While Pocket is still on the rise, it has very aggressive pay to wins, and doing a Pity to get a card of your choice can take months. Maybe that will hold it back, and they'll make even more broken cards until the old ones become invalid.

In Masters, it's still easy to get a character by saving for a month or two, or only weeks if you have luck, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to play and even more pay to win, but it's still more friendly than other games.

Is there an "ideal" list of which skill feathers go on which gear? It's pretty straightforward for attackers and tanks but it's hard to guess on the others.

It doesn't matter. You'll end up with the same stat improvements regardless of which feathers you used.
What matters is that all the feather bonuses benefit your team. For example, if you want gear for a physical Dragon team with zone, you'll primarily want physical attack and Dragon zone bonuses for units with the Dragon theme. If you have feather dupes, you can use those on two different gear types and get the same bonuses twice.
