It is kinda crazy when you think how big the time gap between the six generals actually is. Flazzard dies fairly quickly, then the next death is Baran like four arcs later.
Fuck it, blogpost time. Call me a faggot, I don't care.I watched the original Dai anime when I was a kid, and Avan's death impacted me deeply when I witnessed it. I'm not sure that it was the first time I saw a major likable character heroically sacrifice himself to protect those he cares about (in fact, it most likely wasn't, not even in anime), but the way it was executed really impressed me. Not even kidding, I would think about it every once in a while for close to twenty years.That is, until I decided to read the manga around 2013 or so, and man what a fucking trip that was when I got to this point. I didn't care that it was an asspull or whatever, and let's be fair, it was. Even so, I felt exactly what Dai and the other disciples felt at that moment, that joyous feeling of reuniting with a loved one that you believed to be gone, except for me it had been close to two decades rather than a few months.A few years ago, I got to share that with my older brother, who also watched the show back then, though it was through the new anime. He actually started crying, and thanked me for sharing that moment with him.That's why, asspull aside, I'm ok with his return, along with the fact that it made for the best possible wrap-up for Hadlar's arc. I know others feel differently for various reasons, but this is just my perspective.

This is one of the best damned closures and Hadlar's story couldn't have come to a proper close without it.
