>>3659856noits possibly good on builds that do high single-target damage as a way to do even more damage with one attack (snipe, aimed shot, impale, super slam, etc)but for that you'd need to have the cost be low, via tranquility or premedyou can break rocks with it by casting implosion then recurrance

Why is Biocorp's logo the best kept secret of Underrail?
>>3659868It's only a scam once you realise you can steal other jetskis. But you can't steal them without having your own to get there. Think of it as an investment.
>>3659887Persuasion is basically a story only skill, intimidation can get very funny with a TC knife build. Plus you can use yell to flush out crawlers.

Do shotgun builds work well? I've never used them as my main weapon before. Besides the usual TM crutch would any other psi skill work well with shotguns?
>>3660262PK + premed is always a good combo for guns, means you can make a chokepoint or put out stuns/rooted and enable Opportunist. If you're not using it for direct damage it's a very cheap school to splash in.

>>3660262Shotguns are solid. They have a lot of built in armor pen, letting you kill things like industrial bots easily even without special ammo and leading shot lets you ignore most of the target's evasion. Just make sure you have a lot of mobility so you can run into the effective range of the shotgun and get out. Sprint, hit and run, tabis etc.

>>3660281Yes. Altough I hope you got some stealth
With armor slopping fully specced, nimble and bodyweight training you can get 0% armor penalty super steel armor. Is it worth it?
>>3660309NEVER.
>>3660327There are problems with this approach which all lead to the same conclusion, it all just comes too late. By the time you can acquire enough feats levels or resources to craft the mobile can your character is likely so strong they can handle anything anyway. Super steel armor to me always felt like you're already winning but you want to win harder and not an actual viable solution to anything.
>>3660327Nimble+bodyweight training is 25% so I assume you're trying to make your supersteel armor with <50% base ap? If so then it seems counterproductive. You dont get a bonus from juggernaut, you cant max out your armor plates for maximum protection and you cant wear metal boots if you want to stay at 0% ap.For example this is from my nimble can, I have exactly 50 MP without buffs (but with drifter tatoo) and 40% AP. No bodyweight traning either. I wouldnt want to give up any armor protection and especially one of the veteran feats for a few more movement points.

>>3660505Tungsten is just straight up a better material.
>>3660505Regular steel is almost always the worst option for melee. If you have a crit build you'd rather have more crit multiplier, knife and fast sledge both like tichrome, super steel is just flat out better.
For the longest time I had it in my head the reason tungsten slugs stun is because they concuss, as in you hit someone in the head with it and they just get a concussion, rather than it just hits their armor or what have you so hard that they have the wind knocked out of them
I'm interested in giving Styg some feedback, what are some racial slurs I could call him?
>>3660608They do always hit enemies in the head. They also hit them in the chest and feet at the same time, just like every other attack.Underrail is weird when you think about it.

Tranquility or Psychosis?
>>3660740it's a shame the game punishes being a switch-hitter. Being able to pull a knife to stab a dude that gets too close would be ludokino, but instead you're better off just shooting the guy with the guy you specialized in
>>3660741Psychosis, no question. There's no reason to cast 20 times in 1 turn when you can pop Mania and clear a room in 1 cast.
>>3660742Versatility >>3660743What happens when you can't end combat in one turn?
>>3660748You've still got all your other toys, you just want hemopsychosis because you're going to burn psi fast.Alpha strike is what the game is all about. Tranquility is like pre-buff miniguns, comes out on top over a long enough period of time but combat is never going to last that long.
>>3660748>VersatilityAnyone got any good (well, decent) builds with versatility that actually make use of more than one weapon?
>>3660760desu, no. But I did a versatility build just for the lemurian spear. it was not worth it but it was fun
>>3660760There is a funny build where you go balls deep into versatility, max dexterity and go pistols with 3 PER. You put points into melee and 90% of melee skill gets converted to guns and it ends up dealing more damage with pistols than if you were to do some dex/per split.Nobody uses a melee weapon with that build but you could if you really wanted to.
>>3660749While you're generally right, there are exceptions. The numbers and terrain of places like Apogee and some native bosses make a first turn victory impossible
>>3660763Yeah, that's what I thought>>3660766>dealing more damage with pistols than if you were to do some dex/per split.that's exactly the build I was thinking were versatility just being used to buff one weapon instead of using two freely.you can use the knife but just shooting the pistol in melee range is more effective
>>3660760Stick versatility and cooked shot on a crossbow build, bring an acid pistol, now you've got a fast, on the go way of setting up deadly snares.>>3660767I agree, but I didn't mean that past turn 1 tranquility is better. Another difference is that a tranq build can't afford to lose HP and isn't using hemopsychosis, while a psychosis build can cast as normal and actually use its HP bar.If it does go on for a longer while then yes, tranquility is better.

As someone who only uses tact vests, someone explain metal armor to me
Does anyone ever actually take that body horror feat from the health center quest and not just kill the robot or resist if you got the will?
>>3660379Huh? Armor slopped ss armor is 29%. 2 spec points brings it down to 25%, enough so nimble and bw brings it to 0
>>3660965Why not? Resolve doesn't matter, crit does.
>>3660962At the high end you can be hit with a sniper's aimed shot and actually survive instead of being turned into tomato paste. Metal armor is only good when you get to mitigation cap otherwise it's kind of underwhelming.
>>3660962Not all enemies use guns.
>>3660962Unless you want tac vests for the psi bonus, its as good as wearing nothing for a lot of encounters (melee, crossbows or even just aimed shots with something other than 5mm)Its still good early game since metal armor of low to medium quality is pretty much useless
>>3660994What about riot gear?
>>3661057I feel like majority of playerbase doesn't like it but I do. The most interesting part of riot gear is the fact that mechanical resistance(%) against melee is doubled, so here I had this crafted out high quality supersteel and death stalkers on dominating can at best scratch me wearing this and my dude only has 4 con.
>>3661057Riot gear is good extremely early since it gets a free +2 DT compared to tactical and there are a lot of melee enemies early on.Past that it becomes incredibly specialised. Good against Carnifex, good against locusts/spiders, that's it. It's still useful sometimes but those times are very rare. You should normally be wearing something else.
>>3661057I like how it looks.
>>3661097>>3661067>>3661065Is there a general guide on armor? My two playthroughs so far have both been psi with a psi beetle tactical vest and I don't know what else to use know I'm doing melee
>>3661128If you want high mobility and have high strength then use sloped super steel metal for pretty good DR and low penalty. If you want high mobility and have low strength then use infused hopper/pig/rathound, depending on if you want even more move points/hp/crit chance. You can use siphoner if you really want but the enemy will always have a small chance to hit you no matter how high your evasion is, so being shot at it always a risk.If you don't care about mobility go full tungsten and be nearly immune to mechanical.Tactical vest has no strength requirement and can make you nearly immune to any bullets not fired by sniper rifles, but you already knew that. There are some other meme options if you want and there are times when specific gear is appropriate (acid resist when in mutant territory, bio resist in mushroom forest, and so on), but that's for general purpose.
>>3661128I don't think there's a guide but most builds tends to have two sets of armor, one for stealth and one for general purpose. You really don't need any more than that unless you want to, for example some people on dominating craft a 100% electric resistance gear for coil spiders or those dungeons with floor that zaps you and you can just completely ignore mechanics with a full electric set.Aside from that almost every build can benefit from>rathound regalia +1 str 0% armor penalty>power fist +1 str>infused leather pig boots +30 carry capacity>large waist pack +50 carry capacity>lifting belt -5% mechanical resistance>night vision detection goggles>cloaking field>taser>food buff of every kindA lot of people ignore food, things like root soda or cooked bat make a bigger difference than people give them credit and things like +1 main stat are just obvious.
>>3661128I guess you can browse the wiki to check what different armors do.Infused leather armors have some special effects, for example infused rathound grants ~10% crit chance for weapons (not psi), siphoner armor has a lot of dodge and evasion. Some unique armors are useful too, JKK jacket has initiative, rathound regalia has movespeed.
>>3660111The compass being enabled completes this image.
>>3661137It's too easy to forget about food. Lasts too long to be on your mind, but too short that having to pay attention to it is just annoying. Maybe if we could use that thing the AI has where they just auto-consume food. Tag a stack or something.
>>3661172Zone transition if not in combat and not in stealth if tagged food and not food consume tagged food.
Is the Stunner too OP to be fun?
>>3661057riot gear is really underrated imo, helps neutralize some of the most annoying enemies in the game and not to mention it looks kewl

>>3661128certain mp bonuses ignore armor penalty, like sprint or contractionfurthermore, if you have such a bonus active, then the feat Hit and Run will refund those ap-ignoring mps, allowing you to potentially move a lot even with max armor penalty

Like no one ever maxes the crafting skills or lockpicking or traps, everyone only goes up to 70 time magic, etc.Or if lacking that specific info, some place to find the most OP builds so I can see what they do with their skill points and feats and then use them as guidelines for max skill levels or something

Is there any way to have lots of movement points and also be tough enough to take hits or are you stuck doing one or the other ?
>>3661291Depends on your definition of "lots"If you want to be able to run to the opposite side of the map and hide behind a corner you have to go balls deep on MP and have 0 armor pentalty with rathound regalia plus tm plus drugs.Dodge builds can be mobile too and they can be very tough on average if you absolutely max it out, but its rng dependant. A tin can always protects you, dodge will sometimes just not work and you'll have to F9
>>3661294Basically I want to be able to actually peek around corners and walk back without needing to sprint every time.My current build is a LMG tin can and it's kinda unfun to have zero movement without sprint even if I win every fight without really moving out of my starting spot
>>3661295You can do a nimble tin can and thats more than enough MP for repositioning. You can have 40-50 MP without buffs/sprint/contraction and with those things you can really zoom around. Its a significant investment though - 2 feats and 2 spec points, not to mention the absolute fuckload of money needed for full supersteel armor.
>>3661291of courseyou can make a tough light armor build that has both 10 con and 10 agi, with feats like sprint, fancy footwork, hit and run, strider, and psycho temporal accelerationeat jumping beans, wear tabis or spring bootsor if you want to lean more into the toughness, be a full tungsten tank and have 7 agi, take sprint and hit and run, eat jumping beans and take the drifter tattoo TM is good here too>>3661295jumping bean, drifter tattoothats 15 mp right thereyou need 20 to move one square out and one square back, so if you went with slightly less than 95% armor penalty, you could have 20 basically constantlyanother option is to wear one of the exoskeletons; they give mp bonuses that ignore armor penalty as well
>>3661295Shit negro why did you pick the static turret build if you wanted to move around?
>>3661299>2 feats and 2 spec points, not to mention the absolute fuckload of money needed for full supersteel armor. That is a little expensive, yeah but it does seem fun>>3661300>10 con+10 agithat sounds cool, might give this a tryl.>>3661301I only realized being a static turret wasn't fun (for me) after trying it out once bro
>>3661275The wiki has a list of skill checks for quests and dialogues, so you can save points in certain places by just raising them to the point you need them. For example, I only raise effective persuasion to 45 to get SGS to side with the Black Eels. That's something like a 30 point spend, since it increases with mercantile and will.
I hope JKK budgeted for me stealing 10000+ charons worth of guns from the Gauntlet.I could have recycled all the guns and shot all the ammo and so on while I was in there, so this isn't morally wrong. There's no real difference between me doing that and me taking it and selling it. Morally speaking, it's fine.
>>3661320that sounds useful, I'll take a look, thanks

>>3661503for melee, its hammershammer feats are nice but not necessarythe new HD weapons are broken all on their own
>>3661505you do need the belt though
>>3661503Chem Pistols imo. Yes, they do have two feats and they're too good to pass, but aside from that you're pretty much free to do as you please.Knives don't have a required knife specific feat to take for them to work, but there's a lot of melee support feats that you really want (like cheap shots and taste for blood) so I don't think it counts.

>>3661569>>3661570I literally go there as soon I turn in the drill part. The exoskeleton is right there at the beginning of the level. You don't even need stealth to get in and out but I take some stealth and a black cloth set anyway.
I am the psi bug now
>>3661570>post-endgame gearHD is only post-endgame if you go the combat route, and not even that if it's a good build tbqhwy. You can just make a beeline to the suit machine and back, especially if you can leave by riftwalking.
>>3661567>5 int, 3 per, 3 dex "doctor"Ehm no thanks I'll bleed out instead
>>3661580>18 strA doctor that strong just pats you on the back the bullets fly out of your body.
>>3661581he's Lenny and you're the rabbit
>>3661581Alongside the lungs I imagine
Which metal is best for each melee weapon? I'm guessing tri-chrome is the best for knives and tungsten for hammers. On my spear build I'm using tri-chrome spears and The Glaive, I just got a 177 quality steel plate would it be a good end game spear or should I make infused leather with it instead?
>>3661587Tungsten for everyone that cares about crit (spears get impale, this is you), tichrome for knives and some hammer builds, gloves is all the same.imo everyone that doesn't want tichrome wants tungsten, I'd use the plates for infused rathound armour.
>>3661590Is rathound really the best? I have some greater siphoner at 122 quality and thought it would be good to use for Tchort. Does any merchant sell good rathound leather or do I have to go hunting?
>>3661587for gloves all metals are the samefor knife its either tichrome or tungsten combat knife depending on your current dex (at the highest dex its tungsten)for sword its not so clear; I prefer supersteel for the precision bonus because it makes flurries more reliable and your damage gets insane anywayif you're not so reliant on flurry, then its tungstenred dragon is the best thoughfor spear its tungsten, with javelins for throwing most of the timefor hammer its tichrome sledge (even without tabis) with quake in the offhand
>>3661604Rathound is best for damage. Other leather types might be more useful defensively or have good utility, but for me it's kill faster.
>tfw there's not enough skill points for everything you wantI just want to do ALL the things dammit
>>3661640My last build had too many skill points so I pumped evasion at the end because I had literally nowhere else to put points into. It made me think that people who claim evasion is worthless on dominating might be wrong.
>>3661641kek, you think?
>>3661607I want to try a Javelin build, but then I realized you can't craft them. How is damage in late game?
>>3661640Be careful what you wish for.
>>3660107What do you use for the pixelated effect?
>>3661652>inb4 its just how the game shows the portrait and im dumb
What do you guys usually do with the Acorn? In my playthroughs I usually just sell it to the professor since I don't really need any money by then since I sell that reef glider and its useless for whoever takes it since no one will ever be able to collect them all. I also just found out you can give it to Bernard to have Gloria destroy it.
>>3661656Give it to Ezra of course, I'm an SGS citizen first.
>>3661653The pixelated effect happens naturally when you shrink the picture to the correct size using photoshop or whatever
>>3661680tiny version visibly pixelated
Do you bother turning on the lights of your characters house when you start a new play-trough?Autism check: do you turn them off when you leave?
>put points in chemistry at start hoping to craft grenades at lv 1>forget to put points in mechanics:(
>>3661659You're a Core City resident!
>>3661680Thanx
>>3661690I'm a sovereign citizen actually
never seen this random dungeon beforeright on the first quest, during the "turn on the bunkers"
>>3661724ok doing this at level 1 was a bad idea
>>3661724Wish it was possible to force every random location and event to spawn.
>>3661729there's a mod for that but it's not updated so it doesn't work
>>3661531>>366152825mm costs 10 less apI used the unique punisher with a mangonel. Most enemies do not require 40mm worth of damage to kill.
>>3661254bumping this guys post because I never play PSI and am curious
>>3661604booththough the best rathound leather is from the faceless machine rathounds
>>3661730Huh? It still worked last time I played, earlier this year.
>>3661254>>36617337 con 10 will 6-8/9 intget 75 thought control for locus but don't get any thought control abilitiespk for single target/defensive spells or/and metathermics for aoe/cheap spellstime magic is still good but your brain has fewer slots for them and you actually need your psi points so it's not a big deal if you skip it
>>3661730>>3661729>>3661740It still works, but it can't force every random thing. Some things take the same space, and random events are spawn differently from random dungeons.
Is there ever a reason to go above 10 con?
>>3661727A lot of the random dungeons are impossible at low levels. You're level 2/3 and they have goliath beetles or industrial robots or whatever. Not happening.
>>366174912 con gates tempered electricity, psi based electric damage is weakness of most tank/cans and this is a rare source of resistance to that
>>3661254Psychosis, go 9 CON for Last Stand and (if you like) SI, max WIL, 6-8 INT, distribute the rest to taste. You can shave some off WIL for more STR to make a tincan. Get Hemopsychosis asap. Level all 4 schools, prioritise biology and electronics in crafting for drugs + headbands.Neurology is shit, don't take it. Open every fight with mania'd AoE, mix and match schools for the situation but try to keep it to 2 schools at a time. Premed is obviously mandatory as soon as it's available.Distribute feats depending on which school you like the most. I like to take Force User every time, Locus is mandatory. When using Stasis remember you can use it to stretch out 1 turn states, and sometimes you don't want this like with Hemo. Coretech is your best option since they have headband components. Get cryo orb as soon as you get to Core City, you'll see why.
>>3661761(TM goes to 70 of course, forgot to say.)
How do I spear build?
>>3661749If your a hammerfag all the HP boosts help with your grand slam damage. Still it only applies if your on hard or Dom. On easy and normal most are gonna get turned to paste by any hammer with spikes. Hitting 1k health it's really easy there
>>3661777hoplite with riot gear w shieldor build with tm and fucking chuck it at ppl and run over pick it up stab/sweep everyone to deathalso craft good spears with shock and laser emitters. all of the unique spears are also kinda fun if you want to mess with them but none of them are amazing in the long termalso don’t forget the hathor camp with the jousting guy
Is throwing DOM viable? Javelins looks fun
>>3661732>Most enemies do not require 40mm worth of damage to kill.Of course not, but you're better off with a different type of gun for them. You already have the skill and you aren't starved for feats so it's easy to fit pretty much anything. The size of the aoe makes it so 25mm is effectively a single target weapon and there are cheaper ways to take out a single enemy.
>>3661781throwing knives are dom viable
>>3661781Some guy beat dominating with crowbar, with that everything is dominating viable.
>>3661781I've done that before they honestly are OP as with spear throw fully specced. Could kill nagas on a crit. Just be sure to get quick pockets to get a regular spear out.
>>3661790Aren't Javelins classes as weapons?
>>3661792Javelins are spears but you still need to have the feat for you to get their benefits. Same thing applies for the glaive and some other uniques that boasts specific feats
>>3661793Explain quick pockets to me then because I thought it only affected utilities
>>3661801doesnt it decrease ap cost for equipping stuff in combat by 50%
>>3661801Quick Pockets reduces the AP cost of equipping weapons or utilities from your inventory during combat.
>>3661647spear throw damage gets insanea jav will kill any non-boss for sure, unless they have particularly high DR and HP, like a nagathe real reason to use a jav off-hand is the low ap cost; as low as 1 with the spear throw AP specif you need to kill something strong, just use a good tungsten spear>>3661656Gloria.>>3661685I turn on the lights of my sgs apartment when I'm there and turn them off as I leave. In my core city house, I dont do that, but I do make sure to lock it.
>>3661809>>3661806It costs 50 fucking to switch weapons? How is Javelin throwing ever worth it at that price? Even with quick pockets that's 25. Is there any other modifiers that decrease the cost?
>>3661813quick pockets isn't that usefulI don't know why you would need to equip two javelins
>>3661817With maxed out spear throw you can launch shit like 10 tiles right? You might not be able to easily get to that, but will want to throw again
>>3661819so it's for sniping multiple (or one if you miss) priority targets at range that you can't los and that won't just die to grenades while also fighting other enemies that saves you 25 apfor a feat point
>>3661813quick pockets spec
>>3661827>>3661822>>3661812>>3661790How about something like this?
>>3661831https://underrail.info/build/?HhAGBgYDAwYAwqAAwqAAAMKgUFBaAG5uAABkAAAARgDCoAA5KMKVRMKUBg3CrEsvMcKFwocSwpPCtnkr4p2NCOKfhAHis6ID4rOkA9--
>>3661832I dislike the feat order.premeditation is pretty good and why else do you have 6 int
>>3661838Feat's not necessarily in order6 int to help with crafting as it's a skill point heavy build needing max melee and throwing
>>3661840the skill point heavy part is taking hacking and lockpicking and pickpocketing
>>3661846How else am I supposed to get everything?
>>3661850
>>3661850you niggas need to do a 0 hacking 0 lockpick 0 pickpocket build just to see how little you're missing out on
How the fuck do I stop missing everything with my hammer
>>36618540 hacking 0 lockpick 0 pickpocket 0 stealth 3 strTruly an eye-opening experience, although it probably helps if you already know whats in all those locked rooms and containters (its shit).
>>3661817I did a build that had tranq MT with javs so I was able to spam orb and destab with 2 javs throws and a nade or cryokinesis. Mostly I had quick pockets to equip next round if anything lived or there was one guy far away.>the spam was insaneIf anything could of done more if I got fatal throw as well
>>3661864How is accuracy with spear throw?
>>3661832A lot of your skills are way too high. With house bonuses+boost equipment+temporary buffs they look like this. You could easily save loads of points on lockpicking+hacking+crafting and not notice it.
>>3661869Alright, lets say I take them off. What do I add?
>>3661858Use TK punch for stuns or grounding for sit still. If you don't have psychokinesis then I mean that's your problem isn't it.
>>3661870No idea, I don't like spears. All I know is you can save skill points.
>>3661867You prob want 100 at most but that's for medium range like 5 tiles on tincans it's 90%. If you stunned a guy you can prob have a 70% chance a few times further. At full range you prob looking at 30% or 50% going at max throwing prob. I had like 130 effective last time I remembered but you won't need to nuke most guys from max range
>>3661870chemistry
Why is this thread so active recently? New update or something?
>>3661881the game was on sale a week ago I guess
>>3661867NVM so at around 190 effective you'll have it at 40%. My DEX is at 10 though with 120 put into throwing.pic below I got a crit off but most things aren't surviving a 3000 damage hit especially if you got an EW off as well
>>3661817Quick Pockets is one of the best feats and a level 1 grab because of the utility slot. You can bring the full team (Grenade, Flashbang, Net, Taser) while keeping the bonus effect of a non-utility belt, or equip the utility belt to add Poison Caltrop to your party.
>>3661656I was going to give it to the Faceless, but they told me my memories could have been altered and it could be a trap. So I might as well just give it Ezra. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>3661656i usually give it to oculus. gloria is such a cool option tho
>>3661893why stop there?
