nowadays >AshThat shit has been dead for two years now, but in general Pokémon stories are fewer and fewer
>>57135274Slateport would be one of them, so you have to include Hoenn.
>>57139046I'm working on a large-scale one but I can't even get y'all to read it, let alone anyone else ;_;So I took an extended break through the holiday season to refresh myself. I'm gonna start putting it up on Spacebattles as well to try and garner more attention.
>>57139119>SpacebattlesEw, anyways I think we had a list of the kind of stuff they love over there but good luck nonetheless
>>57135240>how do you think the holidays are celebrated in the Pokemon world?Gift giving and familial infighting/togetherness of course. Or at least, that's what I wrote.https://archiveofourown.org/works/6399850/chapters/14653318
any Johto fics?
>>57139527There's a poison type specialist one up on spacebattles (ew), to my knowledge. A Viper in the Hole.
>>57139046There's been plenty of new stories, what do you mean? On fanfiction.net alone there are tons published within the last couple months alone.
...It's fucking 4am and my mind just started cooking what would be a Maya civilisation-based region in pokemon, too bad i have zero experience as a writer and even less about pokemon, so i hope that i can just ramble the ideas out here for someone to pick up.
>>57140372So, South America?
I miss Nurse Joy
>>57141282Yes, or, as my mind remembered just after i posted the my message, the Aztecs, mostly because their religion and war practices have been going hand in hand with each other and it would be interesting to see it reflected in the pokemon world.
>>57141295Throw out your ideas, then. I had ideas for my locale as a region and wound up just making a big doc of it as a PTU setting, so you could do similar. >>57141283Same. I stepped in after the last Joy thread when I saw there wasn't one up, and it's been me and another anon posting these since.
>>57140372>>57141295Life force can be extremely powerful when properly harnessed, as shown by the Kalos ultimate weapon. I wonder if a society where human sacrifice is commonplace would've found a way to harness it, if not as a weapon then maybe as a source of energy. Maybe the presence of so much death attracts a lot of ghost or dark types to their cities. Would they sacrifice Pokemon as well as humans, I wonder? Would their League involve matches to the death, as ancient mesoamerican sports sometimes were?
>>57141334All right, considering the fact that due to the region's natural affinity to make some years' weather bad enough to destroy civilisations (which already happened in our world) and most religions in the region being, essentially, hopes that the sacrifices to gods can keep them strong enough for your civilisation to live another day. it might be understandable that there would be no league nor evil teams, especially if you use anime on the side for the disaster to wreck the region (The first movie i think?), because league might have never set foot here, and the teams might just not get enough footing right after a disaster.Add in that Aztecs in particular required warriors from conquered settlings (or just men that can fight) to fight them to death as a sacrifice, we get a league analogue with the main goal of fighting brutally enough to awaken the legendaries again just to live another year.>>57141337
>>57141358 (me)Of course, that isn't enough to add unique flavor to the region, especially with the world like pokemon, so, why not add a bit of ritualistic bloodsports vibe to it?Think of it like a fight with contest-like mechanics, but to make a crowd go wild you need less "pretty sparkles" and more "A lvl 1 ratata Hyper Beaming an opponent's ace and oneshotting it" kind of impressive for it to pass.Especially if we can make the audience's exitement a region gimmick, after all, a good blood sacrifice is one that required a lot of show and effort, and what's better at that than a brutal pokemon battle? And i also thank the music for even starting to think about that part of the region's flavouring:>https://youtu.be/OeU8UYJgxZg
>>57141402 (me)I would have written more, but it seems 3 hours of sleep is not enough for my language parts of the brain to work properly, so i will end it here, for now.
>>57141337>>57141358>>57141402A good start. Sounds a lot like the concept of 'Show Battling' that showed up in Orre games.
How do you guys organize long term fanfics? I've been writing off the cuff, but it makes it really hard to keep everything straight, and also near impossible to keep motivation.
>>57142457If it's too long for your finite motivation to finish, write something shorter. Your million-word magnum opus can come later. Most writers don't set out to make something super long as one of the first several works, at least not successfully.
>>57142457A story bible document with certain facts as you establish them that you can refer back to is a good idea. It might start as just a story outline and a brief characterization blurb, but when facts are mentioned, copy them over.
>>57142457I find that a txt file that briefly lists the important things that happened/were revealed each chapter is enough to help keep track of things.Other than that I keep a lot of notes via txt files that are messily organized in a tree of folders. The notes themselves are haphazardly shorthand most of the time but they help me keep background stuff straight. Ideas, plans, and things I'm not 100% on are also thrown into their own "ideas" folder tree.Motivation is its own bitch, but I can't helpt there since writing is only a hobby to me meaning I'm perfectly content if a drought of motivation strikes.
>>57135240>What've you been reading? A minimalist story about a blind kid romping through Hoenn. It's pretty fucking good.>What've you been writing?Long-ass urban mystery in New York-ified Unova about Kyurem. The biggest problem I've run into is that it involves a lot of special formatting and CSS abuse.>>57139119What about? You can't tell us you can't get anyone to read it if we don't even know what you're up to.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/61699543
>>57143060>What about? You can't tell us you can't get anyone to read it if we don't even know what you're up to.I've mentioned it a few times in these threads so I didn't want to harp on it, but to elaborate:>Story follows a teenaged boy named Kuzey and his Charcadet partner, raised in Paldea until his parents, a pair of foremost genetic researchers, mysteriously vanished several years ago. After spending time at Naranja Academy, in the present day he is sent to Kalos, to live with his aunt in Lumiose City at the chateau his family has lived in for generations.>But in his first day there things go awry when he crosses paths with two strange girls, Herri and Mia, with no memory of who they are, yet possess identical faces. And both girls are being pursued by a criminal organization with ties to a tech conglomerate called FableGen, aiming to capture them for some purpose.>Joined by some familiar faces from Lumiose, the three kids begin a journey across the Pokemon world, seeking to stop the machinations of FableGen while discovering where Herri and Mia come from; and in turn, how it all ties back to Kuzey's own past.In a more general sense, I'm trying to write an adventure story about an ensemble cast with a connecting theme running through them. Along with the starting three I want two more trainers in that core group that will come in later, and the goal overall is to explore a theme of "growing up", and how that's expressed differently through each of the five as well as the villain.
>>57142457Get a general outline written up over places and major plot points to go through, and plot it up like you would a D&D adventure is how I'm doing it.
>>57135240How do you turn a person into a slave? No mind control shit, and minimal drugging if at all. How do you take a proud human being, with aspirations and experience and people that love them, and turn them into an object? How do you strip the resistance from them?Do you think pokehumans have an edge in 'breaking' people, since their society focuses so much on the husbandry of intelligent, powerful beings? That owning and directing humanoid Pokemon has blurred the moral lines of slavery, and made the practice more acceptable in their ancient history?
>>57144531Domination, blackmail, or sadomasochism
>>57144651Domination in what way, just beating them until they do everything you say? How do you go from putting chains on someone to having them turn into cattle?
>>57144780>Domination in what way, just beating them until they do everything you say?yeh>How do you go from putting chains on someone to having them turn into cattle?I'm not sure what you mean by 'cattle'. Eventually they'll get tired and lose resistance. They'll have no choice but to listen to your commands. They might even develop stockholm syndrome. Or at least make the best of a hopeless situation by not hurting themselves in retaliation. As long as what you offer them is better than being disciplined, they'll listen. They have to. Then when you crush their pride, you can be sweet to them. Give them treats, sex, compliments, whatever. They may lighten up and accept their new lifestyle, but deep inside they know they aren't allowed to leave you or disobey. You may even give them back some independence but they'll never truly be free. It's not hypnosis but still heavy psychology involved.
>>57144531IRL slavery usually takes the form of, "come to this place and do manual labor" for men and classic prostitution for women. Usually it's presented as an opportunity to go to a "wealthier" place and have opportunities for a job, and maybe it'll be kind of an unpleasant job initially but you only have to put in your time and then you'll be free to go do whatever with your newfound wealth. Except the wealth doesn't ever come and it turns out that an illegal immigrant who doesn't speak the local language has basically zero chance of a having a place in society, so they're left with the option to either be a homeless bum who maybe ends up in prison or dead... or keep working for the people they already know. It's the fear of losing the tiny amount of "freedom" they have that keeps them from realizing their true status as a slave.So... just a slightly faster form of capitalism, really.Anyway in a world with psychic monsters and clarketech medicine (either from animals or just made in a lab by one of the many morally bankrupt scientific organizations) why would you rule those out as options? Seems like a waste to me.
Any stories about a Zoroark trying to blend in human society?

>>57145332So the good ol' fashioned carrot and the stick, but you keep them locked up in a cage, got it. Do you have more particular examples off the top of your head? More along the lines of what an ancient/medieval kingdom would do, instead of something modern >>57145935>why would you rule out those options It's just too easy. Takes away the focus from the breaking and dimming of the soul
>>57146798Google serfdom. If you want more examples of slavery-but-not-quite, history is full of em. Just think of any historical nation that piques your interest and check how they treated their peasants. Ancient china, persia, and japan, are good looks, as well as how colonialism(both british and otherwise) treated their colonies.
>>57139046Depends on who you want them from.
>>57144531Isolate them, leave them in dark cells to brood for days at a time, and be the only human contact they speak briefly to for weeks. They'll desperately latch to you as their only human contact, and will crave your attention like a drug. Humans are social creatures at our core, we CANNOT go for long periods of time by ourselves.
Where are the pokemon MCs/SIs that aren't PMD?And no, Zorua's illusioning themselves as humans or anything like that don't count.
>>57147888Reading about a Pokemons POV in trainerworld is like reading through a captive Aztec's account of the Spanish Conquista
How big is a regulation battle court for your stories? Are there limits on height up or down 'mon can go? What about environments suited for water pokemon? And what copypastas exist in some form in the pokemon world?
What Region would you say is the strongest based on their average trainer level? The level of their common trainers, not their gym leaders, champions or MCs. The one region that in a war would have the best rank and file.
>>57149592Honestly, Unova or Orre. If Blueberry is a sign of how their elite plan their strats, and Unova is where triples and rotations came into play first, they've got a nasty edge over single battle focused regions with already being planning for more than one 'mon.
>>57149592Regions in later games are weighted more heavily due to power creep and availability of more pokemon and more items. The answer is probably Paldea.In-universe, Unova is kind of themed as "the place where lots of people with lots of ideas and different worldviews come together." A place like that where all the good and bad ideas can be tested against each other tends to weed out the weaker strategies and weaker people. There's a reason why people unironically say about NYC, "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere." So the answer is Unova.
>>57149766Paldea is weak as shit, though. Weak gyms, weak E4, weak Champ. I'm not talking about in-game levels, I'm talking strategizing levels. Even Kalos would probably fare better, since at least they have horde battles. Building on >>57149709 , I'd say of the regions it's Unova > Kalos = Hoenn = Alola > Sinnoh = Kanto = Johto > Galar = Paldea = KitakamiGalar and Paldea are kinda fucked because their gimmicks are mostly locked to their land., though I'll give them credit for Hammerlocke and Montenevera. The rest also have more opportunity to develop strategic depth, and less restrictions on what 'mon the trainers would be used to.
>>57149592In my autistic worldbuilding set after the events of the games I've actually already ranked them1. Paldea - The new Top Champion Juliana reignited passion for battling region-wide, and with her wife Nemona as the new Head of Battle Studies worked tirelessly to make Naranja Academy the foremost institute of learning on Pokémon battles in the world.2. Galar - While the region mourned the loss of its Invincible Champion Leon, he was succeeded by an era of fierce competition between Gloria, Hop, Marnie and Bede, with the championship never belonging to anyone for longer than a season of the Galar Cup. The League Challenge is more popular than ever as their deadlocked battles inspire greater participation in the Gym Challenge than ever, as well as more trainers on average clearing more Gyms before ending their run at the title.3. Unova - Formerly on top of the world, the melting pot of the Pokémon world still possesses a wide variety of elite trainers from a berth of origins, and Blueberry Academy has not diminished in quality; the competition has simply seen a surge. Director Cyrano has begun conducting inter-regional tournaments between BB Academy and various sister schools in other regions to offer students a wider array of opponents as learning opportunities in battle courses.4. Hoenn - The Battle Frontier has grown in popularity year after year for well over a decade, and with increased participation, the residents of the Hoenn region boast increased knowledge on Pokémon. It's rare to find a trainer these days who can't boast at least a few participant rewards from the facilities there.5. Sinnoh - Once a hotbed for trainer activity, the surge of Trainer pride in their esteemed Champion Cynthia waned with her retirement to pursue archeology full time. Though their Elite Four remain among the toughest in the world, participation in the League Challenge has dropped.
>>571500056. Kalos - Mega evolution never quite caught on as a worldwide strategy; the Kalosian style of battling is seen as somewhat obsolete by many, although casual battling by non-League trainers is more common here than in most regions.7. Alola - Being the entry point of Ultra Beasts into the world, and where Z-moves originate, many Alolan trainers have natural edges in battle, although its League is still the second-youngest and is in the process of nurturing the spirit of competition among its trainers.8. Kanto - Barring a few exceptional prodigies, Kanto is not a unique region for producing trainers of note. It's been argued most of the region's greatest battlers either belonged to or were taken out by the now-defunct Team Rocket, and the talent pool has never recovered. The sitting Champion being a relative greenhorn does little to help public opinion on this.9. Johto - Though the weakest overall, Johto's average trainer strength is increasing steadily now that it has formed a League with a Champion of their own separate from the Indigo Plateau. As a former Gym Leader, the new Champion knows from experience how to stir up the challenger's spirit, and has been exploiting various incentives to drive up League entries.10. Kitakami - lol, lmao even
>>57144531One of the way it works now is that the Triads recruit people who are not happy with their lot in life, promise them a chance to take a pinch of gold from the mountain across the sea, ship them across the ocean to work at a buffet or nail salon, etc.You "Keep their documents safe" (take away their identity papers when they arrive), "provide them housing" (control where they live), "find them a job" (control where they work), "create a support network for immigrants" (control their socialization opportunities, their healthcare, etc etc and make sure that they spend more than they make), and make sure that they only way for them to escape is to do illegal shit for your organization and become a sub-boss over their fellows. This is essentially a modern twist on most historical slavery, with the biggest real difference is that the people don't start as prisoners. Or you can start with prisoners from a legal system who are kept under lock and key in a boring and dangerous environment, surrounded by other offenders who may have been violent, and then you offer these people "points" towards their parole board if they work, and you pay them pennies on the dollar while they work because the principle remuneration is the parole board points or the opportunity to do something other than stare at fences and bars and bare walls all day.Triangle Trade Chattel Slavery was a bit different, because of the racial science of the "Age of Enlightenment" which was used to make manumission essentially impossible and also ensure that the children of slaves remained slaves. It's not that weird for one or the other to be true, but it was weird for both to be the case, at least in a system where the "slaves" aren't ritually unclean to interact with (including to boss around). This racial scientific position kinda was kickstarted when the slave traders figured out that the slave markets they were initially buying from were more of a meat market than anything else.
>>57149592Galar and Paldea both have least swathes of untamed, dangerous territory smack in the center of their region, which would raise the average trainer's skill level. Not only that, but they have to deal with terastelized and gigantified monsters routinely popping up and threatening their cities, something none of the other regions have ever experienced, and which would prevent them from getting rusty. Of the two, I'd give it to Galar, only because Leon's purpose as a Champion was to make Galar's trainers the strongest in the world, and because Galarians are obsessed with matches and battles, while Paldean culture prioritizes exploration, and the finding of treasure. But that's in fair, 1v1 combat. In actual war, I have no doubts Unovans would be the crazy war nuts that aim to kill, fight dirty, and are impossible to put down.
>>57149362In my stories, arenas vary according to the venue. Kinda like how in baseball some home runs must be longer than others. The typical would be a simple circle with a vertical limit according to the ceiling if there is one. I haven't needed to address extreme heights but I would consider using flight to simply force a stalemate would be judged a ring-out. A WIP story of mine does have going beneath the arena without it being part of a move as a ring-out. Fortunately I don't need to worry about Dig being used by the pokemon I've chosen to portray there, but I did mention diglett being in the area so I'll leave that to the readers' imaginations.I haven't released a story that deals much with water (though I do have an amphibious arena in the same WIP) but I guess that's really a decision about if you go by game rules and aquatic pokemon just kinda hydro-hover or can magic the ground as though it were water for Dive etc. or whatever your story is into.
>>57149592I'm not sure about the strongest but I'd confidently say Galar is the weakest.A circuit is full of nepotism and favoritism where to participate you must have connections. Everything about Galar actually discourages any real possible growth of its general trainer populace. And of the very few who are actually capable of joining in the circuit, we also know the great majority quits at the third gym. Literally more quitters than even Paldea.Dynamax is strong on paper but then you realize it's locked to Galar's landmass, locked to certain spots, the users are highly limited, and wild Dynamaxed Pokemon work against the Galarians more than anything else.>But that means Galarians are strong since they fend off Dynamaxed Pokemon all the time!Except that task is shown to be consistently be left up to the Gym Leaders and specially the Champion.A completely and utterly complacent and stagnant Region on a co-dependent relationship with its elite where any common and normal avenue of growth for a normal trainer is practically non-existent.
>>57135240Are there any heartwarming or wholesome series you would recommend? Something filled with happiness and optimism? The holidays are always tough on me and something warm to read through would be appreciated.
>>57150691>the only region where there’s actually a minor league gym circuit>the only region where battles are a core part of cultural identity >somehow this makes them the worst at battling‘Nobody gets past kabu’ was a testament to his strength, not the weakness of the challengers
>>57150850The original question was talking about the rank and file trainers though.>>the only region where there’s actually a minor league gym circuitCool. They've got eight more Gym Leader-tier trainer. So?>>the only region where battles are a core part of cultural identity Yes, as a showbiz spectacle circlejerk where only the 1% of the 1% of the 1% gets to participate and join in and 99% of the slots are filled in by the Gym Leaders + Champion anyway.Do you think literally all the brits are Beckham-tier just because brits love soccer? Or that all Japanese are Ichiro Suzuki-tier at baseball?>>somehow this makes them the worst at battlingWhen so few of trainer populace is actually battling and the system is not nurturing them at all despite it saying otherwise? And god knows how many trainers fail by the wayside just because they weren't lucky enough to be childhood friends with the champion's brother.>‘Nobody gets past kabu’ was a testament to his strength, not the weakness of the challengersMore like Kabu is actually just not that strong and it's just that the very few galarpotism circuit challengers are shitters in reality.Meanwhile in all other regions, except Paldea, a well known shitter region, there's a healthy flow of trainers through all levels of the circuit.
>>57150916>Meanwhile in all other regions, except Paldea, a well known shitter region, there's a healthy flow of trainers through all levels of the circuit. The fuck are you talking about? In Kanto nobody even knew who the Viridian gym leader WAS, it was so rare for anyone to challenge him. It's so infrequent for Clair to lose she throws a tantrum you beat her at all. Volkner has literally lost his will to battle because he's so sick of his challengers' shit.
>>57150850>‘Nobody gets past kabu’ was a testament to his strengthImagine ANY of your gym leaders losing to somebody who just got their first pokemon less than a day ago. If Galar's best have to use their full force against fresh trainers, well, they're cooked.
>>57150530Not unfair. I'm working on something with a couple of fliers, so height was a concern I was planning to take into account. I imagine most arenas would also have a material difference, too- turf or packed dirt for the more typical stadiums/tournament venue, or something more rubbery for spots where maintenance is less common? And of course, non-arena fights could be anywhere.
>put fic on hiatus to work on personal projects that I've been dragging on>have no motivation to work on personal projects and want to keep writing my ficDamn it.

What sort of horrible things could you guys commit with the sapient, magical, reality warping, friends we call pokemon?Pokedex entries and creative use of moves is encouraged. >>57152360It's literally identical. Nobody who writes Ash actually likes Ash (because nobody unironically likes Ash period), which is understandable, but that's no excuse for writing a completely different character (who, yes, is almost always an SI in spirit) and stapling Ash's name and face onto it. At least SI fics are honest about the kind of trash you're getting.

>>57152385>Nobody who writes Ash actually likes Ash (because nobody unironically likes Ash period)I really hate when people write their opinions as facts, it's just like faggots saying how nobody likes Superman because they aren't talking about him all the fucking time as Batman, I give you the fact that for some reason all the people using him don't even keep his core as a character tho, which I don't think it should be that hard.>>57152386>Blue Archive(You) Are a teacher there not a student
>>57152394I'm pretty sure his ability is Oblivious though.
Is Pokemon as a setting supposed to be pastoral/inaka-coded? Or have a whiff of what would be called solarpunk today? Or is that just an accident and the spirit of urbanism and a true Tokyo-ite runs through its veins? I always assumed that it was supposed to make you feel like "oh yeah, when I went to visit my family in the countryside in the summer of 1983 and spent the whole time fishing and catching bugs and buying candy and soda for pennies". Trying to figure out if I got the tone right you know?
>>57152408>>Blue Archive>(You) Are a teacher there not a studentMy fanfic is about competition between various school's Elite 4 and champion, not a harem series about a teacher building a harem of female students
>>57152504Most of the cast is 17-18, so they're legal
>>57152408>>57152504The best Blue Archive fics are the ones where the sensei doesn't develop any romantic feelings for his student and just does their job of teaching and raising the students. Courier in Kivotos, From Sky to Sea, and the Ciaphas Cain one are the best in this regard.I haven't read much of this concept for Pokemon, it seems pretty rare. There was one fic that dead now but it was about the post Sun and Moon Elio going to Galar, disguises himself as a normal tourist/trainer, and ends up mentoring Gloria. I'll read any suggestions where the main character is a mentor.
>>57152510Its illegal for teachers to develop relationship with their students.
>>57152645Not in Kivotos
>Most of the writing I did professionally was for smutty romance fics>Did lots of lemon on commission for acquaintances besides>Every paragraph is a struggle not to slip in anything lewd about the teenagers while they go on their Pokemon journey and innocent grow a romance between one anotherIt is the hardest thing I've ever done.
>>57152740Keep at it.
>>57144531>No mind control>No magic hentai drugsWell it depends, in the pokemon world human slavery would probably never exist as a practice and only be used in certain societies as a punishment for certain criminals.Using pokemon as slaves instead of humans is just far more cost effective, it's like asking if you would rather run 5000 miles or drive 5000 miles in a car.Making a proper slave out of a person and not just creating a slave that will rebel constantly is kinda hard without a slavery system already put in place. As another anon said controlling the person's living space, food, pride and social contact are the ingredients in making a slave but these are anime personalities that have iron wills, this matters more for women.Cynthia for example, a woman's worth as a slave is her appearance, you can't completely break Cynthia into a slave because that would damage the goods and would therefore be a waste of time/money.The easiest way to make her comply would be to torture her pokemon whenever she disobeys. But what could you even do with a Cynthia slave, send her to work as a high class whore? It all comes down to money. Any other reason is just torture porn and not anywhere close to reality, at that point just whip out the magic hentai drugs. Money is why slavery vanished from the western world and has been outsourced to Asia/Africa, it just wasn't profitably here anymore.
>>57144531You just have to admit it’s a fetish thing and stop trying to autistically justify it. Makes writing the setting easiert. Have done blatant fetishistic worldbuilding and writing before
>>57151932>From World Champion to Highschool Drama and letting himself be bullied to literally who highschoolers who've not even done half of what his Kanto self didI honestly don't know how someone can write this and not die from cringe. It's not even that hard to "fix" just make it a typical highschool fix where Ash has to go and do school first before the journey.
>>57153142>letting himself be bulliedIt would be basically just some guy trying to provoke Ash but he just ignores and instead roast him. Fortunately the childhood friend C shows up to stop things from getting worst.Ash would be like Jimmy from Legends Of Thunder who was probably based on a teenage version of Ash.
>>57153142You literally just need Delia to tell him>Dear, I know you love your hobo ways but that won't feed you so could you please finish school? There, and it doesn't even have to be a normal school, nor Pokémon because that would be even weirder, something like the Ranger Academy or maybe the Interpol's just to have a paper and make his mother happy.
Imagine living in the Pokemon world and instead of traveling through your region you decide to stay in a stupid school and study in which level do Krabby learn Bubble Beam
>>57152396>fanfic threadMost boards aren't centered around one franchise like ours so I doubt it. If you want to truly experience writefaggotry with 4chan I recommend checking out >>>/quest/
>>57153188If what you want is pic related then just use them
>>57149592Wouldn't this just be dependent on the overall strength of the Pokemon in the region? I'm sure it's probably Unova or Sinnoh give how power-crept those regions were for the time. I have not played gen 8 or 9 Or maybe it'd be Kanto given how it actually has that stigma attached to it.>>57150929Giovanni not being known makes no sense, it was clearly there from a video game perspective to hide the fact that the Team Rocket boss was also the final leader.
>>57153546Idk, in the anime he stayed in the dark half of his gym keeping his identity hidden. My headcanon has always been him being an important asset for national defense, being so close to the national border and Mt. Silver. I always figured if he was involved in the shadier aspects of the war he may still have a bounty on his head.
>>57153618Yeah and the anime is retarded we don't need you to tell us that.
>>57153618>in the animeI don't remember that, aren't you mixing things with adventures? Red thought he was just a random guy because nobody but Rocket members knew him personally
>>57153707Maybe? Idk. My memory isn't the best these days.
>>57153618You sure you're not confusing things with the box art? Or the game manual? Because I think that was how he was presented in those. In any case that still comes across as dumb.
Anyone got some recommendations for some genuinely good, finished, fics? A lot of the most liked fics on AO3 are just harem fics which I'm not interested in. Currently reading The Most Evil Trainer on SB which has been pretty fun so far
>>57154155>SBEww
>>57153015There's plenty of ways of torturing people without scarring them. Waterboarding, isolation tanks, binding them in uncomfortable positions, sleep deprivation, this kind of breaks the rules a bit but you could absolutely just grab a psychic and take a sledgehammer to their mind. I get what you mean for labor intensive tasks, but human beings make for the best house niggas—for one, their biology is actually designed to grab and interact with all your fine china and fragile indoors shit. Nothing wrong with a Gardevoir in a maid costume, but she also only has 3 fingers. Not the best at pouring tea.Yeah it's not as profitable as drilling oil, but I have no doubt there'd be a market for it. Wealthy collectors with no moral scruples might feel a little vexed their vast collection is missing Human. There's plenty of people who wouldn't mind having a sex slave around the house, too. Maybe you need skilled workers that are smarter than Pokemon for your illegal factory, who knows?Anyway, the easiest way to make the perfect sex slave is to simply amputate the limbs and make them completely reliant on you. Fucknugget Cynthia isn't going to be giving you shit when you refuse to spoonfeed her slop and she hasn't eaten in 3 days...although she has some really nice legs, so maybe she should keep them.
>>57153527A. Ash will not be friendless or anti social like all 4 of them.B. He will be known as a weirdo that move in on his own paces to do bizarre things and doesn't give a dam about social hierarchy in the school.C. He will be friends with social outcast in school at the beginning. Basically somebody more similar to Iori (Grand Blue) or Yamada ( Yamada The Seven Witches).
>>57154323>skilled workers>broken slavesIf you want torture porn just go onto sadpanda and type torture eng into the search bar anon. Or go write it yourself.
>>57154435Then write Iori or Yamada. If you're not writing Ash then don't pretend you're writing Ash.
>>57154204Quit your bitching. There's some good fics in there. If you're willing to dive into the dumpster that is.
>>57154435>Basically somebody more similar to fotm harem MC Just fucking use Zack from Final Fantasy and call it a day
>>57154438>erm ackshually people only do a good job if you pay them good wages and respect their human rights!!Anon...the only reason we do that is because the dirty poor people kept refusing to work. And also kept killing the based rich people. Thankfully, with the advent of Chinese and Indian ingenuity, we have developed the sweatshop model, which bypasses this problem. If you add suicide nets they won't even be able to kill themselves to escape their torment! They didn't even do that shit with the ancient slaves!
>>57151435Per the question I think.... Two threads ago, about being dropped somewhere with an ability including N-tier communication?A person with a few cooperative psychic types can get plenty of things going incredibly easy, ranging from espionage up. Personally, though, I'd go for more causing mild panic and surprise than horrible atrocities. Pic related, imagine just having a jar like that and what you can do if they're cooperative.
>>57154155Play the Dawn VN or the Cynthia VN. They're like fanfics, but with pictures and music.
>>57154596Factory workers are not skilled workers that can't be replaced by pokemon. You're only making yourself look retarded now slave-anon.
>Birds destroying plane engines is a somewhat regular problem irlHow the fuck would flying work in the pokemon world? Fuck no I'm not getting onto a plane that can be randomly hyperbeamed out the sky by an annoyed Pidgeot

>>57152370>>Serena of all peopleI actually wanted to use Dawn due to her co-protagonist status and strong dynamic with Ash but there are three reasons I am using Serena ---- 1. Serena is the only girl with a crush on Ash.-- 2. Its very easy to make Serena hotter than all the girls with her honey colour hair and tits as long as there is no bustier girl with beauty mark.-- 3. If Ash picks any other girls than Serena would be the only one that will get hurt which makes me feel pity for her.If only Yajima didn't tried to copy Naruto and handle Serena more like Dawn, Misty, May and Iris

>>57149362I actually went and compared regulation fields in several sports with a friend for some scale. An interesting fact she pointed out was that "gunfights in Rainbow Six Siege take place up to about ten metres". Double that to give the Trainers and Pokémon some reasonable breathing room. Then we looked up a few field regulations for scale:>baseball diamonds are 90 square feet, from base to base, while the pitcher's mound is 60ft (18m) from home plate (MLB)>apehoop courts are 94ft (28.65m) across (NBA)>FIFA recommends 105m (344.4ft) across × 68m (223.1ft) wide for divegrass fields>handegg fields measure 360ft (109.75 m) long × 160ft (48.8 m) wide (NFL)We reasoned that most maneuvering could take place across the width of the field instead of the length, and making the field wider would be a natural accommodation for double/triple/rotation battles anyway, so for leagues that use standard mechanics (i.e., no Megas, Tera, Dynamax) - Gens I-V, basically, 40 x 60m would be a safe bet. A league with Dynamaxing would probably not only require a divegrass field in size or more, but also some headsets / loudspeakers to project the trainers' commands if there's no alternative system to convey them (like how casino cheaters might use hidden implements to send touch signals to their accomplices at other tables). >spoilerThat's a good question. I'll have to come up with some of my own.

Eventually he becomes too addicted to Serena's tits and start sneaking onto her room to smoother his face on her tits.

>>57163972You're a stupid concept. The only mastermind with enough ambition AND restraint to pull off multiversal conquest is Giovanni. >>57165740>The handwriting was so tiny, you needed a magnifying glass to read it. For 37 days, the Marquis de Sade toiled to put his depraved words to paper, writing only in the evenings by candlelight in his Bastille prison cell so as not to risk being caught by his jailers. When he reached the end of one piece of paper, he would paste another piece below it, continually lengthening the manuscript. By the time he had completed the first draft of his shocking novel in the autumn of 1785, it ran to 157,000 words, the scroll of paper measuring just over 12m. At the top, it bore its now infamous title, Les 120 journées de Sodome, ou l’École du libertinage. His story of four wealthy libertines indulging the vilest of sexual fantasies would become one of the most controversial novels ever written>Four years later, in July 1789, the Bastille found itself at the epicentre of the French Revolution when insurgents stormed the Parisian prison. Days before, Sade had been transferred to an asylum for the insane, but his precious manuscript remained hidden in his cell and he never retrieved it. “Every day I shed tears of blood,” he wrote of the loss. Twenty-five years later he died, thinking it lost for ever. That's the story of the 120 Days of Sodom, one of the most vile and repulsive novels ever written, and by a fr*nchman of all people. You're telling me some pervert from the French Revolution had enough respect for his craft to write a full-length novel of his autistic and depraved fantasies in secret, while in jail, but you can't be assed to write on your phone, on a program that can instantly copy and send your writing to any device with an internet connection? >>57166864I shouldn't engage but I'm curious. Is killing a part of your typical, bog-standard vore fetish? And not only killing, but treating the act of murder so casually ('oh boy, that was a good meal'—followed by the horrific twitching and eventual stillness of the creature inside, stuff like that). I'll go out on a limb and say you're on the end that prefers doing the eating, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, are there people fantasizing about getting killed and digested? That's what seems surprising to me. There is no aftercare in death, and I imagine dissolving in stomach acids inside a cramped digestive tract isn't exactly painless. Where's the appeal in that?

>>57167136There should definitely be lots of explicit rape taking place, purely for the historical accuracy of the time period. Such primitive, miserable times those wretched souls lived in, far removed from the comparatively modern utopia we live in today. Alas, we should heed their acts of barbarism as a cautionary tale of what we too can become, should we abandon the modern-day values we've arrived at after eons of senseless, preventable atrocities. But yeah there should pretty much be a rape scene in every chapter, narrated in graphic detail if possible, to really highlight the bleakness of the era. Even the good guys should be doing some rape, why not? They're victims, in a way, of their godless backwards age, so it's like, the audience can sympathize with them, kind of. It should be equal is the point. You're gonna what, say only the bad guys were raping and the good guys didn't do it? That's dishonest—that's suspension of disbelief out the window when the whole point is to be accurate, everyone was raping each other back then. The men on the women, the pokemon on the males, the women on the pokemon, they had a whole different outlook so it probably didn't even affect them as bad and anyway it was the past so they just sucked it up and weren't fucking annoying about it afterwards. And I mean the whole point is to bring to light the monstrous actions we as human beings are capable of and have committed in the past, so it'd be disrespectful to try to erase or silence the experiences of the poor victims—they should get a big focus in the story, maybe mostly in tracking how far their pregnancies are coming along and their POV in slowly becoming meek and obedient sex slaves. I shudder to think of them lying in their cells, their expressions vacant and broken, leaking semen from every one of their orifices...truly the stuff of nightmares. These stories NEED to be told.
>>57167528erm akshually the Conquest world is pretty utopian, arguably even more so than the mainline timeline. Sure the technology is pretty beans but the society itself is really damned good. Most "warlords" have healthy ideals and a populace that loves them, and I think even the edgier warlords aren't shown to mistreat their people or pokemon.Even the "antagonist" of the game isn't doing anything insane. All he's doing is trying to contact Arceus so he can make the world even better.

>>57167528What
>>57167542I'm not sure what to tell you anon, that's a pretty standard abstraction employed by Gamefreak—out of the necessity of being a children's franchise—to conceal the unthinkable carnal sins that were committed daily in that sort of time period. It's not a stretch to say that a woman leaving her house and walking to the store on her own would more than likely end up getting raped, and possibly sold off into a life of captivity and erotic servitude. It's just how things were—odds were that if you didn't cross paths with an arrogant young master you'd get ambushed by a group of mountain bandits, or maybe stumble upon a pack of sex-starved houndooms, or become the sex shrine goddess of a remote village of emaciated old men. That was the reality for these people; is it not our duty as writers to accurately portray their unfiltered human experience? Should we not feel obligated to narrated these events without omission, and the heavy-handed censorship of the dark truth? We should not take the easy route and use these placeholders Gamefreak has put in place, hastily applied make-up on a wound far too ugly to conceal, but instead transform them into weightier, more rooted in reality. You would not argue the walking distance between cities in mainline pokemon games is LITERALLY in the seconds and the minutes, so you would agree that things shown to us in the overworld as players aren't indicative of the actual reality of the hard, solidly-defined pokemon world. These could range from anything like time required to travel, the true expenses of a journey, or even dialogue and the lore and culture of the world. Is it really such a stretch to imagine our protagonist could have a fifteen-year-old sex slave chained to his bedroom bed that he feeds gruel to and has sex with every day, and still be considered a good person of virtue, at least for the standards of the time?
>>57167644Degenerates like you would be the first thrown into a dress and raped by a big fat samurai with eccentric tastes.
>>57167617Some men look into the horizon and are struck by the urge to know what comes after, what lies beyond the trees, or the mountains or the river. Others are similarly moved, but by a need to possess and to conquer all their eyes lay claim to, and beyond. This is the drive that has erected empires, the mindset of the lion, surveying the vast and uncharted savannah, knowing everywhere he walks, he is King. You don't understand it because you are not a predator, anon, but a fat and placid sheep, destined to be conquered by your betters

>>57167872>crime boss of a two-country-spanning massive crime organization >had deeply infiltrated government, everyone was eating out of his hand >without meddling he would have captured Mewtwo, likely the bird trio, and ruled Kanto with an iron fist>a savant child prodigy randomly inserts himself into his plans through sheer coincidence and brings it all crashing downIf all his plans had come to fruition, he would have come to rule the world. With Mewtwo's help, he could have easily bagged several mythicals and weaker legendaries, and an army of Pokemon on that scale snowballs in power pretty quickly. He was held back by unfortunate circumstances.

Give me your Gen 1/2 Gym Leader job headcanon (since all the newer gym leaders seem to have jobs)
>>57168914Surge retired early from the military and now runs a Pokemon bootcamp of sorts. Most of the gym leaders receive most of their funding through trainers losing, like commissions.
>>57167097Hey there, advanced level vorefag with 2 decades of experience on the matter. And important part of understanding vore is that it's an umbrella term for a thousand different fetishes that all just happen to have something eating something else in common. Vore is the autism of fetishes, its not a slider of pred (eater) to prey (eaten) but a whole spectrum of wild shit. For example, when it comes to general fatal vore like your describing, its generally an advanced version of BDSM. The unpleasantness is part of the appeal, and thats just how some people are. You gotta remember that it's all fantasy so there is nobody actually dying, so any aftercare is still possible between two partners.
>>57167276Mass death for the greater good is usually just an excuse to take an easy way to solving a problem. That's why it's always villains who are doing it. They are usually just short sighted and have convinced themselves that their selfish shortcut to their goals is the best solution because they don't have the actual willpower and brain power to come up with actual solutions.Magma: need more land for people and pokemon? Make artificial floating islands. They already have proven humans can make and live on floating villages in hoenn and pokemon has the fantasy tech to do it.Aqua: a better to go full eco criminal and start blowing up facilities that create ocean pollution it would have done more for pokemonGalactic: Cyrus openly admits that his whole plan is secretly just a selfish desire to make a world that suits his autismFlare: Full on delusion centered around the world not being pure enough. Killing everybody was his only solution because actually making the world a better place would never be good enough. The other human villains arent as wide reaching as far as I understand and mostly fall into simple self serving goals or the same short sighted problem solving with less genocide.

>>57168914I think Leaders having jobs was just a Paldea thing. You know, to fit the whole school theme. You go to school to prepare you for growing up and finding a career ideally, so all the gym leaders explore the concept of having a job in a different way.Running a small mom and pop store, pursuing a craft based entirely on passion, managing an entire resturaunt, being an indie entertainer relying on your fans, putting up with a rough job with the condolence of being able to enjoy your time away from it, being the head of a large company, being a successful performer with a long career behind you, and being forced to retire from what you love because your health. If you were to do the same with other regions I'd say find the theme of that region and tie it back to that. Galar did it with sports, and I wouldnt be surprised if gen 10 had a theme for its gym leaders as well.
>>57168914>>57169675not to be a contrarian, but GF's been giving gym leaders jobs ever since gen 1; a majority of the gen 1 leaders pretty explicitly have(had) jobs, from surge in the military, erika's job in pokespe and ashnime if you count those(i don't, she seems like someone to dedicated her full attention to her gym), sabrina as an actor(although this came later in gen 5), koga as the head/representative of whatever ninja clan he hails from, blaine as a scholar/researcher in the same vein as prof. oak(albeit retired), and giovanni as... well, giovanni.as much as i dislike SV and SwSh though, i will say it does feel like giving leaders alternate things to do outside of simply being a gym leader is a nice way of making them a bit more memorable(gen 5 and 6 also did this with some jobs and hobbies, respectively), although i do think SV was a bit heavy-handed in its approach; these things should probably be additions onto gym leaders as characters, to give them more depth, not something so inherently linked to their role as big obstacle trainers to overcome.
>>57169908I skipped 5-7 so I can't speak for them, but most of your examples sorta has their job being a secondary trait. Like gym leader is their main role while any profession they might have is flavor added to them. Like Blaine and Surge are not actively doing their jobs and seem more retired, Sabrina's movie stuff isn't even happening in the same region as her gym, we don't really know what Koga does other than 'be' a ninja, and Giovanni is a special case as the main villain of the game and even then Mob Boss isn't something you put on a resume. But for Paldea them being Gym Leaders comes second to their actual profession and they almost all tie their entire gym challenges around their professions. Erika is a grass trainer, but Brassius is an artist who uses grass pokemon. It's a strong unifying theme for the region, like how Galar has a strong sports theme that all its gym leaders serve in their own ways.Honestly, I wouldnt mind seeing old regions given more proper cohesive theme. Despite their flaws the latest generations have benefited from better presentation.
>>57169628It is moreso that I hate staying with my parents' for the holidays.I feel better today and will try to begin my Pokestory today; it will be about a young socialite, (whose family runs an energy company) who needs to put his life together following the defeat and exposure of the Team Galactic.
I personally fucking hate the heavy focus on jobs and I feel like, so many other things lately, it makes the Pokemon secondary and makes the world feel all the more mundane and generic for it.
>>57171098>and makes the world feel all the more mundane and generic for it.Isn't that what Masuda wanted tho? Make that world similar to ours
>>57168914>HeadcanonErika has her own Tangela ramen restaurant (the ramen is not made of dead tangelas or anything, but just its detached vines noddles)the noodles are blue btw, which makes some people to freakout about that
Was there ever a reason given for why gen 3's legends solely appear in Hoenn mythology? Or why ultra wormholes are only in Alola?>>57171098I don't get why they don't usually have jobs that tie in with a leader's duties. A gym leader is supposed to be an expert in a type, right? It'd make sense for them to do something similar to what they'd be an expert in.
>>57171891Because that heavily limits the amount of possible job choices and as such limits the possible characters. And we currently live in the human character consoom era. There's still some hits, like Arven, cooking man, you can see the theming on his team but the great majority nowadays are total misses with zero relation between character, type and team.
I will have to say that, in some cases, jobs might be tied to most gym leaders, but players don't notice it most of the time (except for cases like flint and Surge, where they either have a full family to feed, or are retired from their main job)And, in Surge's case, i think the league placed him where he is because his main tactics was Shocking everyone (in both senses of the word) and then dealing with the consueqences, which makes him a perfect skill wall for other trainers,
I was just reading the mary sue fic A Hero in Time and felt offput by how all her pokemon were magically turning into alphas. Which I get, it's a power fantasy fic after all, but they didn't even try to justify it with a reason. It was simply happening. So, what causes a pokemon an alpha in your eyes? Is it a birth anomaly? A mutation/corruption in their aura of some sort? I know the actual lore reason they exist but that reason severely restricts their availability.
>>57172200To me, an Alpha Pokemon is simply the largest Pokémon of its species within the local ecosystem, directly or indirectly influencing the natural balance. Centuries ago, Alphas by default were fiercely territorial toward humans and violent, but as humans and Pokémon grow closer together worldwide that behavior is naturally selected against through generations. Alphas in the modern day have mostly lost the ferocious edge they were known for in the past, but their tremendous size can still manifest - and some more remote locations may still possess "True" Alphas
>>57172200>A mutation/corruption in their aura of some sort?If you wanted that, just use ultra energy or whatever to turn your Pokemon into a totem Pokemon.

A novelization of Moon that treats the game protagonist traits (nearly mute, always has a placid expression, accomplishes incredible feats ludicrously quickly, can use both Megas and Z-Moves, etc) as the insanity that they are. Includes the best rationalization I've ever read of why most randos only have two level 12 rattatas, which ties into how horrifying it is that the protagonist Catches 'em All. At least, that's the premise. It drifts into angst and chapter-long battles later, but the start is very good.
>>57172500I've read fics where Dark is just a blank spot for psychics. Their minds are disconnected from the great psychic web, telekinesis can't grab their bodies and they can't be teleported, they basically function as the antithesis to psychic phenomena.

>>57175600I'm not the anon you replied to, but I personally have a huge bias for short fiction. Pick up something, anything by Amy Hempel. Pay attention to the unusual metaphors she uses, the way she likes to meander and tell random anecdotes to make a point or observation about people, and why the intent of what people do isn't obvious at first glance. Her stories took me a while to get into but she's probably the one author I've stuck with from my college reading.
>>57175471I mean, schools are probably the reason why TRAPPED AND BETRAYED is so popular >Go to school>Get bullied>Defend yourself>????>You're expelled because self-defense gets you TRAPPED in the principal's office and BETRAYED by the system

>>57175516But they wouldn't be satisfied with it. People who wear masks never are. Hence why I'm here despite leading a "healthy" school life.>>57175678Oh absolutely. It's part of why school settings are so popular in the first place- they're so often written by bullied losers and they're almost always some power fantasy about a bullied loser magically becoming popular and then getting revenge on his bullies. The people who write these almost always have no idea how school life actually worked and it shows. Even the anon in this thread doesn't have a clue, because I genuinely can't imagine a world where the world champion pokemon trainer would get bullied, nor one where a top coordinator would allow that to happen to her crush. He's getting so caught up in his wish fulfillment that he didn't stop to think for even a moment if any of it made sense.
>>57175692>But they wouldn't be satisfied with it. People who wear masks never are.I'll concede that much, but the problem with using the word "popular" is that even if you didn't intend it to, it nearly always carries the connotation of meaning ULTRA popular, which I really don't think you were aiming for. Don't get me wrong I agree pretty much entirely with the point you're making, it's just that it's not going to be read that way with a word as loaded as "popular". Total outcast spergs aren't fit to write school settings, but neither are the ultra-happy people at the top of the pyramid.
>>57175710Ah, well I'm not the first anon in the reply chain so I'll blame him for that. His post really did scream "ultra popular" rather than something more realistic like being liked by most people in your class and constantly getting dragged into things you want no part of.
Alright, boys. I'm gonna start the new thread when we're on page 9. Suggestions for the thread question?
>>57175692He wants pic related and that's not happening unless it was a bigger plot, like hunting some Faller making a harem and altering the world order with his nutrition knowledge
>>57175730We should start adding a writing prompt in addition to the thread question
>>57175855If you do this I can donate a few to get started. I've got a list of some restrictive prompts (e.g., you may not say/use/describe x) I've been keeping in the back to help some friends practice their writing.
>>57175855>>57175873Sure. What are you suggestions?
>>57175963Write about a trauma or phobia that makes it a serious challenge for a character to achieve their profession (e.g., trainer, breeder, ranger, professor), but without using the words that directly describe the fear or object. Hard mode: you also can't write shit like "<character> thought that..." or "<character> was worried that..." -- spell out the concrete action and make the meaning self-evident.
>>57175981That's kind of fucking retarded, you're gonna get a lot of people talking circles and dragging description around something that could just be named and used to drive the plot forward. Character angst is already insufferable enough when you know what the thing they're moping about is
>>57176233You would be astounded to know how fucking bad people are at describing things or struggles just because they're allowed to use the obvious words. I've seen writers who seem to think it's fine to just describe traits like phobias as though they're picking them off a grocery shelf of tropes and then they don't fucking do anything with it. The idea is to get people to stop doing the writing equivalent of symbol drawing.

>>57172200Personally, if I were to include them I'd have multiple different possible ways a pokemon can be an Alpha. Would have it just be that more than one circumstances trigger a pokemon to develop into an alpha. Maybe some are born with a genetic disposition to it, maybe some scientists find a way to artificially induce alpha growth, maybe certain external factors like exposure to a certain kind of legendary pokemon's energy can trigger it or an extreme survival response to a dire situation. It could be potential for any pokemon, or only certain ones are born with the capability for it. I would honestly leave it a mystery with possibly some characters theorizing about it but I wouldn't come out and confirm the exact process. I like to keep scientists guessing and pulling their hair out with giving them partial clues but not the whole puzzle.
