>>275229504Good joke, that one.
>>275229869I don't know about favorite but I've turned around hard on Yamahisa after his sleazy introduction. He really tries to see eye to eye with his artists and bring out the best in them.

>>275229159If this was in Jump this would be super axebait
>>275229336Man, Aoki got first place in the rankings, I don't think trap ever managed that. Also, It's strange how she keeps getting cuter the more she opens up, I usually find it to be the opposite way around with characters like her. >>275230462Attack on Titan had less then stellar art, but was carried by it's dark story. I think it's similar to that. >>275229504>She'd never do something like that.I mean, she did con a guy into seeing his ex when she knew he had a girlfriend right? She's kind of dumb sometimes.>>275229895It's a dirty joke to see if they're paying attention.
>>275231091>Attack on Titan had less then stellar art, but was carried by it's dark story. I think it's similar to that. No, because it's claimed to be good (And it's Nizuma), but the art doesn't really reflect that.
>>275229869>who's your favourite editor?yamahisa, the gamer, the connoisseur of pantyshots>Who's the worst?i think we should kill miura
>>275229869Favourite is Yoshida.Worst is that guy who was whining, that his guy had to compete with Ashirogi
>>275229559Female autism is frightening
>>275229559He should drop out of the manga business and marry Myoshi anyway, just to spite her
>>275229684>other artists will complain if he gets two seriesMost of them barely keep up with their own series. They're just gonna think "Is this guy a monster?" or "Is he trying to kill himself?". The real problem is if some nuts get inspired by it and think they can do it too and compromise their ongoing series to make more submissions.
>>275229627Yoshida continues to be the most based and perceptive.
>>275229159I'd be a lot more sold on this if the main kid wasn't so god damn lame looking.

>>275233377(for his own benefit)
>>275229116Mikami?
>>275233540eh he does profit from it but he tries to bring them up when they fail unlike Mirua with Takahama who just gave up on him.
>>275231740>>275229159Personal taste, of course, but I think that Tanto is the best MC design that Mashiro made. Trap was his self insert, the PCP kids are bland as fuck and Reversi characters were BW edgyboys

>>275234228I don't remember caring at all about Iwase when I was younger but now I see I was wrong
>>275229336https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRr5EasAq84Girls just wanna draw manga
>>275229869>Done for the day, who's your favourite editor? Skillwise, I believe it's Yoshida > Hattori-A > Yamahisa. But my favourite is actually Yujiro. One of the sweetest moments in the entire story is Fukuda expressing how grateful he is after Roadracer Giri gets a confirmed anime adaptaion.>Who's the worst?Technically, Kosugi, but there are extenuating circumstances in his case. Otherwise, clearly Miura and Aida, who seem to only get authors to succeed in spite of themselves.
>>275233332This just shows how bad she is at managing a company. Anyone with some backbone would have tardwrangled crazies or fired them for their incompetence.
>>275229869Yoshida, obviously.Just look at what he did to Hiramaru's life
>>275230383Sounds more like Gash Bell to me
>>275233377He certainly puts in the time. Kind of nice to see him go from "wow I can't stand to be in the same room as this guy" to "I am going to go visit him every day to rebuild him." And despite his initial carefree sleazy impression he's supported Aoki pretty well.
>>275235168>who seem to only get authors to succeed in spite of themselves.Dude, what?Perm Hattori got Eiji and does virtually nothing of value.Miura at least managed Ashirogi to get their first first place
>>275229159Evil woman sexo
>>275231052If Robocco can win the gagbowl Tanto has a chance
>>275235910>Perm Hattori got Eiji and does virtually nothing of value.Eiji would get to the top under any management, but once the issues with Crow's serialization get resolved, Yujiro does his best to let his detached-from-reality artist thrive. And by the time Eiji gets serious about making Crow/Zombie number one, Yujiro is a good source of feedback. What's more, Fukuda is a very consistant rival number two/three for Ashirogi (along with Hiramaru). And Yujiro definitely had to keep Fukuda in line multiple times. There is a lot to say about people's skills in the editor's job. Just seems like a nice guy to get a cup of coffee with.>Miura at least managed Ashirogi to get their first first placeTheir second first place, Trap got joint first place in Akamaru under Hattori. Unfortunately, his achievements end there. I do feel bad about Takahama essentially doing his courtroom drama all on his own.
>>275229239Does Miura ever have good ideas or suggestions beyond saying it's good and add more gags?>>275229287I like the way Hattori gives feedback.
>>275234456she's an actually interesting character unlike the other female cardboard cutouts
>>275236266>Unfortunately, his achievements end thereBecause he barel gets any focus anymore afterwards. As soon as Ohba perfectly makes the reader understand that gags are bad, he completely drops him.
>>275236573She is actually the dumbest bitch of the cast.
>>275236662she isn't Azuki
>>275235462Maybe, but if we're going with mainstream stuff outside of Japan, that seems like the easy comparison to make. Not like Pokemon invented monster growing either.
>>275229336Imagine the smell of the room. I bet it smells of roses, tea and scones >>275229415They're lucky Aida is Hattori's supervisor. Someone like Yoshida would have probed a background check on Moneys
>>275236662yes she's a stupid bitch but that still makes her an interesting character. I like that she's proactive in actually doing a manga and then trying to fuck Hattori
>>275236980What exactly is interesting about this? She just feels like Ohbata completely forgot about her and the shoved her back last minute to be a half as rival for Tagaki and like so many characters she doesn't really have any conclusion.
>>275237132being a psychotic bitch and trying to one up your former one sided ex out of pure spite at his own game is pretty interesting
>>275236407>Does Miura ever have good ideas or suggestions beyond saying it's good and add more gags?I thought he was decent during Trap telling them to calm the fuck down over ratings and not to pander
>>275236618I wish. We get to see Miura enact Hattori's ideas throughout the entire next serialization arc, with his sole contribution being adding "and Looks" to the "Money and Intelligence" concept. And THEN he becomes the whipping boy for Iwase.Very grim overall. It is a shame, since we do get to see many good sides of Miura - talent for organization, logistics, loyalty to the company, passion for hard work, eye for statistics... It just does not lend itself to the actual editing part of his job. I wish we've seen him transfer to a different division and play more of a support role of a different kind later on. Same with Nakai, dammit>>275237132Chapter 99 is Iwase's arc conclusion and it's the best damn chapter in the entire manga. Of course, instead of ending the manga with PCP getting an anime, we get to wade through a lot of unnecessary bullshit, and +Natural's later slump is very much a part of it.
>>275237132kinda seems like there was always a plan to bring her back, there are more characters that seem more half-assed than Iwase like Nanamine
>>275229336gotta love the trio
is the live action any good? I never hear it mentioned
>>275237584I watched it and was going to a few threads ago, it wasn't very good and I didn't like the way they rearranged and compressed stuff but it had some cool new original stuff for it. whole thing should still be on Dailymotion
>>275237750what new original stuff did they add?
>>275237373I thought this was from some yaoi parody, the artsyle really changed overtime
>>275229445>I can only focus on myself right nowAnd there's your problem Miura. You're trying to get your authors serialized instead of helping them make great manga. As EiC says, if something is good it will get serialized.
>>275238088Alternate manga by the characters
>>275237358Yeah with a little reworking that would have been a good climax followed by an epilogue to tie up loose ends. From what I remember the rest of the manga is still a fun read but doesn't quite live up to the buildup and payoff there.
>>275238124Obata really settled on a much softer style for Bakuman as it went on. Early on it still looks a lot like Death Note or Hikaru no Go
>>275229239I think I'm starting to see where Miura becomes tiresome. Suggesting that Mashiro and Takagi break up was really bad, but he regretted it instantly and it was over quick. But now it really feels like all he does is laugh at how funny their gags are and suggest more gags.
>>275233377What? When was he a scumbag to Aoki? Or do you just mean that initially he seemed like a sleazy guy?
>>275229869I still think Hattori is my favorite, but Yamahisa has grown on me a lot.Not too fond of Miura, but that might just be because he's the only editor who we get to see the worst of.
>>275229370>>275229415I've gotta admit, when we first got introduced to this character, I'd never imagined he'd actually become a "I can fix him" person.
>>275229336Aw, that's nice.
>>275238848sleazy, he wasn't really hitting on her or anything
>>275238885I used to like Hattori but second time around reading this he comes off abit marysueish
>>275238848He tried to pose as "i can seduce her to make shounen again" in a sleazy way and he provokes Miura withhout an apparent reason, but as the story goes on shows that he's not a bad person.>>275237358Didn't Miura help Takahama in that arc when 0everyone trying to beatdown Crow 1st place spree? Maybe I'm remember wrongly, but I have this memory of them both discussing a plan, or something.I get the impression that he helped Takahama throughly with this series, but I also remember vividly him being an asshole and tossin +Natural aside>>275235168>kosugiWoah, that guy pissed me off so much that i've entirely forget about him. Let's see if this hate was justified when the time comes
baku
>>275236407He helped Takagi's writing get less rigid and add more levity and he was more reasonable when Mashiro was hospitalized without being completely on EiC's side. He's just been derailed by the gag stuff, which isn't bad advice in itself. Takagi gaining range in his style is valuable for rounding out his qualities as a writer even if Takagi's taste is painfully vanilla in gags.
>>275240057I've noticed the same, the biggest flaw he has is him refusing to insert himself when others are struggling when it's not his problem. But then he's the one who got +Natural going to light a fire under Ashirogi, which is also not his problem either, so he's at least consistent with his favoritism. I'd love to see a dynamic more like Yoshida and Hiramaru, where the editor actually loathes the author themselves and maybe even doesn't enjoy the work themselves but sees the quality and tries to foster it.
Im noticing that this manga is at its best when theres no serious drama (Ohba fucking stinks at that for the most part, thats what Takagis shitshow last week showed me) and its instead more of the mangakas/editors being in a friendly competition or even like Hattoris little scheme getting the whole bunch more motivated.
>>275242258You're in for some bad times in the future.
>>275242320Just let me enjoy it while it lasts.
>>275229559
>>275241583>Takagi gaining range in his style is valuable for rounding out his qualities as a writer even if Takagi's taste is painfully vanilla in gags.it should have just been his own idea for them to do fantasy and other genres to broaden their range and not Hattori
>>275242258I'm hoping the later drama will at least be able to interesting to talk about rather than just plain retarded
>>275241634I would have been nice if he just stayed in the role of trying to foster competition for Takagi instead of going back to being their editor
>>275244669>>275244740Wholeheartedly agreed.
>>275241210bump
>>275229287I like how Akina seemed like a perfectly reasonable girl up to this point >>275229559.
>>275241583Also he smashed Takagis idea right from the beginning, to follow their fans exact wishes.
>>275247102she gets even more psychotic later which is great
>>275233377the only real sleazy thing he tried to do was sell Aoki as a pretty mangaka, but his actual interest in Aoki was purely professional
>>275238320it's not really softer, actually the opposite, he is doing a lot more sharper edges. Instead, it goes away from more realistic features to a more stylized artstyle.
>>275240241>Didn't Miura help Takahama inI might be misremembering, but I only recall Miura doing background cheerleading at the time, while Takahama put in all the work and tricks. Either way everyone failed to stop Eiji, so there's that.
>>275241583It's not the gag stuff that derailed that derailed him but the pressure to get series published. He only latched onto gags because he once heard in the office that jump didn't have enough manga aimed at children and that it's possible to have long running series with hag manga even with middling results.Reading it weekly I hated Miura for being a plot device whose sole purpose was to make Ashirogi fail. Reading it again now, I still dislike his role in the story as the fall guy, but I understand this is a man under immense pressure who barely produced any results at his job in almost 3-4 years and barely gets any support from his peers (Hattori) and superior (Aida).
>>275229869Thank you for posting.
>>275229869Thank you OP! Probably Yamahisa.
>>275229627lol he didn't even try to hide his identity
>>275237132She's currently the closest thing this series has to an actual villain, being a rival but not with good intentions, and based on what i hear she does later, the conflict is compelling rather than the friendly rivalries ashirogi has with other artists. "villain" might be a strong word but you know what i mean.
>>275254380I doubt he was trying very hard, he wanted them to know
>>275254380He didn't need to do a good job. He just needed them to not think it was him long enough to read it.
>>275255953NTA but I'd agree with that assessment.
Soon?
Here I am bakubros. TodayChapter 72: Complaint and Declaration
Kek this bitch
>>275260806>I'll have Oda do a second series! That's a funny thing to say when Oda had literally one (1) hit series. It's not like an author putting out a good series is an indicator they can do it again, look at fucking Kishimoto
>>275261060Oh silly anon, Kishi never had a good series
This is losers cope btw
>>275261121OK I should've said popular series, you knew what I meant
>>275261346I do, I'm just busting your balls
And done, this chapter was actually pretty fun. Maybe, just maybe, Ohba should give gag manga a try. Whaddya think?See you tomorrow
>>275261065>>275261065 based yoshidacute feet
One thing I'm not sure how I feel about yet is that lately it seems like Mashiro and Takagi spend 90% of each chapter in "silly face" mode.
>>275260731
>>275261281>accepted revisions from Hattori>admitted that Eiji's changes made the manga better>now does thisThis has bypassed believable autism and gone straight to "the author just wants you to dislike this character" desu
>>275261761>"the author just wants you to dislike this character"After Miura and Nakai it shouldn't be surprising
>>275261838Nakai's sendoff seemed to imply a hope for redemption and last chapter had the EiC go to bat for Miura though.
>>275260844Iwase never loses (including her virginity)
>>275261015I really like the main trio when it's just them goofing off
>>275261694You just don't understand the essence of gags
>>275261060that is your issue, and not that Oda, even back then, had health issues due to overworking?
>>275261761there is a difference between an editor, a partner and your freaking rivals.
>>275261397I love it with Eiji is serious
>>275261480>I *heart* Miho>I *heart* Saikookay, that is kinda cute, wish it were canon
>>275260806Oda being the workaholic he seems to be would tell him to let him instead do two chapters per magazine, then probably keel over and the next clone needs to be brought in.
>>275261121Yoshidas powerlevel continues to be unfathomable.
>>275260731CUTE stuck-up bitch
>>275261438Oh no, parking laws, the only thing stronger than Yoshida-san.
>>275261438hiramarubros...
>>275261480I assume it's a resistance band or something but I thought Ohba Azuki was playing the accordion
>>275262961but of course
>>275261397>>275261351It feels like it's been awhile since we've gotten final boss Nizuma vibes.
>>275260932Even his assistant is shipping them
>>275261761She's a stuck-up bitch, but she's not necessarily wrong. Why would she listen to what mere inferior media writers like mangaka have to say about her story.
>>275261480>kintoreMiho can beat anons in a fight no diff
>>275261231Why are they using moonspeak? Did they greet each other in English in the original and this was the translators trying to localize it?
>>275261351Everyone else is worried about being BTFO, while Hiramaru is just worried about Eiji's health, unconcerned about the additional competition. Now that's a true friend and a worthy rival.
>>275260806Here's the REAL plan. Oda does two chapters of One Piece instead of one.Maybe the series will reach an end before the world does.
>>275260884Two autists should hit it off well, right?
>>275261121Hiramaru and Yoshida are the best pair in this series and it's not even a competition.
>>275261231Sorry, was he hiding inside a full trashbag for this?Gross.
>>275270409Sour grapes
>>275261761Hattori and Eiji are working on the series, the rest are not.
>>275261158Aoki its like you havent even met her before.
>>275269399Maybe just to highlight the difference between the two greetings?
>>275270409He wanted the essence of Nakai to be with them.
>>275260695>oh jesus I'm shitting myself that this prodigy that effortlessly creates popular manga has a series and draws for another this isn't fair this isn't right he can never manage this pace this has never happened before holy fuck i->>275260731>yeah some guys used to do 3
>>275261312This whole thing works with the strange notion that readers cant read more than one manga.
>>275271380Old times were different, to be fair, but it's not relevant in if he should or should not be allowed to do that.>>275271761You only get 3 votes per week, so it does run the risk of "Eiji fans" having to split the votes, unless they vote for both.
>>275260695I find it hard to believe editors would care that much an artist is doing 2 series.
>>275261281she came all this way not knowing why they were meeting up?
>>275261397Eiji continues to be the best character
>>275272413Perhaps she assumed it was some sort of congratulatory party for her and Eiji and Takagi was there to kneel and admit he was wrong about everything and beg her to acknowledge him despite his inferiority.
>>275272577He's great when he's not just simping for Ashirogi
>>275272388Their concern of an established author hedging out a newcomer is valid, especially since their job as editor is to vouch for incoming talent and get them serialized. While the mag should be publishing the best, they also should be fostering new authors as it fuels new stories and opportunities. Iwase may be a newcomer, but Eiji is an established powerhouse that will give her an immediate advantage in debuting, for the same reason Koogy's announcement was considered uncouth and scummy and the same thing Ashirogi basically did with their submission to the rookie competition. New authors already have to compete with the established monoliths, but an established author getting another concurrent series feels like special treatment. Imagine Mashiro and Takagi bust their ass on their pitch but after the meeting "yeah sorry 'Kino the Manga' didn't make it through, but they did start serializing 'Darker thn Bleach" by Kubo-sensei', who claims that since he doesn't need backgrounds he can draw twice the panels in a week as a normal artist." You'd feel like you were given a false chance.
>>275272388Well the biggest issue they have is not necessarily that Eiji would have two series, but the consequences of it. What if he overworks himself? What if the other mangaka leave the magazine because of this "unfair" treatment? How will this affect the votes and Eiji's other series?
>>275261480Thank you OP! I think Bakuman is funny but if it was a full-on gag manga it would get old very quickly. I don't think gags are Ohba's strong suit.
>>275274349Maybe his editor forced the gags on him.
>>275271997>>275272908All of this is only happening because the publisher is too cheap to expand their reader selection ?
>>275275455Run that question by me one more time but make it make sense?
>>275275658Is the limit for the amount of possible series only there because Jump doesnt want to increase printing costs ?
>>275261060That's crazy to think about. That Oda might write a flop if he ever finishes the biggest and most popular manga ever written.
>>275270215They're complete polar opposite flavors of autism.
>>275261121I love these two so much.
>>275271761Have you been in TOC threads? /a/ also works with this notion.
>>275274891>the entire arc was a cry for help
>>275261480>Maybe, just maybe, Ohba should give gag manga a try.
>>275261694I wonder if it's like a meta thing. When they're doing a gag manga they get draw in a gag style, then when they're doing more serious stuff they're drawn seriously.
>>275229159momo can get it
>>275260806retarded thinking some low level editor can just demand fucking Oda do another series for him
I think it's a big missed opportunity never having any of the real mangakas making a cameo. Like they mention Oda several times but he never shows up. Like Ohba/Obata could have inserted themselves as a cameo too.
>>275275881That's definitely a factor. Extra pages individually might be cheap, but across hundreds and thousands to millions of regular issues, those extra pages would need to be justified with either increased buyers or advertisers to offset the cost. Plus, having a more limited number of concurrent series also drives competition in the artists so they try to put their best stuff out there. 19 pages from 20 series a week is already about 400 pages, so 200 sheets not counting the covers which are separate material and barely impacted by increased pagecount. An extra 10 sheets per issue may not feel like a lot but it's possible they only want to spend that with series debuts to offset the risks. Page layout alone in magazines is a lot of work as well and more series is more to juggle with ordering and more competition on the ratings so they'd have to change the criteria on that system too. It's a ton of extra work for maybe potentially having an extra hit? Versus something like Jump SQ and + having digital only titles that thus have way less pressure and get their room to shine on their own with directly observable viewer counts based on page hits.
>>275272783I can see her being deluded enough to believe that
>>275272908eh that's just how it is though. Like if I was a rookie actor trying to get into a movie but then they were like, "Sorry, we got Brad Pitt instead" I would be sad but it's understandable. I wouldn't choose me over Brad Pitt either. The quality of the product should matter the most
>>275229919Yeah, the final design is way too attractive.
>>275274891>editor thinks the gags and shitting on Mirua are funny and tells him to make more
>>275276260If Oda ever wrote another one it'll fail worse than Kishi's Samurai 8. OP is boring as fuck now
>>275261312>>275261281Himura is acting scummier than Nakai but only gets a pass because he is too much of a pussy to act on it
>>275261121is he serious about that TIffany necklace? Or is it just some cheap knockoff he's tricking him with?
>>275276907It's a very different situation when we're talking about a field like comics versus something like acting.
>>275276964That could be just because he's been writing that shit for decades.Maybe something fresh would be better.I doubt he'll ever make anything again though, outside of one-shots or short stories, like Toriyama did.
>>275270304saved for the ages
>>275270304faster
>>275275881jump is already well into "hey i want to read less than a quarter of these comics, why can't i buy a magazine with just those?"
>>275277052Scummier? Hiramaru's maybe being a bit more shallow, but Nakai explicitly attempted to pressure a girl into dating him in exchange for helping her succeed in her career. Hiramaru just wants to give her a gift and show off his fancy car. They're on completely different levels.
>>275277908I would argue manga is easier, there are a ton of other magazines too, not just Jump
>>275279550they both only like Aoki for her looks, they don't care about her personality at all
