This game sucks. It came out a year after Type 4, yet it's got none of the style, has only three real tracks with slight variants and the drifting feels terrible. Even the music is bland and unmemorable. What were they thinking?
>>
that's american outsourced devs for you
it even has a desert racetrack which is the last thing you want to see in an RR game

90% sure this is the schizo i was arguing with in the T4 thread. the gameplay, handling, drifting, sense of speed all feel way better than any of the other Ridge Racer's of the era to me. Only 3 tracks but they milk the hell out of them with alternate routes for every rank. oh and the music is S tier

It feels like a game that could have been released a few years earlier. Because it was released around the same time as RRV on the PS2. I guess NOA wanted a Ridge Racer game on the N64 that badly, that they were willing to hand off development to NST. For what it was. I had a copy of the game. It sits alongside WipeOut 64 and Resident Evil 2 as N64-ified PS1 games.
Yup, it was a combination of Ridge Racer and Rive Racer Revolution, with some exclusive NST content. It did take Reiko From RRT4 and a few car designs. Four Player split screen is pretty cool.

How? It's just a copy of RR1/Revolution. Elaborate.

what you want me to repost what you just quoted? if you don't understand what i'm saying why not just play the game and find out for yourself?

works just fine for me. Maybe you need to git gud

More tracks puts it above revolution and 1
>>
>>11497630
Elaborate on why do you find these aspects better than in other games. I am not a mind reader. "It is better because it is" is not an argument, you only do a game a disservice with this.

>>11497650
is there some magic combination of words that will convince you that I'm right? just play the fucking game you sperg

Your "trust me bro" sounds like you haven't played RR64 yourself and just shitpost about it. It shouldn't be hard to express what makes you prefer one game over another. For example:
"I like RRV more than the ps1 installments because it runs at 60 fps, the cars have more weight which makes driving feel more realistic, and it features my favorite cars like EO, Mercurio and Rumeur". Not that hard.
>>
>>11497727
i've already told you what i like about it. expanding on what i've already said with surface level observations like "the cars have more weight which makes driving feel more realistic" like you're suggesting isn't going to change your mind. you're just being a miserable cunt because you don't like my opinion. i'll say it again, RR64 plays better than any other Ridge Racer of it's generation. feel free to disagree, although again, i'm positive you haven't even played RR64 and this is just console war autism on your end.
>>
>>11497727
He is obviously falseflagging.
>>
>>11497739
If you can't articulate what makes you think that RR64 plays better than other RR titles then your word ain't worth shit and you're the one console warring.
>>
>>11497741
lmao convincing you whether the game is good or not is not my be all and end all. i'm not interested in having some extended argument over minute details between the games. i simply stated my opinion and you've been sperging at me for the past few days. again, if you don't like the game, i don't really give a fuck. it really does seem like you've never played it though, and i'm guessing if you weren't such a console warrior faggot you'd actually just give it a try. it is just a video game after all
>>
>>11497739
>my opinion.
It's not even an opinion, just a baseless take.
>>
>>11497748
>baseless
it's based on my experience playing the game, which is more than you can say, you autistic retard
>>
>>11497746
>i'm not interested
Stop posting then
>you've been sperging at me for the past few days. again
I don't remember you
>if you don't like the game
Never said that
>console warrior faggot
Where was I console warring again? Examples
>just give it a try
Played it on release
>>
>>11497750
Anon, you are uncapable of having an actual discussion. Even my 6 y.o. can make a better argument than "It is the best because I played it and you didn't".
>>
>>11497496

i heard it's better with a wheel. right?

>i'm not interested in having some extended argument over minute details between the games
is what i actually said
>I don't remember you
you're bad at this
>Never said that
you're awfully upset by my opinion
>Where was I console warring again? Examples
i'm not doing homework for someone arguing in bad faith. i could give a fuck about the console that RR64 came out on, i highly suspect you can't say the same thing
>Played it on release
cool. if you simply don't care for it, why are you being so whiny and argumentative? you clearly have some axe to grind. if you told me your favourite RR game i wouldn't be hounding you with demands about describing in detail why you think your game is better than mine. i wouldn't give a fuck
>>
>>11497763
probably but it played just fine with the regular N64 controller
>>
>>11497758
i don't owe you a detailed explanation of anything. i've said the things i like about the game. that's as much detail as i care to describe. if there's something you'd like to add to the discussion feel free, although i highly doubt you will
>>
>>11497764
Really how old are you? You've made a statement about RR64 having the best gameplay but refuse to elaborate and when being asked you accuse people of hating on RR64, on N64 and yourself personally. Asking about details is not hate it is the minimum level of discussion. Are you so much insecure about sharing your thoughts about the game that any kind of argument makes you shake and cry about haters like a soft libtard who got out of his online echo chamber and met real people for the first time? Where do you think you are? Either discuss the games or go away.
As for me, I have no prejudice against RR64 whatsoever, I am interested in hearing about what makes it a favorite for others. When I played it I saw a RR1/Revolution combo. I genuinely would like to know if I have missed anything.
>>
>>11497778
so you're either schizo OP pretending to be someone else, or you're a literal retard replying to a chain between two different people and acting confused when you're getting called out on shit that someone else did. either way you're a fucking retard
>>
>>11497783
I started talking to you with >>11497621
It's not hard to follow. I really have no idea why do you bring RR64 up if you don't really want to discuss it. Considering how much ps1/n64 console warring is here, your posts look like falseflagging in order to make RR64 and its fans look bad.
Here's a good elaboration on Rage Racer from the other thread from an anon who clearly likes it and doesn't act out of bad faith >>11496816 Rage Racer is far from my favorite but I see the point.
>>
>>11497791
>I really have no idea why do you bring RR64 up
uh, i didn't. i'm replying in an RR64 thread.
>>11497794
okay, so if that's the kind of detailed explanation that you're looking for i honestly don't think about it that much. like i said RR64 handles better than any other game RR game i've played from that gen. i don't have some deep analysis to argue over with you. it's a fucking racing game. play it. or don't. whatever
>>
>>11497763
I use my logitech with simple64, controls great
>>
>>11497804
>RR64 handles better
This is what I've been asking. From what I've seen myself it is not different from RR1 and Revolution and I really would like to know if there is anything different that I haven't noticed. Maybe since you don't know yourself, someone else would chime in. There's at least one more RR64 player here, considering the N64 wheel discussion.
>>
>>11497391
This game really does feel like eurojank, however on the bright side this was basically RR1 and RRR and a pinch of RRT4 remixed into one weird package. This game is also notoriously difficult toward the very end.
>>
>>11497837
You can choose the driving model in the options
>>
>>11497839
the final track and the reverse version are so fucking good. crazy hard but so much fun
>>
>>11497837
Nta but it's not better just more ridge racer which is always great. Presentation is mid compared Namco made games and 2000 release is late but the game is still enjoyable.
>>
>>11497391
OP is right this game fucking sucks

For me it's Rave Racer because it was the real arcade RR sequel which had proper force feedback and H-shifter support. Not to mention it had drafting mechanic, cool mountain touge track where you could fall off a cliff, and an actually usable chase camera, unlike home RR from that era which are only playable with a bumper cam. And all that in 1995, even before Revolution was released.

If the SNES had never gotten the mainline Final Fantasies, those going to the Genesis instead, and the sole FF on SNES had been Mystic Quest, people on /vr/ now would defend it as the best game in the series

>>11497391
Type 4 sucks. All style no substance, completionist autism doesn't help either. RR64 has fantastic handling and is arguably one of the most challenging prior to the modern games.

Style IS substance you nignog
>>

ridge racer 1 has a single track and its still a classic
