Did you know that Doug TenNapel was originally going to give the VeggieTales characters arms and legs?

>>151813414>Good cartooning veteran>Make great art for few video game series in the 90s>Have your funny cat show killed by nick because le bongebob>Never make another show again, never work in games again (except armikrog) >Never get Terry S. Taylor to do acapella again>Talent wasted on a show only the most autistic people on earth pretend is suitable for anyone but children who aren't allowed to watch them hateful fart cartoons and comics, alienating your former coworkers, and fucking NFTs. Shit angers me so much. Look, I appreciate people spreading the word of the lord as much as the next guy, but veggietales is a series that survives off direct to dvd movies. It is the lamest fucking franchise ever devised. The guy was one of my favorites growing up and it's disappointing to watch him turn into the drunk uncle of the cartoon industry.

>>151816881RepostingI wouldn't be surprised that past the fundie stuff (which he always had even before he went nuts), he's likely just jaded.Doug TenNapel has always been a critical darling and he's been praised by multiple artists for his versality as a renaissance man across various mediums and art formsHowever>His most well known and most overrated creation, Earthworm Jim, is a dead franchise he doesn't own>Catscratch got cancelled after one season>His live action Mothman film got canned and was reportedly a production disaster>Neverhood sold poorly in spite of its acclaim (still got a spin-off though)>Various film deals meant to adapt his works failed to be finalized>Armikrog didn't live up to expectationsAnd most damning of all>The best thing he's good at, comics, never earned him mainstream popularity. He was an underground darling and stayed that way.>IIRC he outright said most people at conventions would just ignore him or that only little kids bothered to get anything drawn by him.
Remember that time larry killed the drawn together cast, that sure was something. South park was so damaging to comedy in the early 2000s. So much stuff was funnier in the 90s trying to be simpsons and then Family guy started trying to be south park and then everyone tried being either south park of family guy and adult animation has only just barely recovered.
>oh hey Kal El. We know you haven't made the tech to restore the city yet but is it true that you have a friend who can shrink to microscopic size and back? Ray Palmer? Why not ask him?

>that one story where a group of kandorians got pissed that Superman wasn't helping so they broke out and just started killing people>took Superman 4 fucking issues before realizing people weren't dying from invisible bulletsDeserved to be quiet honest
>>151817720If that happened the story would have to deal with the consequences outside an epilogue and comics don't really have those.
The Loud House is an underrated, entertaining, funny, modern, visually appealing and profound masterpiece with outstanding characters like Lynn Loud Sr., the best thing is Lola Loud, but the rest is equally remarkable, one of the best Nickelodeon Animation Studio achievements ever.

Humor me. I've been following the comic for years now, and wondering how much charactor favorability predicts feelings on other characters, positive and negative. I polled other places like the official Discord, Tumblr, Bluesky, and Patreon. It was a lot of what you'd expect based on the echo chambers on each website, with some interesing discrepancies. But I wanted to see how people felt here because I thought I'd get the most interesting opinions.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdo6Opyjo4XL2ESLaSUrP7ggE_wzGfGDwj1nEFKP8X5cbCjrA/viewform?usp=dialogAbbey isn't here because I forgot to put him in the first poll I did, and I'm too lazy to fix it, lol.

>>151815672Even old BCB ads made references to date sims>>151815697They don't want people talking about it, and they specially do not want Abbey to know, since they don't know how he'd react. He only recently made peace with Paulo, but he hated how much of a womanizer he was.He also predicted (correctly) Paulo would be going for Daisy next, and he was annoyed at how protective Daisy was of Paulo, so maybe seeing them together will trigger a 'I fucking knew it' kind of reaction.
>>151815697Taeshi's got to have filler. Apparently Paulo is dumb enough he thinks that Abbey would flip out? Maybe Daisy just doesn't want to see Abbey looking at her like he stopped expected anything better of her (again)
>>151815768>He also predicted (correctly) Paulo would be going for Daisy nextI think somebody said something similar in the last thread but this really is just a comic about people being punished for being right.
>>151817280Yeah, I read Paulo and Daisy's inept secret-keeping as them feeling ashamed of proving Abbey right about them being dumb and horny. The stuff about not "upsetting" Abbey is just them justifying it - they both know Abbey's already written them off and probably won't care, but having him go "I knew my low expectations of you were correct, I guess it's good that you've stopped denying it" would be a huge ego-blow, and they aren't ready for that.

As a kid I remember watching the Genndy Wars DVDs in-between II and III, and it bridged them perfectly. Then TCW comes along and is like "No, that wasn't the real story, THIS is the real story".
>>151815492>. I was quite suprised when I read later that offically it was only 4 years.Three actually, in point of fact.
>>151816352>greater science fiction spaceStar Wars is Space Fantasy, not sci-fi.
>>151816327It's strange how Genndy must've read at least part of Labyrinth (Shaak Ti's dialogue in Sheev's office is nearly identical to that book), but the Nelvaan stuff seemed to be pulled out of the blue.
>>151818166>the Nelvaan stuff Fun fact that some in this thread probably already know: Nelvaan was named after Canadian animation studio Nelvana, and its people were based off the "dog people" mutants from the Nelvana film Rock & Rule. Their skin being blue is also a nod to Nelvana's "blue bear" logo.
>>151816354>>151815492Heck, Lucas originally said the war was *two* years (Ewan was in his ROTS getup with hair dyed slightly greyer and said "must've been a hell of a two years"). He later extended it to three, realizing even two was too small.

>>151815531Scrooge's wealth is usually given with nonsense numbers like "fantasticatrillion". Just once did we get an actual figure. It works out to 3.156e17 dollars. If the story was by Barks, this was before a great deal of the Inflation we've suffered over the years -- back when money was really worth something. For example, a Pound Sterling is worth $1.34 today. The Pound was originally an actual pound of silver. A pound of silver goes for $978.54 today. That's what 2 percent inflation (which is what the Federal Reserve aims for) can do over a few centuries.
>>151810392I think most of coins in the Money Bin are just made out of gold.
>>151815734>The Pound was originally an actual pound of silverit was 5400 grains, which was about 350 grams; this is significantly under the 1950s international standard Avoirdupois pound (453g) and the various standards it replaced; it's also under the troy pound by about 20 grams
>>151809734So you're saying that way to fix the economy is to make the rich spend more money?
Best disney movie? And why is it Mulan?
How would Mulan (the movie) turn out of she was a man all along?
Fa Son goes to war in his father's place without the same fussMushu probably isn't awakenedThey all die at the pass Chyna has fallen
I feel like between this and Hercules, Mulan's better. It has more emotional weight in it, although Hercules is funnier.
>>151817478For me it's Herc, I like Mulan well enough but it can be pretty dull in a lot of places. I also have trouble connecting to Mulan as a character. and that's mostly due to Mulan having to keep up the ruse for most of the movie. While it is funny, it also means we can't really examine her motivations through her interactions with other characters until she's found out, and by then the film is almost over. I also like the love interest more in Herc. They try and do something with Shang with the whole nepotism thing but it's not that effective since only James Hong's character looks down on him for it and nobody respects that guy anyway. Meg being burnt out on love and her anxiety over being hurt again works a lot better since that's something Herc's innocence can directly interact with. Shang and Mulan by contrast only get a few sparse interactions throughout the film. And it's not like they're bad interactions either, I actually quite enjoy how subdued the romance is in Mulan, but if you asked me which I prefer I gotta give it to Herc.

>>151817683The puns were massively frontloaded in Z2. I guess the story got too serious too soon to sprinkle them out, but they could've cut a few. I don't think we needed four (4) seperate pig puns for a single requisitioned vehicle.
>>151817846You are wrong.
I think oddly enough the biggest issue in the movie for me is that Nick and Judy never really acted like this in the first movie. They worked well together and were shown to be pretty buddy buddy by the end. Feels odd to see them fighting the way they do, also kinda sucks Nick is more of a joke in this movie than the first.
