It was also often used as a plot point in live action movies for that same reason. Cartoons tend to homage old hollywood tropes, hence hypnosis being common. Then I guess the internet happened and we all kind of naturally stopped doing that when we realized it made people horny. Same reason inflation or flattening are getting less common as sight gags.Besides the one in OP is an obvious Clockwork Orange reference since Mad Mod's VA played Alex.

As he did for the original GKND stealth social media campaign (discussed elsewhere on this site), he tapped me to create all the art for it, again in secret. There wasn't enough time to make a full animatic, but the idea was that I would capture certain key moments and visual gags, and that this media would be displayed on a big screen for the audience during the panel, either by itself as a backdrop, or with the voice actors narrating it, as appropriate.>Unfortunately, the Nostalgia con turned out to not only lack a big screen, but any screen at all... so the panel performed the table read by themselves, and none of the art or animation was shown. That's show biz, I guess.
I still don't like it or understand why the creator thinks this is such a good idea. It kinda goes against the whole appeal of the kids next door. They may fight crime and have sci-fi gadgets, but they are still average kids at the end of the day.
