does anything change if this gets localized already in the early-mid 90s? or was final fantasy always destined to be THE jrpg for the western man
>>12026595probably doesnt change anything

Been thinking about this for a whileIn hindsight, would SH1 have been better with projectiles instead of the instant hitscan?
>>12026514>we can’t articulate good ideas because someone said something similar before
>>12026514>>12026542answer is yes
>>12026514It's the shitposter behind "my dad" and "elephant in the room" posting, also probably the one spamming RE threads a few weeks ago. Some discord group out there is really intent to flood /vr/ with low quality threads for some reason
>>12026542>>12026554
Garbage thread, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if Silent Hill was modeling projectiles behind the scenes and the ranges are just too short to really notice. It's a weird game with a lot of little undocumented or semi-documented quirks.
The "tate" mechanic wasn't too bad until the final boss. There are just instances in which the boss decides to cast a spell to be invulnerable or deflect your melee attacks that outright negates your efforts in building up your tate gauge and you're waiting around for more enemies to respawn so you aren't doing a pixels worth of damage. Generally a good game, but I can see why people drop Shinobi at the final boss. Hell, the train station boss in level 3 with the ninja dogs are harder than anything else up till the final boss.
>>12025336Very carefully.
>>12025336idk maybe they shouldnt make you hit it with a sword? however- its also a videogame. hitting it 300 times to kill it isnt fun. hitting it 5 times or 1 time to kill it is just as lame. this is where game design comes in. but its a moot point. there are countless organic living bosses and the helicopter and the tank are the exceptions. so why do you argue about the exception? how many bosses in this game are just some guy? if nothing else i think it wuld have been fun to have the katanas base damage value change depending on what you fight. that would make the 300 hits to kill the helicopter or the tank funny at least.
>>12025245>otherwise you would need to hit them like 300 timesOr just use ninpo, which is the fastest way to kill almost every single boss except the last one.
The Andrew Tate mechanic?

Metal Slug was much better before they added the playable coomerbait girls and the excessively wacky setpieces and enemies

>>12025468You made MS2 Turbo? I'm going to play it over Fightcade soon.
My problem with 3 is that they just put all the shit they had in mind without any type of quality control, that's why the game feels unnecessary long.
>>12025534Agreed. The game shits a steady stream of bullet sponges at you that you're ill-equipped to deal with except through mashing. With how much of that shit there is, it should be giving you gun pickups like candy.
How significant was the transition from Windows 98 to Windows XP for gaming? In what ways did it shape PC gaming, and do you have any personal experiences from upgrading that stand out?
>>12016995i just remember having a ton of issues with drivers, and older hardware just not working at all
>>12026546kek this actually happened once. I took a computer repair class during high school, and in one lesson we learned about several networking commands, including NET SEND. We had a self-contained network in that classroom that wasn't connected to the main school network so we could safely practice. Well, a few days after that, one of the dudes there got it in his mind to get on another computer elsewhere that WAS connected to the school network and NET SEND a message that simply said "Error". Predictably, every single teacher was calling up the school's IT about it. They traced it back to the specific computer and pretty easily determined who it was that got on that computer at that time. The guy got suspended, forced to stop taking that class, and IIRC was barred from taking the A+ certification exam at the end of the year.
>>12026573>The guy got suspended, forced to stop taking that class, and IIRC was barred from taking the A+ certification exam at the end of the year.ouch.I don't think the IT dept. at our school ever caught the student that abused NET SEND that one day (it wasn't me, honest!), but I do remember shortly afterwards most of the computers in the school (mainly in the labs) were equipped with remote monitoring software.
>>120169952000 was already having a fuckton of issues right out the gate for games that ran perfectly on 98. XP was worse.
>>12016995The advent of plug and play and full USB support was pretty revolutionary. It made cross platform ports a lot more possible, of higher quality and took a lot of the frustration out of upgrading and making games work that had been commonplace until that point. Those versions of Direct X were also pretty revolutionary in terms of how games graphics started to develop - though I remember there being a point when you needed a new Direct X version about every 2 or 3 months (when it wasn't normal for a new update every couple of weeks). In reality though, a lot of us only got XP if our dads upgraded the family PC. I was on 2000 till about 2003 and so got the version with more of the kinks ironed outAs others said, it was also pretty much a death blow for DOS gaming, which had sort of hung on a bit during the 95-98 period, with a few games still being hybrid 'DOS in Windows' at least until the millenium. For me, XP holds all the 16-18 year old gaming and computing memories - which as well as the introduction of DSL suddenly opened up quite a significant wide world of gaming, and of pirating stuff on Napster, Kazaa, Limewire, DC++ etc. It's hard to be honest to seperate out XP in itself for what was a massive explosion in internet culture, with lots more activities on forums, the early days of torrents, MSN Messenger, and Porn suddenly being a lot more accessible. For me, XP is pretty much the Gen X/Millenial/Gen Z switch point - it's what began to define a lot of current internet culture as we know it.

>>12023151I remember that. IIRC he said his parents were pretty young and they were already having issues but the game was basicallg the last straw. Crazy to think two people can create a little child together and want to abandon that family unit one day, and I'm sure the game wasn't the main factor but just ended up being a further source of stress during the few times where they were supposed to be relaxing and not arguing over petty shit. I hope that guy is doing alright and has/finds a nice wife of his own to have kids with so he can end the cycle and have a happy life.
>>12022521i get what you mean but this is almost the opposite of the situation with TP because in that case the next gen version came out first and was shit compared to the last gen version

Which is supreme to you? MK2 basically perfected the original game with the same gameplay tightened up and with an expanded roster. UMK3 took the gameplay and made it more hyper with running and long sequenced combos
>>12025813mk trilogy lets you disable running/dial-a-combo, basically making it a huge roster mk2

man the more i play of trilogy the more fucked up it feels compared to umk3stages have the wrong songs AND they play slower for some reason.songs no longer have the "endings" that play on round end.fatalities don't have the second part of the chime that plays after the kill is done

>>12025553>this professional comedian's TV show is JUST LIKE my youtube/twitch e-celebs because they both play videogames and talk about the games! The difference between Arino and your e-celebs is Arino isn't getting paid because you watch GCCX, he gets paid from the production company that is getting paid by the TV channel in Japan that airs GCCX and their sponsors. Unless you live in Japan and watch the show live, or directly buy merch, he isn't profiting from you. E-celebs get paid more the more viewers they have watching ads on their videos/streams. Due to the ad profits, talking about e-celebs is effectively advertising for them. Talking about GCCX makes about as much profit for GCCX as talking about the 90's Super Mario Bros movie makes for Nintendo. That's why GCCX threads are allowed on /vr/ and /v/, and e-celebs are not.
Please...forget about the movie
>>12026218>this kind of advertising is allowed but THIS one isn't because...because it just isnt okay!!!more contrived hypocritical weeb faggot logic. again, i wouldn't have a problem with this but you fucking faggots are always disingenuous with your argumentsyou will never be Japanese.
>>12026529The actual difference is that he was doing all of this 4 years before the first video let's play was even uploaded and that show played a huge part in keeping interest in retro games alive. This is something you could've looked up yourself if you weren't a fucking idiot, but let me know if you need me to baby bird anymore extremely simple pieces of information to you.
