I haven't had anything to do with BCB in almost two years. I clicked on an old website I had saved to my phone, saw a banner ad for it, and suddenly remembered this was a thing. Biggest mistake of my life. I've spent about two days catching up on where I remember stopping, and all I found was a disaster.Why the fuck did Taeshi have Paulo and Daisy get together. That was a terrible decision. Like really fucking bad. All I can think is that it is be cause Tae somewhat likes the pair and it is her husband's favorite pair. And also because MikexLucy was pre-ordained from the beginning. But still, why not just have them get together with someone else, or not be together with anyone at all by the end.Method Acting was an okay chapter that I kinda enjoyed, and I did like Date Night. I thought James was a pretty cool character for quite a while.Third Wheele and Second String were retarded as fuck. I didn't care for Participation Trophy. It seemed like just an excuse to throw in DavisxSue for no reason, despite the fact that NOTHING in the story has ever hinted that Sue or David even REMOTELY liked each other. Then all of a sudden it's like, "yeah, we always knew you were hot for David". Literally the only thing Taeshi ever did involving those two was the future BCI where they swap partners for baby purposes. Infact Sue been hinted at having like Mike in the past, and lately she seems to be more Lucy and Amaya than anything. So that little chapter made zero sense. Although SuexDavid is a better pairing than anything Taeshi has been doing lately.

>>153029043I get what you mean. Animation is art and not all art needs to be narrative, sometimes the spectacle is enough. But in this instance, it WAS trying to have a narration. It wasn't just a bunch of amazing visual pencil tests that exist to show off human abilities. If you have two animations side by side, one is fantastic looking with no story and the other is equally fantastic looking with a decent story, the latter is always going to be viewed as the better piece of work. Which suggests that story does add value and is not an independent factor that has no effect. This is different from a video game where you can have something with fun gameplay and a solid story and another with fun gameplay and virtually no story outside of a couple of cutscenes and people will generally agree, "Both video games are equally great". It's why something like Psychonauts is viewed on equal terms as Mario 64 despite one having a TON of character development and story while the other has nothing. A video game's strength is that it can have individual components that work and still make for a good experience, while animation is entirely holistic. When something in animation fails, such as having crappy voice acting, man, does it bring down the entire piece of work. There are many examples in a video game where people will look past the exact same issue because it's so much fun.
Why is Elektra still running around calling herself Daredevil? It hasn't come up in this run but I'm sure it will at some point.
I liked Ahmed on Black Bolt, Kamala and Miles but everything since then has been a disappointment - including his Daredevil which just felt very... generic. Middling art, 90s nostalgia pandering. felt like it existed cuz "gotta have a Daredevil book on the stands"Stephanie Phillips fills me with dread. Can already sense it in the classroom scenes: she doesn't want to write a comic, she wants to write the Daredevil TV show. This run is going to play out like its episodes of a Legal Procedural with "How To Get Away With Murder" melodrama. And the only voice she knows how to write is her own, so all the female OCs will be mouthpieces for her quips.
