>Already released>Not actual discussion within the cartoon youtubers and twitterWhat happen? i thought people liked Sugar, Ward, McHale and Jones-Quartey
>>151928022We've already talked about this multiple times on this board. I don't think there's anything else left to say about it.
>>151930711I would understand this if cartoons had pretty good writing but it's just so... unimpressive. Like it's not particularly bad but if the writing in most cartoons were used in any other medium it would be written of as mediocre to bad writing. Honestly it's the character design that attracts people to cartoons most of the time.
>>151928022>SugarMeh. Decent boarder and idea person but her shtick is long past worn out. I'm tired of gay little ukelele songs, learn a real fucking instrument.>PenCrazy weirdo that lucked out hard, zero talent, Midnight Gospel was offensive tripe.>McHaleHe's ok>JQLove him but this seems pretty unrelated to his projects There is no reason I would think this is worth watching.
>>151931903Most on the people into cartoons also don't have much experience with other mediums outside of fanfiction and fanfiction derived content, and so their standards for a good story are very uninspired and limited. When all you have experienced is a dull grey world, even the slightest bit of dogshit brown can be novel and exciting. But you do have a point about character designs. One of the most in my opinion insidious but effective exploits modern cartoons do is give the audience an appealing character design and enough of a character and motivation before giving nothing for months to let said audience do all the heavy lifting in regards to forming attachment by having them write their own version of the via headcanon.People are creative, but using your fanbases creativity as a crutch for ones lack of proper release pacing or work ethic rubs me the wrong way.
>>151928022>i thought people liked Sugar, Ward, McHale and Jones-QuarteyMost people here recognize them for being (at least partially) responsible for the prevalence of the worst trends in the animation industry from the 10s on.In any case, it feels like only McHale took the project seriously. Ward was decent setup, but felt phoned in an. Sugar and Quartey's short was entirely masturbatory navelgazing about her career. McHale managed to tell an entire story on his own and cap everything off in a satisfying manner. It was an interesting experiment, but it was still very much an experiment.>>151932031>One of the most in my opinion insidious but effective exploits modern cartoons do is give the audience an appealing character design and enough of a character and motivation before giving nothing for months to let said audience do all the heavy lifting in regards to forming attachment by having them write their own version of the via headcanon. That's more of an issue with indie animation than the medium as a whole, but you're absolutely right.

>>151925882Oh my God, this is so shit.
>>151925882looks like shit
>>151925882Cool to see they at one point tried something entirely new, but... I don't think this would've been very successful.
Dora was like Nick learned all the wrong lessons from Blue’s Clues. They knew they had a winner with the “interactive show” format but failed to realize that the reason Blue was beloved was because that show was quiet and treated kids with some amount of respect. Dora was yet another loud and obnoxious “get up and sing/scream” show meant to sell merch rather than actually teach anything or provide parents with a peaceful show to watch with their kid.
>>151925882The girl is unreasonably hot, especially in that first scene.
A thread dedicated to all that left us this year. This year's felt more like two squished into one, but if only because of how much of a god-damned bloodbath it's been for everyone. We've lost:>Clive Revill>David Lynch>Jonathan Joss>David Steven Cohen>George Lowe>Jim Smith>Gene Hackman>Harriet the Spy>Tony Benedict>Rob Reiner, Goo Extraordinaire>Fucking Sheen from Jimmy NeutronComment too long. Judge Dredd is a consequence of a diseased cell, and given the circumstances in which it was created, it tries to do the bare minimum necessary, ,to momentarily, correct the problem that surrounds it.
Judge Death was right.
>>151931671yes op, fascism is reactionary by nature, well done, you're almost ready to take remedial history
>>151931965>hurrpetty durr muh fascismHow can your brain be so near and yet so far. It's authoritarianism. Whenever you idiots are asked to describe fascism, you end up describing authoritarianism in varying severity. Which was sure as hell the core component of communist regimes. But hey, it's okay when you do it. You are right that *support* for authoritarianism is reactionary. Because when shit goes to hell and people's prosperity and safety is threatened, they want a tough bastard to crack down and fix the problem. Which is why in the third world the people rally around warlords and dictators, and which is why Trump is losing the republican voter. Because he didn't release the Epstein files, he isn't having ICE deport entire cities, and he isn't having the national guard fire upon the antifas. And it all has fuckall to do with OP's point. OP's point is that Dredd may be a caricature but he is the straight man of his setting. You just wanted to be hipster cunt and go "Umm Dredd is actually fascist? And fascism is reactionary which is, like, bad?"
>>151932053These kinds will never admit the similarities between most conceptions of communism and other authoritarian regimes because the end goal of the actions taken is the naïve belief in the undoing of the authoritarian model once everyone has communal thought to the level of not needing leadership anymore. Its pure ends justify the means logic.
>>151932121The political difference between Mega-City 1 and Sov-City 1 was Sov-City had 3 and not 5 Judges forming the ruling council.

1 > 3 > 2 > 4right?
>>151931115Interesting take
>>151930516I prefer 2 over 1 because almost all the characters have more to do and the villain is better
>>151930516Yes
>>151931115My major reason for not liking 4 is how it bastardizes the characters far beyond what 3 ever did. Especially Woody. The ending of 4 (and honestly Woody's entire arc in 4) completely spits in the face of absolutely everything Woody stood for through the entire trilogy and retroactively made both Pete and Lotso 100% correct. Also Forky is not a fun character nor is the new Bo Peep.
>>1519314722 is honestly better than 1 in almost every respect. The central conflict and theme of accepting mortal life vs leaving it for 'immortality' or otherwise being forced to let down those who've been seeking it their whole existence, is much more interesting and more than a matter of "getting over" jealousy and delusion. The jokes are also funnier and less gimmicky.>>151931667Pete was completely in the right the whole of 2 aside from right at the very end when they decided to make him a villain. He wasn't even a 'twist villain', he had every reason to believe and value what he did right up until there was an alternative, but the writers were seemingly too scared to have the other character cross someone as clearly well meaning as him without having him become 'evil'.
Why was Ben always so smug in the show? He always needed help to defeat his enemies. Also why is he so sexy?
>>151910516Perfection
>>151910516Impregnate.
>>151930159Just another example of all the missed potential this series has.

what if stolas and stellas roles were reversed?would that change the shows plot and events in any drastic way?
>>151930803What a doll.
>>151931934I love brown women.
>>151925511It isn’t an accident. Stella is simply a darker Stolas abused far more horribly in the background to the degree he doesn’t know about. Or else, he wouldn’t have ever sent her to her brother’s house.

Plastic Man is a timeless character
>>151930868Isn't it kind of ironic that Morgan used plastic surgery to trick Plas?
I like Reed.
>>151901021I only liked the Baker run. Not much character in the OG Cole run, not much character in the 80s revival. But more interesting in the Baker run, still a little on the bland side. He lacks more defining characteristics. And it doesn't help that Baker started sidelining Plas in the run itself to rant about the industry. It was fine when he did it. Much stronger than KC or that Superman story, but I wanted to read Plastic Man.
