>people that are above you are…LE BAD
>>152184378This.
>>152184247Alan Moore, britbong wizard and part time mall Santa, thinks (YOU) specifically are a stinky poopoo pants for worshipping Rorschach, the only morally correct character and connoisseur of canned beans who goes out of his way to make sure his bro's security locks are up to par.
>>152184247Well that's the thing, if superheroes were real they wouldn't be above us.
>>152184441It's very funny to me that Alan Moore wrote an American character snarfing down a can of baked beans and assuming Americans would understand.
>>152184247unironically yes. Anyone who is richer than me deserves death
I just need to rant. Why can't Hollywood just let Doom be Doom? I haven't watched the MCU since before Civil War. I don't give a fuck about it, but my social media feed is magically flooded with all these normies praising Iron Man as Doctor Doom... which is fucking retarded. It really is.Doom is the main villain of Marvel, pratically, the company was built on him in the early days. He has bigger mythos than most heroes at this point. Tons of content, tons of character and very established. He's not hard to fuck up -- yet every "adaption" Hollywood puts out just royally fucks him up and now Marvel is saying he's been Tony Stark all along (like Trask?)... This is just retarded. It's why I boycott the MCU.
>>152184583You could do it entirely without dialogue just by referencing both Iron Man and Strange in Doom's first appearance. Something like Doom striding down a corridor while his armor equips itself to him, then the cape and tunic manifest from the gold button buckle things on his chest, he makes a gesture with his hand and summons the teleport portal but green instead, he steps through on to a balcony on the castle to everyone in Doomstadt chanting his name
>>152184723You don't have to give a dismissive summary of his entire background. You can just reveal the parts relative to the story and leave it to be delved into later. That's extremely normal for stories. Sometimes the character's background hasn't even been completely written yet! Was Doom's fully formed in his first comic appearance?
>>152184404Because fuck comic books and fuck everyone who likes them. Get a real hobby you fucking nerds.
>>152184809That would work for, say, a TV series, but movies are a different animal. The story has to be able to stand on its own in a single entry. In one movie, you have to say "here's Doom, this is his deal" and accept that as a foundation. You have to frontload, among other things, his motivation. Fundamental things like his childhood and the deal with his mother have to be in the first entry or not at all; you can't just say he's an asshole in the first movie and then tell the audience why in the second.
>>152184802>Riri spends a whole show building her spell-punk magitech Iron Man suit>Doom walks up with better and asks why this child is pretending to be him
Storyboards intended for the NostalgiaCon table read:https://www.guymooreanimation.com/portfolio-collections/collection_0f809c/gknd-nostalgia-con>For his first convention appearance at Nostalgia Con in Houston in 2025, Tom Warburton, creator of the television series Codename: Kids Next Door, decided to do a live table read with four of the original series' main voice actors, performing a new script for "Galactic Kids Next Door"-- his take on what might have happened to the kids of Sector V in the time following the end of the original series. As he did for the original GKND stealth social media campaign (discussed elsewhere on this site), he tapped me to create all the art for it, again in secret. There wasn't enough time to make a full animatic, but the idea was that I would capture certain key moments and visual gags, and that this media would be displayed on a big screen for the audience during the panel, either by itself as a backdrop, or with the voice actors narrating it, as appropriate.>Unfortunately, the Nostalgia con turned out to not only lack a big screen, but any screen at all... so the panel performed the table read by themselves, and none of the art or animation was shown. That's show biz, I guess.

Website comment:>Friends! …maybe. We didn’t all part on the best of notes… Speaking of notes, throughout our tale you may notice an extra note waggling at you from beneath the comic page. Give it a click or a tap to check out pertinent historical clippings my archivists put together for you.>And now, without further ado, I’m honoured to announce the winners of Unsounded’s latest Fanworks Contest! Drumroll please…>For Fanfiction, please congratulate Serpenthyne in first place with her very well researched Mikaila AU story! In second place, please give a round of applause to zacksfairest, for her colourful Lemuel piece! In the Fanart category, I think we were all pretty blown away by Humming-fly’s animatic. First place for them! In second place is Nikaleles with their stunning illustration. I’ll contact the winners by email this week!>Thanks again to EVERYONE who entered. There wasn’t a single entry that didn’t make me giddy. Unsounded’s readership is insane with talent and creativity, and I’m humbled all the time to have you on this adventure with me :)>~AshleyPatreon comment:>Ruffles is reading Tip-Top Tom because she is a good inak who wants to internalize good and moral lessons from cartoon Gefendur goats.>Yes, that's dog poop.Comment too long. >>152184613I'm sad to see Lament got so few votes because I think writing an original song within the setting is more challenging than just singing a song directly from the comic. I guess it depends what you class as a fanwork, but Lament was to me clearly from the PoV of Sessine. I think I voted for Lament, the plushie and Just Another Child. I might have voted for the recipe over the plush though.Fanficwise I voted for Strawberry Seedling, which was probably my favourite, and I think the runner-up Lemuel one. I think a lot of the fanfics had neat ideas, like the Nora/Duane one, but I'm so used to the voices of characters in-comic that I sometimes struggled with parts I felt didn't fit.Overall I was impressed. I think almost every entry was imaginative and at least somewhat challenging to attempt.
