I think when you're watching it looks a lot easier than it actually is, and they let you advertise whatever you want if you make it through.
They also try to be flattering, and funny so I think some celebs with the "ask me about my weiner" personality can't resist the opportunity to talk about themselves.
You sort of see this phenomenon in vtubing with shows like blooms choir. People want to feel like they're seen, and they like to feel like they're part of a team. Unfortunately I think this can lead to many sore blunders with talents who are predisposed to enjoying the limelight.
For example if you look at the Sorrel Soufle channel on YouTube he's got collabs on there that have 1-3 views per VOD, and it's mostly across the board. To me this implies that he (and the talents he collabed with) were so sore from the disatisfication of their performance that neither party decided to reference the VOD as a treasured memento, or memory of a better time that they could take pride in.
This past four years displays on many channels what appears to be tragic mountains of regret on summer fields that wish to be forgotten.
I try to watch VODs regardless because I feel it brightens a seemingly grim scene.

League is only really big on twitch. There's at least one Minecraft streamer on every streamer platform. Not going to judge since I invested primarily in Fallout New Vegas (a game mostly abandoned save for a few pirates and occasional tourists) but Minecraft really can be a great fall back even if you only minor in it.
