Do people actually collect these coins?
I used to have one or two of these small ones as a kid.
I really dislike the new large plastic ones that come with some promos. I don't even know what to do with them, I just have them sitting in a jar.

Can someone combine the cards and create a version with nothing coveres?
>>
When do vaultx binders restock for fucks sake it's been months, are they scalping binders too now???
>>
>>57196200
Chinese card has the best of both worlds already.
>>
I've yet to learn the difference between "good" binders and cheap ones, and no one has ever been able to provide an explanation. And yes I've asked multiple times here with no reply.
I'm not talking about 3 ring binders, but equivalent cheap ones to vaultx or whatever brands, with strong pages and zippers. I don't think vaultx developed their own type of materials for use in binders and surely they use the same plastic as everyone else.
Please tell me why I'm wrong, I don't want to find out years down the line my cards are ruined. I'm genuinely curious about this

I've found card guardian to be comparable

Unless you're looking for the set themed ones vaultx does in which case F
>>
>>57196259
Card Guardian does indeed have the orange 12 pocket binder I was checking on VaultX, but they don't seem to ship outside of US
>>
>>57196345
https://www.amazon.com/Card-Guardian-Pocket-Premium-Trading/dp/B0BW79XCNQ I got mine from here before learning they had a website, though I dunno how amazon works outside the states
>>
>>57196248
Normally in your binder you are looking for:
1) no rings or at least rectangular rings with sheets that have some space between the holes and the pockets, to avoid card denting
2) zip to protect against dust
3) side loading to avoid losing cards if you keep the binder upside down (redundant if you keep the zip closed)
4) no shit-tier plastic for the pockets (pvc free) as it deteriorates and becomes yellow over time. In any case don't put naked cards into any binder, use at minimum pvc-free penny sleeves
5) solid materials for the cover without being low tier plastic/fake leather which become sticky or deteriorates over time

The most widely used ones such as Vault X, Card Guardian, etc. just happen to check all the above boxes while being the cheapest ones in the market.
>>
>>57195831
>Osaka's finest singleschad store
Where at?
>>
>>57196362
Thanks but form Amazon US I would spend 14$ shipping for a 28$ item despite having prime, additionally CG binders apparently have a known issue of slightly smaller pockets that fuck up penny sleeves, which are the ones I use as I don't like perfect fits.
I'll just wait for a new year's VX EU restock on my country's amazon, it can't be that far away.
>>
>>57196248
When I was looking into getting my first binders often the biggest differences were a lot of the cheaper no name amazon ones were moldy or often just not well put together. Like yeah the materials might be the same overall but cheaper ones don't seal the pages as securely so the slots perforate and the like.
There's another brand I was looking at that a friend reccommended [Fabmaker] that's on the lower end but they had some kind of production change where they got cheaper and shittier past like 2020 or so.
Another thing i've noticed is of all the brands I've looked at, Card Guardian were the only ones I saw anyone mention hold up to actually being comnpletely stuffed with sleeved cards with no issues closing/zipping. I personally leave the very front and very back pages empty but one thing i've noticed of a lot of cheaper brands where they keep the same generally universal dimensions but stuff more pages in there.

Don't really think the materials themselves are the issue, just whether or not they're put together by chinese kids yanno
>>
>>57196398
JK it was just the lowest listing I found for that set in NM condition. karateka_gamer on ebay, I checked other cards from them but they seem to be overpriced compared to other japanese shops, especially the giant ones such as cardster_tokyo.
If you are from EU anyway check cardmarket first, even the best japanese ebay shops with free shipping always have higher prices 99% of the time. From them I only buy new promos before they skyrocket, or the occasional discounted bundle such as those 3 starters.

rip, hopefully they come back around
I may have overprepared when i got back into collection and and splurged on a bunch of shit I probably don't need, genuine question why don't you like perfect fits?
The KMC condoms felt like a pain in the ass so I got those dragon shield self sealing kinds and I've been liking them for my FAs along with some generic opaque sleeves
I'm realizing it does feel like overkill for stuff I'm not gonna play with, debating fishing out the personal collection from their toploaders to just get them a normal binder
>>
the original shining card holos look much better in person i wish they revisited this holo foil type in the newer cards
>>
>>57196453
I sometimes take cards out of the binder and out of the sleeves to show/make photos/trade, and with perfect fits it's a pain, even if you are careful to avoid denting the card, it still ruins the sleeve itself much more easily than pennies, and when you put the card back you may have a scratched sleeve that makes the card seem scratched by proxy.
If you plan to keep them safe in toploaders at all times, then perfect fits are better.
>>
Do loose booster packs have worse odds of getting good cards than buying a booster box?
>>
>>57196623
if you're buying english then no it doesn't matter
>>
>>57196623
Any pack that you don't buy in person at a japanese pokemon center has been already weighted, xrayed, gammarayed, carbon-14 dated and any big hit has been teleported out of the pack with portal guns.

okay I see, thank you anons, that's great input
I always use penny sleeves with any binder as I feel the plastic may scratch the card, especially if dust gets into the pocket, so I think I'm covered on the pvc part since I use picrel
I'll have to keep an eye out for when I fill them to max, as well as the sealing over time. For now the materials seems alright and there's no mold or anything peeling or separating.
The pages are just like those double-sided single dragon shield black ones, which I've tried before and seem alright. Not sure what type of page that's called compared to the single transparent plastic ones, and they're side-loading too
I guess mine was put together by chinese teens instead of kids

Soft no. Technically there are no guaranteed odds on anything. However, booster boxes are loaded with a consecutive arrangement of packs from the production line, which tends to fall into a pattern that provides an average of 1 Gold/SIR per box. While it is absolutely not guaranteed and borders on superstition, a lot of people will assume that there's not another major hit after that high rarity is pulled from a box. If we're getting packs from a box at my local tourneys, it's very common for players to opt out to another set if one player pulls a big hit from the box, or to lean more towards a box that they know no one has gotten a good pull from.

Comparatively sleeved boosters are more of a true random. Each and every one is a completely random pack off the line, no patterns or statistics beyond the usual pullrates. On one occasion my buddy and I both pulled the exact same SIR in the same night from sleeved packs.

>bubbles imply artificial price pump and fake demand
lmao, you really think this is organic? There have been repeated and observable attempts to heavily pump the market since Temporal Forces, and suddenly a set releases with multiple cards that rapidly climb into the hundreds of dollars within the first week, FAR surpassing even Moonbreon at a comparable time. Booster boxes inflate to 200 dollars LITERALLY OVERNIGHT from release. It's the most manipulated it's ever been. Sellers are pumping prices on singles to ridiculous heights. More valuable singles incentives people to open more sealed. More products sales incentives scalpers and investors to scoop as much as they can. The fact that some collectors are stupid and desperate enough to actually pay the inflated prices set by scalpers doesn't make it any less artificial.

>>57198229
Your last sentence is more in line with what a "bubble" is. Artificial demand and pricing are not required. A bubble occurs when speculation causes buyers to push the price of an asset much higher than the asset's actual value. There isn't a good way to do this with pokemon cards. There isn't a great way to do it with stocks either but we can look at the total valuation in relation to the market cap and get a good idea. Pokemon is entirely speculative, so we have to look at the behaviors of participants to see if they're in line with a bubble. Are the behaviors we're seeing now sustainable? Will buyers continue to fight each other at Costco for pokemon cards? Will people keep paying $20k for "mystery boxes?" There is real demand, and people are paying the prices, but will they continue? I don't think so. Could be months, could be years. Eventually a large portion of the people that are in on the action will move on.
>>
>>57197034
Is this girl the new pumper? The last guy had black and yellow hair, think his name was hikaru like the chess player.
>>
>>57198346
moving on /=/ bubble popping though. i never said this will last forever. markets move. if things were a bubble rn then we'd have to see harsh crashes in short period of time following mass exodus of interest. that won't happen though, it will just slowly quiet down.

https://www.investopedia.com/articles/stocks/10/5-steps-of-a-bubble.asp
Just read this and read the whole thing. There isn't necessarily a requirement that the bubble burst "rapidly," whatever that means, just that prices return to be more in line with the fundamentals or even below them. The bear market from the dotcom bubble lasted like 3 years. But that aside, your justification for it not being a bubble is based only on your own hunch that prices will decline slowly. So fucking what? As the other poster said, people are paying 3x MSRP for a chance at a fucking Eevee with jewels floating around its head because they think prices will continue to rise and they can flip it for a modest profit. How the fuck is this not a bubble? Pokemon cards are like shitcoins at this point with people paying $10k for the waifu of the week card.

Always a cuck. Have fun getting exploited buying english set.
>>
Why are boosters in this game such garbage, it's like 5% cards people actually want and 95% filler. You can't even use the 95% for anything, unlike other games where you'll at least want playsets of stuff, and the worthwhile stuff makes up 50% of the booster.
>>
>>57200406
Yeah it's cancer. I miss when sets were around 100 cards.
>>
why don't these retards add server capacity

are japanese cards equivalent value to american ones?

For fuck sake, i wanted waifu stuff, skip. But at least it's not that bitch of Hops, fucking annoying "persona 3/4/5 annoying first male friend" archetype which Japan loves (to bully).

Is there a reason why we can't go back? TPCi have shown willingness to go back on things, like going from GX and Vs to half-arts again in EXs. And surely having these massive sets just makes things more difficult for them? I think most of us would welcome 100~ card sets again. We need less fucking secret rares too, I'm sick of having more secrets than regular cards in special sets now.

It's not even like they profit from artificial scarcity, unless it makes buyers even more rabid every time they become available again.
The only logical case would be if they're limiting them so they have production time but they'd have to be printing hundreds of millions for that to be an issue.

Was able to get the ETBs super easily. Decided to go back and get a booster box as well and the site crashed forever and once it came back up it was sold out. Cool, cool. You win some, and you lose some, all within literal minutes.

>>
>>57201034
Sealed collecting is the same as investing tbf. It's denial to say otherwise. What's there to enjoy about a sealed box? Most are waiting to be resold in 20+ years time for PROOOOFIT.

Nobody who collects sealed, collects sealed because they like the cards
>>
>>57200915
post the account name, i want to know what faggot listed it that high
>>
The pokemon center ETB is a blue chip. Its way cheaper than the booster box but it has a higher moon % because of the limited quantity making the stamped promo inside extremely rare.
>>
>>57201039
>Nobody who collects sealed, collects sealed because they like the cards
True. I originally wanted a sealed pack of each from BRS and FST, since I started with those sets, but I ended up opening all my packs eventually kek
>>
>>57200741
They must be out of their fucking mind if they think I'll pay that much. Around £40 or fuck off.
>>
>>57198346
>Eventually a large portion of the people that are in on the action will move on.
When the normal consumer gets burned throughout the rest of this year with the rocket and journey sets, we'll definitely see a massive drop in interest since at that point the only people left buying this shit is other scalpers and youtubers
>>
I had them in my cart and my payment info clicked buy and the fucking shit crashed. I feel so fucking cucked this is the worst.

IMO 151 will be the last straw. If millenormies can't get their hands on 10 slices of nostalgia cardboard for less than $10 they will say fuck it.
>>
>>57201039
The Japanese boxes make a cool display piece imo. The English ones looks like trash in comparison. Of course this excuse falls flat for people that buy cases of this shit and shove it in a closet for years.
>>
>>57201039
how much is this shit going to be worth really

its not going to be base set levels valuable so whats the point just buy nvda or bitcoin or something
>>
>>57201079
Doesn't matter. I can already sell for 4x MSRP. It's only going to go up
>>
I'm more pissed off at the Pokemon center not sending out Emails that they were going to be listing this shit today
