To my general understanding I always found weird the use of western here. The most relevant schools and practices seem to always come from Judaism, India or China.
Tarot? A reinterpretation of Kabbalah.
Same with Crowley, biggest occultist in Europe.
Meditation, mindfulness and breath control? From hinduism or buddhism.
Greek philosophy? Mostly absorbed by Christian theology in the West.
Medieval alleged sects like the Templars? Destroyed by the Church
Theosophy? A sect rejected by its jeet messiah.
Nobody takes Greek or Nodic mythology as nothing more than tales nowdays. All the witchcraft practices I find in English and other european languages use jewish or african figures.
Freemasonry seems like the branch most tied to the West even with the jewish or egyptian influence.
Were both Christianity and Enlightenment what killed the development of more recognizable western occult tradition? (I fucking love Science!)

Yes, what is known as Western esotericism is classical hermeticism.

Yeah, freemasonry. Hell, even Mormonism and everything that goes with that. Everything about the US government gets really weird really fast when you dive in.

There's also digital esotericism, which the West arguably developed and Temple OS is the biggest example of.

Qabalah started in Spain and southern France before going to the Holy Land. Chaos magick is British in origin. Western astrology began in Babylon, true, but most of the developments were in Greece and Italy. Geomancy, written about throughout Europe, is distinct in its tradition of interpretation from al Raml and Ifa. The grimoires come from Western European countries even if their antecedents are Egyptian and their lore Hebraic.

the western garden is a heavily salted field its true, while the currents that became those eastern religions are in large part descended from the west you would be hard pressed to see how christianity and hinduism are brother faiths.

big problem of the west was that its occult knowledge was systemically genocided several times over by many forces still active today, another factor is Europe having only recently thawed out from under an ice sheet had little time to truly develop its own knowledge beyond its tribal middle eastern roots that themselves seem largely forgotten even in their own times
while rome eagerly took up what the greeks knew christians rise to power destroyed everything they could get their hands on while bringing jews in their wake as a protected class that would eagerly poison whatever wells were left not to mention early writing was dependent on parchment that under the iron fist of the emerging sultans was priced far out of a peasants reach in the wake of these three forces what little remained was often passed through all threes censors and the christian faith being naught more than an illiterate bandits hoard had little to offer besides its own pilfered texts the censors failed to understand well enough to truly disarm.

you can find a nice catch of some of what they killed in the berserker cults looking up somafera and there were plenty of barrows under the ice with everburning lamps those priests of ignorance destroyed too wherever they could find them.

this post has some secular western rediscoveries of bioenergy that will give you a much better idea of what these arts should be capable of than any sniveling wretch too cowardly to face the destruction in their masters wake will ever dream is possible

while the east has its own problems its infuriating to deal with the west just on how sickeningly they cling to legacies of utter malevolence
I well and truly despise christians

It's up to you to build it. Take Tarot for example. What if there were supposed to be 24 trumps in the Greater Arcana rather than 22, just as in early decks there were often six court cards in each suit rather than four? The link to kabbalah came about due to Rosicrucian and Golden Dawn obsession with everything jewish. Small wonder, since so many founders of those and other societies were freemasons. Don't throw out everything the ancients of Europe developed just because later on semitophiles desecrated the systems. Dig in and sift through the stuff and figure out what is true and what is not. Back to Tarot. If there were actually 24 trumps and two were removed early on, then the cards would correspond with the Elder Futhark. I've been working out correspondences between the Runes, the AEsir, Tarot, the classical Elements, and the Zodiac. Everything is meshing amazingly well whenever I discover and remove whatever hebrew nonsense has been embedded in the systems. Elemental correspondences match perfectly between descriptions of the worlds bordering Midgard, the phonetic spelling of the Allfather's name, and ancient Greek charts. The cards are universal archetypes developed in northern Italy. Only the images and Waite's interpretations bear semitic corruption.

>beyond its tribal middle eastern roots that themselves seem largely forgotten even in their own times
Northwest of the Black Sea is hardly "Middle Eastern." And going further back, the earliest examples of Human intelligence were found in northern Anatolia, not Mesopotamia. The only reasons Sumer is still considered the first civilization by academia at large are the fact that non-agrarian societies were ignored outright and there is overwhelming pressure from certain groups to never admit that civilization is an inherently European development.

>>
>>The earliest references to tarot all date to the 1440s and 1450s and fall within the quadrilateral defined by the northern cities of Venice, Milan, Florence, and Urbino. Because of the complicated nature of the game by that point, it is likely that it had begun evolving earlier in the century. Tarot cards employed the standard Italian suits, with values from 10 to 1 and with four face cards—king, queen, knight, and knave—for a total of 56 cards. Alongside them were a fool (matto), which was a wild card, and the 21 trump cards.

Tacking kaabalah onto the tarot is some modern post golden dawn bullshit

Your first problem is the out of Africa theory there is high ghost hominid admixture in niggers that conflicts with that theory and far more evidence of Caucasian drift downward with Coptic Christianity than any significant movement outwards until arabs wrecked their genepools with negress slaves.

Second is did you miss me saying there was a whole fucking ancient European society that was thawing out from the last ice age by the time we got there that had a fucking low grade of perpetual energy our fucking priests were working with jews to destroy every trace of!

We have been lied to on a scale beyond your imagining about our past at this point evolution itself is questionable creationists have it completely right that a fish turning into a land creature is bullshit, our tree of life is mostly fraudulent, and in observable cases of accelerated evolution like the Russian fox domestication experiment traits exhibit far too much interconnection too much changed too uniformly from just selection for friendliness for evolution as we are told to exist

Academics of religion generally regard western esoterism to be rooted, first of all, on Greek practices, but above all, in western interpretations of eastern traditions.

So while yes, a lot of "western" esotericism superficially seems to be eastener, it is practiced in a very different way in the West, so it is therefore unique to the west.

>Greek philosophy? Mostly absorbed by Christian theology in the West.
So...this is the western esotericism you are looking for.
Western ideals were so good the semitic faith adopted and replaced their own silliness with it.
And those western ideals grew into western civilization.

I don't know if there's a name for this, but I've met people who study the histories, languages, archaeological remains, genetics, myths, and philosophies of the Indo-European peoples. I'm one of them. Our goal is to understand how traditional Indo-European thought has evolved - from the days of the Yamnaya and Afanasievo cultures, to the days of their descendants all over Eurasia, to the modern day. The study thereof requires you to dabble in metaphysics, the historiography of science, memetics, and the natural sciences, because the underlying theories gets very abstract very fast. Back in the 19th century, this "western esoteric" practice was called Ariosophy, but those people's beliefs were either disproven or made obsolete by new discoveries, so it's not really called Ariosophy anymore. Anyway, it's one of the few occultist movements that actively gets censored, so you know there's real shit going on.

The western traditions died out completely. There are people that larp as druids but it’s completely made up or based on dubious claims from unfavorable sources. What survive from those traditions is grandmothers talking about fairies or monsters to scare children, but that tells you nothing of the actual ancient ritual tradition or metaphysical philosophy. Things like the Eddas point to a tradition without going into much detail, especially on ritual. This is why pagans often look to Hinduism and other traditions to try and basically “reconstruct” but they really are just creating something new entirely. The Norse borrowed a lot from the Sami tradition but I’m not sure on what modern Sami practice looks like or if you would count that as eastern or western or if it hasn’t been altered by Christian influence.

Esotericism doesn't come form people or culture, it comes from nature. When you find the keys then everything in the world is your own, there is no east nor west, north nor south. Its all a unified whole that you can use as your own culture, because it is.

People don’t like it because it’s not “glamorous” but ordinary Christianity is “western esotericism.” The further and more genuinely one commits to it, the higher you climb and the more esoteric it gets. Eventually the Holy Spirit is like the little fairy from the legend of Zelda that follows you around telling you where to go and what to do and you can go on magical quests in the kingdom of heaven. The scriptures attest to this, often describing things like, “they can’t understand my parables because of their hard hearts.” Well that’s the exoteric/esoteric distinction. the “esoteric” part, is that the “hidden teachings” are “hidden” plainly in the Bible. But they’re spiritually sealed up from any unworthy eyes and you can only unseal them or receive the true interpretation through this Holy Spirit I’ve alluded earlier. And I have a feeling that it never ends. Even with things like freemasonry you reach a maximum rank like 33rd degree or whatever. But with Christianity, it’s from everlasting to everlasting. As you rank up in esoteric knowledge, (and you are one with God) God himself ranks up proportionately with you and generates more for you to know. all these things I believe to be true, but any errors are my own. Amen

Yes there is.

Also, "eastern" flavoured stuff like Goetia was only Christianized in the middle ages. A lot of the methods have their roots in the practices of a type of Greek sorceror called a Goes (there was one on Jason's ship, as well as on Odyseeus' ship).

It does but it's pretty informal, what you've described is some peculiarity from the Orient that's highly systematized and which white people liked picking apart. If you go to Southern or Eastern Europe, you'll find people who practice all sorts of witchcraft but escape the public eye for obvious reasons.

In fact, those are in a way more esoteric because any 12 year old on the internet can read about Rosicrucianism or Kundalini.

any sign anyone in the west understood let alone improved an eastern practice cause the east is still loosing what it knows by generation and thats still miles better than the west is doing at this point
>>
>>39127604
The Western way is more symbolic and harder to grasp because it's an expression of Christianity and it's not really "ocult" - it's just implied in the exoteric. The true nature of Esotericism is this - the secret is not in the symbol but in the meaning of it. The Truth may be grasped, but never fully know. It's an infinite journey and you go as far as your capabilities allow it.
>>
>>39127604
Dude, all the secret knowledge comes from the east. Especially places like Tibet and India. Somehow these places have preserved ancient secrets. But understand, all the occult stuff in the west comes from the east.
