>>3664282What about her?She can join in the late game and in the harem ending of threeIf it doesn't end with grimm just taking over the idiots place as the dreamer
>>3664184Make stats relevant, dunno how he'll do that though with all the souls being perma upgrade. The domain gimmick was cool, keep that. Bring back companions also, but I'm afraid that'll make bs3 another generic rpgmaker rpg combat wise. Maybe a puzzle like elements in battle will be fun instead of spamming free actions everytime that makes extra turn rings mandatory.
>>3664282>Mabel has two right hands
Man, going back to 1 after 2 feels so....primitive. It's surreal how much he improved with only a single year between releases, this is a jump in quality I haven't seen since Warcraft 1 to 2, which was also somehow a year.
>>3664184Either take away weapon swapping in battle OR remove the whole "whichever weapon you end the turn on, all weapons get that attribute the next turn" shit. As others said, it started fun but just made the game fucking tedious by the end.Just fucking get rid of item use being a free action, it made it so the only way it was possible to die was if you got oneshot.
>>3664299>Make stats relevantThat would be easy to do, but at the same time it would just turn fights into "you simply don't win if you don't meet the stat threshold" as the only way to make stats matter would be to make it so the game is NOT beatable at lvl 1 if you use the right gear.

>>3664671>>3664697Ok so 2 questions, the first of which I'm not gonna bother spoiling because Holmes is such a minor nothing character you see twice in the whole game.So what is his deal? Is Jack a split personality and he doesn't know the person he's tracking is actually himself, or is he just a killer deep down and the whole Detective thing is a mask to throw people off his trail? The other is, I know what Vernai is because he looks and sounds the same regardless of madness, I know what the NPCs are that become monsters when you're sane as it's a pic related thing, but what about the NPCs that still maintain their same form when you're not crazy, but they still speak complete gibberish?
>>3664714>Holmes>minor character>he doesn't knowGo rewatch the movies on the date with Prickett.
>>3664722Yeah I know, he had a thing for Edith, that's why he gets mad if you wear the ring to the fight.
>>3664046why weren't you smothered in your sleep?
>>3664184The number one change for combat should be removing/severely limiting the amount of items that are free actions. Healing items especially shouldn't be free actions, and buffing items likely shouldn't be either. The second change would probably be to change how stat changes are handled, as compounding multipliers get really fucking ridiculous really fucking quickly, though it'd fuck with SL1 runs in the process unless they can substitute some kind of super RotBG for the stats. The third change would be to make extra actions far more limited, or at least make it not nearly as easy to stack close to a dozen of them with virtually zero downside.Anyone bitching about weapon swapping is blaming the wrong thing, and neutering or outright removing it won't help to fix the combat at all.
>>3664714>Holmes is such a minor nothing character you see twice in the whole game.Holmes isn't a minor nothing character, someone like Chikerost would be a minor nothing character. Holmes has more relevance to the plot than I think you realize.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Leopold,_Duke_of_AlbanyAlso yes, the Holmes/Jack thing is a split personality type of issue, his case file in the Mental Ward and DLC 3 state as much.
>>3664776The number one change would be to eliminate combat altogether and make a VN instead.
>>3664779Being a reference to a real person connected to other characters who are references to real people, doesn't give someone narrative relevance. They don't really DO anything with his connection to Edith.

>>3664832Cute
>>3664835>Items shouldnt be something you can just buy easily from vendors, maybeIt's not really the supply of items that's the issue, at best you're just encouraging NG+/Chaos Dungeon farming instead.
I gotta admit I never know you could buy clocks from Node until recently after I beat the whole game. I thought the "make me watch" option was to watch her fuck the bear or masturbate or something.
>>3664864>I thought the "make me watch" option was to watch her fuck the bear or masturbate or something.Your brain is rotten
>>3664855Strong items could be covenant based (just to give better rewards for certain covenants), and only stack to a certain level, to discourage stackingSo strong situational items would only be used where they fitItem spam in BS2 is really only a problem with clockI dont care if the player uses buff items, although it does make buff spells that take turns worthless, but that is easily fixed problem

>>3664912>She's not a whore.
>>3664908>Strong items could be covenant basedYou'd have to completely shift the covenant system for that to really mean anything, otherwise you'll have BS2's system of instantly slamming enough souls down their gullets to hit the max rank.>and only stack to a certain level, to discourage stackingSo the Tales approach? I don't think that'd really fit well with the BS formula. Maybe a cap on what you can use per combat for each item but keeping the basic carry limit the same might be a better place to start, that way you're still limited on what you can use per fight but aren't forced to constantly backtrack to restock at a bonfire/shop.>Item spam in BS2 is really only a problem with clockI know gunclock gets memed about a lot, but it really does fall off by the end of DLC 2/by the time DLC 3 starts. Objectively speaking, the free action healing/buff stacking does a lot more to cheese the later fights in BS2 than gunclock ever would, and it's a million times faster as well. Knives are also technically broken, but the Speed stat is ignored by most people in most cases later on for good reasons, so I get why they're not brought up nearly as often.>I dont care if the player uses buff items, although it does make buff spells that take turns worthless, but that is easily fixed problemIt doesn't make all of the buff spells worthless, but those that aren't have some other effect tied to them (I.E. Crit up/separate stacking Attack multiplier) rather than just the basic core stat ups the items give. There really isn't an easy solution for keeping the basic ass Omnibless/Ambition style buffs relevant throughout the game though. Planned obsolescence might actually be the lesser evil here unless you really want to get restrictive and have half of the fights in the game say fuck items as part of their domains or something like that.
>>3664184it would be cool if covenants were questlines instead of just having to pump them full with souls
>>3664946>You'd have to completely shift the covenant system for that to really mean anything, otherwise you'll have BS2's system of instantly slamming enough souls down their gullets to hit the max rank.I already addressed this in a previous post, covenants should also be meaningful and you shouldnt be able to get every single one in a single playthrough>So the Tales approach?Dont know what Tales is, i just know that it would fix the issue, but obviously some retards mainly contrarians on /v/ would complainHow come it wouldnt fit? A videogame is a videogame, i dont think theres any reason you couldnt have such a system. I could have instead suggested an inventory weight limit, which would actually be way more frustrating than just an item cap per item.If you dont want people to spam items, make it painful for them to do so, its shifting the balancing of the fights off from the GAME to the PLAYERYou want to cheese every single fight? Or you just suck in general? Well too bad, youre going to have to backtrack and find items to beat the bosses, you cant blame the game for (You) sucking at it.>but it really does fall off by the end of DLC 2Yeah but figuring that one out early can trivialize literally EVERY bossfight, i know i cheesed God fish with it, but that was super late when i discovered itBut then again, Gunclock isnt even the broken one pre DLC3, its requiem+clockBuff spells are largely useless, because you can just by 999 screws + whatever buff items you want in the end game, use them at the start of combat to boost your stats etc, its also annoying shit to do for multiple attempts at a boss, i know iam not going to sacrifice a turn in a tough fight just to save on some items/not get pissed off at menuingBuffs should sacrifice a turn, and last longer, with obviously clear timers for when they end, then you can give different buff spells to the player as rewardsEach one can supplement any build, but Omnibless would be too strong to be a basic reward
I liked the soul feeding cgs. I hope they come back. We really missed out when upgrading covenants was simply a soul cost. I want her to work for it AND reward me afterwards
>>3664909Very nice
>>3664996Not mine. I can't draw for shit.
>>3664837I prefer the Library, even if it is a little lonely. Not as lonely as the outside but I wish someone else was there. Hein, Miranda forma muerte maybe even Victoria or the Chick would have been great had EMMM not decided to commit to that isolating atmosphere.
>>3664960>covenants should also be meaningful and you shouldnt be able to get every single one in a single playthroughEven BS1 still let you grab all of the covenants with some fuckery, artificially preventing players from joining covenants and forcing cycles for that would just be ass. I can't even remember any of the souls games pulling shit like that off the top of my head.>Dont know what Tales isTales of (Symphonia, Vesperia, etc.) has various carry limits on items on first playthroughs, but they're also ARPGs where avoiding and mitigating damage on the fly is a lot more reasonable to expect from the player (and in turn design systems around) than a ATB JRPG where you basically can't ever see what the enemy is about to do or react in real time to it outside of trying to interrupt specific charged moves.>A videogame is a videogame, i dont think theres any reason you couldnt have such a system.A videogame is a videogame, but some systems make a lot more sense in specific genres. Neither BS1 or BS2 are designed in such a way that such a system would make sense, and I can't imagine EMMM completely changing BS3's approach to the overall design and going full survival horror for it considering the series inspirations, though I get this is all hypotheticals. >I could have instead suggested an inventory weight limit, which would actually be way more frustrating than just an item cap per item. Both would be pointlessly tedious.>If you dont want people to spam items, make it painful for them to do so, its shifting the balancing of the fights off from the GAME to the PLAYERIf you want to hit items with the nerf bat, imposing limits on them being free actions would be the place to start. The issue with items isn't the raw supply, most of the problems caused by items would arise even if items weren't free actions and you used buffs instead by dint of how the stat multipliers work in the series, so you'd need to address that too.
>>3665032>Yeah but figuring that one out early can trivialize literally EVERY bossfightLike with knives, it cheeses most of the main game bosses and up through most of DLC 2, but after that the damage output really just stops being as worthwhile compared to what you could (and should) be doing. I'm sure you already know, but Hans is another early gamebreaker and unlike gunclock it literally never falls off if you know how to abuse it.>But then again, Gunclock isnt even the broken one pre DLC3, its requiem+clockRequiem's always been funny to me. As far as game design goes it's essentially a free win button pre-DLC 3, but you also don't need it at all if you know how to properly play the game. >Buff spells are largely uselessAgain, it depends on the spell. Buff spells that give nothing but the core stat ups that the items give end up largely being useless for obvious reasons. There's still other offensive buffs that come with useful effects in addition to their core stat ups like Crit up (I.E. King's Orders, Royal Tea), or provide effects that stack with those core buffs (I.E. Phalanx, Self-Mutilation) that make them very much worth using. You also still have several defensive/utility oriented buffs that items can't provide/provide effects that stack with existing effects like Soul Shield, Indignation, Absolute Precision, Knight's Pride and whatnot.>and last longer, with obviously clear timers for when they end, then you can give different buff spells to the player as rewardsBS needing a better combat UI aside, you'd still run into the general problem of Omnibless (or especially Ambition) just obsoleting most of the single stat spells once you do get it. You'd need for those single stat buffs to immediately max out their relevant stat to even stand a chance of being viable compared to the former buffs, the action efficiency is just too good.
>>3665032>artificially preventing players from joining covenants and forcing cycles for that would just be assEverything in a game is artificialIf EMMM had decided that covenants would be free, then added a soul cost to them in BS2, you would call that change "artificial"It is a pointless word to describe it with. The games already encourage you to play through them multiple times, to see events, to find out secrets etcLocking covenants based on events or quests you have completed and locking others, as the content really isnt at all required to beat the game even in BS2Not every covenant should be locked, some should, based on other covenantsFor example, Jubjub in BS2Shes an evil bitch, (atleast her role is)Theres a good excuse to lock her covenants, or add a quest for her covenant, where you have to kill the other girls to unlock it, just like the Kaki questDoing this would give MEANING to the covenants, the rewards could be made better tooRight now they are pointless, you pay a price, you get some CGs and you get a stat boost, thats it, boring as fuck>imposing limits on them being free actions would be the place to start. But then you couldnt have soft boosts from items, nobody wants to use a fairly shitty boost item if it took away their turnYou would have to make turns less important to balance some items, or make the items themselves super powerfulWith item limits, and or item use limits, you could have fairly weakish items, that can be used alongside your other spells and items, giving you greater control over what happens during the next turnStuff like single turn bursting with items become viable, something SL1 runs can utilizeBoss fights where you have a turn limit where you lose can become possibleItems that combo with other skills you use, become possible1/2
>>36650322/2Nobody wants to throw weakening items on a boss, have the boss fucking hit you for insane damage, and only THEN get to defend yourself or attack the boss backIn BS2 MOST items would be absolutely underpowered if they ended your turnWhats the point of using an Estus charge, if the boss is just going to fucking smack you again? It wouldnt work for most players.>>3665034>Again, it depends on the spellYes, MOST buff spells are useless, specifically, those that give you buffs that you CAN get from other itemsTheres literally no reason to use Omnibless other than convenience or being clueless
>>3665046Wouls you rape tenma if given the chance?(You are a musclar chad and she wants it so it's more of an cnc case than real rape)
>Use poison or any debuff a single time on a boss>Miss>I guess it doesnt work>Proceed to Ghostfire a boss from 100% down to 0, 5% at a time>>3664184Actually tell the player in a separate chat log what effects his spells just had, when shits immune to your abilities and when you just missed instead of showing a message for a microsecond for what happenedBS2 would be immediately much more approachable and actually probably EASY if you were just told what the fuck just happened
>>3664184Samefagging to say a day/night cycle with radiant AI would be cool
>>3665035>Everything in a game is artificialIn the most simplistic sense, yes, everything in a game is artificial due to it being made by the creator. Properly designed games are generally made in such a way where the creator's design decisions feel natural and intuitive enough to the player though. When the game design feels unnatural and unintuitive, that's when you tend to get bitching.>The games already encourage you to play through them multiple times, to see events, to find out secrets etcI feel like there's a pretty big difference in approach here between you and EMMM. If there's one thing I've learned from seeing how EMMM approaches shit in the series, it's that he generally tries to not limit player options as much as possible. Under your system, once you have that covenant, that's it for that cycle. For as long as that cycle might take you're effectively stuck with a dead slot regardless of whatever changes you might want to make/actually do make to your playstyle, and you're stuck seeing only that covenant's sub-plot for that cycle which pads the fuck out of the time needed to see the plotlines for all of them (BS2 has 17 fucking covenants, 17 potential cycles FYI).Even though the balancing and interactivity with the covenants leaves a lot to be desired, BS's multiple covenant approach is a much smarter method for letting the player pick and choose what they want their playstyle to be like, and it helps cut down on unnecessary repetition and tedium, especially in longer games like BS2 and what BS3 will probably be like as well. I think your approach here would work in short and linear games, but not BS, even with cycling in play.>Right now they are pointless, you pay a price, you get some CGs and you get a stat boost, thats it, boring as fuckThe covenants were never the focus of the plot, they have always been side characters at best. For what it's worth, I wish EMMM gave the player more to do with them, but plot priorities are what they are.
>>3665091>But then you couldnt have soft boosts from items, nobody wants to use a fairly shitty boost item if it took away their turnThere's some potential middle ground between having items not take an action and having items take an action, which you actually touch upon in your own post.>With item limits, and or item use limitsI already mentioned keeping the core item carry limit unchanged, and only limiting the amount of items that you can take into/use in combat earlier in the reply chain, but if you want to spitball you can. You could put a low hard cap on the number of different items you can carry into combat (with variable in-combat carry caps depending on the item), but have them all be free actions until you run out of stock for the fight. You could sort of steal a page out of the SMT playbook and riff off of the Press Turn system, having half action and full action increments depending on what you do in combat (I.E. basic items/buffs being half actions, attacking being a full action, potentially have moves that cost more than one full action etc.) though it'd probably need a much lower cap on bonus action stacking and individual fine-tuning regarding action consumption, though this could also open up the possibility for buffs that last for X actions rather than X turns if you want to keep going with the weaker item variant idea. You could tie what and how many items count as free actions per turn to your start of combat Speed stat and let's be honest, Speed needs some reason to exist after you hit 1k, with better items requiring more Speed to count as free actions and maybe taking up more of the "free" Speed that the other items could have used that turn. I can probably spitball other shitty ideas if I wanted to waste more time on it, but I think you get the point.>MOST buff spells are uselessI want to say there's more non-item buff spells than item ones, but I haven't checked.
>>3664338I think he acknowledged it was a bit too much considering God's Angels is basically designed to be so good you dont have to bother with weapon swapping anymore.
>>3664792>>3664840I guess I just expected more of Holmes, more like an Eileen the Crow thing. He's (assumedly) the first NPC you meet after Dinah in NG unless you meta that shit and intentionally die 10 times in the Rabbit Hole to get SEN to 0 with Black souls to meet Red. He warns you about Jack, he kills Mary at P4 (but you dont know that), and then....he just disappears until you go to Upper Lutwidge, reveals "aha, *I* was Jack the Ripper all along!", and then dies unceremoniously. I wasnt expecting Red or Dinah levels of interaction but for the person that introduces you to the first hub of the game, he just kinda comes and goes.

>>3665831And yet I still did it. But I had a lot of time on my hands to go grug mode and bruteforce it.Also let's be real, the vast majority of people that beat the game just looked it up. That's just how gamers are now, especially considering this is a series heavily influenced by Dark Souls which is a franchise specifically built around the idea that the players are helping each other out and not leaving them to figure it out on their own.

It's not that you're using them, it's WHY it looks like you're using them. You will never see this from Fatefags, they tell you to fuck off and read the VN before posting. Or they'll just tell you the lore answer because if you asked a question then expect to be spoiled. Same with D&Dfags, Falloutfags, Kotorfags, really any other group here. >>3666164Sounds to me like everyone else doesn't want new players to have a good time discovering stuff on their own. I will chalk it up to spoiling faggots being secondary shitters that don't know how great it is to experience and piece together on their own, so they don't give a shit about spoiling. That includes (You).
>>3666184>using spoilers is simply a matter of common decencyToo bad that anon has no common decency.
>>3666196Nta but like the other person said, almost everyone just looks shit up in a guide, and it's not even a "these days" thing, it's been a thing since GameFAQs started back in the mid-90s. I swear I'll get around to updating the wiki eventually so it's not so barren but I've been so busy and I need to rip the equipment icons to fill out the BS2 item list.Speaking of which, when do you think is the amount of time that should pass for a game in the realm of "you should know by now what happens in it" before discussing it? In tv it's around 3-7 says but a tv show just requires watching something. Personally I like the Super Robots Wars unofficial 3 years rule which was never actually a thing but fans like it act like it was. Basically Banpresto seemed to have usually waited around 3 years after a show came out before it was added to SRW, and people thought of it in terms of you had 3 years to watch this series, so don't bitch when you play a game that gives the cliffnotes version of it and you might have knowledge gaps.
>>3666201>almost everyone just looks shit up in a guideMost people are also lazy, stupid faggots. Why should we cater to them? If they really get stuck, they have hints.txt they can read.>Speaking of which, when do you think is the amount of time that should pass for a game in the realm of "you should know by now what happens in it" before discussing it?Spoilers are still spoilers regardless of the length of time. I think the BS fanbase handles discussing them well enough, if you're still playing the games and hover over spoiler tags not addressed to you, you're doing so at your own risk.
>>3666196>Sounds to me like everyone else doesn't want new players to have a good time discovering stuff on their own.But WE didn't discover it on our own. Both here and in Japan everyone pieced it together as a community on release with everyone posting "oh, I found this thing!", it was one of the biggest community efforts to figure everything out in a small indie game since Yume Nikki. Which really is something we've done since we were kids on the playground, sharing neat things we found when everyone got a game. What I'm saying is, if you weren't there at the start, it's too late for you
>>3666209>Spoilers are still spoilers regardless of the length of time.Yeah but after a point, some things just become common knowledge, like the MC's name being Grimm despite the fact that that's supposed to be a giant twist in one of 1's endings. Pic related.
>>3666216>like the MC's name being Grimm despite the fact that that's supposed to be a giant twist in one of 1's endingsTo be fair, it's virtually impossible to talk about BS without having a universally agreed upon name for the protagonist to discuss with. From what I remember there were attempts early on at trying to keep his name a secret, but people couldn't agree on a name and Ko/v/ shit was basically the final nail in the coffin.

>>3665888Holmes....
>>3664779I'm gonna be honest, I hate that explanation about Jack because to me, it goes against what the Mental Ward video said about his character. He hated whores because they gave birth to miserable unwanted children, which is why he valued Edith, because she was a pure girl untouched by the filth of that rotten town. It makes a lot more sense that there is no Holmes, there's only Jack, and Holmes is just an alias he uses because you just met him and have no reason to suspect him. I mean, does anyone else at all mention Detective Holmes? Them being split personalities undercuts him to me when the game already gave a perfect good reason for him having been locked up in the past, because he was a sick man in a sick world who only knew how to save it with violence
I played and fully went through the entire series over the past 2 weeks, and it was honestly one of my favorite pieces of worldbuilding/plot I've seen in a while. I absolutely loved the story, but honestly I was really turned off by how much lolicon stuff was in the game along with how forced the h scenes felt sometimes (especially in bs1, in bs2 I think you can avoid nearly every one). Shit like Gerda jumpscare igloo scene and Hansel and Gretel in bs1I get that I'm a tourist or whatever, and I understand that aspects of it are important to the plot Lewis Carroll, but it just took me out of the game at times and basically makes it impossible to recommend to others despite how good I feel it is.
>>3666237>I hate that explanation about Jack because to me, it goes against what the Mental Ward video said about his character. Not really, the two things aren't mutually exclusive. Leopold remembers spending time in the white prison, where he presumably got mindfucked into his current role of Jack/Holmes, and then some time after that Jekyll took advantage of his state and somehow made some kind of drug from him.>I mean, does anyone else at all mention Detective Holmes?Yeah, it's not like he's some unknown figure in Lutwidge. There's a poster discussing both Jack and Holmes at the bar, and Mary (rabbit whore) talks about Holmes off the top of my head. I wish he had a bigger role to play in the plot though, but I guess the shit that happens to people like him and the Carpenter aren't really the focus of BS2.
>>3664779>>3664838Actual short hair tomboy wifeWtf
>>3666242>but it just took me out of the game at times and basically makes it impossible to recommend to others despite how good I feel it is.Creative works aren't always going to inspire pleasant feelings or reactions, and they're not always intended to be consumed or enjoyed by the average person either. Black Souls is a work targeted towards a very specific audience, and there's no harm or shame in that.
>>3666242Let's meet again next year when you will be going uohhh cunny erotic sexo
>>3666247That's fair, I am totally not in the target audience though desu, I was unironically there for the plot. I can usually stomach a lot of stuff but some of the the h scenes were especially bad and explicitly pandering rather than enhancing the experience. I do appreciate though that as the series progressed and Toro continued writing it feels like the focus shifted away from a lot of that. I only say all this because I want to be able to fully get into the black souls discussion etc but it's hard when half of it is cunny uoooh shit. >>3666249Honestly by like mid bs2 I was totally done with h-scenes, my H run I think had 0 scenes at all. I just got grossed out by those kinds of scenes desu, I only really liked Prickett, Mabel and Dinah.
>>3666262I see you have culture in youBut don't worry soon you will come to learn to love Lorina as qoh too

>>3666264Lorina was way too young looking imo which is weird considering she's the same age as her sisters but she was a good character. >>3666271I'll be honest that was one of the few characters I actually checked all the options on It made me wonder if BS3 is going to be focused on the king in yellow. My pet theory is that it's going to be based on Dante's Inferno with Lorde having a ton of similarities with Stolas.
>>3666277I used to have a theory that of the endings 3 would be grimm taking the place of the idiot as a more superior version of the dreamer since he is a writter, i can see KIY trying to do the sane thing since he(she?) also wrote a book(play)
>>3666285one of*same*
>>3666285I would agree that'd be interesting, but I just don't know how you could get enough characters out of the remaining Lovecraft Mythos without reusing a majority of the characters.
>>3666288I mean we know that mary is out there, maymay could come back and we still have to keep the promise we made to prickett(tco), so we running into them either way
>>3666289For sure some can come back, but most of the important cast were major Lovecraft mythos characters, I think they'd need to introduce a new pantheon or whatever unless I am totally underestimating the Lovecraft pantheon size.
>>3666290There are a TON, but i can't see them being used as simple cg npcs, t bh i have no idea what he will even use for bs3 npcs since the ending of 2 didn't end in a cliffhanger like 1 did
>>3666296I mean he is destined to have tragedy around him, I wouldn't be surprised if something in one of the spinoffs has something happen. Also real locations have been sucked into a garden like the crimean hospital, so it wouldn't be that crazy for him to get caught up.
>>3664184who says the will be a third one? the ending in the last dlc of bs2 felt pretty definitive

Okay so was tco basically a waifu before leaf took grimm?. She and Grimm look pretty happy together and without any weird lovecraftian thing going on in the movie.
>>3666336The events of the Tea Party take place before BS1, and TCO was playing the role of Alice during the Tea Party.
>>3666337Yeah but it doesn't seem like she was just playing the role from the way prickett reacts to it. Do you think the whole tco would have turned into prickett had it continue?
>>3666343>Do you think the whole tco would have turned into prickett had it continue?Yeah, the general consensus is that TCO as a whole would have ended up like Prickett if it kept going.
>>3666350Mary really ruined everything
>>3666211Don't I fucking know it. This thing has a single stage where a single enemy has a single pixel worth of clue on him in a dozen variations. Solving it as a group was practically required. It was indeed great being in threads where most people are figuring stuff out and asking for help. But still all of this is much different to just looking up a guide for the whole game, those are who I think don't give a shit about spoiling.
I still don't really get how elemental buffs work. I get it = more damage and that Royal Tea is a fucking amazing spell in 2, but I can never figure out how much damage because I can't see resistances (that I know of) so it's basically just rolling the dice on how effective it'll be. Also that the Ice buff is bugged or something which is why it can't be dispelled.

>>3667431It's an okay review, but I'll say a few thingsFor one, too many jokes. You could cut 2/3rds of the jokes and there would still be too many left over. It kills the pacing of the video and makes me wanna skip forward. The whole intro segment is 7 minutes long for no reason because you ramble too much. Overall the video is way too long. Considering you're only talking about BS1, there is no reason the video should be 35 minutes long if you're not going into specifics on each character and plot pointsYour review is structured poorly. For most of the video, you are criticizing the game or making sarcastic remarks which make the game seems worse, but by the end you hail it as a must play game. The only actual praise in your video comes from the segment where you spoil people and if I'm someone who skipped that part to avoid spoilers, then I'm gonna be like "why should I play this game that you just said plays like shit?" Obviously, the gameplay in BS1 is pretty ass, but cutting back on the plentiful snide remarks about tropey stuff would helpThe Premise, Combat, Mechanics, and Inspiration segments are pretty good. Everything else is not so great. The review overall just isn't too good, which is unfortunate since the other ones I've watched of yours are typically good with the LobCorp video being pretty fantastic. You probably should have just made a video on both BS1 and 2. Also, please do not tell people that they could play the games without H-scenes. Maybe you could get away with that in BS1 where there's only like 3 scenes that are much worse without them, but BS2 NEEDS to be played with them for the best experience. It also keeps away the faggots who think that H-scenes are inherently bad

fixed spoilers>>3667431In your lore reveal section, you could have mentioned the way you are expected to "guess the suspect" at the end, instead opting to just say its Leaf immediately, i know most people that watch that section are expected to have played the game, but many, many people will just see the sudden reveal instead of being told how the game reveals it, its probably the biggest "gotcha" moments the game throws at you and for probably the most people, also the most memorable. You could have mentioned that the game uses royalty free music and what you thought about it, in the atmosphere section of your video, if it was jarring to you or if you liked it or if it was a mixed bag.You mentioned the game has some mechanic to punish you if you just rely on your companions only and dont level yourself (as you did) but didnt tie it in with the fact that the game expects you to eventually kill all your companionsIf you REALLY loved BS1 as much as you said you did, youre in for a treat for BS2 for sure. But do yourself a favor and keep the h-scenes ON during the entire game, its not at all a waste of time, even if it first would seem.

Just be sure you have the Power of READING, COMPREHENSION first unlike some retards. If you really wat spoilersIt's basic bitch ass logic, they drifted apart, Alice's dad didn't want Alice and Lewis to be married, (thought there's one 0 SEN evidence that it really was just the pressure of society getting to him) so Alice married a guy closer to "her station", Lewis stayed as a bachelor writer prof. Years, and I mean a LOT of years after, he got invited by Alice, and basically ran away with PTSD upon seeing her so old and that so much time passed. Alice wasn't much better.Or in basic retardfree language, they are both very OLD, and that, with the realization of what there is now, what could have been, what should have been, broke them.Like I said it's basic bitch ass logic, it's in the TEXT, and the fact that people didn't got it is mindblowing, and they pretty much pulled it that shit from their asses at best, like >>3667806 pointed out. There's so many little things in 1 that feel like they weren't super well thought-out. Like Rotten Burg and Elixir were seemingly somewhat normal towns with normal people living in them until relatively recently when they got fucked over, and no I don't think that's just memory alteration like how Jeanne remembers Orleans despite France not existing in this world. Or the whole Undead Purge thing, how did they accomplish that? The Undead are unkillable in-universe unless you take their immortality away, and we know that's not just Grimm being special because Lindamaea possesses the same trait because they're undead. And yes I know in-universe it was hastily thrown together without a lot of thought but that feels like a halfassed justification.
>>3668961I think those areas are "written" to be towns in chaos. A lot of the setting seems to exist to follow a storyline. I imagine the Undead Purge is similar to Dark Souls, i.e. you round up all of them and torture them in some remote location forever.
>>3668966Yeah obviously the Undead Purge is just a DS1 reference, but it also raises questions
>>3668961>There's so many little things in 1 that feel like they weren't super well thought-out.

>>3668961>Like Rotten Burg and Elixir were seemingly somewhat normal towns with normal people living in them until relatively recently when they got fucked over, and no I don't think that's just memory alterationI think people gloss over the idea that the events of BS1 don't just magically start when we start the game. For example, Glinda's summoning of Shub-Niggurath takes place before the start of the game. While it's hard to suss out what was just purely Mary poorly making shit up (I.E. Dorothy having no idea what Toto looked like) or not, the basic idea that there was shit happening before BS1 officially starts shouldn't be in question at least. More than likely, Elixir and Rotten Burg were actually relatively normal towns before we started the game.>Or the whole Undead Purge thing, how did they accomplish that? You could rationalize it with something similar to what happened to the Ghouls in 2, but there's really no evidence one way or the other ingame that I can recall for what exactly happened.

>>3665781Having played BS2 blind, It took me about 8 loops to figure this one, and I explored through every nook and corner, the first loop everyone died because of Jubjub so I decided to go up and down through the whole map and lay it out, went through every single area I could get through until upon backtracking I saw the shitty bird flying by the bridge of dead soldiers then it clicked on me, I had NOT explored it all, which then I found the asylum and everything else just started to flow naturally.First loop I had already died to the Cat so I reset to try and beat it, this time I had a good idea of what to do and saved Alice. The following loops had a lot of experimenting, from messing with SEN to trying different character interactions to finding about Shisha and Dodo, even Jubjub and the chick, Vernai's mission, etcI suppose I took my sweet time but DLC3 was still a long way it took me a while till I started interacting with objects, in retrospective what Wonderland teaches you in the first game is exactly all you will apply in the second

>>3669367I'm assuming you mean BESIDES the Chaos Dungeon which is by far the best place but will also utterly obliterate the game's pacing because you bypassed the natural flow of how strong you should be for a given area.
>>3669391I'm at the very start of the game and never have played the game before
>>3669393Well the Chaos Dungeon is an optional grinding dungeon you access from the prison area in your home base. It basically exists so that you're strong enough stat-wise for DLC3 because you get real strong real fast in there.
>>3669394I see, this girl is cute

However, the Multiplication Table doesn’t signify: let’s try Geography. London is the capital of Paris, and Paris is the capital of Rome, and Rome—no, that’s all wrong, I’m certain! I must have been changed for Mabel! I’ll try and say ‘How doth the little—’” and she crossed her hands on her lap as if she were saying lessons, and began to repeat it, but her voice sounded hoarse and strange, and the words did not come the same as they used to do:—“How doth the little crocodileImprove his shining tail,And pour the waters of the NileOn every golden scale!“How cheerfully he seems to grin,How neatly spread his claws,And welcome little fishes inWith gently smiling jaws!”“I’m sure those are not the right words,” said poor Alice, and her eyes filled with tears again as she went on, “I must be Mabel after all, and I shall have to go and live in that poky little house, and have next to no toys to play with, and oh! ever so many lessons to learn!

DRH needs to hurry up already>all this speculation about real-world sources or superimpositions of characters>so little about current and future of the settingUggug/beast of distraction is a direct reference to Sylvie and Bruno, so where are the other characters? Mein Herr and the Warden are the most enigmatic and it feels strange if they aren't represented. The Warden could be the King in Yellow if anyone, but I think there's a good case with Mary Sue too. There's the Slave Emperor/Slave Empress who are clearly Sibimet and Tabikat set right before her encounter, and in the story the Warden "plays along" with their games of intrigue. She fits that role, due to her seemingly vindictive and merciless placement past them, and "powerlessness" if you decide to fuck her/fuck her up. Add to this that the Warden is the king of Fae and no one has bothered to strip Mary Sue of her fairy identity...if it turns out that she has yet been playing all others for a fool all along, you can probably fill out a roster of the people taking a roll from the story. Grimm actually being a Bruno/Historian expy would explain so much about his enretardation.Node is literally and metaphorically an Outlander and her watch theme has a dual purpose of pretending to be the "white rabbit" while actually featuring the literal power set of the Outlandish Watch. Pretending to be the white rabbit because while her role in the play has zero features in common with the rabbit's own, it has many in common with the Professor. The Professor, after all, awaits you in the library. Superimposing features of the white rabbit with her natural features and the role of the Professor makes a tasteful sleight-of-hand playing on player expectations to insert a character who "should not be there" while filling the narrative gaps left behind by the accursed Black Rabbit(s). This also works with the previous interpretation as the Professor does not directly suffer the crushing of the Emperor/Empress but instead

>>3670331>do you NEED to grind a lot in BS2 >no, you can even do it at SL1 stats>woooooow pointless informationAll that really matters for a normal playthrough is understanding how gearing and buffing works. Factually, you do not need to grind in BS2, it's an open and shut question. My headcanon is that he scales to the height of the actual authors themselves. Lewis Carroll was 5'11, Anderson was 6'1, and I can't find the brothers Grimm heights, but considering they were Germanic, they are most likely in that range. 180 cm minimum or bust

You don't need to level up any weapons, you can ride the dragon whenever you want, you don't have to replay the game to get the other endings, it's actually just new content after the credits and it's really cool. Drakengard is a game that youtube essayist force themselves to play just to make a video and come back saying they didn't like it, but anyone who actually plays it for the game it is has a lot of fun.Nier might be the best written game, and the presentation is amazing.
