I think about this whenever I find myself cringing at the Kybalion. Just to keep myself honest. Really though, a late antique vintage is still quite cool to me. Back in the 90's when I was in preschool, my mother used to work all day almost every day. Yet despite how long and hard she worked, we were very poor. With all due respect, mother wasn't very well educated, had learning disabilities, and was functionally illiterate. But she had a kind heart and always did her best to make sure I never went hungry.Unfortunately, my mother couldn't afford a babysitter, and quite frankly, didn't trust most people outside of the hospitality she provided as a barkeep. So I was often left alone all day, almost every day, even at that age. At first it was lonely, but then, Lisa and James started showing-up. I figured they were just kids like me who were left to roam the neighborhood. They would come up from the landing that led to the basement of our house. I was a dumb kid, so I assumed they found their way in through our back door. We would play together...mostly pretending that we were in school. Lisa always smelled nice, and James was a stout and hearty lad. We'd take turns being the teacher while the other kids were the students. The weird thing is that Lisa and James would come late at night sometimes when mom was sleeping and insist that I come play, but I would shoo them away, knowing that mommy needed her rest. They were not nice kids at all, and like to banter and cause trouble.One thing they always kept insisting was for me to play in the basement with them, but the basement was creepy and dark. No kids should be playing down there. So I would firmly refuse them every time. Many years later, as a young adult, I visited our old home. I told the new owners that I used to live there years ago with my mom, and they looked at me with a puzzled gaze. It turns out that house was used as a daycare by the previous owners, but was condemned due to children who got sick and died from a gas leak in the basement. Funny enough, it's literally called ghosting. It happens when an image is burned into the screen. Also, a shorted capacitor can cause parts of the screen to be blown out, making certain areas of the screen to be lit more intensely, even during shutdown. A blown capacitor in the power supply could also explain why the sound to continue to be audible, probably very distorted. But even knowing this, I'd be creeped out too.
