>Nominal wages in Japan rose 3.1% year-on-year in February 2025, picking up from a downwardly revised 1.8% increase in January and matching market expectations. The stronger wage growth offered a positive signal for the domestic economy, which faces growing pressure from global trade tensions.

Not really, it's just that IWM has been falling since November where as the SPX has been falling only since late February. IWM is a more forward looking and leading indicator than the SPX, so nothing too unusual here.

>31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
>32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

>>60159334
>Wouldn't people order that shit less in a recession?
>>60159377
>People aren't going to use doordash in a slowing economy.

checked, but then again I'm not so sure. Certain industries like lingerie, sex toys, alcohol, and tobacco tend to do well in recessions as people utilize these vices to cope with their depression.

As someone who worked for DD corporate, and before that actually delivered as doordash driver from 2018 to 2021...I can tell you that most of the people getting food delivered to their homes are lower middle class or poor. People who make 100k+ are not ordering mcdonalds to their door multiple times per week. But the people who are making 40k a year or less are ordering it all the time.

Why is this? I'm not sure exactly but I think it has to do with time and the perceived feeling of luxury. A rich person either has a stay at home wife that cooks, or they "work" for 8 hours from home at their email job and have ample time to cook and prepare food.

The single mom of multiple children working 2 minimum wage jobs to pay rent is squeezed on time, and when she gets off work she doesn't want to spend an hour cooking dinner, nor does she want to take an hour or two out of her weekend to shop for lots of groceries. Instead she orders Doordash so she can be at home with her kids instead of paying more for a babysitter or daycare service. This goes double for those who are too poor to own a cheap used car.

It's just like why doordash got so popular during covid that they made enough money to expand rapidly and go public. People lost their jobs in 2020, but now they were at home all the time, and even among the wealthier classes, instead of spending $5k on a vacation to Colorado or Mexico, they were just sitting at home, which made getting food delivered more appealing.
>>
Imagine I owned some small caps. Would I be fucked right now?
>>
>>60159464
Yea, but that’s far from the whole story. There’s also some internet luck, but I think you are grossly underestimating the bipartisan work he put in. He reached across the isle and worked with the other party to cut costs, and it paid off handsomely.
>>
>>60159503
I'm shorting them tomorrow, so it's either you or me.
>>
>>60159473
To add onto this, Doordash accepts EBT/Food stamps as a form of payment. It depends on where you are ordering from, but Doordash themselves accepts Food stamps for payment at their Dashmart delivery-only convenience stores. Many grocery stores, liquor stores, and gas stations like 7/11 that deliver on Doordash also accept EBT. This is another reason why the poor love to use Doordash and food delivery apps.

And again, "vice" industries do well in recessions. Look at Anheuser-Busch stock. In mid-2009 it was under $30 per share, by 2011 when we were still in a recession it was over $50 per share

>>60159390
>doordash is the ultimate amerifat treatlerite wasteful spending, if a recession does materialize I fully expect all the gig economy shit to implode

If this were true, then one would expect spending on alcohol and lingerie and other frivolous things to decrease dramatically during recessions, but the opposite is true

Honest question. I'm about 95% invested in the stock market right now. Mainly BRK.B and COST. Currently negative obviously.

I do not have a job and I only have like $3000 left in my bank account. Everything is in the market. My cost of living is $1500/month

Besides suicide, what do I do? I do own a gun specifically for killing myself, but obviously I dont need to just do that straight away.

Should I sell everything, half of everything, do nothing and just hold? Should I learn how to do puts/calls?

My strategy is just buying and holding, but because of the financial peril I'm experiencing, I can't just hold for years.

I really don't know how puts/calls works but I always see people making quick profits/losses from it. Maybe that's what I need to do in general?

PE is still 117 at that price. The hype for it is dead. The price is going back to the same price to revenue level it had before it rocketed up during the covid era

Tbh, ever since I fucked up in 2017/2018 I've been waiting to buy back into crypto when I started seeing news articles about real suicides. As a result, besides a few altcoins here and there I never bought back significantly since 2018. Now that a true dump appears inbound, I am considering buying. Whether the stock market or crypto, once I see multiple daily posts on reddit and major platforms about "my brother/uncle/father-in-law committed suicide because of market crash" , that's when I'm going to buy.

Am I a retarded asshole? When they said to buy when there's blood in the streets I took that literally

>i'm a turbo gigger. I'm a lyft driver that does doordash, and Instacart. I do at least two gigs at a time any given moment when driving...
>how fucked am I?

I don't think you're that fucked. That being said, don't screw up. The only problem with gig work is that if there is a major economic downturn, a shit-ton of newly unemployed people are going to sign up to be Uber/Doordash drivers. So if you aren't already on those platforms, you might not be able to work for them once your area becomes oversaturated with other gig workers.

These gig jobs are for necessities. People need rides. No one calls Uber just because they want to unless they're already rich. People order Uber rides because they don't own a car or their car is broken down (or the parking at their destination is non-existent or super overpriced). Or they order Ubers because they are drunk and don't want to risk a DUI. Even with a recession, that won't change, people will still need to go places, and everyone but giga-retards will still want to avoid a DUI

Doordash and food delivery is less certain. Those apps and services sprung up at the end of the last recession, so we don't really know how they will fare. Personally I am somewhat bullish, as I think of Doordash food delivery as a vice and luxury. It's the kind of thing that people order to experience fleeting luxury, to "treat themself" even if they are poor and financially have no business doing so, those are the people who love to treat themselves the most

You are in the transportation industry. Did people stop hailing taxi cabs in New York City in 2008? No, they kept getting taxis, but maybe they tipped less

Of course though, it was in that recession that "disruptive" companies like Uber launched. We could see another such disruption with self-driving vehicles, but I still think we're 5+ years away from that going mainstream
