I'm actually impressed its believable that he was probably a pretty strong fighter before he took on the storehouse with those reflexes. If Hakuri wasn't supporting Chihiro he would have exploded a long time ago. I'm very satisfied with what Kyora can do compared to my impression when Chihiro and Shiba effortlessly pulled up on him at the start of the arc.

The infiltration part of this arc was pretty undercooked, though I imagine Hokazono was told to move things along just in case. All that separated pedestrians from the most sacred Sazanami grounds were a few flights of stairs, guarded by fodder and a few quickly-dispatched Tou (and the farmer.) Aside from the worry about having any casualties, it's hard to imagine why the Kamunabi would have feared going to war with the Sazanami family at all.I think Hokazono should have made the layout of the Rakuzaichi grounds more complex. Even just adding a few hallways and diverging paths would have helped with the pacing in this aspect.There needed to be a counter to Shiba too, because him stomping the entire Tou minus Souya slackened the stakes. One way could have been adding more Tou, so that Shiba would be forced onto the defensive. Another could have been buffing the current Tou to all be as threatening as Souya, but in their own ways. But Isou is too specific, just a shockwave blast. It should have been something more general, like wind or sound manipulation, so that each Sazanami could have their own spin on it.I do believe that this arc showed just how good he is at character work. Mr. Inazuma became a fan favorite in half a chapter, Hakuri had the strongest development of the series, and Kyora is a surprisingly complex villain for Jump. In this way Kagurabachi is kept fresh, because more complex characters allows for more complex storytelling. This started off as "a shounen auction arc" and it developed into a patrilineal revenge story / exploration of generational trauma. It's easily a step up from the Sojo arc, even if it needed some work still.Excited to see how it all wraps up.
