I wonder how much better Ghost Rider would be treated if they put an actual conditioning on the penance stare that leads to more action instead of less like Ghost Rider needs to beat his enemys until they cant move so they can face the penance stare which kills and sends them directly to hell.

I've been trying to think of other comics like Funky. not necessarily "silly comic that turned serious", but rather "serious story in strip format". I guess Dick Tracy is one of them, and another that comes to mind is a 4-koma, Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro. also I quite a few webcomics would fit into the mold, but they don't really succeed.
