By doing a presentation of your hand cam slides you can be free to attend to your tippers, and chat instead of letting your attention be lost to trying to duo-task yourself with the job of IRL stage management labors. If vtubing to you is as simple as a Chinese shadow puppet show doll performance with the camera on I would say go for it as those guys already juggle so many things it wouldn't make much of a difference, but because most vtubers sort seem to have zero in on tippers mid show to thank them for their allowance I would highly advise you reconsider doing a live hand cam broadcast as balancing putting on a show, tending to tip notes, and maintenance of the stage might be a lot to balance at one time to one person. Add into this chat moderation, and tending to streaming software at the same time, and it's a bit of a tall order for one person. Instead of trying to put on your pants in one foul swoop I would recommend putting your pants on one leg at a time. What I mean is to take things one at a time to avoid completely botching your performance. By doing a slide show of your hand cam your hands can be free play with your model, and be sure everything is working proper. By doing a slide show of your hand cam you can in advance perfectly stage the scene, and only use the shots you find best. By doing a slide show of your handcam your hands will be free to look up, and research anything you need to while the screen stays focused on the topic at hand. By doing a slide show of your handcam you can make sure the lighting in each photo comes out exactly how you would like before going live. By doing a slide show of your hand cam you have a higher chance of avoiding showing embarrassing things on stream (provided you placed special care in screening the photos you want to use). By doing a slide show of your handcam you can focus more on attending to your tippers instead of making sure the camera is working. Consider curating a slide show of your handcam to later present live on stream, so as to avoid scuff. I think I have listed plenty of food for thought to consider as you proceed. By the way the natural light of the sun is boasted by many to be better than any artificial lighting one could ever hope for in the world of photography. Oh, and if you do decide to go with the handcam slide show consider dramatic shots, and staging props around your camera as well as funny screen overlays for each slide.

Another thing to consider that I've rarely seen outside of 24 hour streams is a stream time live counter on screen. One that I've never seen at all that you might want to consider is a screen overlay that counts chat messages while live. You can even set funny goals like "model upside down at 500 chat messages sent". There's lots of things you can do to follow others, or pave your own way.
