yes, it depends, no
Most of the trading is programmed trading by big players who can drive stock prices up and down. Lots of news is fake and gay designed to drive the price up and down. General investing in ETFs like VOO or VGT is the way to go. Do your own research and understand what you are doing before buying. Lots of "chart experts" just read a book and then make vids and sell courses for suckers.

What your actual question? Nobody knows the future. But charts in the presence of genuine general knowledge and experience in many key areas that relate to human economic activity become keys. In the absence of such effort. They become loaded gun in a child’s hand (financially speaking). Crypto being the latest latter example.

Whats your actual question?

I suppose that’s the difference between an apple and a Berkshire. What company is more investable long term. With out the constant anxiety of market watching if your are busy with a job and a family. And you just need it to deliver a reasonable gain and not collapse to nothing when you rely on it.

A company that’s dependent of the supposed mercurial genius of one man. Or the company that has robust non aggrandising transfer of management without drama like Berkshire. Where after Buffet. There’s boring Buffet 2 and 3. Because it’s a culture and not a cult.

Tamping is a function of market depth, aka cap. Aka liquidity. The deeper a market gets. The more globally owned and decentralised from highly exclusive exchanges like the old London bullion market, then LBMA, then CME. The harder such things become.

Here’s an analogy I always liked being an engineer. And it’s just a fun analogy. Consider market depth/cap as mass for a moment.

Well the more massive a thing is. The harder it is for a smaller thing to exert a force on it.

But now consider one more dimension of the analogy. Mass can be centralised or distributed specially. So thing a 2000kg elephant. Or 2000kg of lead much smaller. It’s both a measure of the increasing mass (capitalisation in some denomination derived currency) of the market and the special distribution (global physical holdings).

But in the end. It’s mass and volume. And both dimensions are growing in gold (already huge) and silver (now exploding in this analogy).

I kept all my money in a high-yield savings account that earned 3.4% APR. My income from this will be taxed at 22%, which leaves my profit at 2.6%. Inflation this year was 2.7%, so my high-yield savings account resulted in a 0.1% negative return on my money this year.

Now I like Trump and his potential. But he’s basically shit on it. Scooped it up. Smeared it on his face. And anti-face-shit-smearing is antisemitism.

Cool whatever. But the fact remains. You can’t help the rent seeking class. And help the home owning class at the same time.

Especially if you’re helping disturbed tinpot states like Israel Taiwan and Ukraine. And Germany.

It's gambling because the house always wins. However, this house is made up of trillions, not millions. The petty thousands you make aren't even a drop in the bucket, unlike casinos. And it's based on real life games, not card games. It's gambling but you can win bigger basically. But the more money you have the bigger you win, so it's really not worthwhile getting into unless you have thousands or hundreds of thousands to begin with. And this is all long term options btw. Daytraders are degenerate gamblers in denial

Dear /smg/
Somehow my hotel WiFi doesn't block 4chan which is great!
My nightmares have 2 recurring themes: my father and jeets.
This night it started with my father but lately I've been "winning" which ends the nightmare. Later (closer to the morning) my nightmare was about a special spelunking themed toilet where the entrance was a small tunnel towards the toilet. For some reason the space right before the entrance was swarmed with jeets, many of them laughing. Grins, moustaches, staring eyes and curry smells. I looked through the entrance and there was a dwarf jeet stuck in the tunnel. It was hilarious! Anyway it was not immediately obvious that there was an alternative normal entrance with urinals that were way too close to each other, though some facing a different direction which gave some privacy. So anyway as I whipped out my massive shlong I saw all jeets followed me, some staring at my cock while queueing. I woke up as I started peeing, luckily not outside of my dream as I checked my bed for wetness.
Not the best not the worst.

What Is a Triple Net Lease? What Does NNN Mean?
The term "triple net lease", or NNN lease, is a type of commercial real estate lease agreement where the tenant pays a base rent to the landlord, as well as their own operating expenses directly to the service and utility providers. The "N" in NNN stands for “net of” or exclusion of certain expenses. These usually include utilities, property taxes, building insurance, and maintenance or repairs in common areas of the building - which is essentially the meaning of a triple net lease.

Covered call ETFs perform terribly after drawdowns, they dump as fast as the underlying index but since their vertical potential is capped they don't recover as fast.
Here's QYLE vs QQQ, notice how they completely diverge after April.

Yes after the huge crash they diverge badly. But very little of the volatility in QQQ is visible in QYLE for the last 2 months.
Anyway I dont propose it's something that's gonna make me or anyone rich, It's just something Im trying out in this volatile crab market.

How do I keep from roping myself?
I sat on cash and watched while silver etf were pumping. Finally bought high and it started dumping.
I had 5 minutes when I could have sold and have enough to not feel like a failure but I kept waiting. .I knew exactly how it was going to dump today.
Then instead of waiting, I sold all at huge loss today that I cannot afford.
Help me anons. Due to health I have to learn to make money from trading. My life has nothing good. How do I avoid roping myself?

Buy high sell low, the /smg/ way. I don´t touch PMs because the rocks don´t have cashflow so there´s no way of knowing fair value. If it dips all you can do is pray that it isn´t le big one. At least if a company goes down 20% I can still cope that its a good business and we´ll bounce back.

My retired father has around 2m USD in cash following the sale of his business. He went to a financial advisor who wanted him to invest most of it in some 80/20 equity/bonds fund. Seemed reasonable to me but they wanted to charge 1% themselves on top of the fund/platform fees. I told him to do it himself through Vanguard, except 60/40 as 80/20 seems too volatile for a 70 year old. Does that seem ok? He has enough income from various pensions that he likely won’t be drawing down on the investments anytime soon. I would have preferred to stay out of his affairs but apparently licensed professionals can’t be trusted not to be greedy cunts

yes. I have been to these financial institutions aswell, 1% fee is common and I also thought it was a rip-off because I asked them to show their performance on a graph comparing it to index funds and they just seemed to follow the market. I assume these institutions are mostly for boomers or people who are financially illiterate because I straight up asked them what they could provide better than an ETF and they gave some bullshit answers. The only reason I'd consider one of those institutions is because in my country there's a possibility to take out a loan using your portfolio as collateral with a favorable interest rate.

Look at SCHZ monthly. Notice how in 2022 it went down about 20%, along with equities. One of the talking points up until that point was how bonds are uncorrelated to equity market. Another was how relatively stable are they. Just grok it out, talking with AI is better than trying to google it, and certainly better than talking about it with so-called licensed professionals.

News flash: blackrock has just announced that they bought 97% of the world's salt water. They plan to use it cool down their AI servers.
The rest of the world is now in a bidding war of the remaining 3%.
In a recent message Trump said that "Venezuela is taking our salt water. We once had the greatest salt water, american salt water, but Venezuela stole the salt water"
